Odd drops?[edit]

I just got a bottle of grog and a slice of pumpkin pie drop. Is this normal? (I have a screen shot in case I need to prove it.) 86.147.151.141 19:59, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

we’re packing this party with drops and activities never before seen in an anniversary celebration! ~ I guess that's why it drop odd drops :) Mistress of Trade 20:01, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Indeed, got all kinds of drops. Seems to be double Kurzick/Luxon Faction aswell--Lordkrall 20:06, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
A guildy says that it's also double HA. I didn't check it myself, but if it's true then it seems like they really make a great festival with all kinds of events in one big event. Mistress of Trade 20:14, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Although I don't have conclusive data, I believe that dye drop rate is also increased... 72.94.198.174 20:32, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
I concur, from simple observation, that dyes seem to be dropping more often. Kruhljak (talk) 04:54, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Bottle of Grog should be added. Have screen as proof. Arnout aka The Emperors Angel 12:26, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

All-in-one week[edit]

Looks like all the other regular weekend events are on as well. I'm getting double xp for elite skill capture, double lucky points for lockpick retain, etc. 118.209.171.108 20:38, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

No double on sweets/party/alch yet... The Only Warrior 21:07, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
I just did some Norn VQ and got double points for it. Was a nice surprise :) 203.55.215.168 01:04, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Not sure if they are supposed to drop, but didn't see them on main page.. anyone else got a chocolate bunny?

Please try to imagine me riffing an electric guitar shaped like a Tribal axe at the top of the highest mountain in the shiverpeaks while massive volcanoes explode in the horizon behind me. So far, every single festival event I tried seems to be active. Even uniques from bosses, dyes, lockpicks. Has anyone tried PvP points? MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 02:31, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Can someone update the page explaining that all the events are active? Or at least the ones we can confirm. From me:
Double Luxon/Kurzick,
Double EXP from capturing elites,
Double EotN rep,
Double Vanquishing,
Double Imperial/Balth.
For reference, Weekend event. Onoros 03:24, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Double luck is not active atm, possibly lockpick drops aren't as well as they're linked, or they may have excluded nine rings from the luck boost--Stratzvyda 08:12, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Lucky/Unlucky only for lockpick success/failure. Onoros 13:32, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
What about double title points in RA/CA/HA/GvG? --Combatter 18:32, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
All doubled. 95.180.62.89 01:16, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Second confirmation to have gotten double Gladiator's point along with double balthazar rewarded Ganon 02:50, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Wow. Is double Luxon/Kurzick title points in effect in addition to double faction in AB/FA/JQ? Cos if so, that's effectively 4x the title points for Factions PvP! --Combatter 06:32, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
See Onoros's comment above: "Double Luxon/Kurzick...Double Imperial/Balth". --Silver Edge 00:37, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Lightbringer rank doubled!--176.195.199.112 19:25, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Cashed in a completed HM book. Received 30k Vanguard rep. NPC said 30k. Chatlog said 15k. Wiki says 30k. If it was doubled, I should've gotten 60k if the NPC and wiki are correct. No double on books? User Karuro Icon.png Karuro 16:58, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Nope. Double faction effects affect enemy kills. I can't remember if end rewards from dungeons and quests are also doubled, but books are definitely not affected. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 18:26, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Rise gave me double rep when I was farming it, so I guess only books are out. A shame, was 60k away from max. User Karuro Icon.png Karuro 18:50, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Overwhelming[edit]

You... know how the probability to get a special, festive drop is independant from the probability to get another?

So... yeah. User Kanda 7th Birthday drops.jpg

Icebreaking[edit]

So Imma break the ice, because I'm that desperately curious... Any word at all on the existance of, or to-be existing 7th birthday present, yet? Gaudy Gourd God 21:30, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm sure someone is checking the .dat atm, give em a while and check guru. The Only Warrior 21:44, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Now that some of us pre-order folk are getting our presents, we've found they are recycled, and it sounds like they are first year (mine was - mini charr shaman, gotta wait a few days for the next few). --Falseprophet 15:38, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Interesting. On the Birthday Present page someone has reported a purple mini elf(2nd year) from their 7th year birthday present. I wonder if it's only birthday minipets or perhaps all possible minipets?... Would only be fair if it was possible to get anything(of course low low chance of the really rare ones). Else, I feel kindda disappointed by this recycle idea. Gaudy Gourd God 15:43, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Wow, IMO that would be totally bogus. Last year tonics were mostly awesome, then a lot of people will get snubbed off with 1st year minis like the boring Devourer or Temple Guardian? God, I hate the Temple Guardian. It's one of the minis I got most often from my 1st year minis. 84.49.75.226 17:00, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Well bogus or not, it is getting ever closer to be official, that the 7th year birthday presents contain any minipet from previous years, except the white ones(thank God) Gaudy Gourd God 17:06, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Higher chance for rares in chests?[edit]

Okay, so here is the story. I was running dagrimmar for my guildies and allys with a total of 4 of us in the party and 3 of os got the Turquoise Staff. Is a higher drop rate for chest rares part of the anniversary?

More likely one-in-a-million probability; unless you can repeatedly duplicate the results. --Falconeye 01:04, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Turquoise staff isn't that rare. I run this on occasion and there are usually 2-4 that drop for party.Brian78wa talk 03:37, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Droprates[edit]

I've been farming UW, and is it just me or are ecto droprates up as well? If so, this could be the most economy breaking event ever.Crimmastermind 01:38, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

The GW1 economy only has 2 months left, so... 98.161.5.111 03:22, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
I did a run in UW and whilst one player recieved like 9 Ectos, everyone else recieved 0-1. I'd say the drops are just as random as usual. --81.98.20.91 09:45, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
I've been seeing quite a few ectos drop recently, since before this event, the other day got 3 drop in the chamber alone, with my heroes along too. So... Wilhelm Maverick 10:34, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Should anyone holding lots of ectos cash them in now, then, you think? Or do you think the increased drop chances and the dropping price of ecto at the trader are just temporary, and that the price will revert back? 166.182.3.158 20:07, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Red bean cakes[edit]

Ive been farming for hours now and haven't seen a single red bean cake drop. Anyone else? 120.148.210.145 09:52, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

I haven't seen any either, same with some of the other things that are supposed to drop, Fire water, Creme Brulee, Rice Wine, and Sugary Blue Drink. Wilhelm Maverick 10:30, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
The announcement probably doesn't mean that those will drop directly from foes, rather that they can be found (through trading the victory tokens or opening festival prizes). -- FreedomBound 12:18, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
I miss the same items as well, so I think we can agree that those 5 missing ones (fire water, creme brulee, rice wine, red bean cake, sugary blue drink) are NOT dropping but only available by trading the tokens in with the collectors. Which is a shame, I was hoping for creme in pre-searing :D [[80.137.47.47 12:28, 25 April 2012 (UTC)]]

7th Birthday for character[edit]

I have a character turning 7 on May 14th, what will the presents be? Tonics, mini's, any ideas? OutlawJoe 22:34, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Miniatures. Still an incomplete list though. Mora 22:37, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
At present, we know it includes all non-white minis from the first five years, but there are also apparently some rare ones not seen in the presents.
Hope that this list is a joke, not even a new mini or tonic :'( was still hoping for a bit content in gw1 as gw2 sadly turned out to be "yet another classical MMO" (only difference is that it takes place in gw lore)) DeoX 16:21, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Mini Bone Dragon for 7th Bday?[edit]

Just received my 7th year birthday gift. I know you shouldn't look a gifted horse in the mouth, but I wasn't expecting this. I opened the gift and it was a Mini Bone Dragon. Yes, a first year green minipet. Or does the 7th year gift give you one random green minipet form previous years? Anyone else received their gift? NexceveN 06:19, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Just found out the miniature page allready has a list with the "new" minis. NexceveN 06:23, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Out with a bang[edit]

One can really say this holiday is to end with a bang. If you want a full hall, this weekend you can have almost everything money based in 2 weeks time. No one cares about a crashed economy in a game that didn't have an economy to begin with and to be frank, rightly so!

I've been playing since day 1 and I still play it. In 6 years I have logged almost 3000 hours, of which absolutely nothing is afk which means on average I played about 1.13 hours daily for 7 years straight. There were lans where we hit "you've been playing for 17 hours please take a break" after which we just kept playing, and months where I wouldn't touch the game at all. But this unique game kept me playing where most other games lost me long ago. I bought the PP CE for GW2 and I do not expect to buy any other game for a loooong time.77.176.89.14 21:16, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

that doesnt fit at all... the only "enemy" that would have use of a solid gw would be people that dont want to play gw2... and even thats wild misinterpretation 85.178.219.104 15:22, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Most stupid Birthday Present ever ?[edit]

I know, I'm ranting on "a gift", it's free, it's a present. But it's just like receiving socks for Christmas, you can't say anything but it's still stupid. Common, people having their 7th Birthday and still playing most probably already have all minipets they were interested in! So why not going for simple things that would please a lot of people? want some examples? Key for Guildwars2 beta Weekends (just like the April's fool on guildwars2 wiki: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Beta_key_hunt ), a 7th anniversary storage tab, key to unlock something from the store, the ultra rare minipets (10-100 distributed worldwide), etc..., etc... But again sorry for the rant & Happy Birthday Guildwars!DeoX 08:43, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

It just doesn't seem like any effort or planning was put into this event. I suspect that the team was hoping to have Guild Wars 2 out by now. Unfortunately, if they keep the gems to gold conversion in the game, it's dead from launch. Those who spend the most real money on the game will have the best chance of succeeding. Also, they have taken out the social aspect of trading with their real time commodities system. Complete disappointment. Allisa Wonderland 17:04, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

I don't know how the whole gem thing is going to work out, but it seems like most people here are saying that GW2 is going to be bad. I couldn't disagree more. I had an absolute blast playing GW2 in the beta. Sure, it is going to be a different game from GW1, and I will always love GW1, but it is going to be good. I really hope they don't break it with the gems, but I trust the guildwars team. 68.160.31.76 00:28, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
GW2: Feels more like Unreal than GW1. Emphasis on physically avoiding in combat vs. rolls? Sounds like we'll be back to watching everyone jumping constantly, as I found was extremely effective. The graphics are incredible, but everything I loved about GW1 feels like it is missing.. and Anet has dumped this crappy "event" on us to water down all of the efforts that we took to get our titles. All the Victory Tokens are for what? Title track points? Isn't that a bit repetitive to the water-like flow of points drops at the same time? headshake. Allisa Wonderland 15:19, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
For those that only got whites in their presents, a chance to get at least an uncommon for sure and higher chances for golds and uniques would be refreshing. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 13:22, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
I understand where you're coming from. I have pretty much all of the present minis, so getting repeats isn't very exciting. That said, I'm glad it's not something ultra rare to collect this close to GW2. Last year was good because there was no purpose other than fun for the tonics. There was no harm in not having every tonic to dedicate.
I'm looking forward to gems for gold and gold for gems in GW2. It means that ArenaNet can make cosmetic and time-saving things that all of us can have in one way or another, which will likely result in more pretty cosmetic things, and it also means that players can effectively pay each other to farm gold for each other - with ArenaNet ultimately reaping the reward. In theory, it sounds excellent to me. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 13:25, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
@Allisa: You do realize that there will be gold farmers/buyers no matter what ANet does, right? The gems-to-coin conversion gives a safe, ban-free, hacked-accounts-preventing, non-legal-issue-inducing way for people who want lots of coin to buy it for cash. 129.161.36.15 20:51, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

I think that's a cop out to monetize microtransactions in the game to make up for not charging a monthly fee. It's totally understandable, after watching WoW's coffers fill up, but making it "acceptable" to buy gold means there is no reason to play for it. Maybe in a single player game, it doesn't matter, but when it has the ability to have an overwhelming effect on the game's economy by essentially inflating gold to worthlessness, what's the point of even having gold? With the 3rd party black market, there is the feeling of doing something wrong, uncertainty about being ripped off, etc. that keep it from achieving mainstream usage. Putting gold purchasing into the game will simply make it ethically acceptable. Now you're going to see 3rd party gold farms undercutting your market (in real life) just as the GW1 player-traders undercut the merchants to establish our niche. Thanks so much for killing the social trading system that flourishes in Istan and Pre-Searing Ascalon. Allisa Wonderland 15:26, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

There's reason to play for it. If you get it by playing, you don't have to buy it. You don't get the cash directly with money. You must get gems, and then get gold from players. And as long as you can get gems with gold and gold with gems, stuff you can't get with gems with but you can with gold, and stuff you can't get with gold but you can with with gems, both have value and balance themselves out. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 16:11, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
As long as you can use the commodities exchange to convert gems and gold (which the game currently offers in beta form) then your statement regarding "can't get with gems/with gold" is inaccurate. It's a two step process. Is there a plan to change this in release that I am unaware of? Have you played the game and not seen this page? Allisa Wonderland 00:31, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Allisa, Mith was addressing your statement about inflating gold to worthlessness. There are three things that could happen with this dual currency system. The demand for gems could be greater than the demand for gold, resulting in it taking a lot of gold per gem to buy, and meaning that people exchanging gems for gold will get a lot for their money. This would make buying gems even more attractive to players who are able to buy them. In a second scenario, the demand for gold could be greater than the demand for gems. This will mean that people with real dollars will get almost no gold for their gems, and people with gold will be able to trade them for desirable Gem Store purchases with ease. In a third scenario, the two currencies will balance each other. We may see some or all of these in the early days before the economy stabilises.
It's important to remember that buying gems does not cause gold inflation. No gold is added to the game with this transaction, and if players try to generate more gold to buy gems, that is no different to people trying to earn gold legitimately in any other game. The supply of gems is inexhaustible, but every gem will find its way to the coffers of the Gem Store eventually. For richer players, this means that they can save time. For poorer or cash-reticent players, this means that they can get nice cosmetic upgrades that wouldn't exist in a world where all players were all poor or cash-reticent. I can't find a flaw in this system. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 06:26, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Dashface: Thanks for your thoughtful insight. I am a little confused by your statement that buying gems will not cause gold inflation. I can't find how much a gem is going to cost, but let's say I spend $500 on the first day on gems and convert that to gold, how did that gold already exist in the game? Converting the free gems in the beta at the going rate made a massive change in the game for me, going from running around naked hoping to fix my armor again to starting my new empire! If I'm going to play this game every day for the next seven years then it's a reasonable investment. Does separating the geographic regions in the real world help out with this, so non-first-world players don't have to compete with us with real $? (no sarcasm) Oh, and one last question, if anyone knows... is there an "real" economist on staff who figures this stuff out? Allisa Wonderland 17:57, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
So when Mike O'Brien says “… it’s never OK for players who spend money to have an unfair advantage over players who spend time," does that mean he's supporting something that he thinks is not okay by allowing people to buy gold through the gem system? Allisa Wonderland 18:47, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Collectors[edit]

They really didn't have to remove the Victory Token collectors already. Normally they leave the event collecters for a couple of days, now people have to hold on to the tokens till Dragon Festival. A bitty bit annoying and irregular. Gaudy Gourd God 10:27, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Its entirely normal for birthday celebrations to remove the collectors. (after all, we did have 2 weeks) File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 10:47, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

A piece of information about 7h year birthday drops[edit]

Hi everyone,

We noticed a lot of heated debates about what kind of minis dropped from the Seventh Year Birthday Presents, and some players suggested that this generated an unhealthy amount of speculation. Given that the speculations are only about the rarest minis, we've decided to share with you the information about these minis and the wiki seemed like the best way to do that. So here is the list of rarest minis dropping from the Seventh Year Birthday Presents:

  • Oni
  • Naga Raincaller
  • Zhed Shadowhoof
  • Shiro'ken Assassin
  • Vizu

Thanks. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 18:37, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
