International cultural references

Hmm well some Canadian references I can think of offhand (other than the Poutine which is darn tasty) would maybe be a reference to Rick Mercer's "Talking to Americans" series. It makes Canadians feel a little bit better about being next door to such a powerhouse when we hear Average Joe American say things like "Congratulations, Canada, for finally legalizing toothpaste!" Not an exact quote but it's real close. A miniature Moose or Beaver would be awesome. A reference to the Bluenose schooner, maple syrup, anything from Strange Brew, frozen food, Canadian bacon, or burning down prominent enemy buildings during times of war. Our "Monopoly" money where each bill is a different colour. Perhaps some Inuksuk and/or totem poles out around some zones, NPC's that actually explain what they mean, and some cape emblem designs more clearly Inuit & First Nations inspired. Maybe something along the lines of the snake in Monkey Island 3? —Ebany Salmonderiel 21:07, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Im sorry if this sounds racist but i would like to see for canada an NPC that ends ever sentence with "aye", that'd be funny, i.e "Go find Master Togo Aye, and get the crazy Purplish shining object Aye, Good Luck aye" :P Crazy 08:03, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
I think you mean "eh". And the funny thing is, we do say it. A LOT. Eh? :D Kokuou 21:10, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
I'd love to see some refrences to cold Canadian winters, something like a refrence to the far off land of Canadia, and it's hard cold winters. :) Hoki could also be mentioned. :D UserDrago-sig.gif Drago 23:59, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Have a mention in Ascalon City of how the Wintersday Tradition of the Norn is to put metal blades on their feet, slide around on a slick surface of ice with a wooden scythe and using the "blade" to try to get an Onyx Gemstone to the other side of the rink. And, at random times they stop playing the game and brawl with each other for a while. --Valentein 00:12, 23 November
Cute idea! :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:18, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
ha ha ha i love that idea, very nice port to guild wars style aswell :) 10 Points Crazy 01:46, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Hahaaaa would love a minigame like that this year for wintersday along with snowball arenas :) -Warior kronos 02:36, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
I think it would be pretty cool to have a fighting tournement, similar to the Bison one, where it is pvp and teams of 4 or so using a skills template that is all the same (i.e. like during snowball fights), where the 4 players have to battle through 4 different teams, each having to win a round beforehand to reach a chest at the end that would drop a gold offhand item that was req 9 for primary attributes, +30hp, "Survival of the Fittest" inscription. It would be an excellent reference to the Stanley Cup playoffs. It could also be programmed that it only drops upon the first completion of it, and subsequent times it could drop alcohol (like a spoof on Molson's Canadian - Rurik's Ascalonian, D'Alessio's Krytan could be a joke about Frank D'Angelo's beer commercials featuring retired hockey greats like Phil Esposito), or food - any kind of food, potato chips if you want to take a stab at Mark Messier and the contest with Lays potato chips he has during the playoffs, or something silly like that. Just a random thought I had reading that old comment. LunchboxOctober 00:47, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

How about naming a minor dragon boss Ogopogo[1] after the legendary lake monster of lake Okanagan (FF IV already did it) or a consumable like the Beaver Tail pastry[2] PS Hockey mini game would rock.SirFranz 04:05, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

They could officially name "Drakkar" Ogopogo XD. --Curse YouCurse You(talk|contribs) 02:35, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Quebec

For Quebec references, I'd like to see one of the chefs offer a poutine or two chefs getting involved in the tourtière/meat pie debate. Another good reference would be to the only movie who beat Titanic on release week-end : "Les Boys". Also a Jean Chrétien look alike, or one that talks like him, mixing french and english words to make something as delightful as the classic (supposedly said to the pope): "May I kiss your bague?" (bague being a ring in French) - Zahra 23:50, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
