"Taking it to a talk page"

Just a note, usually when I say "take this to a talk page", it doesn't mean copy the conversation over there, but rather just continue it there. If you're going to move something, actually move it, duplicate text just results in 2 conversations where there was previously one, both of them continuing. You single-handedly crashed the entire PvX server cluster. That means the servers that hosted the actual PvX site, the subsites that GCardinal and Hhhippo use, and the images server. It took forever to fix. I then had to go back to Misfate's talk page and remove over a million characters that were making that page uneditable. How difficult is it to understand that when you pull shit like this, shit happens? There's a reason why there are warnings for when pages approach 32 kb - and it's not to encourage you. This is why we insist on admin talk pages being kept neat and orderly, and why archiving is encouraged for everyone else.

By the way, this shit happened not once, but six times, four of which were directly caused by you. Rawrawr's "epic talk page" you can't be blamed for; however, you made not one, but two extremely large edits to Misfate's talk page, not to mention a number of smaller spam edits. Both of those had to be reverted, all four of them caused the servers to lag severely and, in the case of the 7.7m edits, crash. Armond 14:38, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Your opposition to Indochine

I would like to point out that Indochine is not asking for sysop tools to 'help him with his efforts' in dealing with copyvios, he's offering his time and services to help the wiki by using the sysop tools to do the much needed maintenance work that is quickly becoming overwhelming to to those few of us who are still active sysops. I don't see your opposition as being valid in the least, and saying that the other three will be enough is rubbish imo. With people wanting more 'moderation' of volatile pages, and the entire ArenaNet namespace, to expect even 7 of us to do it all is a bit much. There is also the upcoming mass of stuff that's going to require doing in the guild namespace with over 700 pages in inactive status that will need moving, along with images etc. And that number grows daily. I wish people would stop looking at RfA's in such specifics as what contributions the user has made previously, and start looking at the wiki overall, what needs doing and what will need doing in the very near future that can only be done by people with access to the sysop tools. -- Wyn 03:01, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

First of all, I am sorry that my opposition to Indochine causes you such personal angst. Secondly, it is difficult to judge a person and their potential future actions without either looking at their past contributions to the wiki or knowing said person very well. Not knowing Indochine very well, I was thus forced to fall back on gauging future actions based solely on past contributions. Finally, I know full well what work is currently required of admins and what more potentially will be required of them in the near future. Furthermore, I did not state that seven admins would be sufficient for the task. My point was simply that an RfA should be determined independent of the need for admins, no matter how dire that need is. If a candidate does not undergo the same scrutiny as every other candidate based solely on when their RfA occurred (Outside of the expected variation based on current active userbase.), one defeats the whole purpose of an RfA, which is to vet potential admins to ensure job readiness. Chill out, srsly. There's no reason to be an ass to that guy. He had a problem with something on the wiki, and very diplomatically asked for it to change. He provided his reasoning and evidence to support it, all in a pretty nice essay format. If he was being totally ignorant or trying to change policy without consensus or whatever, that would be a different story, but he's just a user trying to make a change he feels necessary. Don't be an ass to people like that.
