Hard Mode

We want Hard Mode we want Hard Mode :D, sorry Gaile i just want my Sunspear Titles maxed :D Tomoko 13:21, 14 April 2007 (EDT)

Hard Mode = Very soon indeed. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:25, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
Sometime this week, I hear? I wanna know when so I can time things, my first anniversary with my girlfriend's on the 23rd :D Armond 01:23, 17 April 2007 (EDT)
Don't even dare to touch GW on 23rd, unless your gf plays as well! And congratulations! -- Gem (gem / talk) 06:12, 17 April 2007 (EDT)
Tell me you're joking, Gem... Ectos come before everything else, including girlfriends. Get your priorities straight, mister! --Dirigible 06:17, 17 April 2007 (EDT)
Ectos dont make you coffee in the morning. =D Biz
Thanks, Gem. And she does, as a matter of fact. Depending on the timing, we may celebrate by getting ourselves killed on hard mode. :P Dirigible, ectos don't come before everything, titan gemstones do. Although that max sunspear title is pretty tempting.... Armond 06:48, 17 April 2007 (EDT)
If you see us online (me and Kalomeli), feel free to invite us to party with you. :) (Better stop spamming Gailes talk page) -- Gem (gem / talk) 06:52, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

Hard mode effects on other titles?

Will the other campaign-specific titles be given a way to get to high levels? You mentioned making the Holy Lightbringer level of lightbringer within reach of the players, but as it is Legendary Defender of Ascalon and the Savior of <faction> titles actually take longer then Holy Lightbringer. The absolute fastest you can get faction for the Savior title is about 200 faction per minute doing endless faction farming runs, at say 6 hours a day straight it would take 10 months of endless farming, or about 1650 hours. Legendary Defender of Ascalon I'm not sure on the time but AFAIK it's in the thousands, though much of it is AFK. For comparison if you get a good group together spamming Lightbringer's Gaze the Holy Lightbringer level is maxable in around 500 hours. If it is the belief that 500 hours is considered "essentially unreachable" and needs to be made easier, then what about LDOA and Savior? Implementing a Hard Mode area for Pre-Searing would make the LDOA much quicker, with say lvl 15-20s. Not to mention that the title would actually be a reward for defending Ascalon and not dieing a billion times to birds lol. For Savior you could just increase the rewarded faction a bit, which would seem appropriate since there are far harder enemies to get through.

When I share with players in the game, I'm usually providing all the information that I have on hand. That was the case today, in chatting about the titles. As you could tell, I did not have a great deal of info to share, and for that I apologize. A lot of us on the dev team read fan forums and discussion pages on the wiki involving areas in which we might be able to make a further contribution of information. With that in mind, I invite you to post your thoughts on a fan forum or on a page here on the wiki relating to the titles in question. If there is no page for this particular topic, perhaps you could start one -- we welcome all contributions to the wiki! But you see, this is my personal user page, and as such, isn't really the place for extensive questions or suggestions about the game. Thank you for understanding. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 22:10, 14 April 2007 (EDT)

Soul Reaping rebalancing

Since you said the developers are looking for a 'better way to accomplish the same energy-related "reality check"' I gave it some thought. Very tough problem. Most of my thinking is rather convoluted on the issue. But I do have one very simple suggestion that, on the face of it, looks pretty clean: a creature killed by the necromancer him/herself directly should soul reap completely without regard to the 5 second limitation (i.e. the necro themself directly taking action with a skill/attack/lifesteal that kills the creature). This means that the necromancer could, for example, reliably use (and build with) an expensive energy killing skill, like vampiric touch. Obviously it also rewards the necromancer for being on top of their game, watching vulturously for nearly dead enemies and polishing them off--this seems both thematically and pragmatically appropriate to me. Thanks for great game -- Crystalion. (p.s. my best guess is that you could also allow soul reaping sans 5sec cap whenever what just died had a necromancer class hex or enchantment active on them)

This would make a great addition or start to a discussion page about Soul Reaping. It's not really a good fit for my personal user page. Thanks for understanding. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:08, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

This was my first post (indeed I failed to properly sign it--just learning) so I'm a bit at a loss how to proceed. I've read the "how to help" page, but without a "list of wanted pages" link or other guidance I'm clueless where to move this to. My apologies; feel free to remove it from your user talk as I was mistakenly targetting your personal page from your looking "for a better way" comment. Crystalion 20:22, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

Hey, I'm very new to wikiland, myself! I think I have a good idea, since we can work on this together. Head to the page here: Talk:Soul_Reaping. You'll see others have made articles, so just copy the comment that you made here into that discussion page at the bottom, as the newest comment, and then sign it. You can give it a heading, like you did here. Once you've done that, I will delete it from this page, since it has been moved. And that saves a "This article was moved" flag on this page which... well... I still have to look up to remember how I do those. :) Does that sound like a plan? (And welcome to the GWW!) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:30, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

Done. Thanks. :) Crystalion 20:42, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

Perfecto! I'll move this to the archives shortly. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:43, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

Anti Farm

Even though you state you are not Anti-Farm, I can cleanly remember an npc claiming he earns his gold by completing missions and quests, not by defeating monsters. I cannot remember which NPC I heard this from, something in the Deslotation or Vabbi. Was this NPC created before or after you claimed not to be Anti-Farming? Solus File:SolusSig.jpg 08:39, 20 April 2007 (EDT)

What does the words of one NPC in the game tell about what ANet employees think? Not much imho. -- Gem (gem / talk) 09:40, 20 April 2007 (EDT)

... Anets got balance issues again?

i am at school so i cant use a fourm to post ideas so i'll do it here. For Mesmers to balance them out for pve even with out new skills. there is a very un used side of mesmers... there degen. if you were to maybe decrease casting time or increase duration or decrease recharge. any of these would make degen mesmers a better choise in pve basicly anything that allows them to spread around the degen a bit more. Degen spikes are good, but not in PvE for example Phantom pain is a good skill(the deep wound at the end) but it is still a difficult skill to want to use because of the low degen rate, and high recharge. It can easily be countered with say a healing breze at healing prayer like 2 heres a Mesmer necro build i used for a while Phantom Pain|Fragility|Congure Phantasm|Rotting Flesh|Congure nightmare|Acumalated Pain|Resurection Signet I hope this build helps. this is a degen hex spike, used in boss runs and to kill monks but in large groups i dont do much.66.225.141.109 10:50, 20 April 2007 (EDT) I have all the "Gwen" items except the tattered girls cape i was wonderin if u could help me locate one. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Zail .

Not the place to be my friend. Advertise a buy offer on trade forums of the fan sites. That's where I got mine, though the offer was up for a long time. I only hope it will be of any use, and Canthan characters will have an equal chance to take part in the "quest" that this (and the other) item(s) can unfold. GW:EN and 100% Tyria

Hi there gaile, i was just reading on some stuff about GW:EN and how it describes an expansion of Tyria i was hoping you would know would the 100% tyira title be reset? Or will it be played on a differnt map in Tyria if you understand that lol :D, Cheers DazUltra 18:04, 26 April 2007 (EDT)DazUltra

Maby it count's, but i think i doesn;t cause ppl without GW:EN couldn;t max their title (like skill hunter, the will split it) and if it does, no prbs for ppl who have GW:EN en Proph cause it'kinda small.—Merry File:MerrySig.jpg(talk | contribs) 02:31, 27 April 2007 (EDT)
I'll be called the "Gwen's explorer title track" :) -- ab.er.rant sig 03:00, 27 April 2007 (EDT)
As I understand it there will be the underground of Tyria, the far north shiverpeaks and the coast as teh main areas. I don't see a problem with having htat count separately. Afterall, Elona isn't too far from the crystal desert. I would think it would add another title track to it for those that purchased the expansion because it takes place in new areas, not the same ones. --File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 07:39, 27 April 2007 (EDT)
Or maybe a "World Explorer" track that counted all three continents, the GW:EN areas, and the Battle Isles. That would make the most sense to me. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 06:49, 28 April 2007 (EDT)

They will ofcourse adjust the title to include the GW:EN areas. -- Gem (gem / talk) 13:32, 29 April 2007 (EDT)
(reset indentation) The titles that you earn will not be taken away, and if you are an Explorer of Tyria, for instance, you will not have to explore further to retain that title. Hope that helps! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 23:34, 11 May 2007 (EDT)

GW2

When GW2 is available for us to play, can we still play GW Factions, GW Prophecies and GW Nightfall? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Tulen elementti .

Gaile has stated previously that they will keep the GW servers and support running once GW2 is released. --Lemming64 13:58, 5 May 2007 (EDT)

I think this quote from tonight's Dev Chat was particularly illuminating beyond our confirmed commitment to continue to support Guild Wars after the release of Guild Wars 2: "Building a monument to an accomplishment does not take that accomplishment away from you. And even after you link a character in GW2 to your Hall of Monuments you can continue to build monuments in Guild Wars and they will benefit you in GW2." Interesting, eh? --Gaile User gaile 2.png 23:39, 11 May 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, I've been wondering about that and was thrilled that that is the case. Now we'll just have to see whether the benefits of the new achievements outweigh the drawback of playing the old game. :) Eerie Moss 06:06, 14 May 2007 (EDT)

Kind of a Big Deal Title Track Emote

PvP has a emote for the Hero title track. Is there ever going to be an emote for KoBD title track (like one at the I'm Very Important tier)? 128.255.194.148 18:39, 7 May 2007 (EDT)

Jade Quarry

Hello. I would like to know what are your personnal feelings about Factions' Jade Quarry always beeing empty ? Serge Yseron 01:16, 7 May 2007 (EDT)

Hi, this is an issue I already tried to raise talking to the NCsoft Europe French Community Manager, but I do not know if he forwarded the complain to ArenaNet. At least in European districts it is VERY rare that there are some matches in the Jade Quarry. And even when this happens, it is mainly some guilds that try to explore the area (which is good); however since I am geographically distant from Europe (New-Caledonia), I play at odd GMT hours and I am never able to catch those rare occurrences. The canthean cartographer title is blocked on my main character for this reason at 99.4% and my two other characters could use to re-explore this area as well to gain some more % (they got access during the special week-end last year and never again after). I had planned for some time to temporary move to US servers ; but if it's empty as well... Jaxom 17:44, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
Seems I am not the only one concerned here. Gaile ? Serge Yseron 18:13, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
Feel free to tell me if you find my question to be too ambarassing Gaile. Serge Yseron 20:55, 11 May 2007 (EDT)
Kikoo! Lol! What is you other favourite color Gaile ? ;) looool Serge Yseron 00:47, 12 May 2007 (EDT)
A conversation about Jade Quarry would best take place on a fan forum where it will be seen by the team. Even the suggestion that access be extended during another special weekend might address some of the cartographer issues that you've raised, so by all means bring that up in the forums. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:49, 16 May 2007 (EDT)
In all fairness, the issue of Jade Quarry has been brought up enough times that some response concerning the problem is warranted from the dev team, IMHO. I have seen many, many threads and suggestions on the problem, but we have not heard anything of the dev's intentions to the problem. It just sucks if it is "working as intended" and people have to coordinate a Jade Quarry run through forums just to get the full 100%. :( --68.188.101.47 10:02, 16 May 2007 (EDT)
Oh, but now really, in all fairness this is my personal discussion page. :) Sure we talk about all nature of things here, but I am directing those interested in this discussion to the proper place for it to take place, where it will be seen and where, at some point in the future, we may be able to give a response or form a response that will come in the form of a dev update. No matter how urgent the request for response, this discussion page will not be the place for me or for anyone else from the dev team to engage in a dialogue about game mechanics and/or proposed or planned changes to the game. Thank you for understanding. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 12:05, 16 May 2007 (EDT)
Thanks Gaile for the reply, and as I told, I already mentionned the issue to the french community manager in french forums some time ago, and even proposed some solutions a while back (eg : making those zone explorable areas or making them count in the Canthean missions total brigging it from 13 to 17 (requires 1 win in each side) though this last solution is not compatible with the new hard mode). But as there were no info or acknowledgement of the issue from any of them (the previous one and the current one) I wanted to remind it to you, just in case. It's good to know the issue as been transmitted and may be thought at at some point in the future. Once again, thanks. Jaxom 04:40, 18 May 2007 (EDT)

Rank 15

68.209.230.87 stated that you told a group of players the rank 15 emote is a dragon. Can you please refer to Talk:Hero (title)#15 emote to approve this claim? Thanks! --BigBlueMonk 20.png talk 04:03, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

I have responded. In point of fact, I have never said such a thing, and I believe I made that clear in the referenced article. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:51, 12 May 2007 (EDT)
Of course you didn't - we all know that it's going to be Vin Diesel. On a lighter note, Blue - for future reference, let's try not to ask for confirmation from Gaile on every little thing like this - especially on unreferenced speculation from an IP user. Wait for proof before something goes on the wiki. please. Thanks =) MisterPepe talk 00:56, 12 May 2007 (EDT)
