Drop table[edit]

Never updated a page about a new item before. How do you create a table that shows who can drop these?

I have gotten some from Am Fah, in Shenzun Tunnels. Do they drop across all campaigns? (sry forgot to sign) Kayg 21:49, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

there droping in pre

Dropped in EOTN dung Soo as well. [23:50 GTM +2, 17 August 2012] Coralline Verse

Just copy/paste from a regular page which looks like what you want :) Gaudy Gourd God 21:51, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

I assume its a world drop like any other event (i.e. cupcakes). Rolo 21:51, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

^sounds very plausible actually. the npc lady did say it's some kind of event Gaudy Gourd God 21:53, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
Yup, they're dropping even in pre-searing. 75.83.131.116 05:09, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

so what is it and what is wayfarer's reverie? wiki page it points to is blank 17.08.12~~>H2L

It's not blank anymore :P 193.90.104.34 22:09, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

it's not marked on the event's calendar, nor it is when logging in, it's not annual then? I'm so confuzed @.@ mink44 22:54, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

It's completely new. I assume it will last until Guild Wars 2 is launched or short after, but no official word has been given yet (at least as far as I know; the wiki page about the update says it lasts until the 30th but gives no source). --188.99.91.72 22:58, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
When I logged in tonight, didn't see an announcement on Wayfarer's, but when I logged out, there was a notice on the login page. 69.177.224.26 02:46, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Seems to be quite a high drop rate. Just after the update was added, I was doing Nahpui Quarter mission on a new character with a full party of henchies and I collected 5 marks then. - edit to sign 94.168.242.5 07:41, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Drop Rate Research[edit]

Kills Drops Percentage Note
373 14 3.75 Vanquished Snake Dance
116 6 5.17 Vanquished Dreadnought's Drift
290 8 2.76 Vanquished Lornar's Pass
455 9 1.98 Vanquished Drakkar Lake - Winning Was Sheen 01:16, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Counted these when vanquishing (which means HM of course) areas in Southern Shiverpeaks. Myself with 7 heroes. Kill number taken from vanquish effect info. Overall drop rate for me has therefore been close to 3.6% Fjord 10:06, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Completed?[edit]

Do these continue dropping if you have completed the Reverie Quests? Also can they drop on a character other than the one who took the quest? I finished the quests last night on my ele, and tried vaettir farming on my sin just now, and not a single one dropped for me Simooshy 14:19, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

did 6 vaettir farm runs with the quests, got 3 drops. also tried raptor farming, no good.
See Talk:Wayfarer's Reverie#More than disambiguation?. --Silver Edge 08:46, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Yep, I've had some drop on other chars now, must just have been bad luck :p Simooshy 18:45, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

May be just a coincidence[edit]

But I tend to find considerably more Wayfarer's Marks in areas that are farther away from outposts and cities. I think we should start researching differences to zones adjacent to outposts/cities in comparisons to zones only adjacent only to other zones. - Infinite - talk 17:45, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Sounds sensible, that way ANet is halting the aggressive farming of these, and "rewarding" those who get them amongst regular gameplay 80.223.224.108 14:22, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
It doesn't sound sensible to me, there's no evidence such a mechanism exists, and to make one from scratch during GW2 crunch time seems unlikely. And to stop people from getting 1 point consumables when they're already giving away tons of HoM stuff freely? Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 16:53, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Farming code[edit]

Yes there is is such a thing as above, unsure if above writer is meaning the sub category of droprate modifiers and as such the distance to an outpost/town. Idk if total time spent by all does impact total droprate, which it very well could.

Droprate is impacted by the amount of total time spent in a specific area (yes there is some gracing to this but, not a full reset), the age of your character (ever wondered why you only get drapes from hidden treasure) and to some amount the amount of times you've done/opened/used something (ever wondered why you get less and less green drops in area you farm such as doa?).

There are other modifiers aswell but i canno't remember them off the top of my head. Im confident DP matters somehow in the tweaking function between farming and adventuring but i have no tangile proof for it. As for the rest I've been around since the start and with players who's mapped these kinds of things and made tables long long ago when farming code was first introduced for real, and some empirical proof i've gotten from playing through on 10-25 characters (i've quit the gamea few times and deleted many chars - thus the uncertain number). That aswell as chatting with plenty of ppl about it back in the day. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 178.30.75.59 (talk) at 20:23, 22 February 2024 (UTC).

Pointless[edit]

Not enough of these drop to be significant. The prizes are virtually worthless and seem to be more of something to 'flesh out' the idea of a festival. Not a festival. Just a way to give many people the means to fill the HoM with an expensive and rare item and keep everyone interested in filling the HoM and create more interest in GW2. 124.178.180.212 16:37, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

I agree with the first part of your post, these are pretty worthless. I've been playing for a few hours and have 14, which is relatively useless. I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about in the second part though...--Saera Serena 19:40, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
He means they are beasically handing out free Torment Weapons (of which 1 is required for HoM) to keep people thinking about GW2 and getting rewards for it, in GW1. It's a PR excercise to generate future revenue, and frankly, quite clever on a business level for them to do this. Puk 00:29, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Re the "expensive and rare item", as you say, it's for filling out the HoM, and only for filling out the HoM, because you can't choose the weapon and it's customized, so it's essentially useless as an actual weapon. Therefore it has no purpose other than HoM fodder and is another wasted slot in storage, which is quite sad. It wouldn't have been hard to stick an NPC in EotN to let you choose a weapon that could be put to some use. Morgaine 06:29, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
You get to choose what profession it's for, and even if you have a full set of tormenteds in your HoM, it's a slick hero weapon. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 17:00, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Well, you get to choose what profession it's for given that profession has done all of the campaigns (or you are willing to do the rest now.) Also, the way I understand it, I'd like a Focus or slick shield for my monk, but will be given a staff I won't use much instead. Not enough choice.--Saera Serena 22:43, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
You can always move the proofs/gift from the char that completes the quest onto a char that can access a Xunlai vault.. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 22:47, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh my god... I'm so stupid, of course.--Saera Serena 21:27, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Speculation[edit]

Interested if there's any speculation about some end-of-the-event NPC being added that will collect a stack of these in exchange for something otherwise missed during the event (eg. Reverie Gift). It's obviously unlikely that you'd be able to get an actual gift and another tormented weapon, but it does seem common in some events for NPCs to turn up after a finale. After the Wintersday finale, for example, NPCs appear requesting a stack of candy cane shards for both of the festival hats if you otherwise missed that part of the event... ninestories 23:09, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

weeeeelll the dragon art for gw2 is everywhere... npc wanting 20 stacks for an el cele dragon tonic? muahahaha ^_^ sorry heading said "Speculation" so u asked for it xD 71.181.57.50 02:13, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Pre-Searing[edit]

So, since these drop in Pre-Searing, is there any use for them there? I don't think there's a collector in Ascalon City (or anywhere else). The only way to use them is to take your perma pre char out of Pre during this festival (since the collectors will probably leave after it and this is a one-time festival) which is a shame since Pre is pretty much a solo area -> more drops. Of course, if the collectors stay after the festival, then it's a different thing... Jeree95 14:42, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Just trade them temporarily to a friend or guildmate who can run your items from Pre to Post. ninestories 15:25, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Acquisition?[edit]

There isn't a section in this article to tell us how to acquire this item. What are the best ways of farming for this drop? --138.75.231.164 21:03, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

AFAIR they can dropped from any foe during Wayfarer's Reverie (no idea about pre-searing). So I'd try noob island in Factions or Nightfall for speedy killing. Steve1 (talk) 21:29, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
Vaettirs maybe, as with all other holiday drops? Jeree95 (talk) 13:50, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
