new festival headgear for this year yet? 24.233.254.51 20:41, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

My guess would be another one of the masks used by the actors during the missions as the last 2 dragon fests have been the demon mask and grasp mask and its unlikely that they would go in a completely differnt direction by doing something out of the blue since all their resorces are going toward gw2 but that just my guess --Azreal of SkyrimUser Azreal of skyrim signature.jpg 23:46, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

According to friends of mine (I was wrong earlier, I forget where), Kisu is going to show up, do some...deal. Depending on how you respond, if you have a stack of 250 Victory Tokens in your hand (Just one!) he takes them and you get the mask. If you have multiple stacks, you get multiple masks. So be careful. 71.197.141.158 17:32, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Emperor Kisu shows enters from the start [near the original storage area] and gives a 3-5 min. speech [Thisis also when a stack of VTs are removed from your inventory in exchange for the mask]. He instructs users to collect the Celestial Charges that drop around Shing Jea Monastery and return them to an Imperial Sorcerer. As this is happening, Grasps of Insantiy spawn in the district. As as charge is picked up, grasps will target the player and try to steal the charge and kill the player. [Players respawn after a few seconds at a designated spawn point.] It should be noted though, that the Grasps have an increased rate of speed. It is highly recommended that you use a Sugar Rush. After 15 minutes, the game determines the winner by how many charged were collected vs how many were destroyed. Upon a win, the sorcerers will provide a brilliant display of fireworks. Upon a loss, the Grasps will rampage on the district killing everyone in sight.

Notes:
  • Sometimes Grasps don't disappear after then event. The become unhostile and roam the district. The problem with this is when the next event starts, there's more Grasps then planned, causing the finale to be much harder.
  • Dropping a charge before a Grasp gets to you will make them stop following you. Be sure to use this when running them.
  • There have been times in the past, that if you drop a charge at the instant a grasp would steal it and kill you, you don't die. It creates a glitch and from then on, the grasp will follow your character around and will stop killing players. You can use this to cancel out all the grasps in order to win a district with a high score.
  • Many times in the past [in many festivals] it's been said you'll get a free minipet if you get a score over 1,000 points. This is obviously false.
-- Magic User Magic Icon.jpg Talk 18:52, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Oh.. and a quick note on Charges, the sometimes continue to drop a bit after you win/lose a district. The do "poof" after a few minutes. Grab one if you can though.. they make good screenshots. :P Magic User Magic Icon.jpg Talk 18:55, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Technically.. no. The final event is running every two hours all day long [see the schedule on the regular page]. For those who did not obtain the mask during the event can then pick it up from the Imperial Supply Master Kagno (collector) with their 250 tokens. So confused >.< it says on page "Monday, July 6 - Sunday, July 12" Q___Q thx for info. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:The Vital Spark (talk).
There are two separate ways to get the mask. One is today: be in Shing Jea Monastery at the beginning of a finale event with 250 victory tokens in your inventory, and at one point in Kisu's dialogue, he'll change your stack of tokens to a mask. The other way is that Kagno will show up starting tomorrow as a collector who trades the mask for 250 victory tokens. Same mask, same cost. The collector's just for anyone who got their victory tokens but couldn't be around for the finale events. - Tanetris 11:58, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Bug[edit]

These grasps did not 'grasp' the concept of the minigame... lol bug Koda Kumi User Koda Kumi UT.jpeg talk 13:30, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Dunno if this is similar to yours but, I've been in ad1 since the first event and the grasps seem to follow and stick to people. This is probably due to the fact that if you held a charge until it disappeared after the Emperor's mini-game was over, then the grasps would just follow and stick to those people in all of the following events. I see this because a grasp has been following/is stuck to me so I can't deliver any charges because I'd die instantly if I picked one up. FC 17:34, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Oh almost forgot, they will probably stop sticking to you if you logged out or left the district and came back, though I've done neither yet. FC 17:36, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
You should be able to pick up a charge then drop it to reset. I am the grasp herder in my district. There was a second grasp herder, but they freed up on the latest round when they picked up a charge and dropped it. I was right next to them and picked up their grasp. 74.237.9.243 18:25, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
This is a known bug. It can actually be use as a method to win the game. If you hold a charge and drop it at the last second, sometimes htey'll glitch, lose hostility, and follow you around. Actually kind of funny because then you can scare people with your new "pet". :P Magic User Magic Icon.jpg Talk 18:35, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
This bug is slightly different. I never hit the drop to drop a charge. During the first round, three of us were holding charges after the timer ran out. During the second round, we each had 1 grasp that would follow us around. We did not touch any charges until the 4th round. During the third round (a 4 grasp buggy round), only 2 of us had not zoned. I had 3 grasps on me. The other herder had 1 grasp. During the fourth round, the other herder picked up and dropped a charge. All 3 grasps stay with me now. Bugs are fun. 74.237.9.243 18:51, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Festival Prize Receiving Bug[edit]

The amount of festival prizes may be not so random at all. Not doing anything gave me 13 prizes. I then followed some rumors and opened some prizes right after they spawned. When I did this, I got another prize about ten to twenty seconds afterwards. When I missed that timespan, no additional prize appeared. Maybe someone can confirm this. Korkman 17:48, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Actually, there's been a lot of speculation about this. I don't know the truth, but this is my theory. Originally, the items didnt appear in your inventory, they randomly dropped on the ground and people raced to pick them up. But it was noted very quickly that those drops weren't random. Presents had general spawn points and each point drops x amount of presents. Now, if you stand on one of those selected points, you have a chance to get more of the presents. Also, presents seems to have an effect as to how many people in the district. The fewer the people, the more presents you'll receive. It was noted last festival that if by a lucky chance you spilled over into a new district and very very few people in it, that you could get up to 20-25 presents a run. Magic User Magic Icon.jpg Talk 18:40, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Why should the presents be attached to the spawn points anymore? Doesn't really make sense from a script's point of view. I couldn't reproduce it in a second run, but the hint with rather empty districts is possibly valid. Opening a new district at event time has often caused bugs. Maybe the script can be started twice in a single instance and it checks for recently given presents in the inventory to "kinda fix" the bug. If you open the present, though, the script loses reference and you get another one, if and only if you are in a bugged district. There. Better theory :-) Korkman 19:47, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
I've moved around in other places in a district and have gotten less presents [was this year ID1 due to lag :S]. I still say my theory is more correct. :P [Quick Edit: Don't forget, Arena.net likes to recycle scripts. So the current script is probably a modified version of the original instead of a different/new script.] Magic User Magic Icon.jpg Talk 21:11, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Still a random spawn is very different from a loop set on all attending player's inventories! I can confirm the bug now. I hopped 7 districts to find it :) When you spawn into an already prize giving district, it adds you to the loop. Apparently, sometimes twice. My former theory is proven wrong, as other players of the same district were getting prizes at the normal rate. So I think it is a timing issue.

The loop seems to be synchronized somehow, as the delay for the first prize in a new district wasn't always the same. Korkman 22:16, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry to disappoint you, I think your theory is wrong. I do have 2 accounts and both accounts were playing nine-rings in the same district and even the same field. I stood there since the beginning of the finale and on one account the character always got double amount of festival prizes. There have never been spawn-points of prizes within the game-area of the boardwalk, afaik. Moving around has no effect, since my character(s) just stood still on the pad the whole time. I did not open the prizes until the end of the finale with an approx. amount of 465 prizes, so opening the prizes immediately does not affect the total amount of prizes gained. Lucky- and/or Unlucky titles do not have any effect, because the character that got double rewards has a lower rank in lucky and same rank in unlucky title. I cannot find any parameters why one character gets double rewards whilst the other does not, only thing which is worth meantioning is: the character which got double rewards had 2 Hero's Handbook [Hard Mode] in its inventory, but I think thats just coincidence.--nabiki 10:44, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Were both accounts in the same district?Must read more carefully.. did the other account get the exact double amount? Very strange.. I expected the amount of gifts to be directly related to the amount of points by a district (perhaps divided by the amount of people)--User Karasu sig.png Karasu (talk) 11:05, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

I think the amount of prizes should always be exacly 13. You can get lucky with the double-loop bug and get 26. It can be provoked by district hopping, which itself distorts the amount of prizes given (because you enter the loop with an offset upon entering the new district). If I read Nabiki correctly, the double-loop is persistent across events. So if you're going for lucky / unlucky points and will be spending the days in the same district all day anyway, you may want to exploit the bug ;-)

To reproduce:

* Wait for a prize.
* If you get another within 20 seconds, you're in the double-loop.
* If you did't get another, move to the next district. Repeat.

NOTE that this is feasible only if you want to stay in the district all day once you encounter the bug. Also, I could reproduce the bug only once. A second try failed - I got only 6 prizes. So be warned this isn't very reliable. Korkman 22:59, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

I was switching districts to get a second going at presents and got around 10 before switching to my friend's district. The second district gave me something in the twenties. I stayed in that district to 9-ring, and found 26 new presents in my inventory after the next visit. I'm pretty sure the double loop bug is correct. 68.255.6.233 13:56, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Taking the mask[edit]

If I remember correctly, the other years, one needed to speak with Kisu to redeem his mask (to be verified). This year, they take it directly from your inventory? What if I Have 250 tokens in my inventory to go buy some creme brulées or sparkles (etc.) and then, they give me a mask I don't want or already have because I was there 2 hours ago? Plus, it should be explained on the official GuildWars.com page that it takes it directly from your inventory, without notifying you... PatouPower

It's been this way for multiple years. If you got the mask during the first event, wouldn't that tell you it would happen again if you left a stack in your inventory? Also, the wiki is part of the official site "wiki.guildwars.com". Lastly, could you please create new categories under the rest in the future. Magic User Magic Icon.jpg Talk 21:06, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, Wiki folks  :)

We've needed a countdown since forever. These festivals are always a bit tricky for me when I accidentally add too many hours to my time zone. This takes away the uncertainty. Whoever came up with the idea deserves a pat on the back from all of us players. 75.45.182.120 01:54, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Mz.B--75.45.182.120 01:54, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Victory Token Farming and Value[edit]

Here is a seemingly fruitful way I've found to farm Victory Tokens, once all the quests have been completed. First, locate a fairly unoccupied District, enter the boardwalk and buy a couple Festival Tickets (if your planning on making a complete Victory Token stack, you'll need about 23 Tickets total), and play the "Dragon's Nest" game. The intent is to play a game with only yourself entered, and only needing to touch at least one Hatchling for the entire game's duration.

For the price of a 15g Ticket, you net 11 Victory Tokens per game. Add 1 more token per contestant entered if you win.

So it then occurred to me that one could correlate the "semi-actual" value of what a stack of 250 Victory Tokens would be, and that is 341g per 250 Tokens (340.9 rounding up).

Seems the "Token Vendors" cropping up after the Festival are charging quite a bit extra on "time" and "labor" fees...--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:64.135.218.150 (talk).

Value of Victory Tokens is 'set' by looking at the rewards you can buy with them. Like for 5 Tokens you can get 1 Bottle Rocket at the trader, with the rocket having a value of 150g-200g, so 30-40g per Token (or something like that). --Arduinna talk 10:07, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Use 1 Red Bean Cake which can be purchased for 400g from merchants. You can get 1 Red Bean Cake for 10 tokens from Sheng Yi. 250 tokens / 10 tokens for every Red Bean Cake = 25. 25 x 400g for each Red Bean Cake that can purchased = 10,000g. 10k per stack is at least breaking even. At that price though, you should just buy the cakes outright. You could find people selling stacks for less though, but I do appreciate the point on inflation. I'll have to try your method next year. :) Sardaukar 14:06, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, those are all fine and well, but none of them actually give you tokens in return do they? This mechanism actually distributes tokens, at that set rate. You can compare the value to other set precedents in the game (the Bean cake and Bottle Rocket), but neither you can return and receive tokens back for. I'm not saying the Dragon's Nest game actually set in stone the value of VTs, but it does help suggest the round-about value, if one minuses time and effort. And all of that was only stated to highlight the enexorbent prices people are charging for the post-festival Victory Tokens. -Moral of the story? Don't delay (if you can) and get your tokens at the FESTIVAL! BTW, I went ahead and made an account, the first post is mine. --Steel Dragon847 19:23, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

U do not even have to touch one. Just enter, make sure no one else enteres and sit, go make coffee. :D For me I much rather like it when someone does enter, much more fun ;)84.26.144.104 18:51, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

GW Holidays[edit]
