Looks like someone just slapped on a vamp mod and used texmod. :| --24.0.64.215 14:52, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Hall of Monuments[edit]
This great weapon has been added; why not give it HoM integration?-- Shew 22:55, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- While great, not epic enough for HoM. Hell, if I recall only two different kinds of weapon sets can be added.-- anguard 22:59, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
looks pretty ugly[edit]
though it may partly be the bad quality of the screenshot. -- Mafaraxas 03:53, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
- Uploaded some alt screenshots; they're not prodo quality either, but they might help: file talk:Vampiric Dragon Sword.jpg#Alternate_Screenshots

Aquisition:[edit]
Does Nicholas give you this randomly instead of giving you one of the "Gifts of the Huntsman"? And I'd imagine this only applies to post-searing Nicholas, right? Having one of these in pre would be bad-ass, as well as a maaaaaaaaaaaaaajor gold sink! --SetandSpike 21:42, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ermm...how would receiving a weapon act as a gold sink? 60.241.230.79 05:21, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- No, it is an item randomly received when you open a gift. And yes, only in post. -- Wyn 08:06, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- I said it could be a goldsink like, let's say I just made a pre char and I get one of these, by chance.. Perma pre's who have maxed their inventory gold would probably be willing to pay 100k for it in pre just to have it, bother because it's a unique skin but also a modable max damage, q9 weapon. But since this item is only available post, it's silly. --SetandSpike 03:56, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
- Goldsinks remove gold from the game, like standing on 9 Rings. Trading gold for an item between players is not a goldsink. --Arduinna 15:15, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
- Can't get it in pre... Gift of the travler is not the same as gift of the huntsman... MrPaladin 14:21, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- I thought a Gold Sink was something introduced to the game which players would dump loads of money on (maybe a better term would be Gold Toilet?). Kind of like Vabbian and Obsidian Armor, Amethyst Aegis, and other ultra-rare items that are no better (statistically) than their blue, non-elite equivalent/counterparts. --SetandSpike 03:47, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, those are great gold sinks (prestige armor and weapons, lockpicks, food and booze), because they remove money from the economy. One player giving another 100k doesn't do that. If an NPC sold this weapon for 100k, that would be a gold sink. --Mystisteel 04:28, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Use?[edit]
Cant really see their use. Since among warriors, axe is the supreme dmg weapon. No person of his/her right mind would use a sword for a pure dmg dealer. And vampiric weapons is mostly used for dmg, and spikes in particular. Like vampiric bows is used for spikes by rangers in pvp. Sword wielders are more of tanks in pve and pressure/conditions in pvp. This has no real use at all.--84.217.17.34 12:59, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hi my name is Dragon Slash and I deal a lot of damage in PvE. 189.83.148.28 16:18, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- Read the 5th sentence, or the second to last one. He says "Sword wielders are more of tanks in pve and pressure/conditions in pvp." and he is correct as far as I can tell. StatMan 17:05, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- Well, of course not. None of the dragon swords do. It's a gigantic "switch to X +armor shield" the moment you see one coming. The point is for them to look cool, and I guess this one is alright at that, but I still don't care for it, personally. --Jette 13:44, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Swords can do extreme damage when used with skills like hundred blades. For example, hundred blades + hamstring on a mesmer would cripple, and as swords typically do 40 damage alone, 60 damage or so with hundred blades. I use a sword bar for PvP, and the enemy team doesn't typically come out flawless, if they win at all. Kalizar, someone who owns with swords.
Also, this is a lot more useful than Fiery or Icy dragon swords, as rangers are defended by both of those, and this provides a means of healing for bars that can't contain self heals.

Whats next?[edit]
Fiery, Icy, Vampiric, whats next Zealous? Blue Flames? They gotta add a Blue one...so we can light saber battle em!!
- Icy is blue 65.6.156.101 10:59, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
- Input sarcasm. The Ultimate Dragon Sword is next, it has it all. Everytime you attack, it changes mod and changes color, you never know what you gonna get. Stop sarcasm. I never really liked any of the dragon swords, I would rather have some new weapon models instead of skins. Qaletaqa Hania 05:18, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Swords can be great damage dealers combined with barbs and hundred swords. Though i fear it will be nerfed
The Over 9000 Dragon Sword comes with the unique inscription: "WHAT?! 9000?!" Foes flee in terror (Chance: over 9000%) Like most Dragon swords, you can't salvage this mod. 78.145.207.136 16:28, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Texmod anyone?[edit]
Sorry to those who actually think this is a good weapon, but this has got to be the ugliest and most simplistic weapon mod Anet's ever done. I could do this to an FDS or IDS using Texmod and make it look better without buying a million Gifts of the Traveler to get this utter and complete dissapointment. Anet, Seriously... This of all the things you COULD have done? --Adamus Marden 04:50, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- I sort of like it, actually, it'd make a neat caster sword. But the inherent vampiric makes that impossible. :( Also: The IDS originated as a hoax from someone using a variant of texmod. --Jette 05:20, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- The problem with using Texmod to make it "look better" is that no one else would be able to see your mod. I'd imagine one of the biggest draws of having this weapon (however much you pay for it) is for the look to others which, let's be honest, is the point of most of the gold sink items around (obsidian armor, ultra rare minis, crystalline/eternal/BDS/blah,blah,blah weps, etc.).--Dar Drakor 14:44, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
:O[edit]
Looks so sexy dont you think? --Super Igor flame my shove sin bar! + WTB GOLDEN RIN RELICS!! 23:53, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
I actually dig the look of it and I am not even a fan of the color red. Looks like a beastly caster sword for a necro. I have the Icy version which fits very well with my Ele. I wouldn't mind this for say my Necro or even Ritualist. :)
May seem simplistic to some, but it's hard not to like this one[edit]
I'm farming traveler gifts as well for this one - design is not exactly a super fresh model, but the color scheme goes great with my black armor set. Fabulous sword!
- While on the subject of model design, where in the world is a 2009/2010 design a weapon contest? If GW2 is a 2011 release, I could make the intellectual jump that a contest would be a perfect idea for each of the weapons. I conclude that with staff resources tied up in GW2, why not throw a new contest out there. That way the artists don't have to think - leave it up to the players. That's assuming that they don't have another GW1 expansion coming out in 2010. *sorry for being off topic, just thinking out loud this morning. cecil 10:38, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
