Admin Review

In the future, please place {{Admin review}} tag on the user page and not the talk. Don't worry, we've all done it before. :D — Gares 08:07, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

Stupid, new rules. Grrrr.... :p
Guess this old dog needs to learn some new tricks. On a different note, very nice explanation regarding weapon sets. Be nice to try to fit things like that to help new players somewhere in the mainspace. — Gares 13:38, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, I wanted to, but I'm not really sure if there's a way to wikify that to NPoV - it's all far too subjective. I could probably make something up with more different options, but it, like most other things that have to do with monking, is a matter of opinion =P Thanks for the compliment, though XD If you have any suggestions for a way to make something like that for the mainspace, tell me and I'll whip something up MisterPepe talk 13:41, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

You had it coming

Hello, MisterPepe, and welcome to the Official Guild Wars Wiki! If you need help with anything, don't hesitate to add a message to my talk page. I highly recommend that you check out the "Welcome to the wiki" page - it's extremely useful as an initial guide. Best of luck and happy editing!

=P I suppose I did have that coming, didn't I? Of course you know, this means war. MisterPepe talk 13:14, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
LoL - I got it too... but that makes us welcomed and valued :P --- I think... :S Doesn't it...? XD Fox 13:59, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

Just wanted to say thanks for the warm welcome. Crenel 18:50, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

Doh!

I R NOOB. My session expired when I wasn't paying attention. I added Gordac's Hook Blood and edited Gordac's Needle with the IP of 24.0.31.31, instead of my username. Is there a chance this can be edited so credit can be given where its due? (Not holding my breath) Rohar 13:05, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

Nope XD You can go back and edit the page, or you can put something on the userpage of 24.0.31.31 to point to your personal page, but you can't go back and change the user who edited a page =) While it's irritating at times, it's probably a good thing (so people don't claim credit for each other's work). Having Trouble

Let me start by saying, I'm so grateful for the help you gave me earlier. Now I need more, haha. I'm having the damnedest time trying to create a simple line break! How do you do that? I'm trying to set up my userbox images up near the top of the page, and have a general welcome and some basic information, just until I can organize better, immediately under that. But...I'm lost. Is there a general place I can look for all kinds of information about general structure of articles, from indenting, to line breaks, to blocked quotes if I wanted to do that kind of thing? Thanks--Kiyoshi 22:37, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

have you tried {{clear}} after the infoboxes?--Bane of Worlds (talkcontribs) 22:49, 1 April 2007 (EDT)
Thanks! That worked perfectly!--Kiyoshi 23:25, 1 April 2007 (EDT)
The Help:Editor pages over at MetaWiki are probably your best bet to find any kind of information you want about how to work with a wiki. It's basically the documentation of the MediaWiki software, which this site runs on. --Dirigible 23:29, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

3rd person

See this. It really seems to cause trouble that I don't get edit conflicts. :) -- Gem (gem / talk) 13:58, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Haha. Awesome. MisterPepe talk 14:00, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

RC Patrol

Hey, oh like-minded person. I just created my first-ever user box Template:User rc patrol. Take a look; comments and suggestions (and tweaks) welcome :) --SnogratUser Snograt signature.png 18:51, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

I'm not a big pink-person, myself =P That being said, I don't like userboxes to begin with, and I'm horrible at formatting =) I like the category, I just don't want to clutter things up with a user box. Not that my userpage looks that good to begin with =\ I guess, were I to make a suggestion, I might do something like so:
User Snograt Patrol.gif This user patrols Recent changes far, far too much. Seriously, it's disturbing.

Of course, it either needs a new image or transparency - I'd vote a new image, but w/e =P My suggestion is something similar to : [1] - if you really like the magnifying glass, I'd suggest something like so: [2]. As always, take this with a grain of salt =) MisterPepe talk 19:15, 21 April 2007 (EDT)
Sweet :) Heh, the only reason it's pink is because I just copy/pasted the "users who use assassins cos they think they're really cool like ninjas and stuff" (sic) and tweaked it - very limited knowledge of this formatting malarkey. I shall look out for a better image - not over keen on CHP though ^^ --SnogratUser Snograt signature.png 19:22, 21 April 2007 (EDT)
Heh. I was thinking more of a GIMP-fu mod on that CHP thing (Wikignomes: To serve and protect?), but whatever XD MisterPepe talk 19:25, 21 April 2007 (EDT)
Also, I'm a big fan of the "Pepe-inspired tweakage" - combining that with the wikignome comment: [3] MisterPepe talk 19:30, 21 April 2007 (EDT)
My god - what an inpired find: Tweak and underpant gnomes - the connection never struck me ^_^ --SnogratUser Snograt signature.png 20:11, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

delete tag

Hi there, I have put a delete tag on user:Sigma because it is my account and I don't use it anymore. 68.83 02:58, 22 April 2007 (EDT)

Log in with that account and add the del tag from there, then. --Dirigible 03:00, 22 April 2007 (EDT)

Welcomed?

Simple wonder: how come you have suddenly messaged me over 'my talk' page? Have I reached a certain number of editings that make me elegible to be welcomed or was it random? Evergreen 17:48, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

It's even more simple than that. I like to add a welcome message to the talk pages of all newer users, and I saw your name pop up in the recent edits listing with a red link for your talk page - that means that no one has left you any sort of message yet. I usually do that for everyone with a red talk-page link, because that usually indicates a newer user - though I do check the contributions list first (to make sure that they're not a person who's been here for a month without my noticing - I've done that before =\). Either way, welcome =) MisterPepe talk 18:20, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
I have a question! Am I allowed to show the main build I use for each of my characters or is it a violation of the Wiki's guidelines? --Evergreen 13:57, 25 April 2007 (EDT)
Yes and no =) There are really very few guidelines about your userpage, as long as you stay within certain length and image size requirements (see GWW:USER for details). You cannot place them in the main section of the wiki (we're still working on our builds policy right now - take a look at Guild Wars Wiki:Policy/Builds for the discussion in progress. It's looking like we're leaning more towards general guides about an archetype, rather than a specific build). If you run out of space on your main userpage, or just want to keep things a little more organized, try using a subpage (i.e. User:Evergreen/Characters) - many people have put their character information on a subpage to get around the length restrictions. Short answer: Yes, but keep it short, or put it on a subpage. Hope that helps! MisterPepe talk 14:14, 25 April 2007 (EDT)
Oh I see. Thanks a lot for all that. Here's another question though: Tell me why do good monks use shields? I really want to know because that just blew me away when I read that! --Evergreen 14:36, 25 April 2007 (EDT)
I actually wrote an article on that - you can see it at User:MisterPepe/MonkWeaponSwaps =) It's kind of a walkthrough on a basic set of weaponswaps and why each one was chosen. MisterPepe talk 14:40, 25 April 2007 (EDT)

Nice to meet you

Thank you for your note -Power WM

=) Welcome! (By the way, the easy way to sign your messages is four tildes: ~~~~ MisterPepe talk 18:26, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

Oh, I was going crazy over the idea "What if ANET ever creates a less powerful skill called 'Deadly Immunity' :O". Do you like its description? lol. Well thanks.Power WM 18:55, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

Hmm, i used the skill template for the skill and as its name "Deadly immunity" it'll always link its name to that previous page. How can i modify the name of the skill so that itll stay as deadly immunity into the table but redirect to that archived spot?

=P It's a little complicated, because that template wasn't designed for what you want to do. Let me tweak something a little bit - just a minute. MisterPepe talk 19:03, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
Okay, it's fixed. The code (on your userpage in that section) is a little less than pretty, but the links work like they're supposed to now. I'd also recommend reuploading that skill icon to the name "Image:User Power WM Deadly Immunity" just to make sure it doesn't get deleted - now that I've changed the way the template displays on your userpage, the image file name should be fairly simple to adjust. MisterPepe talk 19:07, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

Wow thats a bit of editing :O thanks alot. my page is complete ^^ Power WM 19:10, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

Do you like the 33/ss? lol my new idea I can't even test cause I don't have NF lol. But I can tell it will work. Power WM 20:44, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
=P I pretty much only play PvP, so I'm not really a very good person to answer that XD This really seems, well, more complicated than it needs to be - especially the instructions for having to SS any dying nightmares that pop up =\ I'm not really sure how this is a "revolution" as such. The 55 build also has a fair bit more flexibility - not only can you do 55/SS, but 55/Famine (which can also be done with a hero) works quite well. It really seems that you're trying to make a character that can do what the 55 monk already does, but that's at the loss of some functionality.
To simplify: a 55 monk can simply use Shield of Absorption to not take any damage at all =P Combine that with Protective Spirit, Spell Breaker (for the Dying Nightmares) and a regen skill or two (Mending, Healing Breeze) and you have a ready-to-go character with a couple slots open (Balthazar's Spirit, Essence Bond being obvious choices) and no skills from the secondary. That allows for the use of other skills like Mantra of Resolve and SV/AV. For other kinds of farming, Sliver Armor or Illusionary Weaponry could be used. This build requires both the primary and secondary professions to be set, just to get the basic functionality. The 55 build has more utility and is more common - I don't really see this build as an upgrade at all.
Once again, I know pretty much bugger all about PvE =P Take this with a grain of salt. MisterPepe talk 20:57, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

Hmm I just thought of it cause usually there are barely any 55's around for SS's to get and I thought, well since Elementalist is the second most used proffesion (warrior being first) I thought there would be alot more ppl available to help duo. Also a chance at ectos for more ppl. (I don't have NF for shield of absorption lol) Power WM 21:02, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

hi

Hi, you messaged me in my user space. Thank you for being the first person to message me lol. I have a question because it seems like you know stuff around here, is it ok if I post my builds for farming sunspear points/lightbringer/and others in my user space? because on gw.gamewikis I can. Trevor3443 15:28, 25 April 2007 (EDT)

Yes, but userspace only. The builds policy is still a work in progress, so all builds should probably be on your userpage/subpages. Really, as far as the userspace is concerned, the only restrictions can be found at GWW:USER - mainly, that means a length and image size limit for the main userpage. There are no such limits on subpages. Short answer: Yes. MisterPepe talk 15:34, 25 April 2007 (EDT)
Thanks, I only have 2 builds now and I didn't want to make more to find out I have to remove them all :) Trevor3443 16:00, 25 April 2007 (EDT)
