Biography: On a cold, snowy Changhai night, Chang and Ming Na Lan Wu welcomed their only child into the world. The fisherman and his wife doted on their long awaited daughter, Ching Lan Wu. Ching’s childhood was fairly typical for the area. Ching spent many hours with her mother, learning the more mundane skills necessary for a young woman to keep a house running – laundry, cooking, cleaning, and gardening, among others. Ming Na also had other interests that she shared with her daughter, namely herbalism and the brewing of various potions as well as the art of the Canthan tea ceremony. The Lan Wus were neither wealthy nor poor, fitting rather decidedly into the Canthan middle class. They had a comfortable existence and Ching wanted for nothing. Her parents would do without rather than deny their daughter of something she needed or wanted. This habit was carried throughout Ching’s childhood and into her teenage years, causing her to become fairly spoiled and stubborn. In her late teens, it came to light than Ching seemed to have a natural aptitude for controlling the elements and her parents enrolled Ching at the Shing Jea Monastery. Ching’s time at the monastery was unremarkable, with the exception of a couple of unfortunate accidents involving fire, which she inevitably blamed on fellow students. She studied hard and passed her courses with ease. After finishing her training, she ran into one of her cousins, whom she had not seen in several years. As it turned out, her cousin had recently become a member of the Orphans of Kukai. Ching was invited to join as well, and she did, passing the last couple of years as a member of that guild, although there was a period of time when she was away, presumably with Kethra Young. Height: 5'9"..ish Weight: 150 pounds, a bit heavier than normal for her after having 3 babies in a year. (!!!) Build: Slenderish, but curvy. Eyes: Golden brown. Hair: Black hair. Thick, glossy. Normally cut/styled with the front longer than the back, no fringe. Clothes Style: Her clothing generally tends to not be modest, although she does have some outfits that are less revealing. Wears a lot of skirts/dresses. Tattoos, Piercings, Marks, Scars, etc.: She has faint scars on both cheeks, each running fairly parallel to her cheekbones. Her earlobes are pierced, but she only wears earrings when she’s dressed up. She wouldn’t normally wear jewellery when she’s fighting or adventuring, and she doesn’t wear it around the babies. Appearance: She moves fairly gracefully for her height. She’s currently not as toned as she once was, after giving birth twice in a year, particularly her lower abdomen. Religion/Patron Deity: Not especially religious. Her patron deity is Balthazar, although she’d tell you it’s because she likes his beard. Political Affiliation/Alignment: Ching is very anti-Ministry in Cantha, in terms of politics. Her alignment is Chaotic Neutral. Education: Ching was taught at home by her mother as well as some in the local village school before going to Shing Jea Monastery, where she completed her studies. Languages spoken: Canthan is her native language, but she also speaks Tyrian/common. Weapons (if any): She has a multitude of weapons – primarily staves, but also has wands, foci, bows, and a little bit of everything. If you include the weapons that Kasen has acquired, they could equip a small army. Occupation(s): She owns/manages the Tranquil Garden Teahouse. She also has a side “business” that was somewhat of an offshoot of her previous involvement with Kethra Young – brokering information. She is not as involved right now as she once was. Past Occupation(s): She was previously a housekeeper at the White Lotus Hotel in Kaineng Center. Also previously an assassin, introduced to the trade and trained by Kethra Young. Special Abilities/Skills: A very proficient pyromancer. She’s also somewhat trained in the ritualist arts, primarily summoning and controlling spirits. As a child, she was trained by a woman in her village to perform some contortionist tricks. She’s also very familiar with the traditional Canthan tea ceremony. She dated Mazer Mezar, for several months without knowing that he was engaged to another woman who was off travelling. When she returned, she was unceremoniously dumped. She dated Jade Harrier for a short period, who was her cousin. This relationship did not end on particularly good terms. She then got involved with Kethra Young, whom she met through the Orphans of Kukai. This relationship was rather odd, and much more of a business relationship than one of love. She became tired of the lifestyle and left. Her last relationship prior to her current one was with Alwyn Syrin, who fathered her twins. He was extremely commitment-phobic.
