Background[edit]

Maha never learned much about her father, except that he was in a land far to the north, known as Tyria. Apparently he and Maha's mother didn't depart on the best of terms and since he was a Krytan noble, Maha's mother was in no position to argue. She fled back to her home nation of Kourna while Maha was only a newborn and settled down to the simple life of a herder. Maha grew up in her home village of Ronjok for several years, not knowing much about the outside world. A girl of similar age, called Melonni served as her inspiration to become more pious and she soon committed her life to the worship of Dwayna.

On Maha's eighteenth birthday, her mother gave her a pendant. With the giving of the pendant she finally revealed to her that she actually had a long lost brother, who also had an identical pendant, and was probably out there somewhere in the world, fighting evil, just like Maha's grandfather did. Maha's mother explained that she didn't tell Maha sooner out of fear of her returning to Kryta to look for him. Her father vowed that he would murder Maha and her mother if they were ever spotted in Kryta again and Maha's mother was not keen on testing his patience! As Maha's mother dreaded, Maha decided she would find her long lost brother although she promised her mother that she would go prepared. She would learn the art of wielding a scythe and training as a Dervish, a holy warrior. With these skills she would be better prepared to defend herself. The Sunspears seemed like a good place to start since they were offering training for dervishes plus they promised free passage to its members across Elona and beyond. This seems to good an opportunity to pass up in the search for her long lost brother and consequently she eagerly applied and would soon become one of the most promising students of the order.
