The combat is direct, and the only objective is to kill. If you have difficulty, nothing prevents you from bringing a full party to help you with this 'duel'.

- Well, <Player name>, I think you are ready for the dueling grounds, where you will learn the fine art of dueling. It is an age-old tradition that dates back to...well, farther than most of us care to recall. You know how it is: it always starts with an Air specialist going on and on about how great "Lightning Orb" is. It's enough to give me "Exhaustion". Specialists all think their chosen element is the best, but it is skill, not skills, that keep you...well...not dead.
Accept: "A real Elementalist duel? Show me the way!""
Decline: "I don't think I'm ready to start dueling yet.""
Ask: "You do not wish to duel me, do you? Well then, enter the dueling area where your fellow classmates are awaiting you."

- In the inital dilogue, Kai Ying puns on the elementalist skill Lightning Orb and the effect Exhaustion.
- Most of the students in this quest end up dead to the Afflicted and you end up fighting their monstrous forms at some point in the game.
