Fancy Armor[edit]

You need to purchase 50 pieces of Basic Armor before you have acces to Fancy Armor." Is this per character or per account --Kashrlyyk

Since you get Tournament Reward Points on account basis, i think you need 50 per account --Maku Dugon
Yes, this is account based --User:Jurrit
So after getting 50 basic armor every newly created PvP character can immediately create an elite armor? That would be really bad. --Kashrlyyk
Does anyone know why there's 2 Krytan helmets for Warriors? -- Gordon Ecker 09:49, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
So I bough them both, but they are exactly the same. Jurrit 14:52, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Why are Fancy armor listed with just the chest piece? Isn't all pieces available? - anja talk (contribs) 09:12, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Did I made a mistake here? I though all pieces had the same name, otherwise it is possible to remove the last part of the armor name so that it is the same as with basic armor. --Jurrit 10:00, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Ancient Cuirass is the name of the chest piece, for example. The others are ancient helm, andient gloves etc. I'll change it - anja talk (contribs) 10:02, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

do you just need to purchase them or do you need to keep them in storage?

They're not unlocks, they're actual armour pieces which you have to buy again if you want to re-create them. So you'll have to put them somewhere if you want to wear different armour. Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 08:39, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Ranger masks[edit]

The ranger masks listed cant be the same art as the Ranger Prophecies masks they are linking too, since those are already available as standard. Anyone know what art they use? - anja talk (contribs) 17:55, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

I tested it. They do use the armor that they are linked too. The standard masks that are already available are linked to a certain attribute, but with the masks you can buy from tolkano you can have a different mask for a certain attribute. Jurrit
Ah, that makes sense. So, you can, for example, buy a Tamer Mask with Marksmanship on it? - anja talk (contribs) 16:21, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes, but you have to make sure that you first create a mask with Marksmanship on it, before you buy a mask from tolkano. Because there is not an option to change the attribute afterwards.--Jurrit 17:12, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
o.O I'm quite happy I will never get to use that system :P Seems very confusing - anja talk (contribs) 17:18, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Elite canthan fancy armor[edit]

does anyone find it odd that elite canthan armor is considered basic? --VVong|BA 01:09, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

woops, its not just elite canthan either... its others too. --VVong|BA 01:11, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
I noticed a pattern. The non-elite versions of Canhan, Exotic, Imperial and Drakescale are available through the PvP equipment panel, as are the non-elite Paragon and Dervish versions of Sunspear armor. It doesn't work the other way around, the elite versions of many basic armor sets available through the PvP equipment panel are fancy armor rather than basic armor. Paragons and Dervishes probably get Ancient armor as basic armor because of their narrom armor selection. -- Gordon Ecker 02:24, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Guardian of the Hunt...[edit]

...is an exotic axe skin? --Karlos 09:34, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

error/bug in the game[edit]

Monk Krytan silk armor is listed as unlockable (in the game, as well as here), but it should not be unlockable, since that armor is free from the equipment screen.--Xapti 22:38, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

?[edit]

It is possible to upgrade weapons from the 1 Million Edition Upgrade and use them in PVE. --Nines 01:25, 27 July 2007 (CEST)

What does this have to do with tolkano, or pvp items, or armor? --Jurrit 22:55, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
You could update those weapons as if they where PvP weapons. Semms not to work anymore though. 61.208.142.36 12:48, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Game updates/20070720 with this update that was enabled. So in theory it should work. I never use those bonus weapons. --Jurrit 13:21, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

GWEN armor[edit]

Will they let people get GWEN armor with tourney reward points anytime soon? Misfate 00:39, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

That would be nice. Maybe we should ask Gaile or one of the developers. --Jurrit 07:28, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Campaign Required?[edit]

Can I get Elite Canthan Armor if I don't own Factions? Anon

Noone has an answer to this question?? 84.57.247.76 23:23, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Saved to Account or...[edit]

Are your tournament rewards saved to your account or to your character? It makes a lot more sense to have it saved in the Equipment Builder than as a easily deletable skin. --Alreajk

To the character. futhermore, you can only have that skin once per time you unlock it. (so if you want a sundering long sword and an icy long sword at the same time, say for weapon swapping, youd need to unlock it 2x.)--Ryudo 01:36, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Crystalline Sword[edit]

When you get these weapons, I am assuming they are already customized, but how can you switch PvP chars? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:68.33.180.179 (talk).

It is possible to transfer the weapons from one PvP character to another by putting the weapons on your heroes. --Jurrit 08:17, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
No. -- Gordon Ecker 09:06, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Yes it is!. If you make an PvP weapon. And if you unlocked and applied the Crystalline skin to it, it is possible to transfer the weapon between all your PvP chars through the heroes. Of course if you have a PvE Crystalline weapon it is not possible to change the customization. --Jurrit 09:22, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
So your saying I can switch it to PvP chars, but I can't craft it and sell it in LA? --The preceding unsignedcomment was added by User:68.33.180.179 (talk).
At Tolkano you can only buy the SKIN. And this skin can only be applied to a PvP weapon. If this does not answer your question you should be more elaborate about your question, because you don't give much information --Jurrit 19:40, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Checked this and jurrit is right! One can transfer skinned weapons throughout all their pvp chars meaning that as long as you have 2 pvp slots functioning you will not lose skinned weapons on heroes when re-rolling. Which is something i never knew about. Well that's just upped the usefulness of that feature by about 10000. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 01:39, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

split article?[edit]

what do you think about a new article for the basic weapon section? —ZerphatalkThe Improver 20:45, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

You could split Tolkano to 'dialog and general information' and 'pvp rewards'. PvP Rewards could be divided in weapons and armor. And the armor and weapons could be divided in basic, fancy and exotic. So what are your thoughts about it?--Jurrit 09:34, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, a new order would also be nice, but i actually think a split would be the best solution, as the Article becomes quite big otherwise. In fact, it is. Armor sets do also have a special page and are not shown on the Armorer's page, why hesitate to do so with Tolkano? —ZerphatalkThe Improver 14:27, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

general questions[edit]

Ok wait let me get this straight. you work your butt off and get unlock the gear you want for a single pvp char. when you delete that pvp char you are forced to start over again? so if i make a char and get em to have full vabian gear and decide... eh i dont like the char, time to move on w/e. that set of armor art i will not be able to use again unless a i make another char of the same class and what now and fight my way back to that point? or is it that you gain access to the certain teirs of armor art, so i reach "Fancy armor" delete the char make a new one, i'll have the same old standard gear but all i have to do is get x amount of tournament points and and simply access the fancy armor art again. i dont have to work back up from square one...

i gues what i'm trying to clear up is do your points and armor art, resest every time you delete the char you earned them with? cause i was hopeing that when u unlocked the armor art it get added to your pvp equipment "locker" so that you could go back and craft it on any pvp char you make. but what i'm getting from this is that your earning are... well i gues the word i'm looking for here is volitale. prolly spelled it wrong. 70.3.115.73 16:36, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

The armors you buy are character based. But unlocks of fancy armor, fancy weapons, etc are account wide. For example you bought 10 armor pieces and delete this character, than you only need to buy 40 more armor pieces to have access to fancy armor. You could than delete all your characters, make a pvp char and have access to the fancy armor. --Jurrit 16:47, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Does it let us use these on our PvE characters too? I'm not much of a PvP person, so I'm just curious. Thanks. User Foxysheri sig.png Foxysheri 22:49, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
No --Jurrit 17:40, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to open this one up again... but I'm thinking of deleting a PvE char and replacing it with a PvP one so I don't have to cap so much and waste so much gold. If I unlock an armor piece, let's say it's a Ranger mask... then it'll be worn by my char, right? If I delete that mask, will I be able to create it again (as in, use the skin) from the menu without having to spend points? Or, in other words: if I unlock something, will it, from then on, be available in the skins menu when I create a weapon? Or will I only be able to get a certain skin when spending points on a PvP item I have already created? Saphatorael 23:57, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
If you delete an mask that you created by spending tournament reward points and you delete this mask. Than you need to spent new tournament reward points to (re)create a new mask. The only thing you unlock is access to a new level of skins. So by buying 50 armor skins you have access to a whole new set of pvp skins. This unlock you will keep and is account wide. --Jurrit 16:33, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Can you clarify this? Are you saying that fancy unlocks are account-wide, but basic unlocks are character-specific? Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 15:10, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Can we buy the armor from PvE and work it that way instead of spending points. Or do I have to spend tournament points on basic armor to get access to fancy?

I don't understand your first question. Answer to the second question is: yes. --Jurrit 21:34, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Overwriting Current Armor and Weapons[edit]

If you had no armor on, would you get the armor that you had bought off talkano? Same thing with the weapons, if you have none equipped, or just a crappy one, will you get the previous stats, but with a new weapon skin?Fire Staff 09:12, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

With weapons, you have to make one with the mods you want, then talk to him & he'll change it. You can change the mods on it using the "J" key for PvP Equipment. I'm not sure about armor.

hey if i buy a druidic wand from tolkono for pvp which attribute will it be from? 216.45.99.187 04:19, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Whatever the stats the weapon had. --84.176.61.188 01:19, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Prismatic Staff[edit]

In the List of Exotic Staffs there is a Prismatic Staff listed. The link leads to the Portal Staff, which is a little irritating. What sort of staff is? What does it look like? --84.176.61.188 01:19, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Well after doing a search the only staff named prismatic in the whole game is a green staff which drops from a dungeon chest which seems to be a portal staff dyed white. It seems odd though as you can already get a Ether Staff which is just the same as a portal staff with a different name. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 01:27, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
just did a quick sum in my head and to buy that weapon would cost 1230 tournament points, which is roughly equivalent to 1,230,000 gold due to the current cost of zaishen keys, thus I doubt that we will ever find out what some of those weapons look like. *sigh* Here's hoping they re-jig the reward system to make it more reasonable to use the rewards on weapons/armour instead of just on keys. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 01:33, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

New Armor and Bug[edit]

Today I decided to unlock some more PvP armor for my elementalist, and I noticed under the Basic Armor category some EotN skins. I decided to get some Slim Spectacles but when I did, the glasses did not show up on my character's face despite the helm status set to "Always Show" and in the Inventory window, the icon for the glasses looks like an hour glass. I had first guessed that they didn't show up since there's a title requirement to obtain them in PvE, but that made no sense since this is a PvP reward. Anyone know what's going on?

And here's a screenshot:

Update the Lists[edit]

Can someone add all the new skins Tolkano has to offer in their appropriate categories? I won't have access to GW for another 8-10 hours or I'd do it myself. 72.145.116.61 16:17, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

I Don't Get it[edit]

Why don't they just add the stuff you unlock to the window rather then changing what you have on--70.105.27.220 03:09, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Apparently that's what they wanted to do, but it wasn't practical due to the was the PvP Equipment panel was coded. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 05:16, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

BMP Skins[edit]

Wiki says: "Guild Wars Wiki notes

   * This update also added new PvP Reward Skins from Eye of the North and the Bonus Mission Pack. "

I have bought BMP last week but I don't see any of BMP skins available--Bargaw 14:16, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

What is de date of this update? I can't find this note. Can you give me the link --Jurrit 07:07, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Never mind, I found it near the December update archive. This note is incorrect. There is no PvP reward Skins Skins available from Eye of the North or BMP. The update before the update note said they accidentally enabled these NON functional skins. Which is also proven by the comment above "New Armor and Bug", the armor didn't show up. I also checked it myself. There is no new fancy or basic armor added. --Jurrit 07:23, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

You can upgrade your bonus items on a pve character threw tolkano. Just did it a second ago with my pve mesmer using the luminecent wand seeing what skins were available. I realized i was pve and that i shouldnt be getting any options on it. Then i tried changing my nevermore bow to great ancient skin and it worked! Bow looks like ancient skin and everything. In my opinion the only bonus weapon worth upgrading would be that Steel Bow. Rest is junk compared to what u can make in pve for much cheaper anyhow.--Justice 09:50, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

I tried it to a liitle time ago, and it didn't work at all.... And how are you going to prove it? |Cyan LightUser-Cyan Light sig-icon.jpgLive!| 09:53, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

why do i need to prove it? i burnt 10 pts ~8k on making nevermore look different. trust me it works just fine--Justice 10:11, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Wintergreen?[edit]

Hey guys, can anyone tell me how I can get wintergreen weapons, I looked up info and all I got was something about past giveaways from tourneys (that's why I'm writing this here). Thanks. Ninjas In The Sky 09:50, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

wait untill the next time they do it--Justice 11:49, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

I think Tolkano should be placed in Kamadan, LA and either Shing Jae or Kaineng center! It would make life SO much easyer ;-) Cowabunga 15:16, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Big update needed[edit]

Yay for the new update, but it's gonna take a bit of work to update everything, I'll try to make a start on basic weapons just adding the new available skins Mal 09:29, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

All basic weapons have been added, some aren't linked to an existing page yet but I'm not sure if a Lesser Etched Sword is the same as an Etched Sword so wasn't taking the risk.. Mal 10:12, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Bonus Items[edit]

Still work. PvE items are obviously still cheaper then burning a huge amount of tournement points or z-coins though. Justice 09:17, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Do you need a BMP to purchase BMP items from tolkano? --94.209.103.99 13:35, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

You dont actually recieve items from him. He reskins items. When I said bonus items I meant /bonus command items and not BMP items. He will only reskin pvp items (aka pvp characters only) OR bonus items (/bonus, pvp or pve). Ive done the hourglass and the nevermore as reskins so its not just limited to a certain set as some kind of bug (hourglass = GW:EN, nevermore = Game ofthe Year). Justice 01:20, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Pretty sure the bmp skins will work for anyone with an item that he can skin, and im thinking that for campaigns you dont have aswell with exclusive skins. Justice 01:22, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

I see what you mean. However, I can't see any of the BMP items in Tolkano's list. I wanted to make a tactics Tengu shield for my monk, but it simply doesn't show up. --94.209.103.99 08:41, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

This should be possible, are you checking the basic weapons menu at the bottom? And are you on a pvp character? And you need the BMP pack to be able to get the BMP weapons from Tolkano as well.Ego 05:22, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Well thats the wierd part. Campaign exclusive weapons arnt like that I dont think. That restriction just doesnt make any sense to me since it is for pvp and BMP is pve. No big loss i suppose. Justice 07:42, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Re-Modding[edit]

Okay so lets say im on a pvp charachter and i change my Blood staff for another staff lets say for the sake of argument its a zodiac staff. If i switch my blood staff with a zodiac staff will it have blood req or can i choose? also will the mods on the blood staff carry over the zodiac? if so is it possible to re-mod them like you would the blood staff? (use the equipment window to change mods and such) One more thing if you trade it between PvP charachters will the customazation change charachters as well? There are tons of missing details about the weapons from this guy. I MUST KNOOOOWWW!!! 76.20.33.106 01:57, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Only the skin changes. You can change the mods on that item by creating another one with J (but not the req). Your new skin should show up on the list. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 01:59, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
So essentially buying that skin would add it to your list of pvp weapons???
For anyone who looks at the history of this page im sorry about that. my computer went crazy for a sec. >.> 76.20.33.106 02:05, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't add to your list, it replaces the one you previously had equipped. If you replace a blood staff, then every time you make a blood staff, it will have the new skin. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 02:07, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Sweeeeeet!!!!!! thats awesome. now i dont feel so trepaditious about getting one. Seeing as i delete pvp charachters so often. >.> 76.20.33.106 02:08, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
It will only let you make that skin if you have one in your inventory. A common solution is to put acquired skins on heroes before deleting a pvp character (hero items get copied when you make new pvp chars). ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 02:10, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Dude thats freaking awesome. im so happy i get to use that skin finally. :D also will it be dyeable or whut?
Yeah, you can recreate it with a different dye. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 03:00, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Common armor[edit]

Since it's possible to unlock EotN skins for PvP characters you can also unlock stuff like a Blindfold. It's kinda hard to add those skins without a space to add it, I'm not really a wiki wiz and I'd probably mess up leaving you with more work, so basicly the request is: could someone add a row or something for Common armor? I think I could fill it in for you. Mal 16:06, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

The /bonus anomaly[edit]

Perhaps "Weapons created by the /bonus command, even by a PvE character, can be changed by Tolkano." could be changed to "The skins of weapons created by the /bonus command, even by a PvE character, can be changed by Tolkano" to add a bit of clarity? For a while I thought that this meant I could change the stats of my /bonus items! But is this anomaly/bug likely to be fixed? Am I correct in thinking this means I could effectively get a bow with the appearance of a Silverwing Recurve Bow that I can use in PvE as long as the stats/bow type of it are one of the bows I can create using /bonus? If so, this seems v cool but also kinda wrong somehow... --Combatter 02:40, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Also, if the /bonus item is moddable in any way, is the resulting "red" item (that has had its skin changed by Tolkano) still moddable? --Combatter 02:53, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
For future reference you can change the text yourself ^^ It's what the wiki is all about. If someone disagrees they'll revert and you can flame each other discuss maturely on the talk page. To answer your questions, on the PvP reward page it says: "Items that are upgraded by Tolkano can be modified an unlimited number of times". Of course this doesn't necessarily refer to bonus weapons. You'll have to find a kind sir to test it for you (or test yourself)--Wingsy 12:11, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
The bonus weapons are still bonus weapons, so modding rules still apply to them the same. The skin (and name of course) is all that changes. -- Konig/talk 14:51, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
I was a little hesitant to change the text in case it was actually possible to modify the stats of /bonus weapons and I was just too stupid to work out how! :$ Thanks for the answers. I just changed the skin of my Sundering Darksteel Longbow to that of a Greater Mursaat Bow and now I can't seem to create another Darksteel Longbow, even when I put the Mursaat Bow in storage. Anyone else had this problem? --Combatter 10:44, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
The weapons are still /bonus weapons. So try putting it on a hero. -- Konig/talk 18:33, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Well, this conversation has been dead for nearly 4 years, but I did perform the test. I created the Nevermore Flatbow using the /bonus command with a PVE character. I took it to Tolkano and changed it to a different basic weapon using the Purchase Rewards menu. Salvaging was disabled on the bow altogether, I was not allowed to replace the bowstring (thus the initial Poisonous modifier was required to remain), and I was not allowed to add an inscription (there is no inscription slot, but I tried anyway). However, I was allowed to add as many bow grips as I wanted, each one replacing the one before (no salvaging allowed). So for this particular item, I was allowed to add and replace the one missing modifier (the bow grip), even after upgrading to a red PVP skin on a PVE character, but I was not able to alter the original mods in any way. 172.1.196.216 05:21, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
