New Skills[edit]
Are these unimplemented skills or random effects found in gw.dat? --JonTheMon 14:18, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Unimplemented skills most likely --Zora 14:19, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your work, Zora, btw. Backsword 00:34, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Wow[edit]
The list of landmarks in the Realm of Torment is growing bigger and bigger ^^ (How do you get all this information?? =D) Cyan Light Talk 14:37, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- From the gw.dat, more info here --Zora 15:11, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

your renders[edit]
Nice work. You don't need to be afraid from uploading them in the mainspace. ;) Just upload this as a new file for the current Image:Juggernaut.jpg, or this for the current Image:Siege Turtle.jpg, they're better than those currently used. —ZerphaThe Improver 19:21, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- How does one go about obtaining such high quality renders? Do you extract them from the dat file or is it just well-clipped screen-shots?- TheRave 14:07, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- I use 3D Ripper DX to extract the models and render them with 3ds max. You may be able to do the same by extracting from gwdat but the sheer number of unorganized files will probably make it a daunting task. Another way is to use texmod and replace the background with a white texture. --Zora 09:31, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you. I'm downloading 3DRipperDX and maya now.- TheRave 11:35, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't suppose you could make a render (or at least some kind of finished 3ds Max project) of my character if I provide you with the rips? ^^; I tried to do it myself, but 3ds Max is just too complicated for me. My trial would end sooner then I would figure out how to make it look reasonably well :/ — Poki#3 23:39, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Should be fine if you have some way of passing me the rips. For characters it is better to rip from the character selection screen as sometimes the rip may be incomplete depending on the field of view. --Zora 00:17, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- I was kind of hoping for a nice pose and some weapons in hand, but I don't want to inconvenience you. Thanks. I'll make a rip tomorrow, rar it, upload and I'll post you a link. Any specific options you want me to check in the Ripper? — Poki#3 02:33, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- Quite a number of weapons are drawn with the aid of directx shaders so they can't be rendered correctly in 3ds max. The default option should be fine although you may want to change the output directory to some generic folder (like c:\rip) as the texture paths are embedded inside the rip. --Zora 11:38, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

ZOMG I want to be able to do this soooooo bad. Any way you could make a tut on it? i downloaded 3DRipperDX and installed it, but it doesnt seem to work. Lemme know! DarkMugen 01:29, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- The 3D Ripper website has a Step by Step Guide. --Zora 10:24, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

- Try updating DirectX and the graphic drivers. Also, try running fullscreen. — Poki#3 (talk) 12:32, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- It's not working... Q.Q If i were to meet you in-game would you be able to get the model and do it for me? DarkMugen 14:31, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- Non-login screen dumps ofter turn out bad :/ — Poki#3 (talk) 22:17, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- I've seen yours. they dont turn out that bad. I'd appreciate them none-the-less DarkMugen 02:54, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- GW does quite a bit of optimization/culling to other player characters so I don't think that is a good option. 3D Ripper DX also don't work that well for me(missing polygons/textures here and there) after I moved to Vista 64bit. --Zora 01:36, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

User:Zora/Gwdat[edit]
You seem to know how to read the gw.dat file. I already tried to find a guide what i have to do in order to be able to do so. There are a bunch of gw.dat threads on Guru and GW-Online, though i didn't find an answer yet. You seemingly have to do something with a hex-editor. Is it complicated, or would you by any chance feel like explaining it to me? —ZerphaThe Improver 20:59, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- I use the GWDatBrowser from here to read it. Extract and run the GWDatbrowser.exe. Should be fairly simple to figure out. It shows a list of all the sub-files inside the gw.dat with the ability to preview and extract any of them. The text strings are found in files classified as unknown --Zora 10:02, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, i already crossed this forum and the accordant wiki, though i didn't find the thread containing a download link to the GWDatBrowser. Unfortunately, this version doesn't work for me ("Error While opening "":[...]") :/ And the readme also couldn't help as i have no idea about coding. ("If your application is in a language other than the operating system's locale, you will also have to redistribute the corresponding localized resources MFC80XXX.DLL.") yay... ^^' Thanks, though. I'll have to continue using my old GWDatBrowser that is unable to read the text files. —ZerphaThe Improver 15:33, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Legalities[edit]
Pictures made in an external program, such as maya or 3dsmax, must have the {{arenanet image}} tag rather than the {{screenshot}} one. Backsword 11:15, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think that is correct. {{arenanet image}} is meant for renders/images from arenanet staff and official website. Other images obtained from the game should use {{screenshot}}. --Zora 11:16, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- In this case Backsword is correct. The image does not have to be directly created by an ArenaNet employee, it only has to be of an ArenaNet resource (such as a model/texture). {{screenshot}} is for things that were actually taken straight from game-play screenshots. (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 15:23, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- In that case the Guild Wars Wiki:Image use should be updated to reflect this. --Zora 22:22, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- Great work on the renders ^^ I had to replace the screenshot tag on User Zora Varesh Ossa Render.jpg and User Zora Kehanni Render.jpg with the anet tag. Fall 16:39, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Screenshot[edit]
Thanks for working in a reasonble and mature way, sometime a problem on the wiki. Actually providing evidence is the logical thing to do for a claim. However, one screenshot is not enough since the underlying claim is that there is no exception, so another three would be needed to provide a solid case. (Tho' you don't have to do that, and if you do, you can skip the last two since they're not contested). Backsword 08:41, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Monk gifs[edit]
Nice animations, though they're quite flashing^^ Idk which program you used to create them, but maybe you should give each frame a longer duration, and the last one possibly a little break, then they are not that irritating :P —ZerphaThe Improver 14:13, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- much better now :D —ZerphaThe Improver 11:22, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Burning Speed Concise Description[edit]
Read the whole thing, does it REALLY say 5 seconds TWICE? Misery 15:04, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- This is easily verifiable in-game. Just login guild wars and check yourself. --Zora 15:09, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, except I can't. Otherwise I wouldn't be asking. See there was no edit summary for your reversion, so I don't really know if you are just ignoring me or if it does in fact occur twice. Misery 15:12, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- zora is right, don't revert again. --Cancer Angel 15:15, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Image tagging[edit]
Hey there! Remember to tag your images when you upload them. I just tagged all those Book images with {{ArenaNet image}}, so just remember to tag properly, thanks! --Antioch 04:57, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
Skill description changes[edit]
Did they go and change a whole lot of in game skill descriptions without telling anyone? Misery 11:50, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes they did. I got them by doing a diff of gw.dat. --Zora 11:53, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Nice work. Wish they would be a little more open about some of these things, if only for documentations sake. Misery 11:54, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Image revert.[edit]
Please do not revert 'File:Nicholas_the_Traveler_20090525.jpg'. Showing 'all the map' and all the collectors for an area does not mean "better quality". Personally, I feel the one with no map explored is better as it only depicts the path to Nicholas and nothing else. Thank you for your understanding. -Lena talk 02:56, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Skill Icons[edit]
Hey Zora :D When you upload skill icons, can you tage them with {{ArenaNet image|skill icon}}? That will properly categorize them not just as ArenaNet images, but as skill icons specifically :D Thanks! -- Wyn 11:23, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Bladeturn refrain[edit]
Thanks for fixing that image ish in slashing damage... I had no idea where to start... MrPaladin talk 15:04, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. Some PvP-version skill images are missing because people linked the skill to the PvE-version images instead of uploading a properly named one. --Zora 16:10, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Signet of Spirits[edit]
The damage on the Signet of Spirits page (5...27...32) doesn't match the damage on the skill page that you linked (5...25...30). Not sure if you were going to be changing that (or even which was correct), so I didn't want to touch it. --Freedom Bound 19:20, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- Fixed. Thanks for the notice. --Zora 19:26, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
GWW:1RR[edit]
Your breaking it. DrogoBoffin 05:51, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- It is a skill description that can be verified in-game. If someone wishes to stick with the wrong one, so be it. --Zora 05:57, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
