Salvage item
From Guild Wars Wiki
Salvage items are items that are primarily meant to be salvaged with any type of salvage kit. You cannot equip or use salvage items; although, you can still sell them to merchants. These items are usually represented as broken pieces of armor, torn bits of clothing, or actual remnants of defeated foes. There are two subtypes of salvage items, armor and stackable salvage items.
Armor salvage items can be identified and salvaged for runes, insignias, common and rare crafting material. They are not stackable in the inventory and have a sale value that varies depending on rarity. White armor salvage items can only be salvaged for crafting materials. Blue, purple, and gold armor salvage items may contain one rune and/or one insignia. When salvaging for a rune or insignia, there is a chance that the salvage item may not be destroyed, depending upon salvage kit used. If the salvage item does not get destroyed, then it can be salvaged again. Salvage armor has an armor rating of up to 40, which is related to its salvage yield and vendor value. Higher level monsters tend to drop salvage armor with higher armor ratings.
Stackable salvage items are stackable in the inventory, cannot be identified, and can only be salvaged for crafting materials. They are white, have a fixed sale value, and have no armor rating.
