Armor

If I want to contact you and have a chat about the armor section, how can I do that? There are a few concerns about the images that users have raised and I also have some ideas. - BeXoR 00:42, 24 February 2007 (EST)

If possible, I would actually rather keep things like this open discussion that any member of the wiki community can participate. Just like policy pages, people are free to talk about how they would like to see things. Feel free to post the questions or concerns here or on the armor discussion and we can figure something out. --Emily Diehl 01:33, 24 February 2007 (EST)
If you could take a look at Mesmer armor and check out the file names used there. If you could upload any further images using that naming convention that would be great. Are we going to get front, back and side pictures? And dyed/undyed, etc? The file names there are for if we only get the front view, but if the other sides and colours are coming too, then they'll need to be changed. As of yet, no one has objected to anything on my proposal so I've gone ahead and made some examples in the namespaces. I'll be continuing with all of the Mesmer bonus articles (like Virtuoso's armor) because we haven't figured out a format for the actual art pages (like Mesmer Ascalon armor) yet. - BeXoR 06:42, 24 February 2007 (EST)
Could you let us know if you'll be doing any more than a front dyed view. At the moment it's difficult to draft any ideas without knowing what kind of images we will be provided with. - BeXoR 10:54, 24 February 2007 (EST)
This is good discussion Bexor! I am going to move this comment train over the the Armor talk section so it's not stranded on my talk page, and I'll answer ya there :) --Emily Diehl 15:05, 24 February 2007 (EST)

Armor

Sorry to mention this now, but when you do the overview pictures for the gallery, can you make sure the dyed pictures have headgear on (if there is a headgear). It would help if the monks are bald. Also, for the component views, the headgear needs to just be a closeup of the head, and the chest + feet and arms + legs pictures shouldn't have headgear on. - BeXoR 01:02, 28 February 2007 (EST)

Can you expound on this? Are you talking about the images that I've already submitted, or the images for the individual armor detail pages?
As far as the monks go, I am unable to take accurate pictures of tattoos at this point, so this will make it an issue for bald head tattoos. I may need to wait for their headgear renders. I'd prefer to flesh out the main armor pages for now and focus on the more detailed pages at a later time, so I won't be working on the component views for a bit. --Emily Diehl 14:16, 28 February 2007 (EST)
For any of the main images (Profession type armor x.jpg) the armor should show the full art set, including headpiece. Same with the gallery overview images (the first four on the gallery page eg: Mesmer Shing Jea armor/Female). For the headgear and component images, the armor should be gray (though you mentioned you cant get other colors?). The component images (bottom four in a gallery) shouldn't have the headgear on. Would you like me to make an example? - BeXoR 14:50, 28 February 2007 (EST)
I follow the first section of the front, back, and sides. I'm not really sure why you guys would want a side shot of a mask, but if that's what's been decided I am fine with it. As I've mentioned, I an unable to capture gray or any other armor colors for the time being. I believe that the issue is being addressed, but I have no details on any timeframe. As far as the bottom views go, I believe I understand what you'd looking for. --Emily Diehl 15:03, 28 February 2007 (EST)
The mask sides were a question we asked too and the answer was kind of left open. Some masks have strange profiles - I seem to recall one of the later male ones in Factions has a gigantic nose? If you don't think they require a side shot, then feel free not to take them, but if the profile is something noteworthy, like that big nosed mask, then a side view would be nice. I just copied and pasted those galleries to have something there quickly.
So if it's not worth the bother, just upload a front shot. If it is worth the bother, take a side shot, and upload is as "profile" instead of "left" or "right" and I'll fix in the table. If it deserves both sides, then go ahead with that. - BeXoR 15:07, 28 February 2007 (EST)

Wow, very nice pictures

Thanks for the uploads! Jack 16:21, 2 March 2007 (EST)

I agree, very nice indeed.— BlackGeneral File:Blackgeneralstar.png (talk|contribs) 16:22, 2 March 2007 (EST)
You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoy them. --Emily Diehl 16:54, 2 March 2007 (EST)

Armor Pictures

Hi, im a member from the non-official german guildwiki [[1]].I have seen the perfect armor renders on this website and i thought thats so wonderful. The armor pictures on our website are not in such good quality as here. Now, here is my question^^. Can we copy these render pictures to our website, because also the german and non-english speaking players (like me xD) want to see the perfect armor images. I hope that was understandable and sorry for my bad english :). Best wishes from Germany xD. --Nancy 11:38, 7 March 2007 (EST)

You will probably bump into license issues, but I'll let someone else confirm. -- Gem (gem / talk) 14:22, 7 March 2007 (EST)
While I'm really glad that you guys really like our renders, copying them to your site would unfortunately cause an issue with our current licensing. Our license protects any content posted by ArenaNet (so the images would be protected under that license since I post them as an employee of ArenaNet). If these images are posted on another wiki that does not have the same license, we face running into content protection issues. Don't worry, though. In the future we do have plans to expand and host other language wikis :) --Emily Diehl 16:16, 7 March 2007 (EST)
I noticed there doesn't seem to be a way of distinguishing GFDL licensed images from Anet copyright images. Should we have some sort of indicator...perhaps on the Anet copyright images talk page to indicate the difference? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vlad 21:43, 7 March 2007 (EST)
See Guild Wars Wiki:Copyrights. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:38, 7 March 2007 (EST)
I think he means some sort of tag to be placed on content that's not available under GFDL since the average user does not know that Emily is an employee of ANet when they look at the article/image they like. --Karlos 20:15, 7 March 2007 (EST)
Yes. sorry, what I meant was that we have content that can be either under GFDL or copyright by Anet. We have no way of distinguishing the two. I guess most images as they are from in-game images will be copyrighted by Arenanet, but I think there should be more something more obvious. Vlad 21:43, 7 March 2007 (EST)

Monk Tattoos

With the Prophecies Ascetic's sets, are there official names for the art? Anja and I only just discovered that the Dragon and Star names may have been a gwiki invention, seeing as there is no actual mention of it in the game. So we were wondering what the official names are for those, if there are official names, otherwise we will just have to stick to what they are called now. - BeXoR 10:56, 9 March 2007 (EST)

Hm, you know I've never really thought about that. I'll track down the answer and get back to you guys on that. Until then, I think that using the current names will be fine. I'm still having issues getting tattoo armor for the time being anyways. --Emily Diehl 21:46, 12 March 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, I figured that seeing as we dont have pictures up yet it would be a good time to ask. :) - BeXoR 01:25, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
Is that really a GuildWiki invention of the names? :o I thought that it was in the game at one point, long, long ago! Perhaps my memory is failing ;) LordBiro 05:16, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
I was looking on one of the gwiki talk pages and there was a discussion about calling the armor tattoo1, tattoo2, and tattoo3, or dragon, star and water and that they'd have to pick one. And then there was a comment from Skuld saying there wasn't anything in the game about "water" and that it doesn't even resemble water. - BeXoR 06:16, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

Armor images

Because nothing was there, I uploaded my two Elementalists' armor sets as examples to this page. Should I take them down or are you okay with that? --Chiaro 22:00, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

I think all the armour should be uniform, so I wouldn't upload anymore. -- Scourge File:Scourge.gif 22:04, 12 March 2007 (EDT)
It's completely up to you guys to decide. I will try to get the remaining armor shots up as soon as possible, but there is a chance that they will be a bit delayed. If the consensus is that some images are better than none for the time being, I'd say go ahead. But if you guys would rather wait that's completely fine too. --Emily Diehl 22:09, 12 March 2007 (EDT)
I would keep from uploading anything else then the ones we end up using permanently. If people are in a hurry, they can use GuildWiki for the time being. This wiki is still being made and isn't used for information searching by many yet as so much is missing anyway. -- Gem (gem / talk) 06:33, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
Chiaro, yes, please upload anything you think would be useful. As Emily says it may take some time before she can get her images done, and there's no point in us just sitting here twiddling our thumbs until then.
I really disagree with your approach, Gem. Please, if people want to contribute, encourage them. If people want to upload armor images, even if those images are likely going to be replaced, please don't persuade them not to. It's counter productive.
Every contribution made is under the provision that it may be altered or removed later, and having something useful now is better than having something useful later. LordBiro 07:00, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
You might have noticed that my view on this is a bit different than yours, but I appreciate your view and I'll keep from executing my view if people really think it isn't good. Though I still don't see what good these 3 armor images would do anyone as we are getting the final ones soon and GuildWiki allready has a complete gallery. I wasn't 'discouraging contributing' imo. -- Gem (gem / talk) 07:10, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
I realise our opinions differ. But isn't it better to have something useful now, even if it is going to be replaced, than having nothing at all? You keep acting as though this wiki is not yet ready. While it might not be, if you think of it as incomplete and refer people to GuildWiki in the meantime then we are missing out on readers and therefore contributors. LordBiro 07:35, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
I wouldn't go deleting anything significant even if I knew it will be replaced soon. However, I didn't see the 3 overiew images significant by any means. -- Gem (gem / talk) 07:47, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, I understand that Gem, but it's not about those particular images, or any images. It's about the wiki as a whole, and encouraging people to get involved vs. asking them not to. LordBiro 07:57, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
I tend to agree with LordBiro and would prefer that images (significant or not) aren't deleted on this basis alone, before the replacement is available. However, I'm then concerned that people may put effort into filling in those images without being aware of the expected renders from Emily. I think there should be a message informing people of this on the appropriate profession armor pages. --Rezyk 13:42, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
I agree with Lord Biro, but the main reason for that are the new armors we'll likely see in future chapter previews (like when we saw the Dervish armor in the NF PvP Beta event). I don't expect Emmily to give those images to us (especially since they aren't even completely finished when those events happen), but I think it would be good to have them as earlier as possible here, if only because they're something new that people would like to see. So provisory, even if imperfect, content is ok by me. Erasculio 07:34, 16 March 2007 (EDT)

Related to this but not a response to the comments above: with the armor renders a template is probably going to be placed on the image with some copyright information. Can we make sure that previous images get deleted before the final ones are uploaded in their place? Would save having to designate each revision of the image that the template applies to, and also would stop people from reverting. - BeXoR 07:42, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

I don't think this is a big deal, really. Since all of the images are going to either be taken from in-game or uploaded by ArenaNet wouldn't they all need the {{arenanet-image}} template? LordBiro 07:57, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
Yes. -- Gem (gem / talk) 08:01, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
True. - BeXoR 08:01, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
Is this template something I should add to the image pages of the items I upload? --Emily Diehl 13:28, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
I think so. Use "{{arenanet image}}" (no hyphen). --Rezyk 16:24, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, exactly what Rezyk said! :) This template will allow us to keep track of images that belong to ArenaNet and it will also allow us to inform readers of the license implications. LordBiro 16:26, 13 March 2007 (EDT)
Good deal! I'll add that onto any images I upload from here on out, and I will advise any other ArenaNet staff that posts images to do the same. --Emily Diehl 16:32, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

Paragon Armor

I know you still are working through the armor but I noticed one armor set that did not look right. It's this set here (Paragon Vabbian armor):

Paragon Vabbian armor f.jpg

It's supposed to have stockings that go to from the foot to the knee and from the hand to the elbow but your model shows no such thing. Here and here are examples of what I am talking about. I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if I am going crazy or if this is just a change to come to the armor page image in the future. Thank you.--File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 16:09, 15 March 2007 (EDT)

No, it's not your imagination. As I've mentioned, I am having technical difficulties with the proper capture of tattoos. This particular issue is mentioned on the talk page, but it looks like I missed the disclaimer on the image. I will add that on to alleviate confusion. Now that I look back on it, I probably shouldn't have uploaded these images at all. I figured that it would be better to have something than incomplete sets, but I'm not sure if that was the best way to go. Sorry for the confusion. --Emily Diehl 16:13, 15 March 2007 (EDT)
No problem. I like having placeholders at the least. These still look amazing. Thanks for clearing it up for me. --File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 16:34, 15 March 2007 (EDT)
The sad thing is, it actually looks better like that. :( - BeXoR 02:35, 16 March 2007 (EDT)
Me too. If it looked like that, I would (try to) buy it. Erasculio 07:34, 16 March 2007 (EDT)

Male Mesmer Noble Armor Picture

Hi there, I'm a user transferring from the GuildWiki over to here. Umm, I noticed that the Male Mesmer Noble Armor picture is actually using the Courtly Armor right now. Is this intended or was it an uploading mixup?

From what I can see from the GuildWiki pictures, the picture here is correct. Both Noble here and at GuildWiki have that small golden stripe around the wrist, which Courtly has not. The picture of Courtly and Noble here are not exactly the same, did you mean they are mixed up? — Anja 11:33, 22 March 2007 (EDT)
Hi guys. I will check on these armor shots and make sure they are correct. I have been sick with the flu that's been sweeping around the office, so I've been out for the past few days. I feel well enough to work from home a bit today, so I'll try to get back to you guys on this question and some other pending stuff today. --Emily Diehl 13:28, 22 March 2007 (EDT)
For the males I'm fairly sure the armor is essentially the same apart from the boots. - BeXoR 14:12, 22 March 2007 (EDT)
Don't try too much. Rest and I hope you feel better soon. — Gares

Oh no! It appears I mistook it for the same thing... Ack! The color depth on my moniter made it easy for me to miss the boots pattern. My apologies, ma'am. Was only trying to help >.< 14:32, 22 March 2007 (EDT)

No worries :) --Emily Diehl 23:56, 22 March 2007 (EDT)

Armor renders

Are you able to upload all of the missing sets (not including the problematic ones liek the monk tattoos) before the official release of the wiki next week? -- Gem (gem / talk) 23:03, 22 March 2007 (EDT)

All of the professions left over pose problems for me at this point. If you guys have screens you'd like to put as placeholders for the time being, definitely feel free to. When I get back to the office I will look again and see if there are certain sets that I can get before the wiki is announced. --Emily Diehl 23:55, 22 March 2007 (EDT)
If you don't mind my asking, how are they posing problems for you? Is it something technical, or just the lack of available time to get them uploaded? I ask only to find out if [it's technical] they will be uploaded in the future. --Counciler
It's a technical problem with tattoos and stockings, etc. - BeXoR 03:36, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
Yes, as Bexor mentioned it is a technical issue with capturing renders with tattoos. I'm hoping the issue will be resolved in the near future, but as of this time I don't have an ETA. As soon as the issue is resolved, I will contribute the remaining images. --Emily Diehl 14:09, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
marvelous job with the armor renderings, so easy to see now in detail what they look like! My question to you is, will there be dyed pictures in the future? and pictures showing the armor from the side and the back? As you probably already know on the old wiki such pictures already existed, however not nearly as good quality as your fantastic armor renders! ArcticWind 08:48, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
The idea of having many different poses for the armors has been discussed and approved on the Armor Talk page. The result is things such as this - eventually all armors will have not only the current renders, but also the "doll" on the /attention pose showing all sides of the armor. Keep in mind that Emily has many things to do, though, so we cannot expect her to do everything at once : D But those images are coming. Erasculio 09:18, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

PNG Logos?

Do you happen to have any transparent PNG versions of the logos for the 3 campaigns? Apparently it's hard to get them transparent from the PSD files so I was wondering if you had any lying around. Thanks! --Santax 14:56, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

I can go check on this for you guys. How do you guys use these custom skins anyways? I'd like to see them, but I'm not sure how to do it :) --Emily Diehl 15:06, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
The default MediaWiki skin is monobook, but that particular skin can be tweaked here. Only you can edit your own skin, but you can also simply copy and paste this into the article space there. See also here and here. --Santax 15:24, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
Don't worry about the logos, I just uploaded the transparent versions. And about the customs skins, just copy everything from User:Smurf/monobook.css into User:Emily Diehl/monobook.css. --Dirigible 15:20, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
I wouldn't try it unless you use firefox, i haven't tested any other browsers and i know the round borders won't work outside of firefox -Smurf User Smurf.png 15:26, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
Is there a way to revert back to your normal style? - BeXoR 15:27, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
You can just empty the page again. It'd be great if we could set this up as a skin site-wide, though, so everyone can just change it through their Preferences page. --Dirigible 15:28, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
Well, let me take a look at these skins :) As far as adding them to the site goes, we'd have to discuss it here, but I'll definitely push it through the proper channels for evaluation. --Emily Diehl 15:38, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
I use Opera, and other than the borders and some issues with the bullet points, the skin works perfectly. --Santax 15:31, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

These requested .pngs can be found here: Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall. Keep in mind they are really big, so you'll want to resize them. --Emily Diehl 15:37, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

could we also get some transparent GW2 and EotN logos? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:72.29.74.123 .
There's one here, but unfortunately it's in SWF format. --Santax 06:27, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Render Images in other colors for GW-Outfitbuilder?

Hi there, i'm desperatly looking for images for my GW Outfitbuilder - Project. Using this very simple program you can combine every armorpart with any others in all colors. But people just don't get enough pictures rdy, especially i can't find anyone being able to edit some pictures into needed format. I accidently saw your work here and thought: that's EXCACTLY what i'm looking for! :) Really awesome looking pictures of all armortypes in (most importantly!) the same stance, what's essentiell part of the program. Is it possible to create more of them in all normal colors from blue to yellow? Especially non-prestige armortypes in expensive colors (black, white) are hard to get. Could you probably help me out there with some picture? I and much more importantly the community would feel very grateful to have more useable pictures to finish this project. P.S: Sry for my bad english! ^_^ --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Fasut .

I think Gaile hinted once that that sort of feature would be included on the website sometime in the future. - BeXoR 10:20, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
I can't speak for Emily but she has been trying to get more armor renders in there as time and resources allow. Currently there are some errors with tattoos and any stockings on armor sets so she is looking into that as well. I believe you will need to be patient but as for what BeXoR said above, that sounds even better. --File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 11:36, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
Hi Fasut! I just wanted to let you know that I am looking into your request, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I just wanted to let you know that I'm not ignoring you. --Emily Diehl 16:29, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

Bestial Mauling

So I've often wondered about this icon. Many other rangers have speculated with me. We keep coming up with different ideas as to what the hec is going on in this picture. Is it a tiger attacking a man? Is it a large hand/paw pushing/swiping at something? Is it something else? It's not exactly clear and no icon images can get big enough to see the true icon's detail. As you have been at the forefront of renders and images so far I thought I might ask you. Also, if you have a bigger, more detailed version, could I/we see that? Thanks for any info you offer on this. --File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 10:14, 3 April 2007 (EDT)

I'm not Emily, but would you mind if I tried to answer it? Look here. It's a tiger jumping over a guy, who's using both arms to try (and fail, it seems) to defend himself (notice how his right hand in trying to hold the tiger's mouth). The Skill Cards images have all Core, Prophecies and Factions skill icons in high resolution, I keep them around just to look at those. Erasculio 10:23, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
That's awesome! High res skill icons! :o LordBiro 10:30, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
(edit conflict) I'm not Emily either, but it looks like they're dancing.... ;) -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 10:32, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
Rotated 90 degrees anticlockwise, it would make sense :P User Fox.jpg Fox (talk|contribs) 10:49, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
Hi guys. Erasculio seems to have answered the question! If you'd like to me to try to track down higher res versions of the icons, I might be able to. I'm not exactly positive if it's feasible to try to grab ALL of the icons, since that will be a very large amount of work and I have a lot of other renders to provide and not enough time in my day to do it :) I'll add it to my list of things to look at. --Emily Diehl 13:31, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
Who would have guessed Biro would have commented on that? The Icon King of Scotland. :p
But man, that looks great in high res! :D — Gares 14:26, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
That's great Erasculio! That makes so much more sense. I still see the tigers face looking more monster like though but perhaps I'm still not seeing it right. Anyway, I wouldn't trouble yourself over those high res images too much Emily. There are higher priority things IMO though I'm glad you and others took the time to answer my question. --File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 14:48, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
Guys, you can find the Skill Cards with the high res skill icons (sans the NF ones)here (I don't know about you, but I never understood at least half of them before seeing the detailed version : D). Vallen is right, the "tiger" in Bestial Mauling is more like a monster on its "face" and on the "arms", but I was lazy to write "thing that looks a bit like a tiger but maybe isn't exactly that" : ) Erasculio 19:19, 3 April 2007 (EDT)

(RI)Using IrfanView, I've been able to 'rip' all of the images from the skillcards without too much trouble. (The biggest task is now to rename every image to its appropriate name.) They look really really good with a res of 225x225:

Assassin's Promise 225x225.jpgVapor Blade 225x225.jpgBackfire 225x225.jpgShield of Regeneration 225x225.jpgOrder of Apostasy 225x225.jpgPredatory Bond 225x225.jpgChanneled Strike 225x225.jpgSkull Crack 225x225.jpg

Unfortunately, there are no icons for the Dervish and Paragon. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 07:44, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Are you able to put a zip file for download somewhere? I would like to get the icons. -- Gem (gem / talk) 08:52, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
Yes, I'm currently renaming all skills. When I'm done with it, I'll put it up for download. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 08:57, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Hey there Corran! I've checked about the cards, but the primary person I need to speak with is out on business. From what I hear, I believe that there are plans to do a Nightfall set, but I have no idea about time frame for those. When Mike gets back I'll be sure to ask him. --Emily Diehl 13:49, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

High Resolution Images

Hello, I am wondering where one can find the rest of the "High-Polygon Profession Renders". I have seen multiple poses fro each of the 10 professions, as well as others such as Varesh, Devona, and the strange swordsman who poses up in the corner of the Xunlai Tournament House pages (US Site). ANyways, where can the rest of these be found? Do they come on Collectors Edition discs? A website? Or are they as yet unreleased and still copyrighted to ArenaNet? Many of these images could be put to good use in fan-made wallpapers and fan-sites. --Counciler

Indeed, they could also be put to use on this wiki - Devona's page already uses one. --Santax 08:11, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
So does anyone know where I can get the rest or what? --Counciler
You can't find the rest of the pictures anywhere, because they don't exist yet. Emily's making the renders for the wiki, what you see here is what there is, the rest will hopefully come in time. And I think these pictures are still all copyrighted to ANet and not GFDL, so to the best of my knowledge they can't be used on other websites. --Dirigible 16:58, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
She makes the high-poly renders? WOW. And thats what I was asking, is if they had been released to the general populace and fanbase. Since that is a resounding 'no', I suppose my question is answered. :) Thank you. --Counciler
Just making sure that I'm not answering the wrong question here, you do mean this, right? Or are you talking about this kind of picture? If it's the latter, I don't think that's a render at all, that's just concept art that the ANet artists have made while making the campaigns. Same with this. These should all still copyrighted to ANet as well, and again not GFDL.
There's a lot of images of this kind out there, see Factions concept art and Nightfall concept art. --Dirigible 17:23, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
Thats what I was talking about. The concept art. :) Thats why I said high poly, because of the very high polygon count of the 3d models used to take those poses. I didnt want them under GDFL, or whatnot. I was just wondering if there was an off wiki source where I could get them that is legal. --Counciler

Pet Pages

Thank you for the pet pages, they look very good! The pet renders are very nice - I really liked the Phoenix pictures, the one with the bird flying is very cool : ) Erasculio 20:43, 13 April 2007 (EDT)

Anytime! I have to admit that I'm partial to the birds myself, so I just had to put these extra action shots in. --Emily Diehl 20:46, 13 April 2007 (EDT)

Hi-res icons Nightfall

Emily, as you can see here, I've extracted all the skill icons for core+factions characters from the Sealed Play images to be found on the official website here. However, all Nightfall skills are missing (as well as some other Core+Prophecies+Faction skills). Any idea when A.Net will supply those? -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 10:24, 16 April 2007 (EDT)

Overwriting Emily's Renders?

I've noticed people have been overwriting the armor renders that Emily has so kindly provided us with lesser quality images. I wonder, is this allowed? Does Emily's status as an ArenaNet employee grant her the right to keep her renders up there? I have been reverting back to Emily's renders simply for the fact that they are much better than the replacements. Should I stop? --Counciler

It depends on the situation, really. Could you provide some examples? LordBiro 16:50, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
I should have checked recent change first :) Yes, all of those seem to be reasonable reverts, but if I were you I would explain to the user who uploaded those images why you reverted them. I think that most people would agree that Emily's renders are of higher quality (at least in the instances I've seen). Does anyone have a different opinion on the subject? LordBiro 16:54, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
Well I wanted to tell him, but I wasn't sure if he would even notice, since he hasn't set up his own user page yet, let alone his talk page. I'm not sure what to do about it. I don't want to make waves here, but I think that unless somebody can come up with animated armor renders, there isn't any beating Emily's.... --Counciler
To answer the original question: No, if someone comes up with better images, of course we use them. But as you said, the possibility of that is slim ;-) --Xeeron 17:02, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
As soon as you edit his talk page, he will notice, as he'll get the "you have new messages" info box. It doesn't matter if he doesn't have a talk page yet, you can just create it. --84-175 (talk) 17:07, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
Well then, I shall continue to revert back to Emily's renders as I see it needed, and inform the user.

15k Knight's Armor

Are you planning on replacing those pictures? I ask because they are similar to your other ones, except for the inability to zoom. --Counciler

Yes, I've already replaced all of the close-ups of the armor. I don't know why the main image is a smaller resolution, as it is a render that was not uploaded by me. When I get a chance today, I'll replace it with one of my renders. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 13:17, 30 April 2007 (EDT)
Alrighty, that should be up now. Thanks for pointing the issue out! --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 13:58, 30 April 2007 (EDT)
I just checked it and for the Female 15k Knights, I see three uploads by a "Morgol", and for the male armor, I see an upload supposedly by you, but it has numerous errors not present in your other uploads. Notably: Remnants of a partially cropped cape can be seen on the left side of the Warrior, You cannot zoom in, and there appears to be image compression errors in the image. Furthermore, none of the poses match the other Warrior poses. --Counciler
The female armor was an oversight, as I saw the render on the main page and didn't realize that this wasn't one of my captures. I will upload my ascended 15k female Knight's render shortly. As for the issues you are seeing with the male 15k Knight's, I do not see them on my end. Are you sure your browser isn't caching an old version of the page? If you could link the page in question, I'd appreciate it. If you see some kind of a cape in the image, the image you are seeing was not uploaded by me, as I do not use capes in my screencaps. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 17:08, 30 April 2007 (EDT)
Yup, thats what it was. Caching issue. --Counciler

Female Knights Armor still missing

I tried clearing my cache and internet history, but as yet the female 15k knights is still non updated. Were you planning on leaving it like it is, or have you just been busy with the tattoo updates?

I must have missed that image in my pass. I will add it to the page as soon as time permits (hopefully this will be today). Thanks for pointing out the oversight. Since someone had posted what looked like a render for the suit, I missed it when I glanced over the page. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 16:11, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

Armor looks different in game

Thanks Bex! I'll file a bug report for this. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 18:14, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
I didn't know where to mention this, but since BeXor began this section...The image for the Ritualist Elite Canthan armor, female version, has a small flaw - the face is completely hidden by the armor (just as in the male one), while the current render shows the lower face. I would guess that was a problem with rendering the tatoo on the face, maybe? Erasculio 22:21, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Item icons

Inventory icons

Will you be able to provide inventory icons for materials, quest items, trophies, etc.? -Smurf 10:14, 28 February 2007 (EST)

I can if they are needed, yes. --Emily Diehl 14:17, 28 February 2007 (EST)
Could you possibly distribute a package of them? For members of the community to place as needed, so you don't have so much work. - Shield-Logo-Mini.gif Drago 16:22, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

Weapon renders

Skins

My apologies for being bold. Would it be possible to get a list of what "common" skins, if any, were used for unique items? I've taken point on maintaining the entire unique item list. I'm concerned that some of the articles may have inaccurate information regarding skins. If there would be an easy way for Anet to provide this information, I would be thrilled to update each individual item accordingly. --Rohar (talk|contribs) 19:22, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

Hi there Rohar! From reading your question, I'm assuming that you mean a list of the skins that are commonly found and a list of the skins that not many skins that are exclusive to the unique items.
As for generating this data for use on the wiki, this would be a considerable amount of work since we'd have to pull data from a wide variety of sources and then convert it both to a format and a naming convention that could be distributed externally. At this point in the development cycle, I don't believe I'd be able to get the manpower to help me do this. I'm more than happy to help out on the item pages as I add renders to them, and I'll be happy to track down questions you guys may have about individual items, but unfortunately I won't be able to get this data in the format of a big spreadsheet.
If I misunderstood your question, or if you have anything you'd like me to clarify or double check on, please let me know :) --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 19:44, 1 May 2007 (EDT)
Thanks for the prompt response! If you wouldn't mind double checking my work as you add renders to the unique items, that would be fine. I have several "No skin knowns" posted, and I worry that they may be commons skins. I'm perhaps too type A about these things. I certainly did not expect a lot of work to be added, just hoped that the data might be readily available somewhere in the Anet production notes. *sighs*. --Rohar (talk|contribs) 19:49, 1 May 2007 (EDT)
Sure! I'd be more than willing to check the pages behind you, and any of us on staff would fix information that we see is incomplete (as would other wiki folk). As for the data, it is available to us, but it's in a format that we would have to do a lot of work to in order to release it to the public wiki. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 20:22, 1 May 2007 (EDT)
Thanks Emily. I've got about 75 more articles to "complete" the unique items, then I need to run through the hundred or so posted in old formats. If your render posts get ahead of this clean-up, just please add skin information per Guild Wars Wiki:Formatting/Unique items when you see errors. I'll try to clean up everything else. It's sure great to have you as a resource!! --Rohar (talk|contribs) 20:28, 1 May 2007 (EDT)
Oh, I don't think there is ANY worry about me beating you to the renders. I have enough needed images to keep me busy for the next few years :) If I do see anything that's off, though, I'll either flag it for you or just go in and correct the data myself so you don't have to do it later (ah, the joy of the wiki). --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 20:33, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

The murals of the Gods

Hi Emily, I would like to ask for one thing...There is a very beautiful artwork in the game that is only available during a short cutscene, in which we cannot take decent screenshots... The murals of the gods in Gandara, the Moon Fortress, have images that are different from the murals we find anywhere else in the game, but they break a few seconds after they appear (in rather bad angles) in a short cinematic. I would like to ask if you could get renders of those images for us, one day? I know you are already busy with a lot of things here, but these artworks are really pretty, and I think it would be amazing if we could let more people see them. Erasculio 08:47, 7 May 2007 (EDT)

Are they different from the ones you can find in (for example) Dragon's Gullet? Because AFAIR(Remember), those murals were pretty nice too. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 09:06, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
Very. I uploaded them on the gwiki god pages. Unfortunately the Lyssa one is never completely visible in the cinematic so it's a very bad composite. - BeX 09:16, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
I like the Lyssa-mural that FireFox (same on GWiki as GWWiki?) uploaded and also the Dwayna mural in the Moonfortress-one. It would be pretty nice to have those murals as rendered pictures. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 09:33, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
The Dwayna page has both murals for comparison (thanks to BeXor : ), the old and the new ones. Unfortunately the new ones are only seen in the cinematic at the end of Consulate Docks, so we cannot take proper screenshots (unlike the one for Abbadon, for example, that doesn't break). Here's one more screenshot showing when the murals of Dwayna and Grenth appear, and here's the ones of Balthazar and Lyssa breaking. I haven't found those murals anywhere else in the game...Erasculio 09:53, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
Sure, I can go in and grab shots of those for you guys. When I get a chance to today, I'll do that and put them on the respective god's page. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 14:12, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
OK, I got those up on the pages. Melandru's had to be shot from the ground up, since the shrine was directly in front of it, but it turned out nonetheless. Enjoy! --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 16:27, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
Wohooo! That was unbelievably fast! Many thanks, Emily. The murals are very beautiful, and the high resolution renders you made for them are amazing : ) Erasculio 18:51, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
