Outside Sunspear Great Hall[edit]
If you take a Black Moa to the trainer outside Sunspear Great Hall apparently all the NPCs run away! - BeXoR 05:55, 13 April 2007 (EDT)
- Yeah it's true I did it with my assasin back when NF was released. Kinda cool but not really worth taming a Moa Bird to see though. Nice easter egg. Dancing Gnome 12:12, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Now the menagerie is release the easter egg doesn't seem to work any more. With my ranger or my ele who capped it.84.28.18.220 20:10, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- Pretty sure you're wrong. It just worked with my menagerie capped Black Moa that is on my Koss. Itsmattknox 21:43, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
more than one?[edit]
is there more than one black moa or is there just one chance to get it in beak of darkness? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:162.40.173.141 .
No, once you finish the quest, one spawns every instance. Makes this thing a real "elite" pet. GJ Arenanet...--68.192.188.142 22:54, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Can i still tame the black moa even know im luxon not kurzick ?
yes, you can. lussh 12:04, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm getting this.[edit]
I was planning on doing GW:EN -> Proph -> Factions -> NF but I'm gonna have to unlock this then continue on GW:EN. I don't find a mega use of pets on primary non-Rangers but still good to show off. Ninjas In The Sky 19:31, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Why would you start with Eye of the North? — ク Eloc 貢 06:06, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- I just like EotN more, the NF african theme and the ruins/jungles in Proph are creepy. I've done Factions already. Also, GWEN is easier to get elites from. Thanks to it I completed my Shock Axe build. But this isn't for this talk page :P. Ninjas In The Sky 07:37, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, I'd have to say NF was my least favourite and Prophecies or Factions was my fav. We can move this to mine or your talk page if you want? — ク Eloc 貢 19:38, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- I am not a good wikier, but I'd love if we can discuss how much the NF themes and storline suck somewhere :) U can move it anywhere you like. I'm afraid to "Ctrl + X" it or something like that. Ninjas In The Sky 18:56, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, i'm not a fan of NF background music, but like them all. I also don't like factions less than other campaigns, but it's a pity that the pve part is only that small. (I someday read on a talk page "Tetris has more PvE features than Factions" :P) {{move}}, anyone? —ZerphaThe Improver 19:03, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Tyvm, Zerpha. You're right, the FC PvE part is small, but (for example) some people don't like spending monts trying to get to lvl 20. Also, getting a Survivor title is easy in factions due to the high exp rewards. Ok, now all we have to do is decide where to move this. To tell you the truth I SUCK at wiki-coding ad formatting. I'm afraid to do anything, because I don't want to vandalise anything. Ninjas In The Sky 19:17, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well i don't look that much at the facts how fast you grow level 20 in the diffrent campaigns, it's a rather little issue i think :P It's possibly easier for the survivor title, yeah. But getting this one has gotten easy with Journey to the North and Fronis Irontoe's Lair anyways. idk where to move it, Talk:Campaign is possibly also the wrong place, i suppose this section would be in best hands of someones user page... —ZerphaThe Improver 19:43, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Extinction[edit]
Hmm.. this bird once ocupied New Zealand, shame on the Maori people for killing ALL of them!
- We still have kiwis, though, so they aren't all bad. Vili 20:00, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
You're right. And the young black moas look like kiwis, don't they? I am guilty of mistaking one for a kiwi! Eryops3 17:57, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Ice aGE[edit]
hunting game called carnivores ice age the bird this is absed on not mopa but the other oen u can hunt somehtgin liek it--Lord randy taylor 03:54, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- Pardon? -- Salome 13:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
I think hes saying: Hunting game called carnivores ice age, the bird this is based on, not moa, but the other one you can hunt, something like it. Apparently he thinks the moa's from this game is based on a bird from that game. 24.233.254.51 19:02, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- nods head* Thanks for the translation. Well in response to the OP, no. ;) -- Salome 19:06, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- Probably a Phorusrhacid / terror bird, see the notes section. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 05:54, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
This bird is called the terror bird, and yes, I agree. They lived on South America until Smilodon (Saber-toothed tiger) became the top predator when they moved to the area and drove them to extinction. I believed they lived like 5,000 years ago or so. The terror bird was a raptite, or a species of flightless bird, and looked like an early ostrich, though they were carnivorous. Thanks for the translation. Please, no more chat speak. Eryops3 18:01, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- That isn't chat speak, it's simply bad spelling. Except for the "u" and maybe the "liek" at least. Paddymew 12:49, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Luxon/Kurzick[edit]
Okay so my guild is the luxon alliance. How can i get the black moa If i am from the luxon side?илья 03:38, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- Being in a Luxon-aligned guild doesn't prevent you from entering Kurzick territory or accepting quests from Kurzick NPCs. Take the Journey to House zu Heltzer quest from Jamei in Maatu Keep, then take The Beak of Darkness from Rutger zu Heltzer in House zu Heltzer. Or unlock one from Helena in the Zaishen Menagerie Grounds for 3 or 30000 Balthazar Faction. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 10:39, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Moa not Moas[edit]
There is no "s" in the Maori language, therefore i would have thought the correct plural would be moa.--SeanU 13:33, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- And did the Maori speak english? [1] Pariahtalk 00:55, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- And for that matter, how do you know Tyrians speak either language? It's a fantasy universe, the plural can be whatever they want it to be. Alkerio 03:28, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Black Moa Level[edit]
I recently tamed the Black Moa and noticed that is was already a level 20 pet. I then shortly after went to add it to my menagerie and when I did this they didn't give me credit for every evolution of the pet. I got everything under level 20 plus a level 20 elder Moa. Now do I just need to gain experience with my moa and this will change and how will I know? How much experience would be required if this is the case and do I wait for it to say "Hearty Black Moa"? Do I need to get rid of my moa and tame a level 5 from the menagerie? I find it odd that nothing is posted on here about this. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Cinnamongod (talk).
- Make a hearty at level 16 and train it. Paddymew 07:08, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Different sized level 20 Black Moa(s)[edit]
I charmed a Black Moa during the quest The Beak of Darkness. When I bought it to the Menagerie and asked Wynn to see other evolutions of the pet I realised that my charmed Black Moa was smaller than the others that Wynn created. Anyone know why this is? --Butterfly 14:26, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Pacifist Moa?[edit]
So... My Black Moa isn't attacking anything. I've had pets before on different character but never had this problem. I first noticed it doing the mission Elona Reach, I had just capped it, displayed it in the hall, then went directly to Elona Reach. I was playing as an ele, so I though, okay, it's possible I'm out of range or something. I dunno, sounded plausible in the heat of battle. But even when I ran up right next to the enemies, my moa would just trot around them, being harmed by aoe and having no regard for its safety. I checked its setting, it was on Guard, which means it SHOULD be attacking. I tried locking its target, and it would attack then, but would go back to not attacking as soon as the enemy had died. Is this normal for them, or is it a bug that is possibly unreported? Or is he purposely ignoring me because he doesn't like me? Should I perhaps get attacked by a group of Nehdukah birds so I can protect it and gain its trust? What should I do if the Stone Summit try to take it away from me? And finally, is it possible for Moa to evolve without the use of stones? Alkerio 02:36, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Pets Normally dont attack foes inless you set its target, auto attack, or get attacked youself antil Swift 04:25, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Does the black moa count as a "rare" pet?[edit]
For the Hall of Heroes calculator, does this count as "rare".?
- The GW2 rewards calculator counts it as rare, so i beleive that it is a "rare" (Jaxx Hammer)--173.16.56.248 21:07, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
