Izzy's Page[edit]
Would you want a bunch of retards with no real knowledge of the game telling you how to do your job even though you're delicately trying to balance the game without completely throwing things out of swing all at once (which will probably cause some people to rage)? He has a private forum somewhere where he discusses skill balance with people who know a damn about theorycraft. — Skakid 19:27, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- I was going to say no, but I'd like it if he could at least let those who do know about balancing that he's listening, but then you mentioned said forums. If you see me on MSN, could you chuck me a link (if you have one)? -- Armond Warblade 19:42, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

PvE[edit]

About the breaking news...[edit]
Please note that people reading or not is irrelevant here. The user pages policy is pretty clear about the prohibition of posting such content on the wiki. The user in question received several warnings (even if not in the best way), and has been told already in the past that such content is not allowed by policy, and that trying to force it into the wiki will lead again to a ban, but he choose freely to ignore the warnings. And, since freedom comes with a price, we must understand that he freely choose to pay that price.--Fighterdoken 17:37, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- Uh, I'm pretty sure that it's not offensive content. Yeah, I know about his history; I generally don't go making an ass of myself without knowing what I'm doing, thanks. -- Armond Warblade 17:39, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- I am not sure about offensive content this time (too lazy to read it), but las few times (and bans) it was because of sexually explicit content, wich is not allowed by the Rules of Conduct from GW, and thus by the user pages policy which also enforces such RoC on userpages.--Fighterdoken 17:44, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- The only offense here is the violation of Guild Wars Wiki:User page#Ownership. This is a warning, Armond. Please do not break any other policies. — Gares 17:49, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

D&D 4.0[edit]
I was planning on waiting a little before getting them. Put on update on your first impressions when you get them :D I'm not sure how I much I wanna "invest" in 4.0 after how much I spent on 3.0 and 3.5... ugh. -- ab.er.rant 03:30, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- ...I so didn't pirate half my 3.5 books... >.>
- Ok, realistically, I bugged family into buying most of them for me. I'm still young enough (or was) to do that. I do know a few things from #gww, though; the alignment system's been reduced to LG, G, N, E, and CE, because the old alignment system was popular enough that they made it not-copyright. They also booted the Bard, Barbarian, Druid, Monk, and Sorcerer iirc, which seems like a good thing (at least on the last three).
- Other than that, I'll keep you informed. -- Armond Warblade 18:35, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- Even though they booted a lot of traditional "core" stuff, I think it's safe to bet WotC will come out with yet another PHB2 and DMG2 that provides these as "options"... :D From the previews I've been reading on the website, some of their rationalization does seem quite justifiable... which annoys me all the more because they really did seem to rectify some of the 3E problems. Getting rid of the gnome was a good move, since gnomes were never really distinct enough, but bringing in the tiefling as a standard race? A bit strange to me. -- ab.er.rant 01:21, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- I haven't heard much about race changes (I heard about the tiefling, but not the gnome), but I was under the impression that they kept LA adjustment races out of PHB because LA was supposedly too complex for newer players. If they brought in the tiefling, I hope they brought in the aasimar. -- Armond Warblade 18:30, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Survey question[edit]
Does it have to only be MMO's? Something I really like is the crafting system in Diablo 2: Median 2008, but it isn't an MMO so I can't add it. — Teh Uber Pwnzer 03:58, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Super Igor[edit]
Don't make that matter worse by with thinly veiled NPA offenses please. Also: Saying someone is from PvX is an NPA offense now? Not the last time I checked. --Xeeron 08:31, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- If that's your idea of thinly veiled, I'd love to see what you'd consider srs bsns NPA. And that removal wasn't really NPA, but it wasn't really anything else, and given how this wiki is known for its "QQ NPA" attitude, I figured it fit. Regardless, that doesn't belong at all, as he has absolutely no proof that it's Igor, nor does he have any proof that it is, indeed, someone from PvX. -- Armond Warblade 22:44, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- So you figured that you'd remove something from a userpage, and because it "wasn't really anything" you'd simply make up something about it? That is hardly going to help your cause. --Xeeron 23:25, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

- To expand on my brief comment; arenas are the only PvP that's in any way e-sport'ish. 2v2's are orders of magnitude more "builds wars" than GW ever has been; 3v3's aren't much better, and if you're not running a shammy in 5v5's you're doing it wrong. - That's what I get for not having a 70, I guess. But I was basing my judgment on the fact that of all the bloggers I know and read (which, I suppose, isn't as large as it could be), only one or two really do arenas; the rest stick to BGs, although I'll admit I hadn't thought of premades at the time (mostly because I don't run into them all that much). -- Armond Warblade 13:01, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't know how long you've been pvping but maybe u can help me out. What was the name of the 3-way altar map that used to be in halls before Sacred Temples replaced it? ~Shard (talk) 17:40, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

- I know about broken tower. The map I'm thinking of was high tier, right before halls, or maybe 2 maps before halls. It's not listed on wiki.
- It was similar to broken tower in that there was an altar in the middle and 3 bases in a circle around it, but it was not the same map. I wish I could go back in time and play beta GW. ~Shard (talk) 21:30, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- I also wish I had taken screenshots of it. It was a really fun map. I had a wierd dream last night involving that map (dont ask) and thought it would be awesome if they brought it back as a cap points map. ~Shard (talk) 00:46, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

- It was originally an altar map, but the layout would be perfect for cap points. I'm not a fan of cap points in HA right now because they designed the 3 worst possible map layout to put it on.

- I want the entire bloody game to be balanced. The thing is that most players either don't have a clue that the game is broken all to fuck (these are generally the PvErs), or do mostly PvP and want PvP to be fixed (and wonder why it's taking so long now that the PvE/PvP skill split's been installed). There's a relatively few number of people that actually want to see PvE balanced - the PvErs generally don't realize there's a problem because, even with perma SF and Incoming buffs, they fail at the game, and the PvPers are so used to "lolPvE" because PvE's been so easy for so long now. -- Armond Warblade 23:01, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

The sad thing is that the staff for gw is now so laughably small that they can't do anything. Almost everyone aims on gw2 now. And gw is abandoned, yay.Oni 13:10, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
See it this way in about a year that staff will be bigger then the amount of members owh wait nm that Lilondra 17:13, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- It's too bad they only did the split because of Whiney PvE softcore players who think the game should never be changed and their precious creative build (yea, PvE softcore people were bitching because Vampiric Spirit and Thunderclap and FUCK even incendiary arrows got changed last update. I lol'd)'s are god like. They split skills cause of PvE softcore players who cry about PvPers nerfing their shit 24/7. So now you have a split that basically every PvPer who has no faith in Anet called would just be giving buffs to PvE being right because Anet did it so that they could balance PvP without pissing off whiny PvE softcore players.
- Now, if the split was done to fix problems in PvE while not affecting PvP, we'd be getting somewhere. Too bad that isn't the case. :( DarkNecrid 20:36, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Kicking people from guild[edit]
is annoying. Second time now I've had to kick people for randomly shouting "NIGGAAAAAA GANGSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" in guild chat. The second guy tried to defend himself with the trio of "I'm black, so how is it racist", "have you seen what people say these days", and "it's a movie". He honestly doesn't understand that he was spamming /g with racism in all caps (even though he only said it once, it's still spam - and come on, we had a huge discussion about it the last time this happened, common sense please!), or that it's wrong.

Where do I sign? -- NUKLEAR IIV 13:58, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Am not yet. Have some ideas down (see my userpages here and at pvx, pvx has a neat discussion going on that I had to break into a whole separate section) and a bunch of stuff in my head, but I have concerns about releasing things under GFDL. I'd say get on MSN/Skype and bother me about it, but I kinda, uh, disconnected my registry from my computer and don't have the CD to repair it, so I'm working off of my dad's mac (again) until I can get one in the mail from my grandfather. Which, hopefully, will be tomorrow. (The awful part is that I'm supposed to be in charge of my guild in WoW, as our guild leader's currently off watching one of her sons get married until Tuesday.) -- Armond Warblade 17:33, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

- IT'D BE EASIER IF YOU HAD MSN. Or did they ban that too? (I do have a sort of story lined up, but I think trying to explain it verbally over Skype would be... problematic.) -- Armond Warblade 17:57, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- YOu don't have to verbaly explain it over skype. Text chat also works over skype. Besides, the comp I'm posting this from it.. not suitable for communications like that (don't ask..) -- NUKLEAR IIV 18:14, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Wow, Skype just got about fifty times more awesome in my book. I'll have to actually check it out now. What's wrong with your comp, did you spill orange juice over your speakers? :P (I did that to my GBA's speaker, it was never the same again...) -- Armond Warblade 18:24, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

- Is it possible to sign up for beta already ? I think we al learned from izzys mistakes ... ok we didnt but hey tell me if it gets past the lvl of just an idea :D Lilondra 17:35, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- This is the sort of idea I'll slowly form over the course of my master's degree and then bring to some company so I can get funds for a team. Dunno who, though - not NCSoft with their retarded dev policies (though I wouldn't mind snagging some of ANet's graphics designers), potentially not Blizzard because they'll probably want to fill out the team with a bunch of their own members "for quality", and beyond that I honestly don't have a clue.
- I do, however, have some plans for a closed beta if/when things get that far, including a few names to invite. Open beta is a sketchy thing, though - if I can get enough data off the closed beta, I'd rather skip that phase, but I certainly see the advantages to an open beta (and especially a stress test).
- Alpha testing will be closed and developer-only. I'm not fond of the idea of retards running around bragging about being in the alpha because it makes them sound cooler. (It'll happen with the beta, but that, unfortunately, is unavoidable.) -- Armond Warblade 17:43, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ok well I dont have any experience at dev a game (god i dont even have exp at playing a game) but If possible ill beg untill you let me into the beta Lilondra 17:47, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

- Also, fuck off. No one cares.

- Armond, time and time again you've been told that people do care, and time and time again, you've been told we don't create the wiki's copyright rules. "No one cares" isn't exactly the best argument you've made. -- Brains12 \ talk 21:10, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

The wiki summons you![edit]
...Ok, not really the wiki. Take a look here; if tl;dr, Isaiah has mentioned that while he does not have time to read all the skills suggestions, he could read and reply to a small amount of feedback to be periodically presented to him by the community. While discussing how to do that, it was suggested a small committee to look over skill suggestions and balance problems, and then present a few of the best ones to Isaiah. You have been suggested as being part of that committee; and while of course that has not been decided or agreed with yet, ir would be nice if you could take a look at the discussion. Erasculio 19:46, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- Your post here was tl;dr, tbfh. But that's mostly because I'm lazy and I only noticed right before I was about to go get a late lunch/early dinner thing, not to mention reboot my comp (windows is dumb and doesn't like it when I leave it on for 3+ days in a row). Will read when I get back. -- Armond Warblade 20:20, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- Orange box required. 75.182.89.73 20:21, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- The tl;dr summary: Isaiah didn't like the idea of a committee, he wants everyone to vote. People said voting would break the wiki and it sucks anyway. Other people said the committee idea is bad and basically complained a lot. Isaiah said he's busy and will reply later. Erasculio 04:03, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Rits'a -finally- have an answer to Hexes[edit]
Hello! I remember you Armond from your posts here (and other GW sites) and your personal crusade for buffing/altering hex-removal skills. I silently applauded your efforts but reluctantly had to aggree with much of Izzy's comments regarding realities of current meta. I recently partnered with Lancy's Active Rituals campagin and would like your opinion regarding this new Active version. I've already read Izzy's discussions explaining why Rits are 'Hex-Poor' and I aggree with him 100%... but there is nothing in current meta that rules against rits -punishing- foes for hexing allies.
- Soothing -
15 2 20 - (Communing) - Binding Ritual. "Create a level 1...5...6 Spirit. All foes within its range take twice as long to build Adrenaline and Hexes take an additional 5...9...10 seconds to recharge. Soothing dies after 6 seconds." For every 3 ranks in Spawning Power, Soothing lasts 1 second longer. --Falconeye 03:09, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Excessive energy cost for such a short recharge. Unless your campaign includes making the change "you can only have one binding ritual equipped at any point in time", that is... And if that's the case, the spirit might be a bit weak. I dunno; the effect as is is pretty nice, but one of the inherent problems with spirit spam is all you do is run around, drop spirits, and kite aoe. The main thing oldschool rit spirits had for them was that once you killed the spirit, it was gone for a while. This... I'm not sure.
- The other thing is a flat 5..10 second +recharge is gonna scale insanely differently on different hexes. Something like Ineptitude, an extra eight seconds or so of recharge isn't going to hurt too horribly (it'll hurt, but it's manageable); if you lose Parasitic Bond for even five extra seconds, though, you're kinda screwed. Go with a good old percentage; try 60...124...140% longer.
- The other thing is, if you think hexes are weak, you need to fight hexway more. Individual hexes are weak, yeah, but once you've got migraine + phantasm + spoil victor on your monks, not to mention spiteful, price, reckless, and pbond on your melee, you're pretty fucked. -- Armond Warblade 04:08, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
