LAGS got you bumming?

Since the end of February, I started lagging REAL BAD. It kept getting worse so my husband found on my laptop a "page fault in nonpaged area" error. Here is how he fixed this;

Vista but works for XP and 7 too.

• Right click the Computer icon
• Advanced System Settings
• Settings button under Performance
• Turn off the Paging for all drives
• Defrag the Hard Drive
• Turn the Paging back on

Now this won't work for everyone but my laptop got to the point the game would freeze up and crash. I still get a minor lag now and then but no where near as bad. I passed this back up to the good people at NCSOFT. --Wendy Black 15:43, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Some cool ideas

Hey, how ya doing?, i've got some nice/cool ideas that I've found across gw1 and gw2 wikis.

• 1: When using an image, you can type it normally but add this to make it so no one can click the image itself ...

• 4:There are alot of Animation pictures across this wiki(User and Arenanet pictures included). Im trying to make a list on my Sandbox of them, help is always appreciated if you find something that is neat for an animation pic. just add the image to my sandbox (:

I've been better,since the warm weather my feet get swollen and hurt a lot. I keep them elevated. How have I been doing in the game, making lots of new friends. My guild officer is looking for recruits. He found 6 in one day and only 1 dropped out. That is not too bad.

• 1. Thanks, this idea would work good with maps and such. I will add it to the Well of Souls.
• 2. Does the host PC have to have that font loaded? Because I have some cool fonts on hand like "Grave Digger".
• 3. Alzheimers... :D ok I will look into that.
• 4. I would like to use animated png over gif but only a few browser support it. Not only does FireFox support them, it has a plugin for making them. If the browser doesn't support animated png then you only see the first frame. Advocates for png have pointed out the vast amount of colors available, while opposition to it state the gif images are smaller in size. Sadly with recent browser upgrages to FF I just can't run the memory hog anymore. So I now run a "trimmed down" version of Chrome (not the Google version) called Iron Browser by SRWare.

Test your browser you should see a bouncing ball if your browser supports Apng.

I think that they have certain fonts preloaded into GWW.

Also, i did see that bouncing ball...

Should Azurial Mentalice Get in the Academy?

Voice your opinion.

My Opinion: Azurial stands as an example of why max titles shouldn't get nerfed. LDoA in pre and they still cant handle a point and click advancement. Sorry, but Azurial Mentalice made it in by Sir Tydus. She tried everything to get inside. Finally she agreed to carry the belongings of someone's brother into the Academy and Sir Tydus took her word that she would just be in and back out. Turns out she did pretty well on the combat with a score of 14 to 2 so Prince Rurik over ruled Sir Tydus and she has joined the others.--Wendy Black 21:52, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I made an archive and really messed up making it. When I made it the first time, I left out the "user talk:name" portion and had to request the whole page be deleted. Other Works

I am working on a new page about my character's backgrounds, because you know I am all about the role playing. I have reorganized the Lensor Character Tables. Also divided the 6 I have so far into "Heroes" and "Defenders" I have one slot I leave empty on purpose for runs to post searing. I don't know what or who will go in the other slot. So far it is occupied by a Monk named Stophen Halten which is German for Holds Stuff. Since there is no Xunlai Chest in presearing he has 2 charr bags, belt, and a small pack. He holds all my dyes and items.

I am also actually playing the game trying to get Dirk to Sorrows Furnance. He made it down from Lornar's Pass to Deldrimor War Camp. Seems pretty off that my Factions necro has made it further on Prophecies and my Prophecies character is doing better in Cantha. --Wendy Black 20:55, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

I agree role playing has lost its meaning when you go to presearing Ascalon and you have people debating religion and politics of the real world. People need to find that "off switch" and if you don't have one, it is just sad. For example; as Azurial Mentalice (a girl driven insane by her past) I tend to say odd things to people and they want to know what I have been "smoking". I go charr hunting and Az says, "Here kitty kitty!" or "All the bad kittens must die!". In real life I love cats and would never hurt one. But my characters are NOT me. When I wish to express something on a personal level to other players, I either whisper or say, The voices in my head are screaming at me, "Use your empathy and wait until the last minute before shatter delusions". This way I can remain in character. I of two other players, who role play pretty well. Dervish of Ascalon and Jabhacksoul are two guys who are very imaginative. You get me a time and date and I will bring those two. They have EotN but I don't, I still have the basic 3 pack. :D --Wendy Black 19:21, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

(Reset) Apparently there are different opinions as what defines "role playing". Some people say (my husband is one) that true role playing is pencil, dice, and paper. Many times back when we were younger, he would invite people over and they would spend 6 to 8 hours playing at the kitchen table. I could never do that, I guess I just never got into that form of role playing. Another form is Magic the Gathering which again my husband says is NOT RP. My son is a veteran of Guild Wars and told me GW has PvP or PvE not RP. I corrected him by showing him the first screen of GW character creation says, Role Playing or PvP. He said, he had forgot about it. When I played WoW, you could pick the RP server and people used to take it serious. You could not bring in a character with a contemporary name. But that has all changed and in my opinion, role playing is anytime you pretend you are something you are not. I think of cops and robbers or barbies, as my childhood role playing games. We just didn't have a rule book, guide lines, or a PC. No matter your opinion anyone is always welcome to RP with me. --Wendy Black 04:37, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

RPG is apparently now any game that lets you create you're character in some way, be it look , name or abilites. Yes, I understood what you meant that you don't cut and paste or script. The only time I load lines is common jokes like the Baron tells. BTW You don't want to place that RP box in your signature as it will add every user talk page you visit to the list of role players. That's fine, I initially made the guild to keep people from begging me to join theirs. Then my friends told me I should buy the guild hall and stock it. Monk Key Ma Nu has been helping me stock it, he purchased the Xunlai chest and hat vendor. I told him he was somewhat premature in his recruitment drive and we should wait until we get the completed hall. Then we can recruit about 5 officers. Help Mapping

Hey, if you want, i'd like to help with naming/creating the map of the Northlands in your well of souls page. Thanks for the help, yes I do plan to make links but so far there isn't any other information (on the wiki) to link to since I made up most of those names based on game play. Oddly enough I worked in a cemetery in real life, and based some decisions on that experience. The mausoleum is a structure where they entomb the dead inside the walls. If you look around that room you can see they have vaults in the floor. There is a lot of empty coffins on the far end of the room. Caverns of the Ancients is the old part of the catacombs, all old cemeteries have older areas in poor maintenance because they are so old no one pays upkeep on the tombstones. They just keep the grass mowed. Halls of the Honored Dead was based on the Muune quest Rites of Remembrance when she said, "Buried here are many brave warriors who sacrificed their lives defending Ascalon...". The toxic swamp water must be industrial run off LoL.

About the Northlands map, I know of only 2 places in the game that are officially named. Piken Square is supposed to be farmer's market and a boot hill style cemetery. You cannot get inside the cemetery in post searing. Surmia is where Cynn grew up and was trapped, you cannot get there in pre-searing but you can see the ruins in post and even a mission. Surmia was built in 1020 AE, which means when you start in pre-searing Surmia is a 52 year old city. There is no information when that city was abandoned in the timeline. I assume it was two years prior due to the Charr invasion. Other than those two places (Surmia and Piken Square) the map seems to have free reign. As the Baron, I have made many charr runs and noticed (in the northeast section of the map) the ruins of a large cathedral or temple with stain glass windows high up near Surmia. There are several other ruins that are unknowns. Then there should be names for the bridges, lakes, and ponds. These are often named after individuals who pioneered the area. Fields are sometimes named for famous battles. The charr weapon where the four bosses are at seems to be a more recent charr built structure. But could also be named. Names

• I'm thinking for (D) on Northlands, "Shady Vale". (Since it is fairly Shady in there)
• And the Bridge,(E), Bridge of Longevity, or Maybe Bridge of Pain/Death/Sorrows(In reference to dying on it, and possibly a lone walker during the searing maybe dying on it) , or something like that. New Character and New Images

Ok early this morning I updated my Hero and Defender images be sure to check those out. I did something different with the Baron and Su Duko. Also please welcome a new hero to the land of Cantha, Kashi Uejini is a female assassin. Only a few days old and I ran her up to level 10, she is to be an elite member of a group inside my guild known as the Four Horseman. Doomsday Thats It, is the brains behind this idea, so you will have to ask him where we are heading. The second horseman is Armageddon Warlord, who was created recently by another member of TIF. I know the fourth horseman is yet to come and it should be Death or Death-like. Kashi is phonetic Japanese for Apparent Death and Uejini means Starvation. So in essence her name is Famine. I suppose this is Doomsday's way to celebrate the up coming 2012 apocalypse. Let's just hope this time it is not as big of a flop as the Y2K! :D --Wendy Black 13:34, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

You are more than welcome to sign up, just grab either me or my officer Monk Key Ma Nu online. I wasn't planning to start inviting people until this summer or when I get enough gold to finish building the guild hall. I am saving up for the next big ticket item the Materials Trader. My officer went on a recruitment drive, ahead of schedule, I ended up with a few who stayed but most left. I felt like he wasted his time and gold, gold that could have gone to the guild hall enhancement. My plans at the moment are just to enjoy the game and build the hall. Then a massive recruitment drive of maybe 3 to 5 officers looking to recruit 10 members each. At any rate I want to go slow because of past experience. I got burned on WoW a few years ago. They don't even have a guild hall to purchase, just guild by name. I made six people officers and one by the name "Littleboy" wrecked it by demoting all the ones he could (about 50+ members) and then left a real foul message on the MotD saying they should leave my guild. My guild (when finished) will be more about contests than PvP. About once a month I like to announce events such as I did on WoW; Scavenger Hunt - Zombie Hunt - Group Dungeon Runs - Picture Day.
