Guild Wars Wiki talk:Requests for adminship/Ariyen
Is this SitaJolie person a RL friend of Ariyen? Koda Kumi 19:01, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Or a sock account, only 2 edits for that account, both involving this. personn5 19:07, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

- This is where you follow GWW:AGF. The fact that Ariyen is a relatively new user, to me, indicates she just might have some new friends as well. Given that anyone (including IP's) can comment on RfA's there is no reason to worry about this. As always, on RfA's the outcome is ultimately by the Bureacrats' judgment of the statements given. -- Wyn talk 09:52, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

- Not to be rude or anything, but does it matter? It's 2 votes and as far as I'm aware they're allowed their vote. Karate Jesus 15:34, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Kind of irrelevant whether or not you asked him anyway, only relevant thing here is his reasoning for support. As far as I know, sorting out what is relevant and how relevant it is would be the job Tanetris, Pling and I have to do. For reasons I can't comprehend this RfA seems to have been cast in a bad light. Just because there have been some less than serious RfAs recently doesn't mean every RfA should be approached with skepticism. As far as I can fathom, this is in earnest. Do people maybe want to give Ariyen a little breathing room and make up their own minds how they wish to vote? Misery 15:36, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

- Any person who does not know his/her limits should not be a sysop. 152.226.7.201 04:03, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
hokay (food for thought)[edit]
The best possible sysop team is a balanced one - sysops offering a diverse range of skills and viewpoints, none of them more important or "correct" than another. In the past, the sysop crew was decidedly carebear-biased; the list had biro, lemming64, wyn, xas, anja, bexor, etc. Now, the tables have turned. There are very few active sysops who would fit the carebear archetype; often, it's just Wyn, and so she takes a lot of the flak that would normally be spread to multiple people.
I see this as a weakness in the team. Wyn should not be singled out, as she has been in recent times (not saying she didn't deserve all of it, but that's really another discussion entirely). We need more active sysops to balance out the team - more Wyn-like sysops. More carebears, basically. That is largely the reason I swapped my vote to support.
Ariyen might not be the one. Many oppose votes are perfectly valid, and users have linked to situations that Ariyen handled poorly. But I feel the need to address the community at large and request that you come up with some decent new sysops to keep the sysop team balanced. If you like the team how it is, it's your choice to keep it that way. But I feel that we need one or two more carebears on the team to tip the balance back to normal. -Auron 16:55, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

- Fancy a long time wiki admin/bcrat/whatever needing me to tell him the difference between a "pure" bcrat, and an "impure" sysop/bcrat. Pika Fan 17:15, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) There are many different types of carebears, you know. -- FreedomBound 17:09, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Misery, you ARE a carebear to a certain extent whether you choose to admit or not. Also <3 pos. Pika Fan 17:11, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

- To be honest, I wouldn't not call some of the active-active sysops carebears - it's just that only two or three of them are actually doing both day-to-day stuff and discretion stuff, so it's not unexpected that they're the ones taking the flak. I'm not particularly worried about the balance of the current sysops. -- pling 09:36, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
