Finally note on the discussions regarding the storage upgrades...[edit]

This is how I see it, and I'm sure I'll get flamed countless times for my view. Here are a few points that have been made countless times. Also a few that seemed to be overlooked.

1. As it has already been stated, yes the price for the storage is $9.99 (USD). However, there is no one forcing anyone to buy them. For those that wish to continue doing things the way they do them now, more power to them.

2. Everyone states that the cost is about storage and storage alone. I am, personally, a PC Technician and am aware of the prices out there on storage. But one thing that you all seem to be overlooking is the fact that they have to pay for more than just the server space. They also have to pay for maintenance on that server space, as well as people to perform that maintenance. They have to pay for an equal amount of storage for backups of all the data on that storage. They have to pay all of their employees, especally the ones that have work tirelessly over the past few months, day and night sometimes, in order to offer this new storage to us.

3. For those that feel that the additional storage is an afront to the "Free Game" philosophy, I would like you all to show me where exactly it states that Guild Wars is a "Free Game". Yes it is free to play (no monthly fee) but that doesn't mean that you are going to get everything for free. I have played many "free-to-play" games and none of them offer you everything for free. They all offer you a majority of the content for free, but hold some stuff back from you that you have to pay for in order to use it or play it.

Ok, I'm done with my rant now, let the flaming begin as I'm sure that it will. Passifis 16:42, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

I am a software developer myself and I must agree with you Passifis. I also agree that its overpriced in comparison to say, character slots, but maybe they can't go lower than the announced price due to all the point you mentioned. So while I might not buy additional storage space, I definetly am happy with all the work and time the Live Dev Team has put into this update, and hope they actually get some rest after it comes out. --Nekki 17:47, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
I believe their theory is, start high, it can always be brought down. It makes some sense from a marketing/sales perspective, because if they start it to low, it would be much more difficult to raise it, while if they start high, and not enough people buy, they can lower the price with much less disruption and public outcry. Of course there will be those that buy high that want their money back, but I would guess that number would be much lower than those that buy cheap and want more, only to find the price has doubled. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 18:04, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
I am also a PC Tech, and the recouping costs argument doesn't work for me. --Hawk SkeerAssassin Symbol(Talk) 19:08, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
I think Wyn hit the nail on the head. The reason all these people are upset is because ANet didn't start high. When they announced the storage upgrades a few months back, they never hinted at a possible fee for this upgrade. People then assumed it would be free and got all excited that ANet was giving them more free stuff. With the news of the storage having a fee associated with it, the people felt like ANet was screwing them out of a deal and got upset. These people need to remember that ANet is a business just like any other, and as so, they have the RIGHT to charge what ever price they want for the services they provide (they don't need a reason other than they want to). As consumers, we have the RIGHT to decide to pay that price or not. I would say we should be happy that they have provided us with such a wonderful game all these years. Gold Chocobo 00:35, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Let's be honest, this is a cash grab. The majority of their resources are allocated to a game that won't be released for quite some time. They need money, and have found a way for you to help support their financial needs while providing a feature many people have been begging for over the last 4 years. Storage costs and backups are not that big of a deal. I doubt they would need to upgrade anything on the hardware end at all, or if they did it could be done insanely cheap. The info being stored is likely just a 16bit Hex number denoting the item type and stack quantity. The artwork resides on the client end, and the code exists already on the server (not embedded in each item as people seem to be assuming). As such, a single Gigabyte could potentially hold hundreds of billions of additional storage slots. With enterprise level Terabyte drives selling for well under $100, I doubt they would incur any significant cost beyond the expense of the devs salaries while they roll out this feature. This is simply a revenue source. One players are NOT required to purchase. A feature much of the community has demanded, as the number of in-game items have grown disproportionately to the amount of storage currently available. They need money, I need storage. Sounds like a fair trade. I'll be buying several slots. Thanks Anet. 65.37.31.186 13:06, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

====Storage NO problem.. I bought all storage upgrades, petting zoo, and makeup changes = 70 bucks, no problem. Only problem is the free storage links are crap! We should be giving a key through our in game account. I have forgotten my user name and password for the NCsoft account that is the real stupid issue. We should be able to use our exsiting in game account to access the free storage...maybe the programers could use the storage agent to access the free upgrade. Lets not forget that yesterdays attempt to log on to the site was impossible. Too many flooded the site without adequate measure to prevent such a mess on first night offered. Now spending zcoins for major equipment packs----that sucked. I calculated approximatley 300 missions to complete to gain 20 gold coins (or 15 coins not for sure on exact amount) for a 20 pack equipment pouch. Could we just be able to purchase the equipment pack for $2 per character (I have 20 characters.. so addtional 40 bucks to outfit my account)?? would make things easier and get more cash to GW. 205.196.178.196 16:16, 24 April 2009 (UTC) usil951

Maybe they should have just put the free storage in the Guild Wars store because myself like probably many cant even get into the NCSoft Store and it's extremely irritating.

Im going repost this comment up here because it applies to this discussion as well. Dont sweat it if you cant get to the NC soft page right away. The website states that the promotion will be ongoing until May 31 which gives everyone a month to claim their free storage pane. Personally, Im going to wait a couple days for them to get this figured out and let the number of people accessing the site a chance to go down. Might make it easier.--Jvinniec 23:48, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

I know it's too late for suggestions, but why didn't they just do this:

1. Add the free storage pane to everyone's existing accounts thru an update. I mean, why not?

2. All new accounts automatically get the free storage pane UNTIL MAY 31ST.

3. Accounts created AFTER May 31st have to buy their storage pane.

To me, that seems the most headache-free way to go for the devs. I think it would have created much less complaints as well. (No complaints from me though! ANet/NCSoft can do wrong by me! ;) ) 218.40.186.9 22:15, 27 April 2009 (UTC)Ryoko Yonekura

Guild Wars has over 6 million accounts, but not all active, so offering the free pane as a reward for active players seems logical. I'm sure NCSoft insisted on putting it up as a promotion on their store for one reason only - marketing and impulse buying (it worked on my guild leader - he bought the pet unlock pack). For me the equipment packs alone did massive inventory relief, but I will eventually need to unlock all 20 slots for my ele and maybe monk and necro (multiple armor sets). --Falseprophet 23:01, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

I didn't even bother reading the rest of the responses, not because they aren't worth reading, but because I wanted to share my 2 cents as well. I don't see why anyone is being meh about Arena.net charging for extra storage. They've had Guild Wars this long without that storage and they offer you the ability to buy 4 panes. Consider that this company primarily makes money off of new accounts. That's it. The average player will buy one campaign from the Guild Wars world and play it for a bit. If they get into it, they may buy one of the other two as well (if not both), or perhaps the expansion, or all of them. If they get even more into it or are lazy, they may buy unlock packs or other various upgrades, such as character and storage slots. They aren't milking us. Now, if we were already paying a SUBSCRIPTION, or we had to pay a subscription to GET the extra storage, THAT'D be milking us. DEMONIIIK 14:08, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Everyone should just move to Aion[edit]

Seriously, at least they showed us what the game is going to look like before it's release, it looks way better than guild wars and then theres blade and soul. I am so close to quitting this game, it used to be a good competitor to WoW but now... I don't know, as soon as guild wars 2 was announced this game went to crap with fewer resources on guild wars, neglecting the game and the players then have the nerve to tell us we'll be getting things we should have got years ago and we have to pay for it. Oh i can't wait for Guild Wars 2. 92.238.76.95 18:01, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Then just quit. Nobody forces you to still play Guild Wars; and nobody is interested in what you (all) think about this update or not. Everything you have to pay for is optional. That is a big difference to WoW and Aion, and don't even try to compare GW with Aion because they are completely different.. poke | talk 20:27, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
What does this update have to do with you quitting GW and Aion? Sorry if I missed something.. Fyi, poke is right; no one forces you to do anything. Just my two sense. Sentry007 User Sentry007 sig.png 23:14, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Well, since Aion is a lot closer to release than Guild Wars 2, it makes sense that they'd show us something from it. If you saw Guild Wars 2's graphic right now, while it's in alpha stage, you probably wouldn't be impressed.

Number 2, guild Wars is a four year old game. It's amazing that it still looks good compared to other games. Of course newer games look better. Aion is a newer game. Is this Arenanet's fault? No! Back when they made Guild Wars, the graphics used were the best that they could possibly put in an MMO at the time. Times change, technology changes. Four years from now, Aion will still look good... but there'll be something that looks better. (And Guild Wars 2 will have better graphics than Guild Wars, so it's unwise to base your purchase on the current graphics.)

As for having to pay... did you read the part about getting one free pane of storage for free? And did you notice that they never said anything about having to pay for the new equipment packs? Guild Wars 1 is over. If you were expecting a new expansion every week, I'm sorry. But I think it is very smart of them to move most of their team over to working only on Guild Wars 2. Since all four parts of the game can be bought for 10 bucks, It's awesome that they give us any content updates at all! But they do. Most of the time A-net Devs ignore players because all most players do is whine about things that A-net can't control. And anyway, theres only one thing in the update that we'll have to pay for. More storage. And personally, just getting the one more pane and equipment packs for free is enough for me.--70.71.240.170 19:02, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

I totally agree with IP. I can't buy the extra storage, but the extra storage they are giving for free will be enough. I'm also looking forward to all the other aspects of the content update like the pet place thingy. I think this update is much more than was expected, and even the non-free content makes sense in a no-monthly-fee game (service). And to stay on topic, I will try AION and I will play GW2. ANet has stated many times that one reason GW has no monthly fees, is so that gamers can play other games without having to be attached to GW. We can come back whenever we want. So have fun with GW and any other games you like to play. --Nekki 16:17, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

To toss in my two cents worth, the $9.99 is a ONE TIME fee. Naturally, I'd like to have it for free just like anyone else. And, NO, no one is forcing anyone to purchase anything. If you don't like the price, you are certainly free to putter along as is ... However, I keep seeing the 'get an extra pane free -- just watch the web site' it's Wednesday evening, and I haven't seen anything new regarding this ... with my luck, this'll probably wind up in some dark corner someplace. But, then, my luck on the Shing Jea Boardwalk runs along the same lines too, so what am I griping about? :) Algonda 00:38, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

About what the first IP says, i agree with him, the Guild Wars is over. Compared with other games it's over. Aren't u asking why they give gifts for free, and why the game economy gone so low? That's because of gw2. I dont say that its a bad game, but why to buy a game (gw1) to play it only 1 year, then to "trash" it, and then starting with another (gw2) EDIT: This game is over because it needs money too (new upgrades).

Personally, I think the game economy is in ruïns because everybody farms, and there aren't enough rare things left in the game. Getting max equipment has always been easier than in other games anyway. That's the major factor in GW economy. 145.94.74.23 09:18, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Page contents[edit]

Is this page supposed to be a copy of the announcement page at http://www.guildwars.com/community/events/contentupdates/4thanniversary/default.php? If so, it should be tagged with {{arenanet article2}}, and the addition of euro prices should be removed because it is not part of the announcement. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 09:19, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

I don't think it needs to be an exact copy of the announcement. There is always a lot more information to give than what is written in the announcements, and information is more important than exact citing imo. :) - anja talk 09:59, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I've added the {{arenanet article}} tag. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 07:44, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
Do we really need that? We cite a lot of their text on event pages too, but they don't usually need that template, do they? - anja talk 09:22, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
Right now, it's used primarily for official short stories, although it's used on a few other pages, such as Real-Money Trading Policy, however I believe it was originally intended to mark any page with non-obvious ArenaNet content (obvious ArenaNet content would include things such as dialogue, skill descriptions and screenshots). -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 09:43, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
besides... the euro prices are part od the announcement ;) check the french or german (or ...) page... --85.149.120.16 16:27, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Question about menagarie[edit]

Will pets that have already been caught and sent to HoM such as the Phoenix and Black Moa automatically go in the menagarie, or do we have to catch them all over again. 217.44.145.14 12:59, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

I believe you have to recapture those pets. Also, post new questions or topics at the bottom of talk page, for future reference. --TalkRiddle 13:18, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Yes Ezekial is right, you have to have the pet with you to show it to the person at the menagerie in order to unlock it, it is not retroactive (i.e. unlock pets you had in the past). Passifis 13:33, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to put the Black Moa, Black Widow, and Phoenix in the menagerie automatically. Since they are already in our HoM, the data can easily be retrieved. I myself am probably lucky because I currently have the Black Widow as my pet, and it won't be TOO difficult to get the Moa and Phoenix again. However, anyone who does not have the Black Widow currently will have to go through UW to get it again. That task is neither easy nor inexpensive. Current running price to get a Black Widow is around 15k, and that is sure to go up if these particular pets are not retroactive. Getting it yourself is very difficult unless you know exactly how to get it. Plus, you have to wait for us to have favor in the first place (although right now we have so many minutes it will probably never go away...).Phazor 17:27, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
There are builds on PvXwiki that you can use to get a Black Widow. Or, you could just play with friends/guildies to get one. That's what we're planning on doing. Oh, and we haven't had tonnes of favor for a while now. We still get it a couple times per day, though, so it's not that big a deal, especially considering scrolls are abundant and cheap. --KOKUOU 17:30, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Gotta catch 'em all, all over again. At least this gives me something to do Vonturn Runesworth 22:56, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
But there is also the Pet Unlock Pack being offered MystiLefemEle 08:36, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
IMO, getting the phoenix seems hardest since you have to level it up. The Black Moa is rediculously easy to get, and a black widow just costs 1k to get in UW, which you can probably get back. I've been able to easily get a black widow on my W/R just by bringing 3 monk heroes (1 LS prot, 2 SB/RoJ) and going to the forgotten vale or twin serpent. Money can easily be gotten back by clearing both and smites. <>96.8.185.183 23:16, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

HoM Update??[edit]

What's this about the changes to an "account" HoM? Does anyone have any insight on this? Mighty Ranger Dude 23:49, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

It's going to be there. Linsey has already told us that. It just wasn't part of the official announcement. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 02:22, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Players will have the option to view their HoM by a character-by-character or an account-wide basis. This will allow you to view all of your characters HoM's or just the one you are playing. Passifis 13:38, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

I wonder how it works out when I have both Norn armor displayed for my paragon and my mesmer. I don't have 6 armor sets, so it will either show 4 armor sets (in which case I gotta get new one) or two Norn armors. Two Norn would look stupid, though, becaus the armor set will be displayed with the character you're viewing it, so that I would se two identical Norn armor sets. --88.112.91.132 16:32, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

OMG $10!?[edit]

I'm going to start my own section about being mad at Anet for charging $10 for storage slots (I don't think 5 sections devoted to this are enough to hold all the QQ).

QQ. QQ. QQQQQ. (Some generic statement already made 452,654,123,344 times about how much Anet sucks). QQ. QQQQQQ. QQ.

Your thoughts. --User Tero Gein sig.jpgtero 21:40, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

AM NOT...well...it will help my sight...supposedly ocular acupuncture is the new thing these days Anet 20:03, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Dude, you do realize that after a while they'll lower the price, right? Contrary to popular beleif, it takes a LOT of money to give people more storage. If they don't charge this at first they'll end up losing money.

They'll end up losing out if they keep it up too high. It may cost them a lot to have it, but it might not be economically sound for players to fork out that much for storage. I don't see them making much money off this at the current rate. 000.00.00.00 02:11, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
What do you base that assertion on? The way they lowered the price of Character Slots? Oh, wait... Targren 17:30, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
First off, people are buying other campaigns just for the extra storage. So the price point is likely pretty close. Second, There will be a free storage slot offer. Third, You don't have to buy anything if it's not worth it to you. There are many who will pay it gladly, why should they throw away those dollars to get yours? This is an opt-in revenue source to further fund development (in the form of bug fixes, support and occasional additional features) in a game that's not generating much revenue any more. They work hard and want to be payed for it. Those paychecks are written against the company's profits. They could either shell out the money to grow the user base and make a few bucks off of new players who would likely still prefer to wait for GW2, or they can tap into a huge existing user base by providing them with functionality they desire for a small price. Additionally, the introduction of equipment packs will offset much of the need for additional storage (those appear to be free). The options to benefit from this freely more than accommodate my needs, but I intend to buy slots anyway. I see it as supporting a development team and a company who has given us a lot already. They only make games to earn money. If the money wasn't there, there would be no further development. I'll support this effort on that basis alone. If I get something in return, I'm grateful. I fully expect to see more payed addons in future updates. If this doesn't do it for you, save your money. Expecting it for free is just stupid. I want a lot of things, but unless you know of a way to magically put a new jaguar in my driveway, I'm going to be stuck paying for it. This is no different. Luxury has it's cost, and in this case it's quite reasonable. 65.37.31.186 14:59, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
LOL I love how people took this seriously. XD --User Tero Gein sig.jpgtero 04:27, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

I wonder what the promotion will be and how much we will have to pay for it to get the free storage pane Kyounshi

But, but, I-I-I thought they made money from new stand-alone campaigns every six months. That business model seemed to work much better than announcing a new wow clone, realizing how much work that is, delaying the wow clone several years, and then milking the community 40 dollars for a storage upgrade that should have already been there. I laughed so I came up with a variation: "For a limited time a new minipet will be offered, the Cash Cow, where you can milk his udder to watch the cash slowly slide out of your wallet. The minipet will be priced at $9.99, and comes with 3 additional costume upgrades at $4.99 each. A unique barn can be constructed to house the Cash Cow in, priced at $19.99, and comes with hay and an assortment of farming tools to display for prestige, with additional tools at $2.99 each. An exciting mini wheelbarrow can be used to transport the Cash Cow while adventuring for $14.99. The wheelbarrow can be decked out with additonal skins, lights, smoke or speakers for $4.99 per addition. The Cash Cow can also be upgraded to play various sound effects with a sound pak add-on for an additional $9.99, with 7 versions of "Moo!" and "Mooooo!". Additional "Moo!" sounds can be purchased for $3.99 each. To be rid of the Cash Cow and remove it from your account, the meat grinder upgrade can be purchased for $29.99, which will forever destroy the Cash Cow and all associated upgrades. To remove the meat grinder, a donation of $19.99 will delete this item from your account. An additional fee of $9.99 will remove the title, Udderly Ridiculous, from your account." Flipper 06:14, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
I love the sarcasm, but in all honesty if they offered a mini "Cash-Cow", people would definately buy it. I vote YES on the cow. 65.37.31.186 15:06, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
People are subconsciously driven to indulge and please themselves. People will buy anything. Which is why we've come to this dilemma where additional storage costs as much as a full campaign, and people are pulling out their credit cards with a smile on their face and a shimmer in their eyes. It is your money, it is our choice, it is extra, it is commodity, but that isn't the point. It certainly is "extra", on NC Soft/Anet's side of the field, where your money is going. Would you be happier paying the price of an album for one .mp3, or paying the price of one .mp3 for one .mp3? /lolanalogy 68.193.113.198

And the GW section of the NCSoft online store is DOWN. Good planning... 69.108.112.247 02:34, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

FINALLY got into the NCSoft online store, and this associating your game account with an NCSoft Master Account is a BIG PAIN IN THE REAR. I can't keep all the passwords &tc I have for all my different game accounts straight, and now they want us to create MORE... :p 69.108.112.247 05:25, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, well I tried for several hours last night and couldn't complete the account creation, but it seems they fixed part of that last night because those screens changed this morning. Still seems Guildwarked (or whatever you want to call the slashdot effect on it). If you have tons of patience it does seem to connect with about 20 minutes between loaded pages, but you may have to click Try Again or Resend 6 or 7 times. --Falseprophet 15:01, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
I spoke too soon - the captcha is still not showing up, which is the same problem I had last night. I even opened the source and found the img src line for it and tried loading the png file in both IE and Firefox with no luck. --Falseprophet 15:41, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Dont sweat it if you cant get to the page right away. The website states that the promotion will be ongoing until May 31 which gives everyone a month to claim their free storage pane.--Jvinniec 23:04, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Good thing, because it'll take about that long to figure out the asinine NCsoft webstore and the ncSoft/plaync/whatever account and its name/password you have to use to enter it -- I guess the GW online store was making it just too easy ... Clan Yumemiru 06:54, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Your PlayNC account is the only way to change your password, iirc, so I think it could be assumed you remember such things. - anja talk 07:02, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Except my plaync/ncsoft/whatever account got created automagically for me when I bought my first stuff through the GW online store 2+ years ago, I didn't get email that I suddenly HAD it, and it's increasingly looking like that's unrecoverable information. And no, it's not my GW logon either ... so here's hoping NC support will come through, else I get bitten by my (increasingly misplaced) game loyalty again. Bah :( Clan Yumemiru 07:21, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Edit: Sorry about my tone - I'm increasingly exasperated by the whole situation. Clan Yumemiru 07:29, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm sure NCsoft support is LOADED with questions about the PlayNC accounts and such. Maybe this will help to tell them they need to make it more intuitive :) - anja talk 08:24, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

"The specified account is already linked to another NCsoft account. Please contact Customer Support if you require additional help." -- Aside from the "Customer Support" link leading to nowhere, there are also complaints of people not knowing they -already- have NCsoft accounts linked to their GW accounts. And it's not just a case of bad memory, because if NCsoft DID push people to create NCsoft Master accounts when buying from the In-game store since 2007, they certainly did not give any email confirmation about it. Which could probably lead to people not getting the 4th Anniversary Storage after all just because of the technicality that you have to have an NCsoft "Master" account and not just work from a GW account. Who can remember NCsoft account details from 2 years ago anyway?? Not everyone here has a good memory. Hopefully Anet gives an easier access to "remembering" whatever NCsoft account that is, not just submitting a support ticket to slow Customer Service turnaround times =/. Really exasperating.User:mikagami 03:47, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

NCsoft's support helped me. I provided 6 access keys, 2 of which where mine (the other 4 where my brothers because we kept them all in the same general location and didn't know whos was whos) and the last 4 digits on a debit card used to make a transaction and they where able to find it. For what it's worth, i would say they did a pretty good job for me, seeing as how I gave them partial (and even some incorrect) information. And even though I think they made a dumb mistake by automatically linking your Guild Wars account to a NCsoft master account without notifying you in any way, I still support them for their work in trying to resolve this issue. I don't understand wtf this update is[edit]

srsly, i dont get it, it lets you capture pets then you can put them there and come back later if your pet gets boring? SOOO CONFUSED no im not being sarcastic--76.188.238.12 20:34, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

hopefully that is it's function, although I doubt it. Not many details yet but from the sound of things it's at least going to be a service where you can bring a type of pet (let's say Dire, Elderly, or etc.) and have that typing 'registered'. Then if you get a new pet, you can bring it here and have it trained automatically to Dire, Elderly, etc. Though I'm seriously hoping for a pet barn. I want some new pets but I don't want to get rid of my King Simba :( It's only a few days now before the patch goes live, time will tell! 68.193.113.198
It's just basically a pet zoo. I think it's GW's way of making a pet stable. It doesn't allow you to keep your old pet but you can basically goand retame him if you want too at one of the predfined levels. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 03:27, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Here's the idea: On my PvE Ranger, I have a Dire Level 20 White Moa. I go to the Zaishen Menagerie with my White Moa in tow and talk to an NPC to unlock all of the tiers for the White Moa. Now any character, PvE or PvP, can go to the Menagerie and tame a Dire Level 20 White Moa. So it's a simpler way to get high-level desired pets (read:Level 20 Dire) for any character who might need it (say a IWAY warrior or a PvP character getting a Dire pet instead of an Elder one etc.). It's not a bad idea....if they decide to buff Beast Mastery in the May skill balance. It just seems like a lot of effort for a very underpowered skill line. Benjammn311 03:37, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
You realize that the most powerful gimmicks that tend to dominate the meta usually have beastmasters rampaging around, right? 99.144.234.76 03:52, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Buff Beastmastery PvE-side... --Arduinna talk 06:47, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
I use a R/P build for all vanquishing and HM missions/dungeons. Beast mastery is fine, it's players who need to get better. 99.144.234.76 06:57, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Beast mastery is fine, except for that one skill that costs nothing and gives you an extra party member. That's a bit OP. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 08:10, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
But you still need to use that skill to cap a pet, Shard. That balances it. Not everyone can cap a pet in PvE ;) --Arduinna talk 08:35, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
That skill is not really overpowered, as you can't resurrect the pet with that skill alone(which is a big shame imho). But it's a good tank anyway, as the critter can take quite the beating. And a BM ranger is a fun thing to play(at least for me), as I use a spider pet in PvP and just laugh when the enemy ignores my spider and is just chasing me in circles, while the spider kills the squishy targets with ease. --SkyHiRider 10:52, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Oh right an extra party member that cannot be controlled conveniently, and usurps your entire bar with Rezes and Heals and Attacks etc. Sure is exaggeration in here. Anyway, I'm not going to make any claims since I'm as low as you can go in PvP skill, but I would like to see some buffs or changes or something to Beastmastery skills that utilize Pets. Pets are fun for a few matches but needing to provide skills for your pet as well as make your own Ranger useful makes it a cramped experience for me. And I think it was skills like Rampage as One that made BM overpowered/imbalanced, not pet skills, idk. 68.193.113.198
This is not the place to have a skill balance discussion....... --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 16:39, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

It seems be a valid part of the discussion though. Dero Ahmonati 20:37, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Putting two and two together[edit]

Hmmm a Z-Storage update with a free ingame promotion at the same time as Zquests, Zcoins and Zzoo are being added... I would guess the ingame promo would have something to do with doing the Zuests... 192.203.160.241 17:42, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Zzoo? Are we getting Vizu's twin sister as a hero? 68.193.113.198

LFG[edit]

tomorrows Daily quest, need 2 monks paragon and nukers, 1/8 invite self 68.193.113.198

Isn't that little weird what you say? W're not sure it's tommorow/today. If you don't know what th daily is how can you know the best team composition. For the same price they give quests as follow:-Complete grand feast of ...(the solo-Elona mission) ...and get feather by killing Commander blablabla

-Kill 200 people in Random Arena's
                                                                              -Kill Irontoe in HM

What are you going to do with team then?

Daily Quest[edit]

Am I the only one kind of exited to maybe, even temporarly, having daily quests

Im liking this idea too, after beating all the campaigns (except HM but getting there) and slowly doing titles this will be a good break for me and my friends when we want something different. truesimzy 02:25, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm hoping that missions which I need to do in Hard Mode come up as daily quests so that those areas are more heavily populated. Phazor 06:10, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
I thought that was in part the idea... to help tunnel people to same zones just for a day... 65.6.156.101 11:16, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
I think it shouldn't be everyday but if it is upgrade the stuff you only get 70 coins and a max so far of like 300 that will take um 20 days just to get a great pack and 84 days to get the crate it better have some silver reward days!!!!!!!--74.85.119.158 04:46, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
They're not supposed to be obtainable in a few days, you actually have to play the game to get them (shocking, isn't it). And at any rate, 20 days isn't that much. Nor is 3 months for a evercrate.145.94.74.23 09:12, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Sure would be nice if someone would adjust the spacing on the daily Zaishen signs ... getting TO them is a bit of a pain with people standing around in front of them like they're reading a bulletin board at work/school. Algonda 18:56, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

"The festivities begin on Thursday, April 23 after the live update and run until noon on Wednesday, April 29." (from the anniversary announcment) -- Peej 20:23, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
A live update is nothing more than when they add something to the "live servers," that is, the servers we play on. So, as is being said by Linsey... the update could be sometime other than today. Drago 21:23, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
The login announcements say that the festivities begin today, and Linsey has confirmed that there will be a live update today. If it were just the birthday weekend, I'm sure it would have been up by now, but considering it's not, I'd reckon that we're getting at least some of the new content with the impending build and they're busy polishing it up. --KOKUOU 21:28, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Multiple items for cart in NCsoft store?[edit]

Its a pain in the butt to have to keep going back through the buying process to purchase the 4 additional panes of storage. I used the Paypal check out so that NCsoft would loose a small fee...4 times... Retro77 18:13, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I totally agree. The store needs a cart. I spent like five minutes looking for a way to buy more than one thing at a time. Then I spent five more minutes buying storage and a makeover! It sucks. Falchios 22:23, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Name Change/Customized Gear[edit]

Do I understand it right that your character cannot use their customized gear, i.e., armor/weapons, if they change their name? What about your heroes' starter weapons (if still in use) that are customized to your character? 218.40.186.9 05:39, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Ryoko Yonekura

That would be silly, if you couldn't use your armor and weapons after a paid name change. It sounds highly unlikely. - anja talk 09:32, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
