Triggering the dialogues[edit]

I haven't completed any of the Wintersday quests on my warr or sin, yet I was able to witness the Gwen/Thackeray dialogues. On the other hand I haven't finished EotN main storyline on my nec and she can't get the dialogues, so IMO the completion of GW:EN is the requirement, since both my sin and warr have done that. Razor39999 21:16, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I am actually unclear on what the requirements are. I was able to see these dialogues on every one of my chars but have beaten EotN on only 2 of them. I did the wintersday quests on each of my chars so I figured those were the reqs. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 06:50, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
It is either the EotN or Wintersday Cheer for the dialogues, excluding the one where Evennia is around. -- Konig/talk 07:20, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
I have completed zero Wintersday quests anywhere on any character (unless doing the normal not-during-Wintersday Secret Lair of the Snowmen dungeon counts), and none of my characters have finished EotN (although one of them is at the "working out how to kill Cyndr with only heroes and henchies" stage). This morning, I saw the hay fever tea dialogue. Is the condition perhaps "character has finished the Ebon Vanguard quest series" rather than "character has finished EotN"? Cynique 08:59, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
If you take notes of the dates, you'd realize that discussion is old. Since the latest content update, the requirements were changed. It went from completing EN or Wintersday Cheer to completing the Ebon Vanguard arc. -- Konig/talk 01:25, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Yup, saw that about the dates, but: "In order to see the following dialogue sequence, your character must have completed the Eye of the North Expansion, all of the Eye of the North Wintersday quests, or be in a party whose party leader has completed one or both" led me to believe that this isn't yet known. Cynique 04:21, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Thought I covered all the necessary edits to this page when it got moved from "Gwen and Thackeray". Fixing. -- Konig/talk 11:47, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for dumping a ton of time into making this page Musha. Definitely overdue for this page, was getting tired of seeing Gwen and Thackery's individual pages all sloppy and none of that dialogue cohesively put together for someone to read without clutter. 75.248.46.214 07:27, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

:D Glad you like it! --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 18:02, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Cry Emote[edit]

Who else saw Gwen 'cry' when Keiran left? i think we might be getting a new emote O.O --Neil2250 , Render Lord User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 08:43, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I saw it. It was a very good emote, especially for the situation. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 18:01, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
...i want it.--Neil2250 , Render Lord User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 18:32, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I like it, too. It was a very good-looking emote. :) --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 19:26, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Did you get any screenys? i was too dazzled to get any :/ --Neil2250 , Render Lord User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 19:19, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I didn't. I was also too dazzled to be that quick-minded. :P But I do have another account I can use to do that. And now that you've mentioned it, that will be my next goal here. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 20:27, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
I wanted to take a screen for you, but in my case Gwen didn't do anything when Keiran left O_O I'm a bit disappointed^^ 213.166.209.6 10:32, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Maybe I'm just really cynical, but it made me laugh. It looked more like she was throwing up... Arshay Duskbrow 11:57, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
The emote is admittedly a bit melodramatic, but then it has to be: how else can you tell she's crying, as opposed to rubbing her eyes or coughing? --Mme. Donelle 03:18, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
I am currently working on getting this dialogue again so I can get some screenies of her "throwing up." I'll have them uploaded soon. :D --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 13:16, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
There. Uploaded. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 20:13, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Looks like she's impaling her head.

I know this is way late, but I just remembered that I believe we've seen that emote on several child NPCs. Does anyone else remember this happening, and where child NPCs would use this "emote"? Ailina 21:09, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Rose![edit]

If you watch Thackeray, when he says "Look, I got you a ridiculously large flower!", what appears to be the Rose Focus appears in his hand, making it look like he's holding a "ridiculously large flower" for her. I have a screenie if anyone wants to see, since this doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet. I thought it was a nice touch.  :) 63.115.40.129 15:06, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Yeah. I have a screenie as well. I had to pick between that and the current pic on the page with Thackeray bowing. But now I'm thinking maybe I'll upload that one as well. :D --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 18:43, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Ok, its on there now, too. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 02:19, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

Grrrrrr[edit]

If we have to wait any longer, Im gonna marry Gwen, make children and establish Ebonhawke myself. Like we all know that Gwen at some point just comes to Kryta and pops up out of nowhere and Keiran will be happy and blablabla, but just HAPPEN you FREAKING MOMENT!--Markisbeest 21:37, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Saw dialog but no scavenger hunt[edit]

I was in a party with another and went through all the dialogs but when I visited Thackeray to give him the picnic items, he would not respond. When I went back to HOM by myself, Thackeray would not appear. Then I saw that Gwen had a quest which I took. Re-entering the HOM after that, Thackeray appears. Abandoning the quest after dialog 1 does not stop the dialog chain. Can anyone confirm and add to page notes?

What quest was it? --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 14:06, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

So[edit]

There is no way to get these dialogues if you haven't completed the wi ntersday 2008 quest apart from finding someone who has? --Myotac 11:23, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure but I once heard that if u haven't done Wintersday, either wait for the coming wintersday (duh!) or finish EOTN and you can get them. --MageUser MageMontu sig.pngMontu 11:25, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
I see thanks. :D Relieved to know I don't need W-Day quests on top of completing EOTN. ;p --Myotac 11:30, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]

I finished the scavenger hunt and went to my HoM, but there was no dialogue. Thackery didn't show up at all. Then I went out to Ice Chasms to see if the next dialogue would show up and it didn't. Why won't Thackery show up for the last dialogue between him and Gwen? Daeheru 21:47, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Nvm I needed to do Thackery's last dialogue option before he would show up in my HoM. Daeheru 21:54, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

No Missing Vanguard Quests needed[edit]

You don't need to finish any of the ebon vanguard quests to trigger all the dialogues for the scavenger hunt + the rejection. Just Wintersday chain quest, w.e the year. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Beleeth (talk) at 13:19, 4 January 2011‎ (UTC).

Are you saying that there are three possible triggers?
  1. If the official quest is taken, A Good Deed.
  2. If the self-guided version is taken, Thackeray's Wintersday Cheer from 2008-9
  3. If the self-guided version is taken, Casey's Snowball Dominance.
Before TWiK and Wintersday 2010, you did not have to complete SD to do the scavenger hunt (WC was sufficient). In 2010, if you are using A Good Deed to trigger, there are EV quest requirements to start that. However, I haven't tried to trigger it manually by avoiding TWiK and using SD offered by Casey Carpenter.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:25, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
User Beleeth Gw231.jpg
Yes, I'm still on trial time for EoTN on one of my accounts and all I needed to do to get the dialogues to trigger and to get Thackery to ask for help with the picnic was to finish snowball dominance. Discovered when I went to the HoM to get the first tapestry and then Thackery came in and started talking to Gwen. As you can imagine I wouldn;t have enough time to do both the missing vanguard quest chain + Wintersday Quests in the 5 hours trial. Beleeth 21:15, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Eh, it's possible to do the EV quests in a few hours, but I think your screenshot is sufficient to establish SD 2010 as a third trigger. Nice work spotting it.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:56, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
User Beleeth Gw242.jpg
Yeah, maybe, but I wanted to Snowball anyways lol [=, however I'm even happier since I could get the scavenger hunt too, here on another character, she didnt even check the scrying pool and is about to give the last item to Thackeray. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Beleeth (talk) at 22:23, 4 January 2011 (UTC).

Edited the page to list the correct requirements (as far as I'm aware) to view the Hay Fever Tea dialogue and those that follow it. My sin has not completed the Ebon Vanguard story arc, A Good Deed or Wintersday Cheer so I can only assume that completing Snowball Dominance is a requirement on it's own, as I completed that at Christmas and am currently in the process of viewing said dialogues. 90.211.153.99 13:05, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

On my character that has turned in The Missing Vanguard, but hasn't completed Wintersday Cheer, A Good Deed or Snowball Dominance, the Hearts of the North dialogues don't appear and Thackeray offers A Good Deed in Ice Cliff Chasms.
On another character that has turned in The Missing Vanguard, but has completed only Snowball Dominance (not Wintersday Cheer or A Good Deed), the dialogues do appear and Thackeray doesn't offer A Good Deed in Ice Cliff Chasms even when the character hasn't finished viewing the first six dialogues.
So based on my observations and Beleeth's observations and screenshots (displayed in this section), completing The Missing Vanguard alone won't initiate the dialogues and isn't required. --Silver Edge 21:28, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
