I just think this skill is greatly overshadowed by Assassin's Promise. Could do with a slight buff imo - maybe health gain in addition to the energy? Also, it DOES look like a Ku Klux Klan member in the skill image xD Firoas. talk 11:41, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
Assassin's Promise does a lot more, but is less of a guarantee. Reaper's Mark lasts a lot longer, can be maintained, and acts as a sort of Soul Reaping which isn't constrained by the new Soul Reaping system. This is the best Necro E-management skill I have ever used, and I use it all the time when I go with my Bone Fiend only army.FleshAndFaith 00:52, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

I used to think it looked like the statue of liberty from seeing the lower resolution icon. I think it's a pretty pointless skill, when is it ever going to be worth losing your elite slot if you already have high soul reaping and could take signet of lost souls? Necromas 13:47, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

I know this is a bit late but I feel I should point out that conical hats were in use long before the KKK. I just need to simply refer you to the wikipedia article to show you this. On top of this the image of this icon shows the face of the individual, hats worn by the member of the KKK were designed to keep the wearer anonymous.
I do not know if this image refers to a specific group but conical hats have for centuries been linked to witches and magic. I am sure this is simply extension of that belief.

Statue of Liberty[edit]

Insane idea for this skill?[edit]

Just thinking of this skill now, instantly reminds me of Dhuum.. instantly killing you. Now my idea is: Hex: All damage dealt to target foes party is redirected to that target. Now obviously people are going to scream OP OP OP!! But let's say it's only 75% damage, costs 25e, recharge 30-60seconds, lasts 5 seconds, *1/4 activation. Playing a necro isn't exactly fun anymore, infact it mostly relies on you being support/backline anti melee. Anyways just an idea which could be immensely improved upon ^^ /nosig

AoE, bypassing armor, attacking distant targets with melee... oh come on, that's not even a small oversight. Although it would still most likely be a bad idea because of how much it bypasses.
You lose 100% of your health and take no death penalty. Target foe is hexed with Reaper's Mark for 10 seconds. When Reaper's Mark ends, target foe loses 25...50...75% of their maximum health. If target foe dies from Reaper's Mark, you are resurrected with 25% health and 5% energy and target foe does not suffer any death penalty. PvE skill of course. To please the trolls in PvP it would have to be: You sacrifice 100% of your health and take 60% death penalty. Target foe suffers -1 health degeneration for 1...2...3 seconds. Probably the most overpowered idea I have had in a while, but what about making it a twisted version of Enduring Toxin, renewing if their health is below a certain level? If their health gets above that or they can remove the hex, they survive of course. But someone without hex removal trying to just run away is going to find themselves in even more trouble. Hmm, how about this for a concept: Target affected with Reaper's Mark suffers damage and/or condition(s) any time one of their allies dies. Simple. Especially useful against targets that are part of large groups (more so if they raise or summon minions or spirits, and/or if the target hangs out with significantly lower level mooks). The effect also fits the skill name pretty well. Sort of a sideways-n-warped mix of IWAY and Pain Inverter. If you have high SR, you really aren't going to hurt much for energy so spending an elite on e-management seems too niche-y. Obviously far more useful in PVE as suggested, but a PVP version could just use a different, more appropriate mechanic (as is already common practice). It isn't a bad skill at all it's just that there are other elites that are better in the builds the necromancer uses. It's good but just does not fit in with the builds of the necromancer. If you want this skill to be good give it a function suitable in function to Soul Reaping skills and functionable in the necromancer builds. And don't go thinking of Dhuum or any crazy boss-like NPC's for a skill idea but how people play the necromancer and what it could use what is still missing instead. Needs Buff/Rework[edit]

Doesn't seem terribly useful to me. Assassin's promise is the weapon of choice in pve, and in pvp, well, the medium degen and very conditional energy gain with a 15 sec recharge makes it pretty much useless, at least by elite standards. I was thinking maybe you would "reap" while the hex is on them, like "Whenever target foe suffers from a condition/hex, you lose a condition/hex". Another idea a friend suggested was that you gain energy every time target foe loses __% of health. I'm sure this skill isn't really a high priority for anyone, but it'd be nice to have more viable elites to choose from as a nec.--GerrohUser Gerroh GerrohEmblem.gif 22:05, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Perhaps going the Defile Flesh way and make it: "Elite Hex Spell. For 30 seconds, target foe suffers -1...4...5 Health degeneration and has healing effects reduced by 20...44...50%. If that foe dies while hexed with Reaper's Mark, you gain 5...13...15 Energy." Would make it better than Assasins Promise in atleast one way. It's obviously meant to be a spiking skill, but 5 pips of degen isn't that much... Not really. The effect of Soul Reaping itself provides a large ammount of energy return and with Signet of Lost Souls even with a reduced recharge it will still see minimal play. What it needs as an aditional effect at least. You can go for a spike support or one that benefits necromancer skills. It just needs a 3rd elite worthy effect, or replacing the degeneration, to let it see play again. The energy gain does not need to chance because if it would have a function that improves skill use the energy gain will become a welcome effect. Da Mystic Reaper 13:46, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
