Guild Wars 1 campaign question.

Do you have to make a new character for each campaign or can you do them all on one character?

Characters can travel between campaigns, provided they reach Lion's Arch/Kaineng Center/high enough level in Kamadan.--Deus 02:29, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Targeting

How do I target the monster or animal without attacking and going near it? I just want to target it so I can cast hexes on it, etc. I don't actually want to run up and engage the thing. I could not find an answer on how to do this.---

I think you're looking for the Target#How_to_target article. (I think you have the "Double-click to Attack/Interact" option turned off in the options) Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 23:13, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Selling articles in Xunlai chest?

wie kann ich nicht zu verkaufende artickel aus derxunlei-truhe ablegen? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 79.250.12.118 (talk) at 14:07, 7 May 2012 (UTC).
Translated from German as: "Can we not sell items from the Xunlai chest?"

Yeah, you can't sell items directly from the Xunlai chest, you have to move them into your character's inventory first. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 13:58, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
I understand the question differently: "How do I dispose of unsellable items from the Xunlai chest?"
The answer: open your Inventory panel and drag the item to the trash bin. On the image from the Inventory article, it is the icon numbered 10. 76.164.65.219 07:54, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

Victory Tokens

How can I redeem my 1,625 Victory Tokens? I played Guild Wars in the a.m. of the 8th, last day of Anniversary, but was unable to play in the p.m.as I had expected. Getting back to it on the 9th I could not find any Zaishen Supply Masters at the locations given.Geffen 02:30, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Most likely you'll need to wait for the Dragon Festival in July to turn them in. Unless they decide to throw the collectors back in for a couple days, but that is unlikely.--User Pyron Sy sig.png Pyron Sy 02:32, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for such a quick answer although it is the answer I was dreading.  :)Geffen 02:59, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

^That is exactly what I meant when I wrote on the discussion page for the 7th birthday celebration on this wiki. With all other events that involve collectors, the collectors stay for a couple of days after the event has ended. So why not for the birthday celebration, more consistency please... (mainly I'm just annoyed with the fact that it's inconsistent, although holding on to victory tokens till dragon festival is a tad bit annoying as well)Gaudy Gourd God 20:13, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Agreed. I was also upset for not having a collector after the double week event ended. Another ANet fail. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 03:49, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

I wasn't expecting any more on this subject, and was delighted to see your comments which agree precisely with the ones I decided not to write here. Geffen 02:48, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

I cannot get on because of a download.

The latest download on guild wars wont finish properly, now its left me without a way to get on. every time i open the link, it fails the download and then closes. Please help me!!

The following assumes that your Gw.exe file is at "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe", which is the default location. If you're on a 64-bit system, it might be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars\Gw.exe", or if you installed it to a custom location, it will be wherever you put it. Change the path as necessary.
Run cmd.exe either through the start menu or by using Windows Key+R to open the run dialogue. Then, enter the following (if you are using XP or older, you might not be able to copy and paste normally, so you'll have to type it -- be sure to enter it exactly as it appears, including quotes):
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" --repair
Press enter, and wait for the game to try to fix itself. If it runs, you can stop here. If not, do the same thing with this line:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" --image
Press enter again, and wait for the download to finish. If the download doesn't finish and you still can't launch GW, browse to your Guild Wars folder (same place as Gw.exe) and rename Gw.dat to Gw.bak, then run Gw.exe normally (double click on it). If it takes a while to download, but launches, it means your dat file was corrupted, and you can safely delete the backup file, Gw.bak (but you'll have to download the whole thing again, which sucks). If it still doesn't run properly, delete Gw.dat, rename Gw.bak to Gw.dat, and tell us what happened. –Jette 16:16, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
Or you could right click on the shortcut icon and type -repair at the end of it.. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 17:02, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Reputation / Allegiance / Promotion titles acting strangely

Hey everyone I just noticed a slightly bugged issue in GW as of today. Seems that PvE skills and affects are maxed out as if you had max rank in the appropriate reputation / allegiance / promotion title. Anyone else getting them? Is this a bug, or is this appropriate and proper from now on? Thanks - a_Liability UTC 10:04 5-18-12

It's appropriate, see yesterday's update. -- FreedomBound 11:16, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

My pre searing quests have dissappeared

Hello, I got some of the pre searing quests, just to get skills then abandoned them until I could get close to 20 then planned to do them so I could level faster. Well I noticed about three weeks ago that they were no longer highlighted and all the npc's were acting as if I had done them when I know I have not. Have you guys shut down the ability to do these regular quests after a certain level? Because that is all I can think of.--207.172.179.49 15:48, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Phoenix (pet)

where can i find the Phenix so i can use Charm animal on him?--75.13.164.141 01:08, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Yoshida edited your title to link to the relevant wiki page. There it says exactly where to find an imperial Phoenix: "The Phoenix is a charmable animal that can only be found in the Divine Path, which you enter after completing the last Factions mission, the Imperial Sanctum. One phoenix is at the start of the area, with Suun, the other is further along the path, with the ministers." User Judas Sig.pngudas 11:36, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Training Arena

What is the reset time for the Training Arena on the Isle of the Nameless? I know 2000 Balthazar Faction is the 24hr. limit, but I cannot figger out when that 24hrs starts. Geffen 02:32, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Pretty sure its 24hr after you started doing the training arena in the first place - but theres really no reason not to do Z elite instead. (except maybe you can bring heroes for Training arena..) File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 16:25, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

That would explain the start time fluctuations.Hmm I tried Z Elite ...I just get wiped right away.:) Geffen 22:37, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Birthday Question and Recreation of Char

I have played GW since pre-order prophecies... and for a while I was on break (couple years) and upon return to being able to play, I chose to restart the game to relive the feel from start to finish and created new characters to re-live pre-searing, re-enjoy the entire story line etc etc... I prefer the PVE and story line as set without getting "ran" place to place. My question basically is ... since I chose to enjoy the game to its fullest potential (PVE) does that cause me to suffer on bday presents on that account and restart the timeline for that particular character? In all honesty, had there been some type of notice that recreating a character would forfeit my birthday gifts... I would have kept the mules vs. trying out new primary characters... and this is a total insult to those of us that supported the game from start and enjoy the variations of characters and attempt at continually trying new experiences with the game. Not everyone can afford multiple accounts, especially those of us on a fixed income (yes I am old). I would think the term "respect your elders" would live somewhere within a game that seems to mimic the society ways as a whole.

To answer your question, yes. Once you delete a character, it is gone forever, and almost everything you've accomplished on that character, will be gone as well(exceptions include items and money you've put in xunlai chest or other characters, and account-wide titles, unlocked skills, and general pvp stuff). When I first found out that I would lose so much by deleting my characters, I decided it wasn't worth it. Luckily for me I found out soon after I started playing though. It's too bad you didn't know, and there should have been more visible information about it, but at least minipets don't cost the world, and they will generally not increase the whole gaming-experience, though I can relate to the annoyance you must feel. New Skills From Kills

Should be a really simple answer, but I can't find it anywhere. Isn't there a way to grab new skills from defeated enemies? I can't remember how to do this. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.103.168.91 (talk • contribs) at 22:15, 10 June 2012 (UTC).

You can only capture skills from defeated bosses of your primary or current secondary profession, using a signet of capture. User Judas Sig.pngudas 14:44, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Commander Varesh's Spear

Does anyone know what spear Varesh uses as Commander Varesh in Ruins of Morah Mission, and is available for aquiring? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.242.107.22 (talk).

Looks like Suntouched Spear, pretty common skin in NF. -Auron 07:40, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

ANY new content on the way for Gw 1

Any way to know what to look forward too in the upcoming months for GW1? gettin tired of all the attention for Gw2.67.77.217.125 03:01, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

doubtful, the live team is helping with gw2 now, we just have a skeleton crew Dervish-tango-icon-20.pngDevi 13:58, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

In the "day at ArenaNet" that was recently posted, John was [pictured] with the caption: "Guild Wars Live Team leader John Stumme making plans for upcoming Guild Wars events." Take it with a grain of salt. 78.47.250.35 01:27, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
That would be the Dragon Festival, most likely. Also most likely, nothing new. Though everyone bitching because they forgot to turn in their Victory Tokens should be happy. -- FreedomBound 01:36, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
The live team has been down to less than five full-time equivalents for at least 18-30 months, so what's changed is those few people are spending some (most?) of their time on GW2, i.e. GW1 already had a skeleton crew, now the skeleton is losing bones, too. I doubt this will change much until next year, when we might see the third (and final chapter) of WoC.
Still, even though Stumme et al are working on GW2, they still have some time to work on GW1 stuff (particularly some skill rebalancing, as we saw recently). Making plans for upcoming GW events could refer to something in GW around the time of GW2 launch. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:29, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
Some proposed GW1 updates are listed at Upcoming changes and features. --Silver Edge 20:57, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Restoring abandoned quests

Hello! I stopped playing GW for a couple of years, and when I came back, I had some quests in my log, and didnt know what they were or what for. So I did the most logical thing at the time and abbandoned them, figuring if they were important I could pick them up again. Well amoung them was "The Heros Challange" and it would seem vanyi is not showing any quests for me, and I have already completed all the pre reqs. Is there a way I can get it back? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Caaeel (talk • contribs) at 18:29, 24 June 2012 (UTC).

I think it's unlikely that you cannot re-take The Hero's Challenge unless (a) you've already completed it on that character or (b) something really odd is going on. If you're convinced that you cannot have done the quest yet, then I recommend you create a support ticket, including a screen shot of your character showing 185 (or 170) attribute points to spend and another showing Vanyi's dialogue (without any chance of taking the Q). Good luck (and, if you have a chance, please let us know what you find out). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:53, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

i need some help with getting out of this place

some haw i have got stuck on Embark Beach and can't go any were haw do i get of on this place's so i can to my quest ? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.16.210.62 (talk • contribs) at 19:41, 24 June 2012 (UTC).

Embark Beach is unintuitive, so you're not alone in being confused: it's easy to get there as a newbie toon, but tricky to exit: it depends on your originating campaign and what (mission) outposts you have unlocked. If you started in Prophecies (Ascalon), you need to find the Tryia travel NPC (located near the big ship); for Factions, it's the Cantha NPC (left/middle of map); and for Nightfall, it's the Elona representative (top/right of map). Then, you have to figure out where you started by clicking on the dialogue choices until you find some place you've been before (generally, they should be among the first choices).
Navigation/mapping gets easier once you unlock continent travel, by reaching the major port city (Lion's Arch, Kaineng Center, or Consulate Docks). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:59, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Abbreviations

I haven't been playing guild wars for a while and noticed people putting things like "U:45,280; L:125,000" or something like that into party search and would like to know what it means. I cannot find an answer online. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.222.151.33 (talk) at 20:44, 29 June 2012 (UTC).

Its just people typing out the number of Unlucky and Lucky title points they have at a current point in time, then they go afk on 9 rings and return a few hours later and compare the number they stored in party chat compared to the number they now have in the hero panel.
