Purple Crystalline Swords occasionally drop from quest chests in the Underworld, Sorrow's Furnace, and the Fissure of Woe. Gold Crystalline Swords, however, only drop from the Victory Chest that appears after winning a match in the The Hall of Heroes or in a Zaishen Chest which can be found in the Isle of the Nameless. Versions without Inscription remain far more rare than those that have.

When a Crystalline Sword is dyed only the handle of the sword changes color.
