"The Bright Mourning of a Man Without a Home"
Aaje Vhanli was born in a small village in The Northlands, north of Fort Ranik. He was merely a young child, however, when the Charr pillaged and invaded his home and drove the Humans south of the wall. Under the protection of the wall, the few surviving families rebuilt their small village and it was here that Aaje was given an opportunity to practice his tracking, hunting and archery skills under the guidance of his father. As an adult, Aaje married and had one daughter with his wife, Cadhla, who they had named Rydia. Upon hearing of the impending Charr invasion of Ascalon, Aaje trained, and when King Adelbern called for the bravest of heroes to aide in his fight against the Charr, he was ready to dedicate himself to Adelbern’s cause. Aaje soon left his family behind and vowed to protect them against the Charr and some day return to them. Though no one could have anticipated the affects of the Searing; Aaje returned to his village's remains to find it completely deserted and his family lost. Convinced that Cadhla and Rydia are still alive, Aaje continues his travels in search of his family; determined to keep his promise and return to his beloved wife and child. |
