E/Me FA Dominating Wind[edit]

Works better on Fort Aspenwood Luxon side. Spam Domination Magic skills to annoy enemies to death. Use Second Wind to keep yourself alive and dangerous.

Note: This is NOT a build for traditional Elementalist players! This is a build for those who like playing mesmers but would like a strong self heal (270-400HP) and more energy than Soul Reaping can give you.

Options:

Equipment[edit]

  • Superior Vigor, Pyromancer set for Luxon side, Geomancer for Kurzick side. Add runes (attunement, vitae, etc) to taste.
  • 40/40 Domination set
  • HCT/HRT and HCT/15 energy set (mid energy Dom set)
  • High energy set
  • Defensive sets

Usage[edit]

  • Bind a convenient key to "Cancel Action". You must be able to cancel skills quickly!
  • Rapidly Activate and Cancel Second Wind till exhaustion is half bar or more. You MUST have high exhaustion to be effective! Maintain exhaustion at half bar (offense mode) or more (when attacked - 60 exhaustion = 300HP heal, 80 exhaustion = 400HP heal).
  • Use Second Wind for healing and energy.
  • Shutdown dangerous mesmers first, then healers/protectors.
  • Spam Wastrel's Worry and Wastrel's Demise to kill everything. If there are enemy minions or pets among targets, spam WW and WD on different pets/minions for high combined AOE damage.
  • If rangers or mesmers might interrupt you, activate and cancel Chaos Storm or other skill to try to bait interrupts, then wait for interrupt to whiff then use Second Wind or a skill you really want to use during their aftercast (some ranger interrupt attacks have aftercast). WW and WD may work to bait interrupts as well or force them to use a different skill so you can use yours. Keep them guessing.
  • Use Chaos Storm, Wastrel's Worry, Wastrel's Demise and Cry of Frustation (optional) to nuke gates, mines and pressure healers.
  • Switch to energy sets when low on energy, defensive set when facing heavy attack.
  • Kill the Juggernaut/Turtle by spamming WW and WD. Add Empathy on Juggernaut (let it attack you- watch for toss). Shutdown those keeping them alive.
  • Use Empathy on melee enemies about to target you. Chaos Storm can also discourage them from standing next to you.
  • Blinding Flash (optional) on melee - use it to help keep you and your teammates around longer.

Notes[edit]

  • Do not worry too much about exhaustion or energy. Exhaustion reduces at a rate of 1 every 3 seconds. You can use Second Wind once every 15 seconds and your exhaustion will not increase. You can use it more often but best not to go more than 90 exhaustion.
  • Backfire can be funny on dervishes that rapidly use many flash enchantments.
  • Second Wind removes ALL enchantments on you.
  • Repeated use of WW/WD on the same target does not reset the damage/timer.

Counters[edit]

  • Mesmers getting you before you get them.
  • Heavy KD
  • High DPS (>70DPS) or big spikes.


Examples[edit]

Attacking From Luxon Left Side[edit]

  • Nuke Elementalist gates with Chaos Storm, Wastrel's Worry, Wastrel's Demise.
  • WW, WD, Empathy on Assassin
  • Empathy on Kurzick Ranger then ignore ranger to attack inner gate.
  • Chaos Storm on Kurzick Necromancer, wait for them to use skills then WW, WD on both Kurzick Necromancers.
  • If teammates draw kurzick warriors, run past and head for green gate
  • At green gate use Chaos Storm on Kurzick Mesmer, then WW, WD on the mesmers
  • Run back out of range from the mesmers, use WW, WD and Empathy on Juggernaut, shutdown those healing it.
  • Once past green gate, kill Gatekeepers by opening with Chaos Storm and spamming WW and WD. If you have Shatter Enchantment and manage to get through green gate before the kurzick players arrive, try Backfire, WW, WD on gatekeeper, and WD on gunther, then Shatter Enchantment on gatekeeper's protective spirit for a quick gatekeeper kill.
  • WW, WD and Empathy on Gunther. Chaos Storm on bunched healers (more as e-denial and to give them more to think about).
  • Shutdown healers and dangerous mesmers.
  • Spam WW, WD on "everyone".
