Depends On How well u play or how long u played?

so yeah, does GW2 still gonna be still depends how well u play or how long long you played? i think GW2 should balance the "well" and "time", or half and half. instead of only just on how weel u played. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:67.66.51.15 (talk).

Supposedly, players new to Guild Wars picking up with GW2 will be at no disadvantage to the veterans from GW1. The Hall of Monuments supposedly gives only aesthetic benefits, to make your character(s) look good. Calor Talk 02:51, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

what's so scarry about starting from the beginning? it's actually fun.. Plohek 10:31, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Yeah i'm looking forward to everyone starting a new - that way you see who the REAl good players are.--Neyon 20:08, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm kind of hoping they don't make this level cap too vast. I mean, level 50 would be cool for me. We don't want to play this game untill we get to level 1million and calling new people noobs. Yeah, level 50 is good for me :D FromStokoe 15:18, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Wow serioudly! All that hard work in the HOM and we are only getting stuff that will make you look good. I quit!! I feel like i just earned a lot of money for nothing.wiiman00 23:07, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Names

I am curious if we will need to have the same name in gw2 as in gw1 to benefit from the HoM. It says that the HoM reserves your name in gw2 and links with your gw account of i am not mistaken. I hope this is not true because i dont want the same name as i have now. a change would be nice. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:65.13.92.248 (talk).

Please create a new section if you're not continuing an existing discussion. As for names, you don't need to have the same name. Your GW2 character is supposed to be a descendant so it's obvious they won't force you to use the same name. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 18:04, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
"Obvious", and we all hope so, but this has certainly not been confirmed to my knowledge. They have not said how GW1 and GW2 characters will be linked. And by the same logic, the GW2 characters that inherit should be human (because they are descendants) but hopefully that won't be required either. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 18:17, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

In response to the original poster's question, the developers have decided that Hall of Monuments benefits in Guild Wars 2 will be account-wide rather than making inheritance characre-specific. -- Gordon Ecker 07:42, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
I want to use the same names...so I'm glad they have mentioned "reserving" them. I use the same names for NWN and other games, so hooray! Plus it makes up for me having to part with my gang of gals when GW2 comes out.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 23:26, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

System Requirements?

Any1 have any ideas about this or willing to speculate? I am worried that my laptop won't be able to run it. =/ 75.155.112.20 15:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

All games that are in the devolopment/beta stage won't have system requirments until the game is realeased as things change. All you can do is hope for the best. 68.151.16.139 23:08, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Must admit I am a bit concerned about this myself as my own laptop is coming to the end of its life and need to upgrade very soon. I only hope that the one I choose is graphically capable as I can't afford to upgrade a computer just to play a game. Duckrustler 21:10, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Depending on what GW1 runs like on your current computer, you can estimate weather or not it will be able to run GW2. If you can run GW1 without lag (Graphically) at 60fps(Or your current desktop refresh rate) with maximum graphic settings, you will most likely be fine. If you can run games like Crisis, you will be fine.
Keep in mind that they will probably have minimum settings from where it is not to about mid range of what it is now. This may not be the case, but they are definately aware that not all users have access to top of the line gaming rigs, and are also unable or unwilling to upgrade a PC for a video game.
I hope I have helped to give you some hope until the official release. But as said above, we will not have a definitive answer to this question until the release. --Kairu 23:49, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Original GW is by no means a measuring stick for GW2 even if you can run it at 500fps that means little or nothing, as for system requierments, our good friends at Beth. studios didn't release system requirements for Fallout 3 until some week before release date, so No one knows, or can know, probably even devs don't know. This should be a common sense by now but once again: Loptops are Not for gaming, even if you do get yourself a brand new and expensive loptop it will be year(s) behind graphics development with poorly cooled and underclocked parts, or worse still, shared DDR2 for graphic memory. Then for Speculating, If you got a decent midrange stationary pc (less then 1200$ excluding monitor etc) within a Year of a game's release date then you shouldn't worry much about it running on your computer, even if you Might need to turn down AA or Resolution. Biz 08:49, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
This is very true and a bit off topic but I was lead to believe a laptop is a great machine for playing games. So I bought one with 3 gigabytes of ram, 256mb graphs card, 2 processors etc, thinking "OMG it's going to be super fast", and when it arrived to me via mail and I started testing it... You can imagine the disappointment when I realised my brand new supposed-to-be superfast laptop runs 2 years old games worse than my nearly 3 years old table PC which is supposed to have 3 times less power! Ugh. Never buying another laptop. --88.115.63.242 06:53, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Charr - Human alliegance?

I don't know if this has been asked before, but since there is going to be 5 different races in GW2, I can't stop but wonder if the Humans and the Charr are going to be allied like some of the charrs in the EotN storyline. If not, wouldn't it seem weird if the remaining 4 (Humans, Asura, Sylvaari and the Norn) are allied AGAINST the Charr? Besides, it would like far to much like WoW (Horde vs. Alliance), not that its anything worng with that but still. --Treasure Boy I love this skill :D Talk 16:35, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Actually the Sylvari are a new race and i doubt they have had much contact with the charr. The Asura i really dont know... there is the whole separated by the shiverpeaks AND kryta thing, so again not much contact. and also it is stated in the PC Gamer of January that the Charr and the Norn do not fight due to a mutual respect. now to humans... due to the fact that the char kiiinda overtook all of ascalon and only the humans only have one fort left i dont think that there will be an alliance soon. oh and i bet the humans are going to bring up the whole SEARING thing.. psh like that didnt get old 250 GWyears ago. however to contradict everything i have said, the primordeal dragons that are going to come out and rape Tyria (probably with an un-nerfed Ursan),and maybe *movie voice over guy voice* all of tyria will have to unite against this threat --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:69.201.178.12 (talk).

btw that was my first post. here is captain supernoob with his question: how do i add my name after my comment? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Damien Hellchaser (talk).

Nice try, damien--70.71.240.170 23:14, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

My guess, and my hope, is that there will be a factions-style fight between humans and charr, over Ascalon. To kill the dragons everyone will have to unite, that's kind of a given I think, and I'm pretty sure that one of the articles I read said that the Asura try to remain neutral to everyone and not really fight, though they "may have to". I kinda remember one article that seemed to suggest there will be multiple faction fighting (such as Sylvari v. Norn and Humans v. Charr) but who knows. To me, though, very existence of Ebon Hawke, and the discussion of returning one of the royal swords (either rurik's or Adleburn's) to Ascalon City pretty strongly suggest to me that the days of killing charr are not over, which makes me happy like candy makes me happy. (Satanael 04:47, 28 August 2008 (UTC))
It's far more likely that different races would not fight each other at all, but kinda fight the big scary dragons instead. Biz 16:54, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
According to the things like The Movement of the World, the alliances between the races are more than X,X and X vs X,X,X or all against all. The Charr and Humans are probably still opposed but are located quite far from each others lands, The Asuran are basically allied with all races, I'm not sure with about the Norn but it seems they ally with with the Charr, The Sylvari are unkown. Just an assumption by myself but I think the Tengu will probably be in kryta(due to whats said in "the movement of the world") and maybe allied with at least the humans.(Marsc 18:45, 14 September 2008 (UTC))
The Norn respect anyone who can put up a good fight. They don't think in terms of alliances, at least, not according to the story in EotN. The Asuran seem very opportunistic and self-centered. Alliances is more of a human thing. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 13:48, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
IMO the Movement of the World comes pretty close to outright stating that the Gold Legion and White Mantle are going to be antagonists in GW2, and I'd be surprised if GW2 didn't have hostile members of the other three races. -- Gordon Ecker 00:23, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Guild Wars Novels

As seen here, Arena Net will release in 2009 three books about the 250 years between GW1 and GW2. Erasculio 03:50, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Owned. I actually my consider buying a Guildwars Book, they could prove to bbe an interesting read Jonas 23:54, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
ANet done great job creating all the lore for GW. Reading a novel about Tyria and it's inhabitants could prove just as worthy as reading any other epic fantasy story. Ever tried to write a "diary" of your character's adventures? :D Some GW-linked books would be awesome, I'm bying :) Ratys 09:43, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Professions and other New Info

  • If the beta is Q1 2009, shouldn't the professions be at least partially complete? Can't we get any new information? Even concept art or etc would be awesome...but I digress. --Chiaro 02:30, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Who says the beta's in Q1 2009? -- Gordon Ecker 02:47, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Changes says otherwise, but I guess thats the point of the if. They don't want to do that until the beta as well they might be copyed and they want to have a big splash :). So I guess its the waiting game. Dominator Matrix 03:00, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

I was super hyped about the game, but it has been over a year now, and no new news, screen shots, no sneak peaks, nothing to hold my anticipation. I am sure I will get the game when it come out, but with the level of info there was about the game when EOTN was released, and nothing sense.....I have started playing other games, we need something to stay hyped about. ~Med Luvin --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:209.200.197.11 (talk).

Personally i feel the same way. I began playing other games because there has been nothing to keep me hooked. Im afraid that i might be less interested when it comes out if i dont know anything about it, but ill still buy it anyway. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Hooboy25 (talk).

Continents

I have a question regarding the free roam nature of GW2. Will we be able to visit our well known continents from the start, or there will be only a primary continent at first, and then unlocking other continents as form of expansions?

It is unknown at the current time (and ANet isn't telling anything yet), but based on the Movement of the World article, I would guess that we get access to the current Prophecies + Eye of the North map at the beginning. -- Lord Ehzed 20:44, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Physical Attribute system

I may be alone on this, but I'm honestly hoping for a classic attribute system to be added (Dexterity, Strength, Intelligence and such) ALONG with the skill-point-attribute system we have now... Think about the Strategies and new possibilities that would open for the players. Say two Old-School BoA sins go head-to-head... It wouldn't be a matter of who hits first anymore, it would be the best combination of skills, skill attributes, AND physical attributes. That'd add more depth to ALL battles and make PvP FAR more interesting. That would also, LARGELY, cut out cookie-cutter builds and FORCE players to be more creative with their builds... It wouldn't be "Who here gets their build off wiki?!" anymore... PuG groups won't suck as hard anymore... Fuse classic with the new-age... Personally, that's my DREAM for this game. The main thing that's gotten me EXCITED for it. It'd be more work for the programmers... But hey, no one EVER said their job was easy... Am I alone on this or what? 76.23.150.107 06:06, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

itd have more customizability, yes, but the physical attributes idea seams alot like the attributes system of other RPG's, in some cases, not even MMORPG's (think the dexterity, stregnth, and intelligance attributes in KOTOR 2).--User Raph Sig.pngRaph Talky 13:14, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, he's right. Sounds too much like Sacred, not very Guildwars-y Mcdertr 05:30, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

It wouldnt get that unqiue and special with your own sets of physical attributes. Ive played some games with this system and the best combinations always comes out for public. So GW2W would be full of "the best setup" for X proffesion. Another problem is that if you put your attributes wrong you need to make a new chara from scratch(if attributes are not changeable) Goody 17:58, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Why wouldn't they be changeable? -- Gordon Ecker 01:39, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
I dont know, but some games have unchangeable system. The way you put your points will stay in that way. Gw2 may dont even have this kind of system. Goody 17:04, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
I think it would be another step for GW2 to become a common game but thats only me Super Range Ranger Cow 12:48, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
I might agree that having more nubs to turn might rise level of customization, but I do have to disagree on everything else. I've played plenty MMOs to know that there is always an "optimal" way of spending your attribute points, most of them being: Have just enough points on X or Y to wield a weapon/armor of a certain level and everything else on a single stat or two. Thus, people will give their optimal solutions or Builds to other people and all that will be different that now you have few more parameters to mention. Biz 17:53, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

In my opinion, if you want those dexterity/strength/charisma settings, play a different game. That isn't guild wars, end of story. There are lots of other rpg's out there that utilize that system; frankly, i think it's dull and unimaginative. Guild wars is a very unique game, let's keep it that way :) |NalanaFile:User Nalana Darkling V.jpgDarkling| 23:18, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Primary Atts and attributes allow for much more ease over customization 58.179.74.192 09:40, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Please, ANet. Give us a trailer or teaser or something What do guys think of this, what do you want to see in it (want to help Anet ;) ). --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Durium (talk).

Something tells me Anet is under hush orders from NCsoft about releasing anything that might cast a shadow over Aion =) Thats would be the reason for not telling us [censured] about GW2 for the last year. Biz 18:32, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Just had a look at the movies for Aion and it is a rather nice looking game and if GW2 goes at least that far I'll be happy :o) Lady Elyssa 12:32, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it has been stated in some obscure location. I'm thinking forums or interview, but I can't remember where I saw it. They also stated that the 8 skills system is staying. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 14:52, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
IIRC there was something about keeping limited skill slots, but I'm not aware of any specific statements about the exact number of skill slots. IMO it should go in the GW2 FAQ if someone can find a source for it. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 00:22, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
User:Aspectacle/GW2FactSheet - it's a bit out of date, but it tells me the reference to secondary professions was midway down [1]. The reference to a limited skill system is somewhere in this slow loading gamona article. I used these references to draft what is written in this article. It's been so long since we've heard anything concrete about GW2, who knows if they are even close to correct. -_- Your obscure GW2 reference finder --Aspectacle 01:05, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
They are not likely to change something as basic and core as the 8 skill system, given how widely popular it is within the GW population. I mean, it could happen, but I would be very, VERY, surprised. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 06:24, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
