My ridiculously retarded signature problem[edit]

:D Oh, how do I sign here? When I use the 4 tildes like in the old wiki, it directed the link to the old wiki. O_O I keep typing it all out, which is annoying... Rose Of Kali RoseOfKali 08:03, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Like I did just now by accident... >_< Meant to do 5 tildes for timestamp... 08:04, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Signatures should be the same here as the other... only thing is the image, which isn't uploaded on this wiki. And also, if you use your old signature, don't forget that you're "Rose Of Kali" here, and "RoseOfKali" there (no spaces/spaces). You'll just need to rework the coding from the old one, so it fits here.
Oh, and so you know, the image policy here's a bit different. User images need the user's name in the title. So your RoseOfKaliSIG would need to be named :User_Rose_Of_Kali_SIG.jpg. (Of course, it doesn't need to be called "SIG", but the "User Rose Of Kali" part would be important.) So the total coding for your same signature here would probably look like this:
Rose Of Kali
...simply a matter of re-uploading your signature image here. :D --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 08:18, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
I'm still confused about why it put the sig link (the red link above) with NO spaces PLUS the image link (my old wiki signature) when ALL I TYPED WAS FOUR TILDES. Is the shortcut here also 4 tildes, or something else? I'm confused... O_o (I know about the image uploading thing.) Here, I will type 4 tildes and this is what it comes out as: RoseOfKali 08:24, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Check your preferences page... did you copy+paste any coding into your preferences page here? Maybe you were matching settings on both wikis? Because from the looks of it, you've got the same signature on this wiki as you do on GuildWiki. Only the links here don't work, because it's trying to link to GWW versions of the pages (and they don't technically exist here). The four-tildes system should be the same for any wiki using the MediaWiki coding (which applies to just about every wiki on the web.) Definately check out your preferences here, and try fixing the signature's code that way. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 08:39, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
I didn't even touch the preferences here... O_O Bah.. Guess I'll have to type it all out until I figure out what's wrong... :( Here it goes: Rose Of Kali 08:42, 24 October 2007 (UTC) >_<
Hmm... Maybe I did touch them at some point... O_o I'll upload the image later... Rose Of Kali User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpg 08:44, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Did you somehow copy over all your preferences from GuildWiki? Or, if you've made this account a little while ago, perhaps you just copied it in there without remembering. :D --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 08:47, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
I guess I must have. :P Oh well. ^_^ YAY for short signatures! Rose Of Kali User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpg 08:51, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Do you have an image of a rose lying around that's 19pix by 19pix? GWW:SIGN's policy requires signature images to be that size. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 10:45, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
19x19 now? That seems rather... limiting, no? Wonder how that decision came about. Anyway, Kali, you could probably stick with a rose head and skip the stem, if you wanted to change the image in that way. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 10:56, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, it has been that ever since the GWW:SIGN policy came into effect. Personally I wouldn't mind having the image be 38pix wide with a strict limitation of 19pix in height, but that could be discussed here: Guild Wars Wiki:Sign your comments/Draft_070731. The discussion on the draft isn't very active anymore though. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 11:03, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, if I leave just the rose without a stem, it's gonna look retarded, just a dark blot... :( Damn it, now I have to make a new one again.... *sigh* Rose Of Kali User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpg 03:07, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
If you could get an image of a rose from the top down (just the head), that would look pretty cool. Can't be hard to find a basic image like that, either, if you don't just make your own. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 03:17, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Got a new one now. How'd ya like it? I'm still not sure, it's pretty, but too pink... Doesn't really fit my necromancer primary. ^_^ And you have NO IDEA how hard it actually is to find something that doesn't look like an inkblot in 19x19. I had to crop and resize this thing to where it looks nothing like the original. Rose Of Kali User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpg 04:07, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Storage Value[edit]

If people wanted more room for stuff they would already buy character slots + accounts. ANet's thought process + bad economy obviously means --> sell low value storage for convenience. YES IT'S BRILLIANT! Sell low value and higher convenience when people have tightened their budget, absolutely stellar idea...
The fail of that logic amazes me, guess they don't realize not everyone can piss away money. In any case if they don't drop the prices they will find that they wasted time developing on the xunlai storage, and wasted time is wasted money.~>Sins WDBUser The Sins We Die By Sig.png 19:24, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
The development of the extra storage panes wasn't hard, they've done it before, the main decision was to offer the extra server space. The new thing is the personalized equipment bag, but that's free anyways. Once they make some sales, or fail at it, they might lower the price, but I wouldn't count on it. I'm probably still going to get it (not sure how many yet) simply for the convenience of not having to switch characters and accounts all the time. Long time ago, maybe more than a year now, there was a discussion somewhere about offering extra storage, and many people said they'd pay extra for it, so there you go, they did it. GWAMM Emote[edit]

You asked not to add a WOT to it, so I'll just post it here!

PvP didn't use to be a small community when some of these changes you mentioned (Balthazar Faction, etc) were put in the game, anyone who played way back when could tell you that. There used to be more districts of Heroes Ascent than there were districts of Lion's Arch for example. The reason PvP gets fancier rewards for playing is probably a 2-fold decision, a) PvP is always going to be a strictly harder challenge because a human will almost always be harder than an AI to compete against as you can't exploit the human brain, the few examples there are to counter this use highly sophisticated Artificla Intelligence (Deep Blue etc) that Guild Wars just doesn't have. b) PvP is now a smaller community, in order to help foster a bigger community it helps to give players more incentive for trying it out. PvE has unique stuff already - many many titles, items that can only be gotten in PvE (r8 Tactic shields, double degeneration weapons, etc), 3 campaigns worth of content (areas, missions, cutscenes, etc) telling a story, an expansion with even more said content, and so on.

The Fame Emotes were there to replace Fame Sticks from beta as the Fame emotes are way more noticeable and easier to see to help grouping etc. Titles did change that situation though to be a lot easier. If a PvE PUG wants you, they'll probably ask you to display a certain title (like Norn for pre-nerf Ursan PUGging) anyways, or they'll ask you to run bars where this largely doesn't matter (RoJway). Either way the "GWAMM" title underneath your character will be pretty eye catching to them and they'll know your decent enough from that alone. Showing off in PvE is mostly done with titles + armor + weapon skins, and showing the emote in PvP would be moot, no one would care (like they mostly don't care about rank emotes). Basically I'm alright with it, but I don't see the point such an emote would have. I think something that would be better would be a toggeable and different Divine Aura like that modifes the existing emotes, or the Boss Aura idea on Guru, it'd be flashy enough to get the point across and still useful in some way.

A minor correction to your post is that a lot of PvP players did have gold as they PvE too. :P Using PvE characters is in the long run smarter for PvPers at least for the role you main on. Easier to get the skins, anything you need you can just buy quickly, and with the unique items that PvE has it's easier to get those skins without having to trade them back and forth across characters etc. Some PvPers (Divine Ambassador of Dark Alley etc) are actually God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals. DarkNecrid 21:34, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for not putting this on Linsey's page. I appreciate your comment, I never played PvP much, so I'm speaking strictly from a PvE player's point of view. As I mentioned, it didn't have to be an emote, it can be an aura similar to the divine, or even something else, anything, like the boss aura you mentioned (though I don't like that one as much, it could make armor look weird). Basically, these emotes are flashy and fun, outside of their function, and are much easier attained in PvP. The zrank emote is just different weapons impaling people around you, which already screams PvP, and is still much easier/faster to attain for a PvP oriented player - they would be likely more proficient in the XTH betting, can exchange loads of faction for zkeys, and get higher zcoin rewards, which again can be exchanged for more zkeys. Plus, they get the hero track emotes, pretty much exclusive to PvP, which are also much more "attractive." Having something comparable in PvE would be nice, even if nothing more than just "nice," especially considering the trend of all the unique PvE things migrating to PvP. I understand that trying to draw crowds back to PvP is important, but the better way to do it would be to figure out why they left in the first place, instead of making PvE sort of second-grade and taking all their stuff and giving it to PvP. This strategy might draw new players into PvP initially, but if PvP is somehow unattractive or broken to begin with, they won't stay, anyway, the rewards wouldn't be worth it. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 22:19, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
PvPers left because they made PvP second grade and gave everything to PvE with Nightfall even though Guild Wars was originally meant to be a PvP game (they know they fucked up though). PvP is becoming more-or-less as balanced as it can be post Nightfall, and so all this stuff you mentioned is their attempt at trying to make the game the way it originally was before they decided to shit on 50% of the game and being slightly more focused on PvP. I don't think there's anything wrong with this, the majority of the community should never have everything just because they are the majority tbh, and when PvP was the majority, we never had everything because PvE still had its sense of progression and was going to receive content upgrades like Sorrow's Furnace (which they stopped doing and started just focusing on huge content upgrades). PvE is pretty cool but Guild Wars was built from the ground up to be a competitive game (#2 in that video) and so it should be slightly biased towards PvP in some respects, especially when it was ArenaNet's fault that they screwed up that part of the game long ago and helped make most of the community die off. It's pretty sad that there's like 2 HA districts at any one time, a whole 5 with the Zaishen Quests when long ago even HA used to have 30+. DarkNecrid 23:23, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
BTW, if you want me to expand on any of the above I can. I'm not one to "look down" on PvE players or anything so if you want to know more or whatever then I can explain. DarkNecrid 00:41, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I think I get the gist of it. They called it competitive, but it just turned into an MMO, because you can't have both in one and still keep both happy. I do agree that they "broke" the game with the Nightfall power creep, and finished it off with EOTN. The game would have been much better if they stopped at Factions. However, things change, and if something was meant to be one thing, and ended up another, it doesn't mean that it should be changed back to the initial idea, but should be built up on its current state, especially now that it's pretty much impossible to bring back the "old days" of GW without basically removing half the content. What they're doing now seems kind of like trying to cover up a stinky armpit with more deodorant, without washing it first - it's just going to stink even more later. Consumables unbalanced the game quite a bit to begin with, but look, they added more candies and more elite items that are virtually unattainable for "casual" players, which now make up the majority of the crowd, and whine about it. At least they didn't add any more PvE skills, yay... These quests and coins are little more than another grind of the same old thing, just without a title attached to it. They are "thinking" about removing heroes from PvP, but are being very cautious about it, a little too cautious, if you ask me. Right now people prefer to bring heroes because they're better at some things than humans. Once that's gone, those who want a PvP team or guild/alliance will become more active at recruiting and teaching their friends and allies in order to form strong reliable teams, and it will bring back some of those who left simply because they got pissed off at all the perfect interrupts and spike protections. Skill balancing, of course, is always an issue as well, and removing one size fits all wonders like Palm Strike would create more variety, hopefully reviving the lost interest in those who are sick of the same cookie every time. Take JQ: it's who out-RoJ's the other faster... It's pathetic, really. The new quests bring a crowd, but don't fix the problem. I can't count how many times someone asked "where's heroes ascent, is that where you play with heroes?" at GTOB today, or what's HB, how do I get to team arenas, etc... That's not the kind of crowd that will revitalize PvP, it will only frustrate the remaining "legitimate" PvP players. It's like bringing a PvP veteran but PvE noob to DoA or Deep, or even a basic vanquish in Desolation - it just wouldn't work 95% of the time, and the remaining 5% won't make a difference. Sure, these quests have their own benefits, but they are not the fix that PvP needs. I enjoy the bounties, because it brings me to forgotten bosses and areas I've encountered a long time ago, and brings back some lost memories. The mission quests, however, feel like a grind, because I've already done it for Guardian title, and a dozen more times on other characters, but I still feel like I have to do them, because it'll take forever and a half to get a single 20 pack just doing bounties, and I do need it, because my main necro has less than 20 free slots right now, and I'm not going to buy them off of someone else, because I'm saving money for other things, and I don't farm my ass off day in day out like some people. There's a crowd shouting lfg in each mission, but I still go with heroes and henchmen, or sometimes a guildmate with heroes, because half of that crowd will wipe in the first 10 minutes of HM or run off god knows where. People forgot they needed to be infused for RoF, even though they were screaming "pro necro lfg HM ZQ I have all skills" at the top of their lungs... So these don't really help "revive" PvE much, either, I still do it alone with my heroes, be it "Noone hears you" when you say "Hi" in the main district, or 5 districts full of hyper overexcited LFGs. These all over the place quests are like waving a stick in front of a bunch of excited dogs - they will follow it eagerly like it's a rotisserie chicken, knocking down everything in their path and make the kids rofl, but it won't teach them that the potty is outside or to walk with you and not drag you down the street like a ragdoll. And I think I am starting to ramble random things now, because I'm sleepy, so good night, I'll talk to you tomorrow. ^_^ User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 07:50, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I disagree with your idea that they shouldn't change it back at this point (or at least try). There's plenty of content to satisfy straight PvE players still (very few have GWAMM), and from a business perspective it's very worth it to get people to PvP. PvP doesn't need new content, it just needs balancing. New PvP content is generated every time someone hits Enter Battle, so in the long run it's cheaper for ArenaNet and the Live Team if they can create ways to be more interested in PvP, rather than creating whole new content (I figure they'll add new ways to get the missing 3 hero classes).
I'm skipping down to Palm Strike because everything before it was correct lol. Palm Strike is actually okay being super versatile, the problem is that it isn't actually very versatile. The fact that it adds Crippling forces people to take it with Trampling Ox which basically destroys any build versatility there is. If they just changed the Condition it inflicted (Weakness, Cracked Armor, something...), and upped the recharge slightly they would have a fairly balanced Elite that could be used in a variety of bars. It'd be very Prophecies-Factions esque where a lot of the Elites weren't very strong by themselves but they gave you more versatility bar wise (Offering of Blood, Mantra of Recovery, Crippling Shot, etc), whereas now Elites are power houses that decide the bar for you for most classes.
As for "frustrating" the PvP players, I think you greatly underestimate PvP players. Maybe if it was just RA (and to a lesser degree, AB) players who no one really likes because all they do is talk about sex/drugs/more sex/politics/even more sex then I'd agree, but once you look beyond the scope of RA and AB, most of the community is pleasant. Sure, there's always going to be the asshats, but for the most part if you ask someone nicely for help, you'll receive it, a lot of the top end are very very nice too. So I don't think it'd be too frustrating, because those players also understand that that player can sometime down the road possibly become very very good.
As for taking a PvP person into PvE areas and failing 95% of the time, I have to disagree. As I mentioned above, most PvP people PvE to some disagree. The people with the PvP kits can't, and some people just don't want to, but it's a nice break if you don't want to do Random Arenas or something or are waiting for people to get on etc. PvE is actually not very difficult, all you have to do is build wars against the builds the enemies have while still being the win. I can't remember which area it was, it was either FoW or UW, but 8 PvP people went in with 8 PvP bars and 0 consumables and won like a year to a year and a half ago. I remember that being mentioned on Guru! I think you'd actually be more successful if you took most PvP players over any PvE person because more of the game's fundamental concepts are understood by them. They interrupt better because they've had to interrupt 3/4 casts before often, they kite better because kiting is way more important in PvP, they weapon swap appropriately (flame shield vs searing flames Flame Djinns, etc!), they understand the concept of Build Wars and using meta builds and changing them for the situation and so on. While this might not be the case for your average RA person, when you look at even the middle end with just average players like me, you'd definitely snag someone awesome.
The Zaishen Quests are a good start. If they want to fix PvE they have to undo Nightfall and not add tons of MMO grind to the game and focus on their original design choice of making PvE a lead on into PvP. Instead, they added tons of (optional, but stilll....) grind. This basically makes people not want to check out PvP as much, and it also added lots of dumb things to the game like Consets and PvE skills. And then to make sure the PvE playerbase doesn't complain about Skill Balances anymore they did the Skill Split which further helps people not want to try out PvP and when they do it makes it even harder for them because they have to relearn skills. If they want to fix PvP at this point they need to do better balances and give PvE players a reason to check it out. Create a better tutorial area that teaches weapon swapping, kiting properly, etc and not just LOL BURNING -7 DEGEN :OOO, create a better starting game mode like Costume Brawl to ease players into it, only have it open 24/7, because Random Arenas is NOT a good starting area anymore, let PvP only characters buy a Star of Transference from Tolkano for 1 Skill Point so Skill Points can be transferred to their main PvE character, improve the scrimmage functions substantially (scrim in other game modes + maps, set rules, etc), and most importantly give PvP only rewards beyond just the Mini Ghostly Hero and Hero emotes. These rewards should scale with game mode, so RA has cool stuff but TA has EVEN COOLER STUFF. I think the example I gave Linsey was after you win a few times in RA you could buy a (non-tradeable, as all these items would be) Necrid Horsemen tonic, and as you advance you notice GvG has a Shiro Tonic, and who DOESN'T want to be Shiro? So stuff like that. Give out unique untradeable minipets/summoning stones/tonics/etc.
I think an MMO and a PvP game can exist side by side, and it's going to be called Guild Wars 2. You have your progression based content in PvE areas, but the instant someone goes into the PvP areas they instantly become UAX and have access to every skill/item while there. ArenaNet just has to remember that you can't go and add tons of power creep just to satisfy PvE players - you wind up just destroying the other half of the game. I think they're going to use PvE skills a lot more in GW2 to fix this. Normal skills will be available in both while certain skills that are stronger and focused for the PvE experience will be on the PvE side. That's my theory anyways (combined with the Skill Split I'm sure...).
It's incredible to imagine how different this game would have been if they stuck with the Prophecies - Factions mantra. The design of those 2 campaigns shows exactly what they were thinking. Deliver a good story experience, (in Prophecies case) teach player's a couple of things along the way with the desert missions being PvP styled objectives, (in Factions case) make it a bit shorter to quickly deliver people to PvP, and then keep that up. A game without the grind that was still about skill > time in both sides. Regrettably that's only true for PvP now. In PvE people with more time get stronger skills and access to more broken consumables and other such items.
Anyways, hope you enjoy the WOT, talk to you later today. DarkNecrid 16:56, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I did enjoy it. It again shows some of the misconceptions PvE players have about PvP players. I've encountered few of them in PvE, but most of them were not experienced in either, I guess. I think the reason is that if PvP players PvE, they have a strong guild (usually required for mid to high end PvP) and go together to take a break from PvP, instead of pugging with random PvE players like me, so most of what we get to see is the stragglers who don't know much about the game either way, but call themselves PvP and whine that PvE is stupid. Also, the fact that your example got posted on Guru means that it is not expected to happen, and is likely a rare occurrence, because I can't imagine many PvP players getting into high end PvE.
I guess it can't be said enough how much the consets broke PvE. Holiday drops like cookies and eggs are fine, they're not OP and are somewhat fun to use, both for their effect and for the sugar points. But things like Essence are little more than a gold sink, and out of reach for most except farmers. Plus, they inflate material prices even further than before, making it seem like I'm never going to get my Silver Eagle... Summoning stones seem like a fun idea, but are too expensive for most people to craft, unless they come from free things like Zinn's Task and gift of the traveler. But more so, I just don't understand why they were added at this point in the first place, we have more than enough cons already, Anet KNOWS cons are offenders in breaking the game, but yet, they added even more... Mercantile stones are neat, but guess who's going to use them most? Keg farmers, FoW farmers, and DoA farmers. More power to the farmers!
What I meant about that they shouldn't try to go back to the old idea is not about trying to put some emphasis back on PvP, that's fine and great and needed. The thing is, going back to pre-Nightfall state is now impossible without radical changes that will make every PvE crybaby throw a tantrum to their mommy that they took away his consets and title skills. Not only they would have to take those away, but they would have to completely overhaul dervishes and paragons, as well as many of the high-end areas, which would become completely deserted, because they are nearly impossible without consets and PvE skills. Trying DoA without a conset and some of the cookie cutter builds like Imbagon is a simple waste of time, it can't be done, except maybe by a handful of players out of the entire 6-million chapter playerbase. Changes like these are so radical, that it's too late to do a revert of this scale. Thus, I think it's impossible to go back to the "good old times," which is a shame. They added too much stuff, most of which is grind grind grind, and they can't just simply make it go away now, or all the people who did some of the grind already will ragequit.
I like your idea of non-tadeable PvP rewards. (Had they made zkeys not tradeable, that would have solved the problem right there, but alas.) Many people will get into PvP just for that, and will have to get good at it to get past the RA reward, because soon everyone will have it and it won't be as "cool" anymore. In fact, I can think of a cool high-end reward I'd personally work for: an everlasting tonic that turns you into a random henchman except Brutus and Sheena - a la Mysterious tonic, that matches your profession at all times, and can be used in a PvP match and PvE explorable. This way, it doesn't break anything, because you still look like a monk if you're a monk, or a warrior if you're a warrior, you're not oversized, etc, so it doesn't introduce any balance problems. This way you finally have something fun to use in PvP as opposed to all these items being PvE-only. However, along with the rewards, they will need to do some serious balancing to make PvP enjoyable again at all levels, especially the entry level, in order to keep newcomers interested. I've tried PvP a couple times, and simply didn't enjoy it, because it was the same thing every time, which defeats the point of "creating new content every time you hit Enter Battle," so I won't bother until I finish my GWAMM and the rest of my PvE goals. Once that is done, maybe I'll start to PvP, and maybe they'll "fix" it by then, but who knows. Having Palm Strike inflict a random condition, like Drunken Blow, or even be a slow hex instead of cripple condition (maybe?), would fix its versatility problem, as now you're not confined to a cripple-dependend offhand attack, but still get the slow down effect that can be removed if the target is prepared. I also keep hearing people whine about Lingering Curse and some other skills, but I just don't even bother researching the problem, because it doesn't pertain to me, and I'm not curious enough. And a lot of PvE players are like that: they just don't care about PvP, period. Zquests only work as long as they don't get tired of it because they can't win reliably enough and it's not worth the time for the extra reward. Everybody wants the Easy Button, and if the button doesn't work, they go somewhere else, instead of learning how to do it. The only combat zquest I did so far was JQ, and it was basically 50/50 chance to win, depending which team had more RoJ's and fewer leechers, but I've decided to not bother with it anymore, because it still takes too long for the reward, compared to repeating bounties and missions on other characters, which are predictable and reliable. I will try RA next, I'm curious to see if anything changed since the last time I was there. Maybe I even have a good chance, considering most people who go in have never done any PvP before, and can't even PvE for that matter.
Anywho, I'm running out of things to say, but have another WoT. ;) I really enjoy this, because I have a chance to discuss something with a person "on the opposing end of the stick" so to speak, and learn something new, without a fight breaking out. And so far, there aren't any intruders, either. It's very nice. :) User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 18:30, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
IIRC it was posted on Guru because some PvE person said PvPers fail at PvE so they got their guild together and did it and took screens. :P Consets broke PvE but they only broke it further than it already was. Many other things helped break it prior to EotN consets. PvE skills helped break PvE too, but more importantly the skill split was the killing blow tbh. I don't think consets were the thing that really broke PvE, it was the skill split system. Instead of using it correctly, y'know, to actually balance PvE, they used it to make everything super omega stupid. Case in point: Ancestor's Rage, Splinter Weapon, and the two biggest offenders: Shadow Form and Ether Renewal. The first 2 are super strong AoE skills, the former 2 are God Mode and God Mode that Has Infinite Energy and Throws out 300 HP Heals + prots for free. The PvE community (not everyone obviously, but you've seen the type) assumes that ArenaNet just nerfs stuff because PvP players "QQ" and "can't adapt", when largely these balances are done because of feedback and their own discussions internally and are good for both sides of the game (or were prior to skill split). Splinter Weapon + Ether Renewal make PvE so mindnumbingly easy now because of the Skill Split system. There's so many people in the PvE community hellbent against any nerf that they find the easy scapegoat (PvPers) and just go with it. And it's ridiculous, I've talked to some PvErs who think Soul Reaping sucks and needs to be reverted in PvE. It's still the best attribute in the game in PvE and they think this. It's like...it's an online RPG, the balance of things are going to change, and generally things are balanced around PvP because monsters don't quit your game if it's imbalanced, but players do. No one likes fighting against overpowered crap. :/
I agree they can't go back to the old ways per se, but what I meant was the ideals of the old ways. They're pretty much forced to keep the systems they have now, but they don't have to expand on them anymore (new titles, etc) and can give PvP more cool stuff. I'm glad you liked my idea for PvP items! :P
I am torn on how to reply about it being the same each time. It used to be long ago that a lot of different types of builds were viable but that was because the power level of everything was really low so that was easier to accomplish. Now and days, there's a lot less builds per game type, but I think that it's not so bad. It's still different than PvE, I mean, if you go into Riven Earth you have a good idea of what to expect. However, AI always acts the same and can be exploited, whereas even if you encounter the same exact team twice in Random Arenas, they will perform different tactics based on the map and what team you have. So while the skills may be similar, the tactics being employed are different and that itself makes the match different and unique and "new content".
You're right about the easy button thing, I think that's partly the biggest mentality difference between the two sides. A lot of the PvE community wants the easiest to run overpowered bars now (RoJWay, Cryway) and they don't mind them. Many players love them. Whereas even if your average PvP person uses something overpowered they'll still say "hey this needs to be nerfed" because they know it's overpowered and bad for the game. Easy buttons ruin the enjoyment of PvP because it takes out the skill of it really. You mentioned Lingering Curse, it's overpowered because it's a cheap, fast casting, fast recharging, long duration, multiple target hex that applies a semi-Deep Wound effect at range. There's no drawback to it at all.
I agree it is pretty cool to have a 1 on 1 talk about it and not have it degenerate at all :P. DarkNecrid 20:51, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I just remembered that I forgot to ask you if you still play, I'm rebuilding my PvE character and am currently blowing through the NM's of all the campaigns and wouldn't mind a little company if you do? :D DarkNecrid 21:32, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
I remember the first days of nightfall when everyone made a paragon and ran off to PvP, and all MM's were N/P. That was the beginning of the end. Then paragons got to taste the nerfbat, and dervishes slowly crawled out onto the scene like a mega tank (pun wasn't intended, but fits the bill) and took over everything (in PvE at least), making warriors nearly obsolete for a while. Looking around, half the casters were X/D for just one skill, and warriors were nearly begging to get into any pug. They got a little of the glory back with Ursan, having the highest armor and Strength bonus, but Ursan broke the game further after nightfall power creep, so it helped warriors, but little else.
The skill split was a mixed blessing. Having more powerful versions in PvE made some areas easier. But other areas that are populated but foes using the said OP skills became a nightmare. The only viable way to complete Elona Reach now is to get it ran, otherwise it takes 5 minutes to deal with a single mob, most of which had 2 monks with Aegis WoHing themselves, each other, and everything around them. Some bosses and mobs with these split/buffed skills also became the bane of vanquishers, as some of them are impossible to kill without using cons and gimmick builds worthless in the rest of the vanquish.
Heroes were also a great idea, it's one of my favorite features now (I really taste the pain when I try to play on my Prophecies-only mule acct for a change), but that doesn't mean it was a good one. Anet shot themselves in the foot with heroes, because it further allowed people to alienate themselves and play alone, without needing real teams. Their mission of encouraging teamplay died that day. However, in a way, it was also necessary. They introduced so much new content, including titles and hard mode, that it spread real players too thin, and made it nearly impossible to find a full group for anything but farming runs, while henchment were (and still are) nearly worthless. I still see announcements to "borrow" heroes for a vanquish, because 3 heroes are still infinitely better than 4 henchmen.
Older players were bored and wanted something new to do, but introducing another giant continent and new professions was not the solution. A better way to keep them entertained would have been more difficult but repeatable content (like DoA, but without the campaign to go with it), and a useful long term goal to work for (like the heavy equip pack on each character, but that alone is not enough).
Also, they should have tried to bring more focus on PvP back then, before Nightfall, as PvP clumps a lot of players together and keeps them busy virtually infinitely. Basically, the goal then would have been to make a PvE char, do everything there was in PvE (which was still fairly doable on multiple chars back then), get all skills, all the cool armor that you couldn't get in PvP, and then go PvP for the rest of that character's days. Got bored? Make another class and repeat the process. Having an end to PvE was a good thing, and would have motivated people to look for new challenges in PvP, especially if it got its own rewards like the PvP-only items you mentioned. Many PvE players play storyline for a sense of progression, adding a progression of unique rewards for PvP, besides just titles alone, would have made it more attractive to the PvE crowd. But with Nightfall, instead of bringing PvE and PvP communities together, they drew them so far apart in nearly an instant, that there was no turning back.
EOTN just made the gap even larger, and destroyed the rest of already imbalanced and partially broken (but still possibly fixable) PvE - so the final boss' name seems quite fitting here, as he got the job done, even having been killed. The idea of EOTN, the storyline aspect, the HOM, were all great things, but the new skills, cons, and title grind were all wrong. The uber-micro-elite weapon skins didn't help much, either.
I've been trying to motivate myself to start PvP a little, as that aspect of the game is still a dark shadowy forest for me, while I know PvE like the back of my hand. But haven't been able to get into it, because the motivation just isn't there due to lack of the sense of progression, and the fact that all I hear about PvP is how badly broken it is and how much people whine and gripe about it. And I also feel like I must achieve everything in PvE first, which is starting to get quite tiresome with a single character, while the other characters couldn't even dream of the 10-title rainbow phoenix (until the menagerie), getting all skills, or finishing all campaigns with each one.
All in all, there are things that Anet can still do to reduce some of the problems, but I don't think that it's possible at this point to "fix" GW1. It's still a great game, and largely the only thing I play, but it also shows many of the problems that Anet should do everything possible to avoid in GW2. Some of the released tidbits about GW2 indicate that they are at least trying, but we'll just have to wait and see.
And I still play NM on my other characters, trying to get them to finish campaigns and such, so I'd love to play with you if we are around the same place. Most of my characters are still in the beginnings of Nightfall, some are around Vabbi, while a few are somewhere around the Crystal Desert in Prophecies, and one just finished Vizunah in Factions (most others beat factions or are in Harvest Temple), so I'm sure there's someone somewhere near where you are. I also enjoy playing my other, somewhat underdeveloped characters, as it's more of a challenge, and makes me use different tactics and builds for their professions. I'm so used to my necromancer, that it's sometimes hard to play anything else, and feels rewarding when I finally get it. :P User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 21:53, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Elona Reach[edit]

When you say it is nearly impossible, do you mean even with carefully selected builds and proper pulls ? Yseron - 90.14.227.65 20:42, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Note the word "nearly," meaning that it is often impossible for people who don't have the access to "carefully selected" builds that are required, or heroes needed to run the said builds. I'm not talking about UAX/have everything players, but the majority of people who get here simply to ascend, having just come out of the Maguuma, and possibly not even being level 20 yet. Pulling is always assumed, but with a group of warriors and rangers blinding and crippling you, eles with KD that takes off 1/3 of your party's health, and 2 WoH monks per group with Aegis healing everything is rather time consuming to fight one mob out of dozens on your way, considering you are on a time limit to get both crystals. Thus, it is much easier for an experienced player to prepare a build to run this for everyone else, than for most people to prepare a team to be able to fight through it quickly enough. This is quite a contrast, considering Thirsty River can be ran with H/H quite easily, without any special preparation, even in Hard Mode. Every time I'm in the outpost, there are always a couple runners and a crowd of runnees, and I don't even remember the last time I did this mission without a runner, because it's just too annoying, especially with the WoH buff. You need interruption/diversion of healing skills, with massive healing and condition removal for your party, along with anti-KD if you can. This is not as easy as it may seem in a 6-person party unless you already got yourself some good heroes and max armor before venturing to ascend and get your 30 attribute points. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 21:32, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Plague touch, the free "5e NPC rangers cant hit for Mr Bean' sake because they had blind in their bar", is available at Beetletun. Mantra of Earth is available at Fishermen's Haven, etc.. The designers took care to make a diversity of usefull skills for all the professions available soon in the game. Did you try ? Better yet, did you get the opinion of the designer themselves to try and see if they also think that this mission is 'imba' ? Yseron - 90.29.176.117 17:45, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Actually I agree with Kali on this one... for the location it is, we arnt talkign about the bonus here, were talking about getting newbie proph characters thru to assention and we can not even assume they have picked up the elites from missions like Thirsty River (or the ones inside elona)... Proph characters get to work with the henchmen in the area (level 17 I think) and are about the same level themselves and they will not have fantastic gear either as max armour at droks has not been achieved yet (without also assuming they get a run there)... Elona is one tuff nut and I recall the first characters I ever had I got it run cause it was well worth the 1k for a 6-8 min run then the 20 mins of angst and failure... MrPaladin 17:49, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
The designers designed this mission 4 years ago. It used to be balanced, I remember doing it with my oldest characters, and not having much of a problem, it was difficult, but very much doable. Then WoH got the buff to almost double its former power, and the ability to be used on the caster. Monster AI has also improved since 4 years ago. Later, self heals for warriors and elementalists also got a buff, making the problem worse. The mobs in this mission were not readjusted for these skills, and I still consider it the most difficult mission (forget bonus), considering its place in your character progression, and the campaign it's in. The best armor you can get here is either 51 (for casters) with insignia, or go on an endless scavenger hunt all over the desert for uninsignable max armor. You can't put mantras on henchmen, or make yourself R/N/Me all at once, and you only have one elite per profession so far accessible to you, most of them being mediocre at best, except WoH itself, but good luck finding a single real monk wanting to do the mission with you... I didn't go and tell everyone to have this mission ran, people decide to do that themselves, and for a good reason this time. Your solutions are to get your guild to help you, pay a measly 1k for a run and forget about it, or go get heroes, skills, and armor in other campaigns first, forgetting about your 30 missing attribute points for the time being. Hey there[edit]

I see a lot of your posts on here, and I thus assume that you know your way around this wiki. I was wondering if you could somehow "forward" a suggestion I have to a suggestion page someplace, since I have almost no knowledge of how to do this, being somewhat of a traditionalist (if that is possible as a gamer). Anyway, the suggestion has to do with botting. As a former botter, there are very simple ways to A. catch botters or B. make it simply not viable to bot. Most parts of botting involve targeting, i.e. "Target nearest ally" or "Target nearest item". There are ways to prevent botting without harming normal players, for instance, removing these targeting features inside outposts. I doubt that very many non botters target the nearest ally or item INSIDE an outpost very often. These features could be restored during holidays, when presents are dropped and such. If that is not possible, simply flag how many times a player does this, more than 5-10 or so should be a bot. Other solutions are simply to move signs around or move npc's, which are most often used for targeting. Inserting bits of that picket fencing into the game to block them is also an option, which would make it very obvious which players are bots, if masses of them get stuck in the same place. This would not hinder normal GW players very much, as they are quite capable of moving around a fence, although it might be a nuisance. Another idea could be to place merchants, or whatever npc the botter might be after, in a place where it isn't viable to be targeted, for example, in a corner beside two other npc's. Bots rely heavily on timing, based on connection speed and loading times. A neat trick would be to implement an X-second delay on loading screens, randomly. For example, when loading into Bergen Hot Springs, every third load you must wait a certain number of seconds before being allowed in. That would not cause too much of a bother to normal players, but I have no idea how difficult that could be to implement. That statement goes for all of these ideas, as I have no idea how this game is run. Also, some bots can change direction based on the color of a pixel in a designated location on the screen, so a change of color of walls and backgrounds every so often could prevent more advanced botters. Anet is looking at the problem from a more difficult perspective, making the problem seem too great. Simply think outside the bot =D Rose, if you could forward this to someplace where suggestions are, that would really help a lot. I apologize for cluttering up your talk page. ----Tha Reckoning 06:33, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Currently Anet cannot respond to any suggestions due to legal issues, and there is no designated place for them, per se. I personally don't know much else about it. So far, people have been advised to make a Username/Suggesions subpage and put their suggestions there until the legal issues are resolved, include Category:User suggestions at the bottom. Here's an example. See User talk:Mike O'Brien for some discussion about it, if you feel like reading walls of text. Sorry, I can't help you more on this. I do like some of what you said, but don't know how feasible that would be. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 18:50, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Bias #1

Bias #2

--adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 21:31, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, I'd like to see the answer on #2. I will be honest with you and say that I do not agree with everything you have against Anet, however there are things where I do side with you. It's a mixed basket. In any case, I'm very curious about what happens, as at this point neither side is completely right or wrong. All things considered, Anet needs to "straighten" themselves out and start explaining things, as they are walking on a razor's edge. This is now a rather public issue, and even though it's technically their game and they can technically do anything they want and they technically have all rights to be pissed at you for events long past, they need to watch their reputation now. A little objectivity never hurt anyone, aside maybe race horses with broken legs. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 21:58, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah i'd like a response too. Im fine if they're pissed at me, but they don't have the right to discriminate. --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 22:02, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I think you need to shift the emphasis a little bit away from discrimination, which can be a somewhat gray and personal area, and a little bit more towards objectivity and consistency. This would make it harder for them to play the "at our discretion" card, because while small inconsistencies are to be expected, perma-bans (and character renaming to a lesser extent) need to be as consistent as possible, being permanent and serious forms of punishment, as opposed to temporary suspension. A suspension is basically a slap on the wrist, so I don't really care if they sometimes go easier or harder with it, it's only human. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 22:13, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Do you know the story behind someone named Wasabi? In the next post after the one where Anet fails to respond or resolve anything yet again, Gaile gets huffed at a person about someone named Wasabi, and a removal of a ban. Enlighten me? -Tha Reckoning 04:29, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
The person was named Lena, I believe. -Tha Reckoning 04:30, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I've only heard bits and pieces about it. Apparently Wasabi had a ban lifted during a double faction weekend, and people considered it "favoritism." That's all I know. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 04:34, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I've been seeing more and more of things like that, lately. It's been two months since my botting ban. I may have been new to botting, but taking a look at Macro Express and it's capabilities and other programs like that spurred my comment up there. -Tha Reckoning 04:36, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I still believe that anything beyond an emote macro should be illegal, and to avoid any kind of confusion, all macros should be illegal, end of story. Want to use macros? Go play WoW, they're a grind game, nobody cares about skill there. I also disagree with how Gaile responded dividing PvE and PvP, she basically gave a free pass to use borderline-bot macros in PvE, gogo farmers. But whatever, I mostly just watch this stuff unfold. Getting too involved doesn't seem like a good idea. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 04:43, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Not really, I'm foreign. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 04:51, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Macros are very simple to eliminate, I have my own crackpot theory as to why Anet keeps them around. I believe Anet could be rid of botters anytime they wanted, I think they just keep them around cause it fuels their revenue. Botter gets banned, botter buys new account, Anet makes money. Shower, rinse, and repeat. Botting could be useless anytime Anet wanted it to. -Tha Reckoning 04:53, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Maximum HP[edit]

I'm posting this here because I'm not allowed to post on Joe's page. Before ranger spirits were nerfed nearly 4 years ago, people were able to stack fertile seasons and symbioses as long as they were alive, and sometimes your health could go far above 17,000. If Anet uses shorts for keeping track of health, the max health you could have is probably 32,767. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 00:05, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Cool, I didn't know that. My only argument against your number is that some bosses have more than that (at least it sure seems that way), but maybe that is the true max of any HP bar. O_o We'll see what Joe says, I guess. Do you think I can quote what you said above about 32,767 on his page, if he doesn't reply or doesn't know? User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 00:10, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah. The number is probably at 32,767 for players because players can have negative health. I don't think bosses can have negative health (they just die), so their max might be the max value of an unsigned short, which is 65,535. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 00:16, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Armor images[edit]

You need to make them all the same size. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 12:11, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

200x600 - 240x600 etc..... -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 12:17, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
You should also turn of the shadows when you screenshot :D (just a tip, not a requirement) -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 12:22, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
That is my only gallery that is not the same size because of the skirt, feel free to add some "sides" to the skinny ones to even them out if it bothers you, I don't have the originals anymore. I shot all of these a long time ago for GuildWiki, so I'm not going to reshoot them without shadows. Is there a way to size images by height and not by width? E.g. on GuildWiki it's using "x150px." User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 12:24, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Sure, but that's not the way we do it here. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 12:25, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Would you prefer I stop? And "Sure" what? There's a way to align height? Or you will widen them? Or what? User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 12:29, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Wyn, I believe we discussed this ingame before. The images are of excellent quality, and there is no need to go OCD about then just because they are not all exactly the same size across the board and don't exactly fit your preferences of how they should look - they are the same size within a gallery and that's what matters. What was it... something along the lines of don't complain and do it yourself, what I uploaded is better than what was there before? If this really is such a big deal, then bring it up for policy discussion. Jennalee 12:52, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

The Ukraine (continued)[edit]

I fear I might have misled you. None of the peeps I have met who routinely refer to the The Ukraine lived in the Soviet Union (or, if they did, it was only briefly). They are all folks who fled imperialist/czarist Russia or (more likely in my world), 2nd or 3rd or 4th generation of those who left. Some of the immigrants spoke Ukranian primarily, but others were gypsies (Romany), Jews (Yiddish), Russians (natch, Russian), and so on. I don't remember if some used the while others didn't.

I don't know why they have used that turn of phrase. I always thought it had something to do with the usual confusion with the definitive article that some have when switching languages: in many languages, there are colloquial phrases that would, word-for-word, translate to, "Rose is having a conversation with the TEF or Fred is from the America.

Anyhow, my point is that the use of The Ukraine to refer to that nation predates the use of The USSR or The Russian Federation. It also predates me (and I imagine you and most of the people reading this wiki).

However, never mind that! I missed the key point: you are cleared for takeoff! Gz! As I said on the original wiki, I am looking forward to your submission. Good luck!   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:13, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Hehe. :P Well, I'm glad I was cleared, but infortunately I'm having trouble finding what I need here, no Hobby Lobbies or Home Depots in Ukraine. ^_^ I'll see what I can do, but this may not happen now. :/
About the "the" thing, that link that I added to Gaile's page kind of supports some of what I've seen. People that I meet who do not speak English well, especially from Eastern Europe, tend to overuse "the" in everything they say. The reason is that there is no such thing as an article in Slavic languages, and when these people only start learning English (especially at an older age, not in school), they have trouble figuring out when to use or not to use it. My stepdad is a prime example of that and says "the" all over the place. I've given up on trying to teach him. :P User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 14:39, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
So anyway, it didn't happen. With the stuff I was able to find, I realized that my finished project would only be a shadow of the idea I originally had, so I didn't bother. Maybe I'll throw something together for next Halloween, when I have more time to gather the stuff I need for it. If anyone is really curious, I can tell them what it was going to be, but no going and stealing ideas here. :P Then again, I'd go for something infinitely better for next one, anyway. XD It might even work now that I have a whole year for it, since it's not easy to find spray paint in rural Ukraine... :/ User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 19:04, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Rats! (Maybe Home Despot and Tahrzhay will finally manage to open some stores in *cough* Ukrainia.)
Meanwhile, I'll resign myself to another year without an RoK entry.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:21, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
It's Ukrayina. And I just need to get out of town to get it, I don't think they sell it in Sokal. :P The only downside of my "new" idea is that I won't be able to take it back to the States with me. But hey, I have a whole year to think about it now, as long as Anet does another contest. I'm not worried, as I don't see GW2 coming out by then, and Anet has to keep doing stuff for GW1 at least until 2 is out. ^_^ (Was "Despot" intended or an accident? :P That was funny either way.) User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 19:36, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
It took China growing in importance as an economic power before Peking became Beijing, so it might be a while before the former Soviet Republics can get us norteamericanos to start pronouncing and/or spelling things correctly.
And, of course, the Home Despot imposes particular tools and materials on the proletariat at standardized prices, the lines are always bad, and the quality is (for the US anyhow) relatively low. So, what else should it be called? ;-)   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:12, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
But "Ukrainia" doesn't sound right in any language I know, maybe you were thinking "Ukraina" (Russian pronunciation). :P And we damned ex-commies still call it "Pekin." User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 16:18, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I don't have time for that right now. I just think that if you want to right-align the materials, do it for all of them, not just the totals. Other than that I like the proposed layout. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 16:28, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
What do you think of the changes of warrior so far? User:Ariyen/Sandbox/Warrior -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 00:44, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
You stopped aligning things to the right? And there's an error in Ascalon crafring. So far it doesn't look very different from the current layouts, as far as I can tell, but that's a good way to get everything uniform and caught up. I did the same thing with all the necro armor crafting on GuildWiki http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/User:RoseOfKali/Necromancer_armor_crafting_quick_references, but I also used inclusions, so that only one copy needed to be changed to update all the instances of it. I did align all the mats to the right. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 00:54, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh ya, my bad, you are aligning things to the right, looks somewhat confusing when I track through diffs. :P I would still like to keep the bold font on max armor numbers, but looks good otherwise. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 01:04, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
I am aligning to the right. I'll see what I can do about the max armor. Originals are Originals that I have done as like Tyria (Original) -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 01:11, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Opinion[edit]

I'm working on the monk, but I see material separate for the head and body. I was wondering what you thought of this -> [2]

Needs some work: Dragon (recall the warrior Gladiator issue with headgear), Canthan (last totals 2x2 instead of 4x1), Kurzick and Luxon (vertical order for ink/parchment instead of horizontal in headgear and totals), Istani (last totals like Canthan), Sunspear missing, the other missing ones TBD. I do not aggree with you. i think your wrong. i think every point you tried to make is either Wrong or invalid. Well, thank you, but you got my reason wrong. These kinds of discussions can go on forever, and it's not that I was unable to rebuttle, but that I chose to stop because Regina's page doesn't need another flamewar on farming vs. not (this horse has died, rotted, and the bones carried away by coyotes, nothing left to beat), and I find it futile to continue discussions where neither side can convince the other. It's like the bible or political wars in GToB. ;) Agree to disagree, I guess. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 15:12, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

"Clearly says so somewhere"... kind of like on the page he linked? Not only did he allude to the bug in his post, he linked to the page where the bug is pretty clearly noted. He wasn't asking you to discern some veiled meaning, he was asking you to click a link and read the page- not very hard. He wasn't waving his arms around screaming fire over there, he basically gave you the latitude and longitude and you missed it. – Emmett 18:32, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

That tiny little thing after scrolling for two screens-worth? Regina was supposed to see that? That wasn't lattitude and longitude, it was "over there." */points* Considering raging over me not seeing it is the same as raging for Regina not seeing it, she's CR, not a skill balancer. "Implying" that there's a problem with a skill is not helping her at all. Asking "How so?" is no grounds for raging over it. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 20:19, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Allow me to explain[edit]

Both what you and Wuhy have said is fairly full of fallacy, but I don't see any point in trying to explain that to him. You were basically trying to dismiss Wuhy's points on the basis that you don't really care about the information that he would like to see released. The issue of shattered promises and broken dreams aside, there are at least three people (four once I threw my hat into the ring) that are very interested in learning about game mechanics in that thread already, so to dismiss them on the basis that "Some of the things that GW1 is particularly famous for are the graphics and storytelling" seems pretty unfounded. I would argue that the thing GW is most famous for is being a commercial MMORPG with no monthly fee, but I don't have any market research at my fingertips and that actually has no bearing on whether or not people would like some more information about game mechanics. Demanding it however is pretty foolish. Misery 16:11, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

The fallacy is that the two sides are not mutually exclusive, there is no extreme here, as some try to make it out to be. But what bugs me is the downright hostile "give it to me now or else" attitude and the "all or nothing" theme. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 16:17, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
But you were implying that GW having a good storyline and graphics had something to do with Wuhy wanting to know about the game mechanics, which would only be true if there was some kind of mutual exclusivity, which I pretty much pointed out does not exist. You both are interested in different things. That was my point in its entirety. The entire thread has exploded and part of the reason in your insistence on defending Arenanet at every turn, as SirBoss just pointed out. The core of your point has been made, you are wasting your breath, everyone else in that thread is also wasting their breath. I hope I'm not wasting mine here. Misery 16:23, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
If I may add, you're arguing apples and oranges here. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 16:29, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
