Hopping Vampires are extremely dangerous creatures that kill their targets in one hit.
- Hopping Vampires that spawn at the beginning of the mission do not drop loot, but ones later on do. Previously, players farmed Hopping Vampires by using decoys such as spirits to sacrifice themselves upon, and their drops were removed in response.
- The term hopping vampire is likely a reference to the colloquial term for the Chinese mythological creature, commonly Romanised as jiangshi, "stiff corpse." Although they were quite similar before the evolution of the Western vampire myth during and after the mid 19th century, hopping vampires bear little resemblance (aesthetic or otherwise) to their western "cousins" today. They were said to drain life force (rarely blood) from their victims, and were stiff with rigor mortis, hence their odd choice of locomotion.
