PvE Bonus Weekends.. Please?
- → moved from User talk:Linsey Murdock and User talk:John Stumme
Hello..
I have been noticing lately that almost all the Login announcements have been about PVP rewards (GvG Double-Reward Weekend, Arena Bonus Weekend ect) so I went to the ArenaNet:Login screen announcements/Archive and noticed that of the last 30 messages (not counting Account safety messages and stuff like that) about 20 of the last 30 messages were PVP orientated.. and most of the ones that were for PVE were liekly only there because a real Holiday (Haloween, New years, St Patric's dayect..)
Needless to say, that is a bit unbalanced
I don't know about many of the other people who post here on this talk page, but I for one don't play the PVP game, and would like to see more weekends that are geared towards the PVP content... (Double Faction points, Improved Drop rates, Double XP or Gold, ect)
So... I suppose my whole point in this post would be to ask the powers that be if we could get some more PvE Oriented Bonus Weekends... Please?
Zaora Amur 04:06, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- The weekend events are relatively balanced. Since January there have been 6 PvE based weekends, and 9 PvP based weekends. With the upcoming birthday celebration that is a 5 day event, I think over all it's been a pretty good balance of things.
- -- Wyn 04:11, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Well.. As the events on the Login screen announcements/Archive page aren't dated, Its hard for me to look at a time period.. However, as I said.. of the passed 30 "events", and again, not counting other types of announcements, 17 are Pvp (miscounted the first time) and according to that same list there have only been 4 Pve Events since Haloween (Special Items This Weekend, Pve Double XP for elite captures and double green item drop rate, Canthan New Year!, Double Sunspear & Lightbringer Points, Halloween Is Back)
- There is the possibility that the list is missing somethings or that you and I have different ideas on what a "PvE" Event is.

- See Weekend events -- Wyn 04:30, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oooh.. Well THAT puts a new spin on the counting I was doing! That looks much more even than the impression I was getting from that other page... Aside from march every month has had two PvP and Two PvE.. I stand corrected. ;)

- Oy, I'm still too big of a wiki noob to keep up with all of this! I will say though, for the record, that I don't believe there is a % breakdown of PvP weekends vs. PvE weekends that would please everybody (although I try to shoot for about 50/50), but I think we are taking a strong step towards alleviating some of this tension with the introduction of the Zaishen Challenge Quests next week since they let you choose whatever you're interested in doing that day. If you guys still disagree after next week, then feel free to harass me more! :) John Hargrove 03:15, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Meh, John.. they'll harass you anyway, inviting them to do so isn't necessary. :D By the way, I think Linsey intended this to be archived in HER questions archive, not moved, but good try anyway :D -- Wyn 14:41, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

[I'm reseting the indent.. I previewed and my text was smooshed. xD] In response to the original message, it's actually been the same for years. If you check the archives for weekend events there's only ever 1 PvE event per month, on exception of Holidays and Special Events. You can't really have PvE events every weekend. The economy is always unbalanced but it's mostly due to the players. If every weekend there was a double item drop or increased bonuses for titles, it's only going to cause a market flood. Think back, if you were here, for when they switched favor of the gods from Hall of Hero wins to max titles. A few weeks later they held a Double Sunspear/Lightbringer points weekend and the "remaining favor" time built up to 3 months [which they reset back to zero after a few weeks]. Plus, most of the time, when a PvE weekend is done, it's something people look forward to, if it happened every week it would lose its spark. PvE weekends other then Exp Gain or Title farming weekends usually drop consumable items. Titles/Achievements tied to those items are supposed to be hard to get. That's the whole point of getting it and showing it off. If event were held weekly then those achievements would mean nothing and held by everyone. :S --Magic 03:15, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Userpage
Hi John, I have a template worked up for you User:Wynthyst/Sandbox/3 it's a blatant rip off of Emily's new layout with a few tweaks, and a bit different code structure. Let me know if you like the colors, and I will finalize the template and you can figure out how you would like to fill it, and get your character images done. The template will create properly formatted links for you to upload them as soon as you add your character names. -- Wyn 05:22, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for putting this together for me Wyn! I know I've been bad by not trying it out yet, but I promise to give it a spin in the coming month or so! Now that I've hit GWAMM I think I should have a bit of extra time at home for some more leisurely activity on the wiki. Something tells me I may regret referring to it as "leisurely" though... XD [John Hargrove] talk 08:54, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- LOL! No worries John, I need to make the change to userboxes rather than builds for you, in the meantime you might want to check out User:Seru/User box templates to see a good selection of the userbox templates already available. It's a little outdated at this point, but is the best single visual collection of all of the templates there is. -- Wyn 08:58, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Future Weekend Events
Could you possibly consider doing a "Double Loot & Lockpicks", "Triple Experience Weekend", or especially a "Weekend to Dye For" in the next month or two? The weekend to dye for was quite fun.. but it's been a long while since we've had one.
- Triple Experience Weekend -- 4 September 2007
Rack up levels and skill points beginning at Noon Pacific time (-7 GMT) on Friday, September 7, when you will receive triple experience for completing missions throughout Tyria, Cantha, and Elona, and completing repeatable primary quests in the Eye of the North expansion. This added boost will last until 11:59 PM (-7 GMT) on Sunday, September 9.
- Weekend to Dye For - 12 June 2007
This weekend, your chances of getting a dye drop will triple across Tyria, Cantha and Elona. The bonus begins at Noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on Friday June 15th and runs through 11:59 PM Pacific on Sunday, June 17th.
Magic Talk 16:37, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm pretty hesitant to run another "Weekend to Dye For" because the general reviews we heard on it weren't very positive, and plus I have been told by a few players that any weekend where other items drop (most holiday weekends) essentially double as "Weekends to Dye For" due to the large number of dyes coming into the economy from raptor farming, or whichever farm folks prefer to use for that weekend. I do think that it has been an awful long time since we did anything to boost XP though, especially for anything directly affecting heroes, so I might be able to see if there is somewhere to fit something akin to that into the rotation. You've probably noticed over the last 6-12 or so months that I've had a bit of fun trying to pair less popular weekend events together to try to make an amalgamation event that tends to be a little more favorable to folks overall. With that said, I should take another look to see where / if any of these could make such a combination! Anyway, I've probably rambled for long enough, so let me just end by thanking you for the feedback Magic! :) [John Hargrove] talk 08:48, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

I just wanted to let everyone know that I finally reached GWAMM yesterday! Sure did take me long enough. - There are presently no plans to do another event that doubles the rate at which you achieve any of the consumable titles. We will of course continue to do some special drop weekends for holidays with items that help achieve these titles, but I think that we are extremely unlikely to ever do another double rate event. The main reason that we are unlikely to do so is actually for the reason "71.127.125.29" mentioned, which is to say that they have the unfortunate side effect of encouraging us to horde up items in the hopes that another one may occur. My achieving GWAMM by spiking the 3 consumable titles should give you a pretty good indicator of just how serious I am about there not being another such event on the horizon! If I had any hopes of one, then I would have held out and spiked during the event weekend and sold off the rest! :) [John Hargrove] talk 19:13, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

I've seen several versions of it and I have to say, there isn't a color that looks bad on it which is a rare thing with festival hats. That and I missed out on the first Dragon Mask so this improved one is a huge make up for it. ^^ Katherinezoltin 03:59, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Nick has done some extra traveling
What happened to Nick this week? Was it Joe trying to program at four in the morning and not paying attention or what? Inquiring minds want to know. Katherinezoltin 23:36, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- My best guess is that Nick must have misplaced the directions we gave him that showed him how to get to the Citadel of Dzagon! You have to give the man credit though, he was able to make it to the Wilderness of Bahdza without any help, but as you could see, he had to wander around a bit until he found the Citadel... For next week we'll try putting a backup set of directions on Yakkington so that Nicholas has a spare in case he misplaces the other one again! XD [John Hargrove] talk 17:37, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- Probably took the wrong boat from Kamadan. He was supposed to take the ferry to Kourna, not the ferry to the Tarnished Coast. *shakes head* Know your boat scheduals before you hop on! Katherinezoltin 23:55, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's like trying to navigate a city without knowing the bus routes! Well, hopefully Nicholas picks up the boat schedules quickly so that this never has to happen again. <( *-_-)> [John Hargrove] talk 23:57, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
