gosu

i don't know japanese, but is gosujin really a popular term used in gaming there? i ask b/c i've never heard of the term gosu as coming from japan. if u played sc/bw back in the day, gosu was universally understood to come from korea. anet having its roots in blizzard, i'd assume they intended the reference to be to sc/bw. i tried the transliteration "gosujin" in 2 japanese to english dictionaries and didn't come up w/ anything. the wiki article mentions jouzu as the equivalent of gosu in japanese. just checking. --VVong|BA 18:53, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

The normal code {{ #vardefine: varname | value }} is executed always, regardless on if it is inside of conditional parser extensions or something else. Using the two templates you can put it inside of conditionals and it will only be parsed when the condition results in that. So in your example above without the templates, you will always have Var1=5 and Var2=5; with the templates you will have Var1=5 if something is not empty and Var2=5 if something is empty. poke | talk 12:29, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

it saves quite some work in my User:y0 ich halt/Templates/AllTitles. used for the maxed titles rank. doesn't quite work, though. with the {{setvar}} it won't actually set the variable on the page where it is included (but only display text), and if i use the #vardefine, it will once again not listen to parser functions. of course, i could work around it on my page, but it's better if the template itself doesn't react like that. - Y0_ich_halt 12:44, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
