Attribute point

Attribute points are used to improve attributes in either your primary or secondary profession via the Skills and Attributes Panel. Increasing your rank in an attribute will in turn automatically increase the effectiveness of skills related to those attributes. You gain attribute points as you level up. The maximum is a total of 200 after reaching level 20 and completing both of the quests that reward 15 attribute points each.

In an outpost or town, attribute points can be freely re-assigned at any time. Outside of an outpost or town, you can assign any unused points (except during PvP matches), but you cannot lower the rank for any attribute.

Level progression[edit]

Attribute points increase each time you go up a level in PvE. The amount of increase is based upon which level you have increased to. The breakdown is as follows:

Character level Points + Total
1 0 0
2 5 5
3 5 10
4 5 15
5 5 20
6 5 25
7 5 30
8 5 35
9 5 40
10 5 45
11 10 55
12 10 65
13 10 75
14 10 85
15 10 95
16 15 110
17 15 125
18 15 140
19 15 155
20 15 170

Attribute quests[edit]

Each campaign has two special quests (sometimes referred to as attribute quests) that each reward a character with 15 additional attribute points beyond those awarded by reaching level 20. These 30 points are included in the 200 point total given above.

These quests, limited to characters native to the campaign, are listed below (the quest giver is listed in parentheses):

Prophecies Factions Nightfall

Forgotten Wisdom (Sariss Yassith)
The Hero's Challenge (Vanyi)

Lost Treasure (Raitahn Nem)
An Unwelcome Guest (Zunraa)

Rising in the Ranks: Master Sergeant (Runduk)
Rising in the Ranks: First Spear (Runduk)

Spending attribute points[edit]

The following table shows how many points you must spend on an attribute to raise it to a specific rank. Attribute rank 12 is the highest rank obtainable by spending points. You can exceed this only with +attribute items.

Points required to increase rank[edit]

Attribute rank Cost Total
1 1 1
2 2 3
3 3 6
4 4 10
5 5 15
6 6 21
7 7 28
8 9 37
9 11 48
10 13 61
11 16 77
12 20 97
  • Attribute rank: The rank of the attribute.
  • Attribute point cost: The cost in attribute points to raise the attribute by one rank from the previous rank.
  • Total attribute points spent: The total cost of attribute points used to reach this attribute rank.

Points required to reach each rank[edit]

With the above information, we can see that certain maximum attribute point allocations are possible:

Attribute rank Cost Number
of attributes
Points remaining Notes
12 97 2  6 = 200 - (97 * 2)
11 77 2 46 = 200 - (77 * 2) Allows raising a third attribute to rank 8
10 61 3 17 = 200 - (61 * 3)
9 48 4  8 = 200 - (48 * 4)
8 37 5 15 = 200 - (37 * 5) Leaves room to raise one of the five attributes to 9.
7 28 7  4 = 200 - (28 * 7) Most profession combinations include only 7 attributes.
6 21 9 11 = 200 - (21 * 9) Warrior/Elementalist and Elementalist/Warrior combinations have 9 attributes.

Point distributions compared[edit]

Trivia[edit]

  • Prior to the September 26, 2013 update, you could assign any unused points to increase the rank for one or more attributes during PvP matches.
