I just noticed i'm on your helper list. <3- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 15:06, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Yep, you helped make it a lot better than this *shudder* Not completely what it looked like since the tabs and user info sections aren't what they were but damn what was I thinking =S --Kakarot Talk 15:15, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Apparently you were thinking "hey, this'll do". Haha.- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 15:18, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

red links

sorry if this seems harsh but its been almost a year i scarcely remember the detail why would any one else? The preceding unsigned comment was added by The master (talk • contribs) 01:42, January 18, 2008 (UTC).

I'm guessing you're referring to the links you removed on the Canthan New Year 2007 page, while it hasn't been added yet, it could still be added. While people may or may not remember details from that event it's also possible that those links will be added during this years event (assuming ArenaNet runs it again). For example the Fortune Teller (Canthan New Year) or Lunar Fortune Giver might make an appearance again this year and by keeping the links on the page this would mean that the links won't need to be readded onto 2007's page. IIRC that exact same situation occured on either the Wintersday 2005 or 2006 page where certain pages didn't exist prior to Wintersday 2007; thus creating red links; but were created during 2007's event. Also as I mentioned in the summary if the situation mentioned happens again it's a lot easier to add the pages using the correct names by clicking on a red link than it is without them. While I do understand the reason you removed them, it's usually best on a wiki to leave links; even to non-existand pages; for future use so they don't end up getting forgotten when/if the pages get created.
Lastly as seen by Gordon Eckers edit here, he also agrees that the links should be on that page even if they don't exist at this time. --Kakarot Talk 02:42, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Having a red link is better than not having a link at all. Having a link is a hint to readers that we need such an article and we would appreciate it if someone could write something useful, even a simple but relevant one-liner. Wiki content is built from an almost unending list of broken links. -- ab.er.rant sig 02:46, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
... I spent a good length of time thinking of that Ab.er and you write a simple two lines that sound so much better than my note xD --Kakarot Talk 02:50, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Heh :D but yours was a good example, mine was just an explanation :) -- ab.er.rant sig 02:53, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello!

Hello! I just wanted to say thanks for the userbox templates. I'm using that one now on my page and re-did it's layout. Thanks so much! You rock :) User Foxysheri sig.png Foxysheri 01:21, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi, not completely sure which you're refering to but your welcome all the same. Also nice job on your userpage :) --Kakarot Talk 15:17, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Addition of profession icons to collector pages

I just wanted you to know that I have added my 2 cents to that discussion. I was on my way to that page to make the proposal for the change when I found you had beaten me to it. I have a few different reasons for wanting it, as my comments explain.--Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 16:53, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Yeah I noticed that you had added to that discussion and I agree with pretty much all of your reasons as well. The main reason I made that suggestion was to make it easier for people new to the game; or even people using a profession for the first time; to get items that they can use without having to search each attribute. When I first made that suggestion I didn't know that weaponsmiths; like the one you mentioned; already included a similar style as the one I was suggesting.
Also to add to one thing you mentioned on that page, regarding a Necro being discouraged from getting a sword, if the attribute requirement doesn't do that why would a simple icon. Especially seeing as how the word requirement suggests that you need the attribute to use the weapon, not that it's preferred that you have it to get full use of the weapon/item. Although I'd rather not include coloured backgrounds to the tables; assuming that's what you meant when you said "I believe it's the style of GWW in using icons and colors that really sets GWW apart from GuildWiki..."; which would mean using something like {{w-color|tint}} for the background colour, if that's not what you meant just ignore this last part. --Kakarot Talk 17:23, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
ack... rainbow tables is NOT what I had in mind... I was just stating that having chosen both profession icons AND colors to use in styling pages on GWW, I think it's important to maintain consistency. Plus people are very visual, and they are used to seeing the icons. --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 17:52, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Haha yeah didn't think you meant rainbow tables or at least I was hoping you didn't. Hopefully this proposed change will get accepted :) --Kakarot Talk 18:10, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to respond here to your post on the formatting page. What you proposed won't work, unfortunately, not just the mechanics of it but also the fact that if the colors changed based on what page they appeared on, it would negate the meaning of the colors. I am removing myself from that discussion while I explore other options. I don't want anyone to get the idea I am trying to force my opinions on anyone. --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 18:45, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Template creation

How did you make that navbar a template at first?- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 15:53, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Basically a template is nothing more than a normal page that includes changable sections. The main difference between a template and a normal page is that it includes parameters. Parameters are anything like {{{this}}}. When making a template, you can either use named parameters; eg: {{{link}}}; or unnamed ones; eg: {{{1}}}. To include the template on another page you would use the code {{User:Vanguard/TemplateName|link=User:Vanguard/Characters}} for the first type, and {{User:Vanguard/TemplateName|User:Vanguard/Characters}} for the second. If you use unnamed parameters each one increases in number incrementally, eg: 1, 2, 3, etc. While using either type you can set a default parameter; this way you don't have to set it each time you use the template; using the following code: {{{link|User:Vanguard}}} or {{{1|User:Vanguard}}}
You can take a look at what that navbar I made looked like as a template using this link. For that navbar template I used 4 main parameters; color, image, link and name; however I included a number after each one 1-7. This way I could use a similar name; since there were 7 boxes in the navbar; to make it easier to work out what each parameter was for.
Hopefully this explanation makes sense as I'm not great at explaining this kind of thing lol, when I started learning about wiki templates I did a lot of messing about in my sandbox as well as looking at other templates. If there's anything that you don't quite understand about my explanation let me know and I will do my best to explain it in detail using examples :)
Also more information can be found on the template help page although I found it a bit confusing at first and a lot to take in. --Kakarot Talk 17:32, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
You can also go here it's more of a beginner's page, not so overwhelming. --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 17:58, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Damn I wish I would of known about that page when I started to learn about templates, would of made it a lot easier for me. --Kakarot Talk 02:11, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
It was something I proposed and lobbied for until it got accomplished, LONG after you started. --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 03:54, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Doh, guess I should learn/remember to look at history first lol. Page looks great, only problem I see is that it isn't linked anywhere, maybe add a link on Help:Editing as well as Guild Wars Wiki:How to help? --Kakarot Talk 13:38, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Go for it :D Linkages are good! --Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 14:05, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok added to the first link I gave but I wasn't sure where it should be on the second one. --Kakarot Talk 18:16, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

I didn't even understand that link. My best bet is for someone to put it in third grade terms, or I'll just have to do a lot of trial-and-error and hope for the best.- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 13:28, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Do you mean my link or the one Wynthyst provided? The one she provided is a lot easier to understand than the one I had. If you have any questions about it just let me know which section and I will try to give a more detailed explanation about what it means :) --Kakarot Talk 14:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
I've decided to go the longer code but easier application route, and just used the 800-some character code on every page. Not as clean as a template would have been but it works.- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 14:36, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

lol thanks Brains. Oddly enough it came out fine on every other page, so it seems to be a problem on Galils page. I left him a message so hopefully he can figure out what is wrong since that page is very useful for testing. --Kakarot Talk 21:23, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I was out, but here it is. Better late than never, I suppose. EDIT: Just noticed above section. Damn you Brains! Calor Talk 21:47, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Y0's Mission Progress Template

Hey TY Kakarot, I thought I was just editing it on my page, ty for correcting it--Uraku 19:32, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

No worries, if you want to have a editable version you could always copy the template into your own userspace; for example here; and then modify it to your own needs, just remember include credit to Y0 for the original template :) --Kakarot Talk 19:56, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing that :o) --Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg 03:28, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Odd, it looked fine in Firefox but in Internet Explorer it was as you said. I think I've fixed it, by the looks of it Yo missed the end tag for span. this is most likely what is causing the problem --Kakarot Talk 03:29, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
I should have tested it in FF but forgot :P (im a IE fan as u know lol) --Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg 03:31, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I used to use IE only but now after getting FF it's pretty much become my primary browser. --Kakarot Talk 03:36, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
I just don't like the way FF looks, the font is terrible --Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg 03:38, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Which font do you mean, the interface, content or something else entirely? At first it wasn't quite as good but once I changed them to the same/similar settings as IE was they looked fine. --Kakarot Talk 03:47, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
The font for everything looks like a 1 year old wrote it :P lol --Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg 03:49, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Userpage editing

I'm sorry, but I have permission to edit this page. Thanks for your concerns though.Awk34 01:20, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok as long as you have permission it's fine. The main reason I mentioned it is because of the second bullet point here, and also it could be seen as vandalism. In the future make sure to mention that you have permission in the summary field to stop any further misunderstandings from occurring :) --Kakarot Talk 01:27, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Question about Collector Weapon Templates

I'm taking it upon myself to clean up the Collector Weapon pages (they're inconsistent, missing data, and I'd actually like to be able to use them ;-), and I noticed you authored and have done most of the updates to Template:All_Collector_Weapons_Header. My question is that it says items are sorted by Region, then type, then attribute. Personally, I prefer sorted by attribute, then type, then region, and was wondering why they are the way they are and if they are open to change? I'm hoping they are, as not all the pages even follow the "rules" in the header. Thanks for any feedback! Scion Of Erixalimar 04:55, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Which collector weapon pages? There are profession specific collector item pages (that are sorted attribute/item type/general location) that don't include those rules in the header and then campaign specific collector pages that do.--Go to Wynthyst's Talk page Wynthyst 07:28, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
The weapon collector pages that I made are separated by game, see here. Since they are first sorted by game it was decided before I started that it would be best if next they would be sorted by region since people searching for a better weapon would most likely be checking what is best in the area that they are up to. As Wyn mentioned there are other collector weapon pages so the order you prefer could be used on one of them already. --Kakarot Talk 14:00, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
hmm...I'll leave the sort that way, and see what I can do...Scion Of Erixalimar 18:06, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

To you for linking the image that's the duplicate of the deletion tagged one. Saves ALOT of time. :) - anja talk 16:27, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Always happy to help out and make it as easy as possible for you :) Although at the moment it takes a bit longer to tag it since I have to manually tag it rather than using GWWT I figured it would be better at the actual deletion if you had a link showing the replacement image. --Kakarot Talk 17:25, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
