- Custom chat filters have been improved.
- Added hot-reloading of ChatFilter.ini. Changes will automatically be picked up on save.
- Unicode characters are supported. Please ensure ChatFilter.ini is saved using Unicode or UTF16 (with BOM) encoding.
- Added a new type of filter, which can filter by word instead of just substring.
- Whispers that are suppressed no longer play the incoming whisper audio cue.
File Syntax:
[ChatFilter] BadText = Suppress, Any ; Suppress any message that contains this text anywhere. Example: (This BadTexting text -> DELETED!). BadWörd = Censor, Word ; Censor this bad word. Example: (What a Unicode BadWörd -> What a Unicode -------)

- The port for connecting to the log-in servers has been changed from 6600 to 6112 to be consistent with our other servers.
- The support URLs on the log-in screen have been updated.

- Customized items that are bound to characters that have had their name changed will now be fixed after logging in with that character.

- Fixed a bug that could cause map loading screens to get stuck at 0% completion.

- Fixed an issue preventing some Windows XP users from logging in.
- The game client will now properly relaunch when the user is prompted to elevate to administrator privileges.
- The minion dialog will now display based on characters and maintain size and placement.

- The Minions panel will now remain open after map changes.
- Fixed the dye panel camera.

- Made improvements to help with log-in issues.
- Fixed a client crash when trying to log in.
- Added a new error code, 248, for when the game is unable to initialize the log-in system. This is usually the result of an antivirus system or an incompatible operating system. Guild Wars requires that you run Windows XP or later.

Graphics[edit]
- Added an Ultra shadow setting.
- Doubles the distance, doubles the resolution, and quadruples the amount of dynamic shadows.
- The fog/haze when using the Advanced graphics options has been slightly modified.
- The game client restarts properly into Windowed Fullscreen when switching from Fullscreen to Windowed Fullscreen.

- Performed server maintenance.
- The loading screen fade has been sped up slightly.
- The game client will no longer increase CPU usage while in the background.
- This also improves the -fps option CPU usage.
- The installer has been improved when uninstalling and reinstalling to another location.
- The Lakeside County gate to the Northlands will stay open twice as long when its lever is activated.
Camera[edit]
- Added a new Field of View slider.
- Field of View now uses a vertical calculation—previously diagonal—which will result in a much better view of the world on widescreen and ultra widescreen monitors.
- The old Field of View can be reenabled by using the new -oldfov command line argument.
- Added a rotation speed slider.
- Slightly increased the responsiveness of camera rotation.
- The camera maximum zoom-out distance has been slightly increased.
Chat[edit]
- Added an option to show chat timestamps for chat log entries.
- Whispers will no longer be lost while loading maps or switching characters.
- The chat log history has been doubled.
- The chat log will no longer clear on map change or switching characters.
Two-Factor Authentication[edit]
- Displays correct error when trying to log in from an unauthorized network.
- Command line parameters "-newauth" and "-oldauth" are now ignored.
Additional notes[edit]
- Fixed a bug that would result in UI customizations and keybindings to be reset to defaults.
- Two Factor Authentication: added a dialog window in the login screen to enter the two factor authentication code for your login session.

Bug fixes[edit]
- Fixed a bug when ALT+Tabbing the client in Fullscreen mode wouldn’t mute audio while using the "Mute game audio while the client is in the background" option.
- Fixed a desync when ALT+Tabbing the client in Fullscreen mode for long periods of time would cause rubber banding and teleportation of other creatures and players.
- Note: This was additional improvements on top of the previous fix put in place in the last update.
- Fixed a client crash on exit.

Graphics Improvements[edit]
- Windowed Fullscreen now works on any monitor. It uses the monitor that the majority of the window is on.
- Added the -lodfull command line argument back. This functions the exact same as it did prior to the May 9th update.
- The game client now properly clamps itself to the monitor it is primarily in while in windowed mode.
- Note: The client will perfectly clamp to the monitor when toggling from Windowed Fullscreen to Windowed mode.
Chat[edit]
- Fix an issue with the new whisper ignore option that caused it to ignore whispers from friends sent from alternate characters of the same account.
Help & Support[edit]
- Updated the URLs in the F10 menu.
Installer & Patching[edit]
- Automatically request elevation to admin when trying to install or patch the game and it doesn't have the right permissions to do so.
- Note: Requires the client to be updated to the new build before this change takes affect for any future updates.
- The installer on www.guildwars.com will be updated to the new client.
Bug fixes[edit]
- Local preferences will now always be saved on exit, fixing issues such as graphics options not persisting.
- Fix a desync when the game is Alt+Tabbed or minimized, causing creatures to teleport after the game is restored.
- Fix a client hang when restoring the client from being ALT+Tabbed or minimized for a long period of time.
- The game will now have a 60fps max framerate while the game isn't "active". This means when the client doesn't have focus or isn't being rendered (minimized, Alt+Tabbed).

- Increased the maximum number of active minipets allowed in outposts.
Graphics improvements[edit]
- Added windowed Fullscreen support.
- Added a new 8X MSAA anti-aliasing option.
- The “Use best texture filtering” option will now take advantage of 16x Anisotropic filtering.
- A new “Advanced” option checkbox has been added to the Graphics options panel. This will replace the “-lodfull” command line option that was added recently.
- Model LODs will always use the highest available LOD (Level Of Detail), regardless of distance, including the disabling of “imposter” models.
- The max draw distance will be doubled. Ground cover vegetation draw distance will be pushed out even further.
- Terrain LODs will almost always draw in highest.
- Note: Full changes won’t take effect until changing maps.
Chat[edit]
- A new option has been added to suppress Whisper messages from players that don’t meet the following criteria:
- Party member, friend, active trade partner, or recent party/team member.
- You may now /report directly in the whisper chat window without needing to type the character name.
- Reporting players is still restricted to the same district that you’re in.
- Custom chat filters are now possible. To use this feature, you must create a ChatFilter.ini file. The file will be placed in the
%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Guild Wars
folder. The file layout is as follows:

Friends list[edit]
- The maximum number of friends and ignored players has been doubled to 100 and 20 respectively.
Party search[edit]
- Added a Report button to the party search dialog.
Bug fixes[edit]
- Fixed an issue where your character’s LOD drops when zooming out the camera.
- Fixed an issue where the game client becomes unresponsive when it gets minimized or sent to the background.

- Fixed a client crash related to the new “Whispers from friends, teammates and trade partners only” option.

- If you experience any issues with shortcuts, make sure to remove the -lodfull argument. This argument has been removed, and may cause issues for some setups.
