I've learned that wikis are are pretty much a pack rat's heart's desire. As I understand it, pretty much anything that goes on a wiki stays on a wiki. Well, unless it's really nasty, in which case it's deleted. Now the content may be edited, or occasionally replaced, but if it's posted, it pretty much will live on. I am learning that you don't "tidy up" (I'm a compulsive tidy-uper) and delete things, you archive them. So... ta da! That's why I set up some archive pages. When a discussion appears to be complete, I will move those bits related to that particular discussion over to one of three pages, each intended for different purposes. This page is for things that don't fit into the Wiki Matters/Issues/Questions category, and aren't really related to community, either. This is for personal notes and so forth. Wiki members can post on these pages, too, in addition to the non-archive pages. I hope this works -- right now it's all about keeping my duckies in a row. :D --Gaile User gaile 2.png 21:56, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

Some people just hate everything for anything. His solo build probably got nerfed, poor beings with no imagination. :/ -- Gem (gem / talk) 16:42, 15 March 2007 (EDT)
Meh. It takes all kinds. Including the small-minded, the ungracious, and the kind who get jollies from such immature and puerile silliness. I'm a gamer with the best job in the world, with the best team making the best game ever. My role, in large part, is messenger. From time immemorial, people have had difficulty with the concept of messengers. (You know the whole "shoot the messenger" thing? Heck, did you see the first scene of 300!? That was some messenger removal, there! :) ) Anyway, I do what I do so that, in part, others can do their jobs more easily and with greater focus. If I need to ignore a few of the antisocial sorts while doing what I do, so be it. If it means continuing to talk to those who care--who outnumber the nasties by a thousand to one--while avoiding or declining to accept the bait of the unpleasant, it's no biggie at all. *shrug* --Gaile User gaile 2.png 17:03, 15 March 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, the role of the messenger is basically to keep the mob from the guys doing the work on the background. The sad side is attracting all the bad attention as you give the face to the organisation. A person needs to be able to ingore the negative stuff to be able to relax and work efficiently, and I think yo're doing great, Gaile. :) -- Gem (gem / talk) 17:19, 15 March 2007 (EDT)
I'm with Gem on this one. Gotta let that stuff roll off ya Gaile and you do an extremely good job at it. Btw - Love the paw in your signoff.  :) --File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 07:50, 16 March 2007 (EDT)

Hi Gaile, a big warm wave with two arms from Germany. ^.^ You are doing a great job so forget about such short brained trolls. Wish I could convince by husband to spend our next vacations around Seattle and not on the Eastcoast *sigh* so we could find out that we had both the same long read hair and that we love cats. *wave* --Eleonora 08:28, 19 March 2007 (EDT)

Guten Tag, Eleonora (what a lovely name!). Well, the East Coast is really nice. There is a lot of US history there; I especially love the Civil War battlefields. Of course, Germany has a long and fascinating history, and so our "few hundred years" of history will sort of pale by comparison and may seem like recent days. *lol* I must say, though, that Seattle is a very nice place to visit. Perhaps you can suggest a trip here another time! :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 21:35, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
Gaile's right. The east coast has a rich history. 10 minutes away from me is The Bentonville Battlegrounds and a lot of other historic parks and landmarks. Very relaxing and inspiring. Downside, a mile down the road is where the cable company stops service, so those people either have DSL or dial-up. *shivers at the word dial-up* :D — Gares 23:21, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
Good morning dears :) Seattle is still a "white" mark on our travel map, hopefully we can correct this in the nearest future. We have been to Oregon (Crater Lake), Yellestone (and I'm happy having seen it before the big blast comes -.-) These were the farest north points in the states. Last year it was the area around Chicago On the other side, of course there is a must to see (at least for cat lovers) the Hemingway Museum at Key West! --Eleonora 04:11, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
If I could only name one place where I would want to spend the rest of my life, it would be Key West. I'll be honest and say I have never made it to the Hemingway Museum in the three times I have been there. Out of all the places in that area, it beats the Bahamas, Jamaica, and most of the Carribean Islands. Give me a beach there, a cigar, a cold beer, and a straw hat. Then just stare out into the horizon, especially at sunset when the sun seems to melt into the sparkling water of the vast ocean. The bars aren't too shabby either. My friends and I could not stay away from Fat Tuesday's drinks, nor could we find our way back to our place after we left. ;) — Gares 10:58, 20 March 2007 (EDT)

Bone Dragon you're looking for

Hey Gaile :) I got a miniature Bone Dragon, saw you were looking for one. Whisp me in-game: Ion Bloodskilled (for example) or respond here. I'll be glad if I can help :) ----InfestedHydralisk Shadow Prison.jpg 13:51, 21 March 2007 (EDT)

ah man when do I get an answer? =( ----InfestedHydralisk Shadow Prison.jpg 18:50, 22 March 2007 (EDT)
I've been amassing my fortune, Inf. :) I have but a single ecto, I believe; Koss and Melonni are conspiring to take every single drop. ;) But I do have some gold so I'll get in touch. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:02, 23 March 2007 (EDT)

Oh, yes, I've seen the screenshots and witnessed the little guys in town. That's why I'm going to be shopping for one. :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 17:43, 23 March 2007 (EDT)

Good read

I was browsing GuildWiki when I came upon this. Could you possibly consider many of these suggestions? It's an excellent list. --Chiaro 13:46, 24 March 2007 (EDT)

Well, that list isn't much compared to this one. It's my compilation of all of the suggestion lists on the GuildWiki, plus it includes a lot of stuff from fan forums. I'm sure Gaile will tell about these to someone if she sees it as necessary. -- Gem (gem / talk) 17:27, 24 March 2007 (EDT)
Gem, that induvidual storage suggest of yours, looks annoying to me.
Like you just got a nice weapon for a other character you have, it won't help by putting it in storage so your other character would get it (for example).
Increased storage is better then induvidual, in my sight :) ----InfestedHydralisk Shadow Prison.jpg 19:10, 24 March 2007 (EDT)
It is just a compilation. Feel free to discuss the stuff on the talk page. -- Gem (gem / talk) 20:35, 24 March 2007 (EDT)
I have a feeling that many of the changes (such as hair/size/age) will be introduced into GW2, It would throw out much of the "appearance" of GW1, I do agree that we need more storage space asap, I have 4/9 as mules :( -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 20:48, 24 March 2007 (EDT)
Personally I think there should be a "dev update" channel on chat (which could be turned off like other chat channels) so we can get Gaile news & Frog talk no matter where we are in the game. Of course the die hard Gaile fans will flock to see our favorite Purple wearing ANet Ranger to give her 250 Eye of Newt & 17 Shard of Awesomeness (hint: Shard of Awesomeness should be in GW2, it's awesome! :)). --Jamie (Talk Page) 20:58, 24 March 2007 (EDT)

Looking for a Miniature Prince Rurik?

Well, unless you're big into earning the money for your things by yourself, I have one you can have, free of charge. Best to focus your money on getting the Bone Dragon. :) I was just going to pawn it off to somebody in Kaineng Center anyways. I'd much rather you take it, Gaile, for many reasons. Above all, more than once you've answered my questions in the cities whilst you had no obligation to do so.

If you want him, drop me a line. My IGN is Myrai Tamara. I'm on an unhealthily large amount, so that shouldn't be a problem. Marin Alacet 23:42, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

That's extraodinarily kind of you, Marin. I would love to have the little guy! I would feel sort of funny accepting him as a gift, though, so let's see if I have something to trade. *rifles through bags* *finds a half-eaten piece of fruitcake, a yellow dye, a set of 2-4 daggers, and two dust bunnies* :) No, just kidding. I might have something trade-worthy. If my computer stops being twitchy, I'll be playing this weekend, and I'll message you. Thanks so much -- this will be great! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:58, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
Hey Gaile! Just wanted to say thanks for answering our questions in Kamadan. With all the people giving you stuff, you must be almost to your Bone Dragon by now. I'm shocked nobody tried to give you a Bone Dragon itself (or did they?) Hope you enjoy the Mini Prince Rurik =)
Though I do have one question that you never managed to answer (not that I blame you, not at all! With all that massive spamming, I couldn't see it myself). Is there any chance we could see an update to the Canthan Targe pre-order item? Most of the pre-order items are max, and this only have 14 armor, making it a little weak. Marin Alacet 19:36, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
It was great to see you too, and thank you sincerely for the Prince Rurik mini. I'm going to dig through my other inventories and see if I can locate some daggers. In the meantime, are there any minis you need? I got a couple of duplicates (what with all the chars and all the birthdays) and maybe one of them would be a good return gift.
The preorder items from the initial offering -- that is, the ones for Prophecies -- haven't gotten an upgrade, it's true. I can ask the design team about whether they have plans to upgrade them in the future. I know the changes that you see in the next generations are due to player requests. But whether the designers would want to go back and amend those items (and yes, I know some things are amended from time to time) is a matter about which I cannot be sure. If I get more info, I'll be sure to provide it. Thanks again! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:46, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
There are a quite few miniatures I would like, but I already know you don't have any of them =) Though I wouldn't mind a Miniature Burning Titan, or a Miniature Jade Armor if you have duplicates of either of them. Also, thanks for the update on the Targe. Even if it doesn't get done, I'm glad it was at least heard. And if it does, that's an extra 2 armor for my Legendary Defender of Ascalon character =) (I think I use smilies more than you.) Marin Alacet 19:58, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

You know what? Just take the Rurik as a gift. Forget about giving me anything back. You're nice enough to put up with the spammers and the people with Chronic Capslock Syndrome for 3 or 4 hours. I figure you deserve it. My only requirement is that you keep your wishlist up to date so that I can buy you a birthday present =) That might be a little hard though, what with the people swarming around you trying to give you stuff.

On the topic of your visits, I don't think I'd ever be able to do what you do. Having to quickly sift through the spam and already answered questions to listen to what we say. I tried my best to answer what I knew, and it was way too hard (though it was neat seeing "Are you a GM too?" over and over again.) I look forward to your next visit to Kamadan, and will of course be there Marin Alacet 19:06, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

Where are my manners? Thanks so much for the little Rurik. He's a kick, strutting around with his glowing sword. :) Definitely one of my favourites. Thanks again, it was really nice of you to share this guy! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:17, 6 April 2007 (EDT)

Multiple accounts

How...many exactly do you have? 5? 15? 30?! :P--Chiaro 19:13, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

I think maybe 9 or 11. I have a bunch in North America, one or two in Europe, and one each in the other territories, too. (I don't think I have one in China yet; I'll have to see about getting one.) Not all of my accounts have a full set of characters. But then, some of them have 10 or 12 characters on the account. I've never done a roll-call -- that might be sort of interesting. :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 02:23, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
Ever add up all the hours you've played across all your accounts? That might also be interesting :) Marin Alacet 13:01, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
I wish I had so many accounts I couldn't count them all. *hint, hint* User Blastedt sig.jpgBLASTEDT 19:43, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

(Reforming indent) I can't believe this. You can't actually think that she'd give out her personal account info. She'd have bumloads of spam in no time. I'm sorry, but I don't think she will contact you. She has to have some level of secrecy of her accounts. - Drago-Shield-Mini.gif Drago 14:12, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

Hey Gaile, quick favor + question ^^

Is your first name pronounced like gale? Also, say hi to Kevin Gadd for me please, from DarkNecrid. :P Also if I see you in game, I'll make sure to donate to your Sweet Tooth title xD.DarkNecrid 17:26, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

New posts should be made at the bottom of talk pages, just to keep things in order. ;) — Rapta (talk|contribs) 21:00, 1 April 2007 (EDT)
Oh sorry :X DarkNecrid 21:34, 1 April 2007 (EDT)
Depends on how you say "gale." It's like gay-elle, not gay-ull. If that distinction even seems clear. (The "e" is silent.)
Oh, that'll be great about the donation. 'Cause I think I have 1000 points to get to the first level, and I only have about 150 towards it so far. I've been rustling through my inventory all day trying to find every creme brulee and every blue bottle I can locate! Until this week, I thought I hated fruitcake! :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:20, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
No problem about the donation, I'll see what I can do. Also you got to meet Jeff Grubb, my hero :X. DarkNecrid 17:41, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

Titles

You mentioned on your page that you where looking for titles that a level 7 character could have I thought of the Wisdom title track. It fits the character since your always giving out such great information. It's not to hard to get either, just trade unidentifed items from your other characters and have the level 7 identify them, also if you know people that don't want that title track in particular, you can identify their items for them. As to the Grand Cartographer Title title, I'm sure there are people who can take you out and kill everything for you (Just stay really far back so you dont gain EXP) Missing one person out of the party no matter where they are shouldn't hinder the party too much if they know ahead of time and plan for it, once everything is good and dead just run around. ????! (Good Luck) ~Pandemonium Angel

SHE WOULD HAVE TO GET PAST LVL 7 IN ORDER TO GET GRAND MASTER CARTOGRAPHER!!!! HOW WOULD SHE GET TO PLACES LIKE HELL'S PRECIPICE OR IMPERIAL SANCTUM?????? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:71.218.113.83 on 19:38, 24 May 2007.

Um, chill...it's not that important.  ?-(eronth) I give up 23:46, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
The anon seems to not have played with guildies or friends... which is kind of sad. With runners or other people helping you, you can. -- ab.er.rant sig 01:24, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Playing "incognito"

Whenever you play on your other accounts, what can you say about the players on Guild Wars? Are they helpful, idiotic, selfish, what? It's a good chance to learn about people, because they don't know who you are. Also, if you've spotted any characters with the last names "Meratilo", "Luan", or "Katon", rest assured it's me. :P --Chiaro 17:38, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

A community is made up of individuals, and it would be impossible to put a label on the community as a whole. Sometimes I see incredible kindness. Sometimes I see so much trade spam I wonder how people socialize. I've seen great generosity and friendliness and, rarely, but sometimes, behavior that makes me cranky. In fact, I saw language so close to the line a few weeks ago, I left my player character and brought Gaile into the game to give the people a little "pep talk" about manners. ( They listened, oh truly they did!)
I like both guild play and pick-up groups. PUGs are good because they give you a chance to meet new people and, possibly, make a long-time friend. It's entirely possible to play solo, of course, and that's fun. But I like to encourage people to reach out and use the party search, try to hook up with a few other players. It could be the start of a friendship or even the beginning of a new guild. I think the best thing about Guild Wars is the ability to socialize and have fun (and play am extremely well-designed game) in a beautiful game world. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:28, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Guilda II

Uh-oh! The info on Guilda II has been up almost three weeks now, and her Hamsterness still doesn't have a subpage? I would be careful around her, that chomped finger is probably coming up soon! --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 20:57, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

I hate to ask but what happened to Guilda 1? Morimoto 23:27, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
Well, Morimoto, Guilda (I) passed to Hamster Heaven in December. It was her time -- she had lived a long and happy life. Guild II joined the team in late January, and she has proved a very adept server hamster, indeed. You remember the European outage issue a few weeks ago? Yep, G2 took care of that by getting into the server, diagnosing the broken element, sending an email to order the replacement... (what's that IT team? You say... Oh, I see. ;) ) Well, without hamsterly exaggeration, G2 does her bit for the company by serving as mascot. Last Friday she was running amuck down the hallway in her runner-ball. She seems to like the Designer Room best.
The problem with the little one's subpage, Barek, is that she and I think it naturally should be cornerstoned with a photograph, yet confidentially, this little beastie is very hard to get to sit still for a photograph. She's either in motion or she looks like a deer... err.. hamster in the headlights? I have been trying to snap a pic for days, but she thinks she needs the full studio glam shots, and I'm not paying some professional photog to snap pictures of a rodent! I'll see if I can catch her highness soon, and start on that subpage. (I also need to learn how to make a subpage. I assume I can get some help with that? :) ) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:50, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
Sub-pages are easy, User:Gaile Gray/Guilda II, then just add all the data you want :) -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 01:01, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
You let a hamster loose in the hallowed hallaways of ArenaNet HQ, in a rollerball?! Oh, my gosh, I wonder how hard it is to apply for a job working at ArenaNet. ;-) That'd be so cool. - Drago 00:07, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
I have pastel lights in my window, a wealth of spring stickies on my windows, floaty bunny 'n' egg streamers down each side of my doorway, and a candy dish with three (count 'em, three!) kinds of Easter candy on a table with my lavender-outfitted Build-A-Bear Frog. G2 running amuck down the hallways in a purple rollerball is the least of my breaches of corporate etiquette. :D
But then, we're not really a corporate-y sorta place. :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:14, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
Wow. You sound like quite the eccentric person, and I use the term eccentric loosely, and nicely. Sounds like your probably a blast to work with, and your office sounds like a hopping place(ooh. Bad bunny pun. :( ) EDIT: Whoops, wrong section. . - Drago 00:16, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
Drago - if you're seriously curious, there is a listing of job openings on the ArenaNet website. I'm local, so I peek over there periodically; but, sadly, I'm not qualified for anything they have open. And I'm sure the bendy alien, magic eight ball, chinese finger puzzle, and monkey on a swing that I have on my desk at work would fit in nicely, too! LOL. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:43, 4 April 2007 (EDT)

Your Quest for a Title

As you (hopefully!) know, on your UserPage, you said you were going to go for a title. The Sweet Tooth title would be cool on a level seven, but, maybe you could go for a special event-specific title, like Lucky or Gamer? Those are account-wide, and they're harder to come by, meaning just a little more prestige. Or, better yet...all three! :P Sora267 21:09, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

Unless you have 1000s of platinum for sweets I suggest finding an easier title, such as the protector title. -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 21:14, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, my Ranger has Protector on all three continents, and I really suck at this game :D --SnogratTrigsig.png 21:19, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
*gulp* Thousands of platinum? Gad, I had no idea! I was thinking the title would be cute to have, in part because I think that character just looks like a sweetie. However, I may need to reconsider. I found another store of fruitcake on my player characters (the result, no doubt, of my obsession with the Wintersday games ;) ) so I will donate them all to my non-player account, just to give my main girl a Sweet Tooth boost. However... thousands of plat... hmm... --Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:28, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
Affording it really isn't the problem, Scourge. You obviously haven't seen the people lining up to give her sweets. Heck, I would have if my Blue Drinks hadn't been on my other character. Marin Alacet 21:24, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
Gaile has been hiding from me, I've never actually seen her in game. I wish people lined up to give me nice things ;) -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 21:35, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
People are incredibly generous, it's true. I am truly very grateful for the kindness that they show. I don't play on this account, and of course devs cannot spawn gold, items, not even so much as a chitin fragment or a tanned hide. But with help from kind players, my main "visiting girl" has things that make me so proud and so very happy. And here's the honest truth: I've never sold a single item that someone's given me. I am really sentimental, and gifts mean a lot to me, so I keep them all. This means, of course, that I have a lot of iris flowers, and iboga blossoms, and a pretty lovely collection of quest items, too, all of which I enjoy. And I guess it sort of explains why I have so many storage characters on my account, eh? :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:28, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
Basically if you were to buy red bean cakes (which are the only sweet tooth item that is purchasable from a merchant) it would cost you 200 Platinum for the Sweet Tooth title and 2000 Platinum for Connoisseur of Confectionaries. However if people are generous, which I am sure they are I expect you could get there pretty quick with the odds and ends from holidays that are left over and people donate to you. :) --Lemming64 13:00, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
Ok, 200 Platinum (love the icons!) is out of reach by at least, ummm, 180 Platinum. You say 2,000 Platinum? I might as well hope to ascend at Level 7. ;) However I still have 90-something fruitcakes (don't ask -- I loved the Wintersday games!) and about 40 sugary blue drinks on hand. I think they're both one-pointers. I have a grand total of 2 Creme Brulee, too. So... hrm... yes, it's going to take a while. *sigh* I might need to wait for a few more holiday events to get to Level 1. Ah well, I have time and it certainly can be a long-range goal. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:01, 4 April 2007 (EDT)

I thought that Rank Emotes were account wide anyway, couldn't you just create a PvP char and let one of the devs rip through HA for you for a few days to get yourself a Bambi! 80.254.147.68 09:39, 4 April 2007 (EDT)

Oh, no, I couldn't do that! For one thing, she'd level. For another, it'd be cheat-y. And for a third, I'd have to trust someone with my password, and I don't go down that path! :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:17, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
(In response to Gaile) You'd better do it before GW2, or all will be for naught, right? ;) -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 12:47, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
Yes the icons are cool, there is Gold too :). You probably know more about this than we do, but going on what the frog said today maybe there is going to be some kind of Easter event, an egg hunt maybe? I am guessing any chocolatey egg delights will contribute too :) --Lemming64 14:30, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
Apparently some sort of festivity-related drop, yes. I don't get it -- I am the chocolate lover, and he learns about this first? And speaks about it in some obscure time zone?! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:17, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
Clearly the Tad-Pole Network has something over discussions at the water cooler, :) --Lemming64 18:42, 10 April 2007 (EDT)

Hey Gaile, I hoped you enjoyed your small Sweet Tooth title donation(Which you seem to be going for). I know 10 Platinum isn't a whole lot, but it should help. Good luck on it, and if you want some more, just give me a shout(Abbel from earlier). Crazyman 20:15, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Gaile: If you need donations for your sweet tooth title, I have a few creme brules that are taking up valuble storage space. My IGN is --> --Lord Belar 18:31, 10 April 2007 (EDT)

I've got 23 golden eggs you can have (provided i can manage to get into kamadan intl dist 1 before it fills up) Avatarian86 22:26, 27 April 2007 (EDT)
EDIT: also, if you created a pvp character, then got one of the pvp-based titles, it should carry over to your lvl 7 character without her actually having to participate. Do you have a lot of skills unlocked on that account? Avatarian86 15:28, 28 April 2007 (EDT)

Hey Gaile, thanks for responding to my question in Kamadan tonight, I quite surprised to get a response even after the conga :), me & 3 fellow guildies were trying hard to get into international district 1, but as we know everyone is so eager to see our Gaile. my question btw was "Gaile any chance of getting a "GM chat" channel so we can hear the words of GM, especially The Double G, at the time of them saying the text. While chat logs are indeed a great way of hearing information, there is something pretty special about hearing it straight off the press. --Jamie (Talk Page) 19:56, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

It was nice to see you guys. You all made it eventually, I think? I have a feeling that broadcasting across instances may be a little intrusive. Maybe for GW2 we'll have a means to log the chats, and hey, maybe we'll have larger towns, so more who want to can join in! :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:27, 3 April 2007 (EDT)

Uh-oh

Just a quick FYI: the images of the miniatures are going to be in conflict with the policy on user pages. There's been discussion on that policy talk page to increase the image size restrictions, but even with that increase, these are some big image files. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:40, 4 April 2007 (EDT)

Ok, fair enough. But we need to change verbiage from "recommended" to "policy required" because others, like I, might believe that having one image at 250 is far, far less taxing than having six images at 100 each. For I can split that bar into individuals, but it's actually going to increase the overall load time and file size of the page. (Something to think about with the user policies, perhaps?)
In the meantime, rather than remove them I will leave them until tomorrow, when I have access to the program (and the team member's help) that will allow me to reduce the image size. It's a shame, too, because I don't know exactly how I can make individual images that will form as nice a header and footer as the way they are presented now. This seemed the best way to do what I hoped to do, but I sure don't want to breach the rules so I'll take care of it as soon as I am able to do so. :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:45, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
I agree, that one should be addressed too, a single image should load faster than multiple smaller ones - but that's not the issue I noticed ... further down on the policy it says that "All images on your main user page must not exceed 100 KB in total size". That's the one where there's been discussion to change it (although I think it fizzled out with no resolution reached). I'm one of those arguing to keep it smaller; although, I've been too busy to connect from work lately, so it's less of an issue to me currently. More recently I've had less chances to work on the wiki - there are other issues for me in the real world at the moment - like shopping for a diamond ring for my gf - shhhhh ;-)
The main concern on bigger images was for dial-up users and users connecting from work where bandwidth might be an issue; but, in all honesty, there are bigger concerns - I doubt I'll argue against increases on that any longer (can't speak for others here - just me). --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:57, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
What's the ring for, is someone going to pop the question? ;) -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 01:18, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
Unfortunately there isn't much of a voice for users in those circumstances. People wanted the limit increased to 250kb total, which isn't too bad, but I don't know how it will affect dial up or work users. Fortunately and unfortunately, I'm on 12.2mbit download now, so I won't be pushing the size limit as hard as I was before too. I just don't want it to get out of hand again. - BeXoR 01:21, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
"Oh, look at me, I'm BeXoR and I have a 12.2mbit line!" :P LordBiro 14:51, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
Buahahaha! ^_^ - BeXoR 01:46, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
I wanted to clear my name, now. ;) Andrew kindly assisted in paring down the images and I think they are now well within the recommended parameters. My concern is, of course, that it's hard to make out the lovely miniatures so pictured. Perhaps I'll upload images a shade larger later, but I'll be careful to follow file size etiquette. Not everyone is on a 12.2mbit line, eh? :D --Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:13, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
If you would like, you could always send me the screenshots and I can cut the backgrounds out for you (like Image:Warriors.jpg). - BeXoR 01:46, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

The Gaile needs a talk page notice contest?

Hey Gaile, I don't mean to mean forward about this, but it seems a lot of people have come to you asking for this or that feature to be added to the game via your talk page. Perhaps it would be an idea to have someone come up with a stylish notice which could be affixed to the top of your talk page instructing those who wish to request such features to bring up the issue in that subject's talk page (eg. Mursaat). --Jamie (Talk Page) 20:20, 4 April 2007 (EDT)

How would Gaile know to look at a certain talk page? Maybe a Q&A page? -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 20:24, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
I'm just going on the feedback I've seen on the talk page, Scourage, if you read above at some sections like the Mursaat section, you'll see what I mean. It's not necessarily Gaile, it's all ANet Devs, but Gsile specifically has been receiving this kind of attention, I believe a notice as mention in the original post would help this. However yes a specific page for gamer requests would make ANet's job a little easier, much like the game suggestion forums on the fan sites. --Jamie (Talk Page) 20:28, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
Yes I read the topic on the Mursaat, I'm just saying that, for example, If I had an issue with a skill, "Scourge Healing", If I put my concern/suggestion on that page how will Gaile ever find it, How will Gaile know to look there? The wiki is a big place after all. -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 20:34, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
We should for a 'post suggestions here' page. -- Gem (gem / talk) 20:39, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
I do think suggestions would be better in one of the Fansite forums. I believe it would be good to add a note to the top of this page saying that Gaile is not the one to talk to if a player found a bug in the game, or had any kind of technical problem, or was scammed. The same notice could have have a tag saying that the best place to post suggestions is in one of the fansites, that are often read by Gaile and the other members of her staff, instead of in this talk page. Erasculio 20:43, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
Even if other fansites would fit the role better, there will still be people who want to suggest stuff at the wiki. A suggestion article would take the stugg out from the talk pages of the ANet employees. -- Gem (gem / talk) 02:55, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
I think you may be right, Jamie. I really can't respond to questions about Guild Wars: Eye of the North or Guild Wars 2 on this discussion page, at least at this point. As the individual articles are built, I will be reading and trying to help with info when possible, but then, hopefully the whole community will be doing that. :) For now, there are better places then a discussion page as the first source for information, it's true. Suggestions are best placed in a fan forum where they benefit from the input and discussion of others. Questions about account support or about game bugs should be sent to Support for the fastest and most efficient assistance.
I sure do want and intend to continue to visit with people on these pages, but perhaps a notice about placement of some topics would be a good idea. I just am not sure what to say that doesn't sound a little off-putting. :-/ --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:36, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
I think you should just rephrase what you've said to users already, each comment was worded nicely and not in the least bit off-putting. - BeXoR 00:42, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
This sounds like a familiar conversation ;) Yeah, I don't think you need any help in producing a notice, Gaile. Your responses so far have been very diplomatic and fair, and I think people will see how genuine you are if you produce the notice yourself. I wouldn't worry about being off-putting; many people don't realise that you aren't able to answer support questions, or obscure lore questions. As I said before, if you think it would be best, only discourage support questions in your notice, and move lore questions to the relevant article with a note. LordBiro 05:53, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Well, LordBiro kindly created a talk page notice to help people get comfortable with placement of various matters, from support to news to feedback. I think it works, but invite feedback. If it's too jarring -- if it seems off-putting to have that notice ^ up there, let me know! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:40, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

Thanks

Just thought I'd say thank you for wading through the spamming, and answering my questions about Guilda II and the GWW graphical link. It warms my heart to know you answered my question. :D -- DяấĢő 20:04, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

My pleasure. :) (Thanks for the reminder about the graphical link!) It was a little spammy today, but then, it usually is. ;) How cool it was to come into the game and see a full screen of people saying "Thanks for the update," and "Tell the team they rock" and "We love the Dev Team!" I saved a screenshot of that. I need to find it to pass to the rest of the team. Many of them worked long hours to prepare the Amazing April Update and, while I've already sent around collected forum posts, it's good fun to share more positive thoughts -- they mean so much to all of us. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 23:51, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

email, April 7th

Greetings Gaile. Can you look at your emails from April 7th and find one that ends with "May Lyssa's blessings walk with you always"? I haven't heard anything yet, and it'd be great if I can get a response, regardless of what the response says. Thanks (-: -PanSola 04:20, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

I think I sent you an email recently too. At least to the "email this user" email. - BeX 05:08, 19 April 2007 (EDT)
If you want to follow up on an email, I don't mind at all. Keep in mind I deal with more than a hundred emails in an average day, so sometimes one is going to fall through the cracks, with my apologies. Please either forward me a copy or send me a date/time reference and I will try to look it up and respond. I figure emails are emails and wiki articles are wiki articles and we should try to keep them separate and organized. Thanks. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:07, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

Mini Jade Armor

Ermm, if I'm not mistking, you don't have a miniature Jade Armor jet, at least i don't see one on the pictures on your page. I don't know if those are all your mini's or you have more left but havn't got a picture of them. If you don't have it, i have one for you, since it's pretty wortheless, you can have it for free if you wan't. If you wan't it just PM me ingame on: Sir Merry or leave a message on my talk page.—Merry File:MerrySig.jpg(talk | contribs) 14:11, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

Global Warming

I've noticed on the front of PC gamer that the GW2 logo is set infront of a map, which happens to be tyria, but where the northern shiverpeaks are there is no snow, Has global warming affected Tyria aswell? are they using up to much wood to make our armors? (Sneaky Take a Bow 16:09, 6 April 2007 (EDT))

Will Gaile start getting Pyrebound insignias so she can walk around on a normal day? Armond 06:10, 14 April 2007 (EDT)
Will Gaile's character survive two hundred years? (But the way, I loved the global warming/armour theory, STaB.) -- Dashface User Dashface.png 03:39, 19 April 2007 (EDT)
If you look again there is plently of snow in the southern shiverpeaks and only small portion of the map is shown there, so northern shiverpeaks are not included Biz

Hey

If I knew you were collecting miniatures I could have gave you like 6 or 7 because i tried my collection but sold it. Also I can try and give you some stuff for your quest for sweet tooth title because I'm trying to get too. So far I'm at 62 or something like that. Hellbringer 21:04, 12 April 2007 (CST)

There is a list around, somewhere. I have only skimmed it, have not placed it in my memory, and that's the truth. You see, there are levels of gifts, as you are familiar with from Year 1. I'm more than afraid I will develop a preternatural desire for some of the hardest to achieve or acquire. So I'm more like you -- I'm just looking forward to The Big Day, and I'm sure that whatever comes along will be terrific. There is this one, thought, that... ;) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:18, 25 April 2007 (EDT)

I sort of knew when I offered to engage in some backscenes event machinations I would end up dead--multiple times! I found it pretty darn amusing, and as I bounced from district to district, the Mursaat seemed to have me clearly on their radar, as the time between my zoning and my death shortened greatly.
