Guild

You have a pretty familiar guild, i've played alot with your fellow members in Domain of Anguish Tomoko 03:33, 27 April 2007 (EDT)

Eh, we're mainly familiar because we're so big. The people who do a lot of DoA are from the Reign of Xen division, which is more PvE-focused. I'm in the Xen of Onslaught division, which is completely PvP based. We've got something like ~400 members that log on daily, so it's pretty easy to get the word out there =) MisterPepe talk 14:10, 27 April 2007 (EDT)

hey pepe would u delete the rage tab from my wiki? i expect it is more trouble than its worth. thx Blame the Monks 15:12, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

It's quite easy to do that yourself: just go to User:Blame_the_Monks/TabsHeader and delete the line for the User:Blame_the_Monks/Rage-tab. Or let Pepe do it, of course! -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 04:44, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
=P It's actually even more complicated than that, CoRrRan - the way that those tabs are implemented, all of the pages that come after that one in the tabs list have to be edited to change which tab they think they are =) They look at a command (this=5, for example) to figure out which tab they are, so I'm going to have to change those too. Anyway, Blame - I'll take care of that in ~20 seconds. MisterPepe talk 11:26, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
Done. MisterPepe talk 11:29, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
My mistake, didn't know that. But it's still not too complicated. :) -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 12:23, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
Thanks for all your help pepe. And it may be easy, but its hard for me ;0 Blame the Monks 09:39, 10 May 2007 (EDT)

Blanking guild pages

Please don't do it, MisterPepe. See the discussion at User talk:Tanaric#Busy bee. There's really no reason to nuke someone else's work simply because it isn't formatted nice yet or because it's incomplete. --Dirigible 08:17, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Oh, bugger. I read that discussion earlier, and it was leaning towards blanking and tagging. I haven't checked it in a couple hours. To be fair, though - some of the ones I blanked would have been disallowed even if they followed formatting guidelines (inappropriate content, etc). MisterPepe talk 08:20, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Knowing you, you're probably watching this - I think I agree with Tanaric on this one. Sysop deletion would be ideal, but the {{bad guild page}} template really seems like the best option, especially taking Mike's comments into consideration. While there isn't consensus to do bad guild page, there isn't consensus to do guild cleanup either. MisterPepe talk 08:27, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Until consensus is reached, I'll disagree with immediately removing any other contributor's work simply for the reason that it's incomplete or unformatted. That's not how a wiki works.
As for tags, use whichever you want, I really don't care either way. I was using {{guild cleanup}} simply because {{bad guild page}} says "this page was blanked", which could be confusing. --Dirigible 08:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
I've added my thoughts to that talk page. Don't worry, I'll hold off for the moment, though I still think blanking is the best option. MisterPepe talk 08:53, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
On a side note, adding a cleanup tag really shouldn't be a minor edit, given that it's subject to dispute. Aiiane-a.gif (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 20:34, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Debatable (hee hee), but whatever. I usually keep "minor edit" checked on just about every edit I make, so it's more a problem of habit ;) I'm planning on steering clear of the guilds section in general from now on, actually. There are other things I can do a better job on =P MisterPepe talk 20:52, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

GWEN FTW!

I found this and this, i thought i'd let you know ~ KurdKurdsig.png09:19, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Awesome. Thanks for the links! MisterPepe talk 18:43, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
I've got an idea, what about creating a template for Gwen-chan fans?? something like as I use it on my user page.
I'm not very good in making template, but may be someone can do better ^^

The proportions are a little off (the head probably needs to be resized), but it's decently amusing.
You have seen the full set, right? I keep adding to it at User:MisterPepe/Gwenchan =P (I clean up the images, add transparency, all that good stuff) MisterPepe talk 03:35, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, of course I've seen it !! Nice set! Too bad that they needed transparency cleanup, there is still a white border around the characters. (But I know how it's hard to get rid of those!) I'll probably try to see how templates works... (ps: I've made a resize) -- M'vy | user | talk | -- 08:36, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned Image: Gnomes.jpg

The image you uploaded (Image:Gnomes.jpg) has been discovered to be orphaned and has been tagged for deletion. If you had an article linking to this image, a different one might now be being used instead - if there is an article that you think it would fit on, feel free to remove the deletion notice and give it a home! Thanks, Santax (talk · contribs) 08:59, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Nah, it's fine to disappear. I just uploaded it so that Snograt could make himself a wikignome image ;) MisterPepe talk 16:43, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Articles and NPOV

I realize it's difficult to write a guide that adheres to the Neutral POV as you state in your article, but I'm not convinced that it's a) impossible, nor b) not suitable to be on this wiki. I think the type of person looking up the profession Monk is probably looking for just this type of information. Is there any discussion going on that you're aware of and could point me to regarding guides and/or articles? (I'm aware of the argument of guides vs. builds going on here). - Thulsey User Thulsey good.gif - talk 07:22, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I'd take a look at both Category talk:PvP tactics and Category:PvP tactics - that's where most of this sort of thing has been going. While there are a couple articles, such as Weapon swap and Energy hiding, they're pretty vague, general articles. Some of the articles in there are a little subjective to begin with, even if they're not supposed to be ;) I'm also wondering about guides such as Effective Monking (which would be linked from the main Monk article), which could include links to articles like those and some more specific information. I'll think about it and probably slam out a couple articles tomorrow while I'm slacking off at work XD MisterPepe talk 07:28, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for helping

with Image:Guild The Plains People Cape.jpg. The uploader (obviously a new user) got hit four times with a script on his talk page, and nobody stopped to help him out. Utter crap imo, if people aren't going to keep track of their script, they shouldn't be running the damned things. But ranting aside, thanks for adding the gi tag for User:Krakko :) -Auron My Talk 02:42, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

=) I'm trying to stay away from that particular can of worms whenever possible, but it seemed easier than bugging him about it. MisterPepe talk 02:49, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Hey Pepe! I was wondering if I could bum some help from you. I want to change my profile again, this time to add in a guild history section. I was thinking another tab for guild history and then some way to also have a nav box to jump between guilds and sections. In general I am trying to add more interesting features, pictures, and formatting and less raw text. I wrote a guild history for cow (in my credits tab), and I was just thinking of copying it several times to reserve space until I get around to typing up other sections.

Thanks! Blame the Monks 15:33, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Responded via forum PM. Apparently, I somehow missed this, which is weird considering the sheer amount of time I spend on-wiki. I think the 6-min difference between this post and the next one messed me up =P
Anyway, I've made a stab at it at User:Blame the Monks/Guild History. Take a look, tell me what you think, and I'll tweak it a bit more =) MisterPepe talk 08:41, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

AWB

Hi Pepe, I tried to use AutoWikiBrowser for GWW to actualize some template usages. I set the project in the preferences to custom and http://wiki.guildwars.com and I also can browse through the whole page but when I try to make a list I get an error (404). It works when I use wikipedia as the project but not on GWW. How does this work? :) poke | talk 15:39, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

IIRC, AWB uses query.php to get the info necessary to generate the lists, and we haven't installed Query.php here on the wiki (by now we should have probably done so; people keep stumbling on query.php-related issues). Until it is installed, (if ever), you'll probably have to create the page lists manually, and import them into AWB as a text file. --Dirigible 17:48, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
That's what I've had to do with it ;) It's not all that bad, but it does mean copying a list of items into the text file and getting rid of anything that comes before the page title, i.e. any bullet points. Because of this, I've sort of shifted away from using AWB whenever I can do it with the other bot program I've set up (pywikipedia bot framework), but AWB does have its uses. It's a bit of a pain, but it's usually worth it - especially because you don't have to learn Regex to get good with it =P MisterPepe talk 17:57, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Regexp is not that problem ;) I will try it by converting Template:mini skillbar usages to the improved Template:Skill bar ;) Also I will have a look at pywikipedia :) Thank you. poke | talk 18:08, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
np - though I'm not sure it'll work on a non-bot account. I haven't tried it, tbh. MisterPepe talk 18:10, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
It worked: Special:Contributions/Poke :) Thank you ^^ poke | talk 18:21, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I was't clear - I don't think the pywikipediabot works on a non-bot account. While AWB does work on a non-bot account (I've used it before), it gets some extra features (like full automation) when it's on a bot account. MisterPepe talk 18:23, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Ah, ok. Maybe I will make a second account and ask for bot status.. But I don't know if it would be really necessary. As far as there is not enough bot-work, I will make small things with this account ;) poke | talk 18:40, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Bot run on the miniatures

Hey Pepe, thanks for adding that sort key to the miniatures pages. I hate to be a pain but I have a small and hopefully simple request. If it would take too much time let me know and I will do it manually. I wanted to move all the articles in Category:12 months anniversary miniature to Category:First annual miniature series and the same for the second year ones. And while you were doing that you could add sort keys for them too :) As I said if it is too much work for the 20 or so articles in each let me know and I will do it manually. --Lemming64 18:07, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, it's not too bad - I'll start on it in a bit. MisterPepe talk 18:10, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
It are teh done. I'm in ur wikis, doing ur bot runs. =) MisterPepe talk 19:00, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
You are teh awesome! :) Thanks again Pepe. --Lemming64 19:14, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Bot

[1] Gives a link to Guild Wars Wiki:AWB but that pages doesn't exist.--§ Eloc § 20:02, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Yes. I know. It's actually a link to WP:AWB (as it's a wikipedia tool). If I were running it in full-bot mode, that wouldn't appear at all. Actually, if I were running in full-bot mode, I'd use a different tool. I apologize for the short response (in both ways), but I have another 450 quests to go through, and I don't really care =\ MisterPepe talk 20:06, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

How do you sink a ship?

Apparently by getting MisterPepe to delete an entire page instead of 6 words :D Go to bed, Peps ^^ --SnogratUser Snograt signature.png 00:33, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
