This could get confusing :S -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 07:09, 5 March 2007 (EST)

I see your drift :D - but, as Charles Caleb Colton pointed out "Confusion creates great minds. The purest ore is produced from the hottest furnace, and the brightest thunderbolt is elicited from the darkest storms." Perhaps I should change my signature. Fox 07:16, 5 March 2007 (EST)

Copyvio articles[edit]

Please in the future follow the directions given in the copyvio tag when you are fixing those articles. We have to actually delete the copyright infraction from the site altogether. --Rainith 17:05, 7 March 2007 (EST)

Oops[edit]

Sorry about that - brain fart. :P - BeXoR 07:42, 9 March 2007 (EST)

LoL -- happens to us all, and in these early stages of the wiki I foresee much more neuro-flatulence yet to come :D Fox 07:46, 9 March 2007 (EST)

House zu Heltzer[edit]

It makes far more sense that the location gets the name and the house itself be listed as something to the affect of House zu Heltzer (Great House) or House zu Heltzer (Family). -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 20:25, 10 March 2007 (EST)

LoL - I don't mind how its named, but they needed to be differentiated in order for the articles to be created; I just chose the convention that GWiki had decided upon. I'll go with your suggestion if you think that's more suitable Fox 20:19, 10 March 2007 (EST)

Outpost Infobox[edit]

Hello. I have noticed you sometimes used a location infobox that does not work with the current Wiki configuration - for example, the Bloodstone Fen one shows:

Bloodstone Fen
No image available
Campaign Prophecies
Region
Type
Party size 8
Exit(s) Silverwood

While some of the other infobox locations show as the one in the Ice Caves of Sorrow (outpost), for example. I changed a few of the infobox from the former to the later, but then it ocurred to me that you may have been working on a new infobox syntax (and I would have been then ruining your work >.>). I would like to ask if you would rather keep the old style (then I would change them back and apologize for messing them) or if you would rather have the second one. Thanks! Erasculio 09:31, 25 March 2007 (EDT)

Hi, see my reply on your talk page - its's where the template changed after I had entered the data :) Fox 07:29, 27 March 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for the welcome[edit]

I'll try to be helpful around here!  :] The Ice Master 19:51, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

Good to have you aboard - the more the merrier :) Fox

Thanks for the welcome (2)[edit]

Thanks for the welcome fox! Hoax 20:01, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

NP, it's great to see new users arriving here at last :) Fox

That welcome thing you're pasting around[edit]

Keeps scaring the heck out of me, not used to seeing huge blocks of coloured text like that around here. :P Looks very helpful tho, good idea. :) --Dirigible 20:19, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

Yeah, I really must get my thumb out my ear and turn it into a user template at some point Fox
Although it might be best to not post it on anonymous IP user pages, since IPs can be dynamic. --User:AlbinobirdAlbinobird 20:23, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
This is true - but at least shows the people who are allocated that IP address at any given time that they may not be the only one who is using it and encourages them to register as a user -- the link is included in the message :) Fox
I would like that to be an official template as well. Something like Template:NewUser or something. — Rapta (talk|contribs) 20:32, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

Please choose a different shade of green or a different color for the template! My eyes are melting! :P --User:AlbinobirdAlbinobird 20:45, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

How about self:Template:Welcome? Colors... well, they can be played with I guess :) Fox 21:01, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
Liked the old one better, but this one's fine too. :) — Rapta (talk|contribs) 21:05, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
I didn't care for the old one, the green color seemed sickly to me for some reason. --User:AlbinobirdAlbinobird 01:00, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
Hello Fox, and welcome to the Guild Wars Official Wiki! Here are a few links to help you get involved. Please feel free to contact me if you need help with anything on my talk page.

Don't be afraid to edit - anyone can edit almost any page and we encourage you to be bold! Find something that can be improved, whether content, grammar or formatting, and make it better.

  • We try to follow a common style and format across articles for consistency. When editing, you can generally look at a similar article for an example or consult the formatting guidelines.
  • Other wikis for Guild Wars generally use licenses that are incompatible with ours, and most of their content cannot be used here.
Articles should NOT be copied directly from GuildWiki - see Guild Wars Wiki:Copyrighted content for details.
  • This wiki has its own policies which you might like to check out.
  • For details and guidelines for personalized pages see Guild Wars Wiki:User page.
  • See the FAQ for more information on the history and vision of Guild Wars Wiki.
Best of luck and happy editing! Dirigible 04:17, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
Hooray! At last, welcomed! I finally feel valued - but why did it take so long?? :P Fox 04:19, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
He didn´t skill his Fasctcast ;) xDD btw thx for welcoming :)--Krushak 04:45, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

Its monstrous. Burn it with fire. If I was a first time user recieving one of those, i'd think twice about returning. How impersonal can it get? — Skuld 05:56, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

I've gotten welcome messages like that from forums and other community websites and I didn't think it was a problem at all. In fact those messages tend to be very helpful. Plus there's nothing stopping you from actually saying hello and welcome personally below it. - BeXoR 06:43, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
I agree, and as for "impersonal"... well, it's probably more likely to encourage people to look at the policies/guidelines, register, not vandalize and contribute in a constructive fashion than just being cleverly impolite :P Fox 06:53, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
I think that for a contributor who has never worked on a Wiki before, the welcome message is quiet helpfully to start off :) --Krushak 06:57, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

Equipped Screenies[edit]

Any suggestions on how to include the equipped item screenshots into the weapon description page? Do you intend to create a ==Equipped Images== heading with Male/Female subheadings? Rohar 15:24, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
Thanks for the feedback on the correct template to use. Any format suggestions for the screen shot image itself? (i.e. No armor, no weapon in the other hand, front & side views, etc.). Rohar 15:24, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
Emily will be providing those images, so I'd say it's best to leave them to her. - BeXoR 02:24, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Thx for the welcome[edit]

Aloha and thx for the offer to ask you. I'm pretty new to wiki so i guess i'll bug you once in a while with some questions :)

here my first. It is possible to get all armor types as rendered images, like they are allready hosted in some proffessions ? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Myxim .

The armor images are being provided by User:Emily Diehl, an arenanet dev. There are some technical difficulties, so the images aren't all uploaded yet, but they will be in the future. - BeXoR 03:24, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Unique weapons[edit]

Fox, what are the requirements for listing unique items? Should they have '(unique)' after the name, e.g. Exalted Aegis (unique). At the moment we have some with (unique) added and some not. Cheers,, Ibiris 08:35, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Good point Ibiris -- they should be named without the "unique" suffix unless a version of them is also available that is not unique. Exalted Aegis is one of those few that has both a unique and non-unique version. Hope this clarifies :) Fox 08:42, 30 March 2007 (EDT)
Okay, thats cleared things up now. Thanks,, Ibiris 08:51, 30 March 2007 (EDT)
There's a few other editors working on unique item articles as well. You can find them at this project Guild Wars Wiki:Projects/Unique Items, and the talk page of that project. --Dirigible 09:39, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Article[edit]

I'm off to bed, I'll leave you to deal with all the {{weapon-stub}} tags and this article: Black Bear. lol Good Night -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 08:59, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Cheers, mate :S Fresh'n'early tomorrow, ok? Fox 09:00, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Black Bear[edit]

No probs :-) I've unfortunately had to stop though because I can't understand what the guy was talking about.. (S)he has written something that i'm assuming is a guide to charming the bear, but I can't decipher it :-| Ibiris 09:17, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Revert wars[edit]

Only make things worse. Please don't. Thanks. --Dirigible 15:35, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Attempting to keep a clearly stated DO NOT REMOVE notice on an article is not a revert war. If the notices are to be ignored and the exact opposite of their instruction implemented, then the notice itself may as well be deleted as "No longer in use". As for your interpretation of GFDL, you are mistaken - it isn't simply the majority of contributors whose work should be released under GFDL, but ALL of them to the point at which the verbatim copy is made. Fox 16:05, 30 March 2007 (EDT)
Contributors who make trivial edits such as spelling corrections can't copyright their contribution under US law. - BeXoR 23:51, 30 March 2007 (EDT)
I don't know which article this conversation refers to but it's not important; trivial edits, such as minor restructuring, spelling correction or something similar, need not be released under the GFDL. If I were to produce an article and then someone else were to 'correct' my spelling of armour to armor, and then I were to release my contribution under the GFDL while the other person did not, this would not mean that the finished article could not be used. But this is something you need to be very careful about! LordBiro 05:26, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
