Me[edit]

I'm an aging gen x'er geek working for a big communications company in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. I spend most of my free time playing Guild Wars, you can decide for yourself whether or not that means I have no life. *grin*

Incarnations[edit]

Why Anadri?[edit]

Back in the mists of ancient times, when I was first creating characters to play Neverwinter Nights I was stuck for a name so I was letting it auto-generate names. After many, many tries, it popped up with "Celadrithien Anadrith" which I thought was just perfect for the elven cleric I was creating. Since that character became the main one that I played, and went on to finish the game and all expansions with, I grew kind of attached to it. When I got involved in the beta testing for Guild Wars, that pesky character limit wouldn't let me use the whole name, and rather than shorten "Celadrithien" I chopped the "th" off Anadrith to fit. I actually liked the look/sound of Anadri better, and used it as the last name for all of what I have come to refer to as the Incarnations of Anadri.

Since mesmer is my favorite profession, my mesmer incarnation is graced with my actual first name, Robin. Celadrithien, my original necromancer, and Xena, my original warrior (princess), were until very recently retired storage mules, as they were created on a separate account due to stupid four-character limit that reigned for so long. When character slot purchase was finally implemented, I created Morticia and Li Xiu on my main account. A friend pointed out to me that I could dodge favor restrictions by moving my other account to the European region, so Cela & Xena live again, happily plundering FOW & UW.

My Guild[edit]

I am guild leader of Girl Power [GP] (http://girlpowergw.wordpress.com).

Our guild is an old one, having originally formed during the very first World Preview Event at E3 in 2003. The original group was small, and comprised entirely of a group of my friends, all lesbians who played together in a few other games. The original concept was that [GP] would be an all-lesbian guild. However, eventually (and perhaps predictably) we had play experiences with good people who we wanted to have with us in the guild, despite their inconvenient Y chromosomes, or attraction to those with same. We decided to open up the membership to anyone that we got to know and liked, which would of necessity be persons mature and gay-friendly.

Our requirements solidified to be first and foremost: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and/or Transgender (LGBT) friendly (ie., you don't have to be LGBT, but we don't take bigots & homophobes.) Secondly, to preserve the freedom of members to talk freely on guild chat, and as a minimum guarantor of some level of maturity, members must be at least eighteen years of age. Now, of course, age is no true guarantee of maturity, and this rule has cost us the membership of people we would otherwise love to have in the guild, but we have made (and will make) no exceptions. Of course, the same goes for the first rule, but that is handled usually by our recruitment method: We play with and get to know people before they're invited to the guild. You won't ever find our officers spamming local chat with our guild stats.

We have grown slowly, usually by accepting a PUG in a mission, being impressed by their play style, intelligence, wit, and personality, and noticing they're not guilded, at which time we talk to them about [GP], add them to our flist, and proceed to play the game with for a while, provided they express an interest in the guild. If it seems mutually profitable, they're invited. The guild is a group of friends, and we maintain that by strict adherence to the Bill & Ted Principle, namely, "Be excellent to each other... and, party on, dudes!"

You may have gleaned from this that we're largely PvE, which is true. However, some are interested in various aspects of PvP as well. We have officers for PvP purposes, so they can start GvG from our hall, etc. Some of our members have made quite a splash across the HA/GvG scene, you may have seen Living Too Die or Nemesis Furiae in Observer mode, as their primaries are members of [LOV]. I'm pretty fond of AB, particularly with my paragon.

Our guild is Kurzick aligned and heads its own alliance, with a guild for people who are otherwise qualified for GP but don't meet our 18+ age requirement, Power Is Ageless [gp]. We're largely known for the weekly all girl gamer event we sponsor, Girl Power Hour.

If you are looking for a friendly, mature, LGBT-friendly guild and meet our requirements, get in touch with me in game (I have a lot of characters, but they all end in "Anadri" - just add Robin Anadri to your flist and send me a whisper) and we'll meet and chat, get to know each other. You may also contact our officers:
