[edit] About Me

Hello, my real name is Kris, and I'd like to say thank you for coming down to check out my page. I have been playing Guild Wars for about two years, with my first character being a Monk. After a little while I obtained Guild Wars: Factions, where I learned more about the ways of the Assassin. When I started to have problems, I came here. I was so charmed by the regulars, that I decided to try to help this community.

[edit] On the Wiki

Though I have only been on the wiki for a short time, I have been playing Guild Wars Prophecies and (to a slightly lesser extent) Factions for a little over a year now. I first came into contact with Guild Wars Official Wiki though the Help Menu accessed by F10 in one of the updates. As I gazed down the list, I discovered links to my Guild page, Protectors Of Tyria Kingdom [PTK]. I decided, why not, and signed up for the account. I had used the wiki before, I thought, why not give back? So I created the page, and ran into several people telling me that's not the way we do things around here. I didn't know at the time that capitalization counted, that images had a way to be name and many other things. Though, my first ever edit was on Bergen Hot Springs, and a meager one at that. I call the creation of PTK's page my first true edit. I hope that maybe I can help others, like they have helped me throughout Guild Wars and the Wiki.

I tend to make patrols of the recent changes, and (ironically enough) patrol new images to make sure they are tagged right. I'd like to think my work on the wiki here makes a big difference, and I really enjoy my time here. Cool things have been happening here, and I'm quite happy with how things are turning out!

Currently, I'm trying to learn advanced wikicode, the basics of html and the like so I can better myself here.

On some other wikis I am also trying to write policies and new

[edit] The First Time

[edit] Monking!

It was quite difficult learning this game. With terminology to learn (HA, GvG, AoE, WoH etc..), made it almost like a second language. I first created my Monk with the Secondary profession of an Elementalist because I wanted to dish out the damage along with using Healing Prayers to help my allies. That

was a mistake, because I didn't have enough Energy to go around. I learned as a Monk that Energy management is vital to success to avoid a wipe. In time, I learned several other things about the other classes the hard way (Mesmers dealing in Energy denial, man was that a pain). Now, I'm fairly experienced in the skills of Prophecies and Factions, but have yet to really try out Nightfall and Eye of the North skills besides the ones I have seen in demos.

[edit] PvE

It's a place where everyone wants you. I like the great power of being a Monk, but it comes with great responsibility. Your team depends on you to survive, and being a frail monk, you depend on them to keep you alive. This can be difficult as people tend to become healing sink for your energy. As most people start out, they make Full Heal monks, which are okay for short run. Though the essence of being a monk is being able to protect that damage from occurring in the first place. Hybrid monks are in high demand in PvE as well in PvP.

[edit] PvP

It's a place where everyone wants you... Dead. Energy management is key! Using skills like Glyph of Lesser Energy in the Elementalist's Energy Storage line helps you keep the energy cost down. Also, try to master Energy hiding. This is achieved by using negative energy items (such as the Brawn over Brains Inscription). Keep to the backline, and try to kite any kind of damage you can. Keep an eye on your party's Health while keeping an eye on your Energy. It is also nice to keep a negative energy set which gives you more energy at the cost of Energy regeneration pips. Also, people tend to use high health runes. It is not uncommon to see a Monk with over 500 HP, and Energy coming close to 60. Monks some times carry shields, to give a small supplement to their Armor rating.

[edit] Sinning!

The Assassin was a new breed of character for me, though I do not remember exactly why it intrigued me. Their skills seemed cool as lead attacks came to off-hand attacks and dual attacks for devastating damage. I often died as I was not used to being on the attacking side. I often overextended and died out-of-range of our Monks. Though I have a particular satisfaction taking down soft targets like Mesmers, other Monks, and Elementalists especially. Though, I like to farm ectos at Tomb of the Primeval Kings.

[edit] At Range!

I haven't played my Ranger in ages, but I plan to soon. I liked the idea of Pets attacking enemies, but I never got well into it. I however, LOVE interrupting attacks, spells and skills.
