why are you guys so bad at your job?

Is because Anet is to cheap to hire a "real" live team now that GW is dying, or do guys not give a damn about your job because your only real job is to keep the current players content enough long enough for them to buy GW2?

Get more of a life than posting baseless ad hominems on a wiki discussion page. This is pathetic. 141.165.171.12 05:02, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
The first guys got a point , when was the last serious update, and dont say war in kryta cause a costume and some peace keepers isnt a major update. 77.102.52.40
The gw1 live team is poor due to most/all of them working on gw2. --Neil2250 , Render Lord User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 13:53, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Frikking trolls. Get good. BlazeRick 14:06, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Q.Q --Q.Q 14:39, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Yeh they might be trolls but its the truth, i never see regina reply to comments or even bother goin online for that matter. and there are still a number of people working on gw1 so dont say or there all on gw2

There is no money to fund all of that. Unlike WoW, GW does not collect a monthly fee and can't fund constant content upgrades. I'm also sure that regina is plenty busy enough. --Lania ElderfireUser Lania Elderfire pinkribbon.jpg 19:13, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Talk about keeping players busy till new content comes out. It's Blizzard business model. And don;t respond to me anomonously, that makes you as much as a troll. BlazeRick 19:18, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi people, remember about not making personal attacks, which applies in regards to ArenaNet users as well. Anonymous/unregistered users are welcome to contribute as much as registered users. pling User Pling sig.png 19:25, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Goddamnit, if you're gonna troll then bring your freakin A-game. Everyone sees it here and you're just giving non-shitty trolls a bad rap. --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 19:26, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
you guys need to calm it down, i find that the current live team is quite good at their job tbh. Do you realize the sheer mass of what they deal with every day? between reports, bug reports, and even thinking of new content their day is already full, thats not even thinking about the massive update they're working on atm they have their plates full, if you are only here to rage the staff i suggest u delete your account, and stop playing the game. Honestly, do not come here to make PAs --User The Scythe Has Fallen Sig.png Fallen Scythe (talk) 19:42, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
o and btw, if you think they're so bad at it, why dont you take over?, yeah im sure there will be sooooo much balance after --User The Scythe Has Fallen Sig.png Fallen Scythe (talk) 19:47, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Bots

If you guys really love this game, you will do something about bots. This website[1] is full of bots and many, many players are starting to use it. This is getting pretty ridiculous. Wicca 01:45, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

I don't understand all the hate on bots anyway. I have one that vacuums my room, does that mean I'm "cheating" at life? A game where a bot can outperform a player is evidence it's a button-mashing contest, that's all. If the game relied on skill instead of reflexes and predefined skill orders, bots wouldn't work. –Jette 08:21, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Like you'll get any results, especially when some bots are legal anyway. -- Tha Reckoning 08:49, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Looking at previous replies and at how long it's been going on, I doubt they will do something about it. Even if they could. I think that's a bigger problem, they can't. BlazeRick 11:28, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
If you don't stop them, sooner or later we will end up connected to The Matrix, version GW. I liked the Japan Edo period version better, so please stop them.MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 14:22, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

*Bump* ...Glad this wasn't archived yet. A sincere Thank You to Anet for listening to the most vocal parts of the community, IE: Here & Guru on this issue and then actually acting on it. I'm not a PvP'er so it wasn't affecting me, but it's great to see that the issue was given full undivided attention and resources were put behind it. It really reaffirms that Anet fully understands and then Acts upon the reality that they are in a Customer Service industry. --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 23:52, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Hello all. I already know that, for obvious reasons, the means used for bot detection can't and won't be revealed here, but in any case, should we be afraid to farm? I mean, that is a pretty repetitive process including timed skill activation, going in and out of a zone many times, and so on. (Basically the kind of repetitive pattern an automated countermeasure program can detect) I'm pretty confident I'm not the only one facing such doubts, so, could you please enlighten me on the subject. Also, is a human intervention involved in the ban process or is it fully automated? Is there any way to appeal for those who deem themselves innocent? Meredy Redleaf 08:23, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) " Few botters ever admit to their actions, but few who are marked for botting are innocent. We have more than 20 parameters that are carefully reviewed (by a human being) before a bot ban is placed. It takes a lot to get a reversal because of the care that is taken at the outset. In other words, if your account is marked for botting, it's almost 100% certain that you were, indeed, botting, whether you choose to admit it or not." <---- Gaile. Anyway, if you get wrongfully nailed for botting, just open up a ticket with support. -- Tha Reckoning 08:41, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for this quick answer, I'll pass this to my old guild buddies / FL who have seen their accounts banned. (I'm pretty sure they were using G15 keyboard macros...) and let them sort this out. Any other information about the farming? Meredy Redleaf 10:04, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Support does nothing... They'll give an automated response, they don't read what you have to say and i feel screwed... Sjacie User:Sjacie 07:00, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
If you botted then it's your own fault. InfestedHydralisk 13:50, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

GW2

"In Guild Wars 1 ... we designed PvP to be focused on player skill. Nobody should have an advantage just because they played longer than others."

Then where do you need PvP for? This explains these latest balance updates though. InfestedHydralisk 23:55, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

It means that they want you to have the same skills/equipment/level as other players, removing the usual PvP issues of going up against a user who is 5 levels above you and has better skills, thus insuring your death. --Kairu 13:40, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Uh, in normal PvP in GW2 you have the same level. Skills/equipment/level does not have to do anything with player skill. InfestedHydralisk 14:58, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, if you are just talking about World PvP, in which you'll supposedly will enter with your own gear and levels unlike in competitive PvP, then we'll need PvP... to fight against other with your character as it is. Like duels and such. Do you really expect player killing in GW2? "Look, I'm a level 10, I'm here getting mashed by level 100 pubbers that think that has any merit or fun! Yay!" That doesn't sound much like GW. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 17:14, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
No, GvG way of PvP. If there is just easy faceroll stuff in it then I'm not buying it. :/ InfestedHydralisk 17:23, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
They have stated that there will be two main modes of PvP. One with your gear and stats, and one with everyone turning into the same level and all gear becoming balanced. I suppose it would be as if your character turned into a PvP character when entering there. Then, when it comes to per-area rulesets such as Random Arena, GvG, etc... I've read nothing yet. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 18:06, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
I'm not talking about gear, I am mainly directing towards skills which is highly important for skilled play. InfestedHydralisk 18:13, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
I mean, look at what kind of updates we are getting. You don't need to be skilled to use those skills. You can just roll your face over the keyboard and win. InfestedHydralisk 18:14, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Wtb Izzy back, tbh, he's the lesser of the evils. IH has a point, if this is the kind of shit we have to look forward to, where the company is going to cater to the masses of illiterate people, then there's no point for anyone interested in competition to buy the game. They could have come up with yet another single player rpg for the xbox for less trouble, if that's the kind of game they want to make. -- Tha Reckoning 18:31, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
GW1 had arenas with level caps to manage that scenario Mith. Hydra, GW2 is very obviously pve driven...Anet is not longer pushing for an e-sport. Its very clear with their current marketing and comparisons to a "standard MMO" (they say that instead of saying WoW so they don't get sued) its clear the WoW, RoM, Perfect World pve driven MMO customer (possibly even the Bioware RPG customer) is who they desire to gear the new game towards. If you're looking for a competitive game in the manner that gvg and such for GW1 used to be, you might want to stick with Starcraft and Starcraft 2. --*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 20:27, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
^ That's what I'll be doing, along with countless other customers turned away by Anet. -- Tha Reckoning 20:29, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
StarCraft 2 will be fun because of all the delightful Kerrigan fetish fuel. Gameplay will be mediocre, and it will only take about 3 months for a team of software "engineers" doing lines of coke off a toilet in some Puerto Rican hellhole to reassemble a version that just connects to the old Battle.net servers so you can play StarCraft 1 in 2560*1600, as it was intended. In the meantime, we should play a real competitive game, like Magic. Alpha through 5e only. –Jette 20:41, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
SC2 is proooo game. InfestedHydralisk 21:21, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
I miss creep, personally. This new creep is so "hurr durr realistic" or whatever. I want cheesy purple-pink sludge back. –Jette 21:28, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
They need to give the Ultralisk a more manly voice. InfestedHydralisk 21:29, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
There is balance when both sides are equal. You can't really balance PvE, and when it comes to PvP... well, if you can play by mashing the keyboar with your elbows, it will be balanced as long as both sides have the same chances to win when they have access to the same skills and similar elbow-mashing skills. But remember that skills will be different in GW2. You'll have access to less skills, and with more limited distribution, so balancing that would be much easier. And I hope they go again with PvE/PvP separation of skills, to keep balancing clean. No need to be useless against a a pack of 14 hostile NPCs in PvE so you won't be too much against 4 players in PvP. I also hope the PvP areas that allow players with different levels request at least a minimum level, since we know that after a certain level, the increase in power will be much smaller. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 22:08, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Y'all seem to have missed the biggest X-factor of all in RvR (world) PvP ...while somehow derailing into something that shouldn't have even come up. That X-factor is that they're actually touting the fact that you can have 100 vs 10 fights in RvR. Why would they do that unless they had some kind of plan to balance out Zerging? IoW: applying the Law of Ninjas somehow which would totally overshadow your level-matchups and make everything depend more on how many projectiles or skills the Zerg team could dodge or mitigate individually. If you HAVE to keep it in Starcrack terms, then the Zerg team is 100% Hydralisks rushing a bunker'd chokepoint with siege tanks and some Sci vessels just dropped 8 irradiates. Your Zerg have 2 options: scatter and flank, or die horribly. Sheer Numbers mean NOTHING in this situation. --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 23:18, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

I for one am concerned about this and actually do prefer player skill. Currently GW is getting skill updates that make it just too easy to play, without really knowing what you are doing. I don't want GW2 to end up the same way. InfestedHydralisk 01:56, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
So you are complaining before knowing anything about the PvP or skill structure of the game? Heck, we only know two of the professions. Wait for more info before you start these types of things. And to the statement way up there about GW2 being PvE oriented only, that's not true. They are holding back PvP info deliberately. PvP is still a very large part of the game, and I do believe they are still going the e-sport rout. (I don't have a source, I'm too lazy to look through the large number of interviews) --Kairu 03:34, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
We know about Anet's current job at balancing, something to worry about. 68.93.109.105 03:56, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
