I know it's a few days late (damn you, real life), but thanks so much for the link to the forums (I've been meaning to thank Shard too, but life just got in the way, :P)! I much prefer your forums to the Vault, far more welcoming and there's no, "I haet u so ur mod gets a 1," stuff. Elysea User Elysea ElyseaSignatureImage.jpg 18:13, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Your userpage[edit]

"|-" is your line breaking character, so the above would produce a 2x2 grid. Knock yourself out. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 20:04, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

The problem with rows of userboxes - and no one ever seems to think of this any more than they remember to put clear tags after the boxes - is that a fixed number of fixed width userboxes has a fixed total width. This total width often exceeds the width of the viewer's resolution. More than three wide tends to break on a number of monitors (assuming average monitor resolution is 1024x768). You have five wide, which on 1280x1024 arranges your boxes something like so:

box box box box
               box
box box box box
               box
box box box box
          box

The boxes wrap around right-aligned when they exceed the screen's width. I have no idea why the last one is shoved over, though.

tl;dr either put your boxes in rows of three or in a column. :<

...with further large rants and walls of text that don't directly pertain to the topic at hand, let me get one thing strait. Are you honestly arguing for the removal of henchmen all together? — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 23:41, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

I would prefer the main henchmen to just be switched over. It would fit better, at least imo. Personally, I'd much rather be able to customize my 8 man party with builds I want then deal with pre-set ones. So, probably yes...at least past the initial lower levels of the game.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 23:43, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

I just hate having to choose from the pot of garbage henchmen are...new bars or not, their AI is still terrible. The ability to lock targets, control how agressive they are or aren't in battle, utilizing actual hard res skills on everyone, customizing their bars to run what I need...and believe me, there are times when I wished I could have a 4th slot to run a mesmer for certain areas, when I had to choose a healer hero instead. Just convert the main characters over and delete the others past early game areas.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 23:52, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Who doesn't want better henchmen? But...
"..and delete the others past early game areas."
How would removing said henchmen better the game? What would you stand to gain by removing them? How is their presence a detriment to players? Some people relay on those henchmen that you want removed from the game. Do you really want to deprive them of a method of playing the game? Does said players using said henchmen affect you in any way?
It's easy to see how being able to run 7 heros would be beneficial, but how would removing the craptacular henchmen be? — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 23:59, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Ty for moving your offtopic discussion --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 00:01, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Also, I'm sure you're going to say something along the lines of: "But they could just buy Nightfall and/or Eye of the North."
Two words for forcing your customers into a situation like that: Dick move. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 00:04, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Dude that is EXACTLY what anet does to you if you want to PvP. If you don't own Nightfall or Factions, good fucking luck getting into a group. Anet is the king of as you put it, "dick moves" --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 00:08, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
I've never reccomended this game to a friend after NF came out, so I wouldn't suggest that now. Anyway, I see removing henchmen as a way of saving server space and code space...as a clean up really...so they could up the hero limit to 7. The fact that Cynn, Mhenlo and gang are part of the storyline, I would just convert them (and their models are cool). Using said henchmen does affect me because I hate them...playing with them is extremely annoying, and the fact that I have 3 I can control and customize makes dealing with the ones I can't even more frustrating.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 00:12, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
So are you saying make the henchmen controllable like heroes? --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 00:13, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Whatever is easier. Its pointless to have both if you can do a 7 hero party. Like one person said on Linsle's page, no one would use them if they had the choice. Anet isn't going to be silly and not give easier access to heroes as a compensation. Like in NF if you're Tyrian, Koss & friends are chillin' outside Kamadan waiting for you.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 00:17, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
"Dude that is EXACTLY what anet does to you if you want to PvP."
Umm, last I checked, you can still PvP regardless of what campaigns you own.
"If you don't own Nightfall or Factions, good fucking luck getting into a group."
Talk to the community about that. ArenaNet does not have control over the community, how they pick groups and their mentality while doing so.
"Anyway, I see removing henchmen as a way of saving server space and code space...as a clean up really..."
I could probably off-balance that saved server space with one account. Hardly worth the time it would take to remove them.
"The fact that Cynn, Mhenlo and gang are part of the storyline, I would just convert them (and their models are cool)."
Cool, I'm all for that.
"Using said henchmen does affect me because I hate them...playing with them is extremely annoying..."
I said how does OTHER PEOPLE using them affect you? — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 00:19, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Anyway, back on topic, the point is, with 7 heroes no one will use the henchmen. Its like using a computer from 1998...yeah they're out there, but given the means and the choice, you won't pick that compared to something better. As for other people...sod them, I only care about myself (and Simon Le Bon of course), and as I see it, henchmen suck. Most people agree that they suck, that they are useless, and most would prefer the hero system.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* 00:38, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Now, where were we? Ah yes, henchmen.
Which would you say is worse, leaving an option that only a few take advantage of, or removing an option that's the only means of game-play for a somewhat small group? This is under the assumption that the use of the option in question has no negative effects on those that choose otherwise. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 01:10, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

PvP[edit]

"Umm, last I checked, you can still PvP regardless of what campaigns you own." Oh thats right, RA counts as PvP. --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 00:26, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

"Talk to the community about that. ArenaNet does not have control over the community, how they pick groups and their mentality while doing so." They absolutely have control over the community. If they make rit skills overpowered as fuck, and you don't have a rit cuz u dont own Factions, you're screwed. When they released Factions in the start, all the sin and rit skills were OP to have the PvP community buy the game, and then once they did, other people couldnt get in groups. --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 00:28, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Aside from getting a group, what physically keeps you from entering a HA and/or GvG match if you don't own Factions, or Nightfall? Independent of how well your group does.
What they do affects the community, but they can't directly control it. There is a huge difference there. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 00:30, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
What if my friends want me to do JQ? FA? AB? (formerly HB)? --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 00:32, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
That's a campaign specific format. What if my friends want me to enter the Shing Shea arena with them? What about the Sunspear Arena? What about Ascalon Arena? What if my friends want me to Kill Shiro with them, or do the ring of fire, or do Gates of Desolation with them? GvG and HA are NOT campaign specific formats that you are supposed to be able to access regardless of what campaign(s) you own.
Also, you've just commited one of the biggest fallacies of an argument. Stop begging the question. Answer mine.

You don't pvp Jon, so getting into that discussion is pointless. But I will say that not owning all the campaigns or the skill unlocks puts you at a huge disadvantage in pvp. Anyway, back on topic, the point is, with 7 heroes no one will use the henchmen. What's stopping them from clicking the little button that says "Guild Battle"? — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 00:55, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
^^<3 Pika. PvP usually requires the player to play with and against other players--hence the name "pvp". These teams usually set up a build utilize both the primary and sometimes secondary classes and are made up of 4 or 8 players. That being said, not having access to the skills needed to run these builds will hender people from playing, or will put they at the disadvantage where they cannot play in almost 90% or more of teams. There is nothing keeping them from entering these arenas...but they will not have access to all the skils as both a counter to a build or defense from certain skills or situations. Does this answer your question?--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 00:58, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
"There is nothing keeping them from entering these arenas...but they will not have access to all the skils as both a counter to a build or defense from certain skills or situations."
Exactly. Now, would you kindly hammer this into Adrin's head since you are closer to him than me? — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 01:01, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Bottom line: Not owning all the campaigns DOES NOT KEEP YOU FROM PVPING. It may put you at a disadvantage, but it does not prevent you from PvPing. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 01:03, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Hi. Stop talking about PvP when you haven't the first clue about it. Your point is stupid - PvP all but requires every expansion because of power creep. You might as well not bother hitting the enter battle button at all, because if you do, you're just wasting time and feeding the other team free wins.
Yasmin's "you don't PvP" comment is actually right on the money. You're trying to make a point without having the least bit of understanding here, and it makes you look like a huge idiot. So just stop trying. -Auron 01:09, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
"There is nothing keeping them from entering these arenas...but they will not have access to all the skils as both a counter to a build or defense from certain skills or situations."
Read that again Auron. SUCCESSFUL PvP may practically require all campaigns, but the sheer act of PvPing does not. Bottom line: you do not have to own all the campaigns to PvP. That's what this argument is about, NOT how successful you will be given the lack-there-of. I repeat, this is strickly about whether or not you CAN, not how successful you will be. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 01:15, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Keep your sadomasochism to yourself. People play to win and have fun, and not go GvG only to be trashed by some shitter guild because you don't have power creeped skills. Arguing because you "can" even though it's not "practical" to do so just highlights on how far away from reality you are. It's like arguing that you don't need to be special to enter the special olympics; yes, you don't have to be "special" but really now. Pika Fan 01:23, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
"That's what this argument is about, NOT how successful you will be given the lack-there-of. I repeat, this is strickly about whether or not you CAN, not how successful you will be."
No, that's what you're talking about because you have never PvP'd on a serious level in your life. You try to argue minutia. The point is you're being dumb. Stop being dumb. Listen to the real PvPers talk about PvP. Don't try to tell them they're wrong, because the only one wrong here is you.
Because you've red herring'd your way all the way to this point, let me bring you back to reality with the original quote. "If you don't own Nightfall or Factions, good fucking luck getting into a group." This is the truth. None of your offtopic bullshit refutes this point, because it is the truth. The only way you can win this is by trying to stick to an argument that is, in itself, bullshit. Just stop. You're fooling nobody. You haven't the first fucking clue and you've just idioted your way through this entire discussion, showing your true colors along the way. Save yourself some face and stop trying to defend that idiocy. -Auron 01:35, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

What a waste of walls of text, let me quote "Bottom line: Not owning all the campaigns DOES NOT KEEP YOU FROM PVPING. It may put you at a disadvantage, but it does not prevent you from PvPing. — Jon Lupen"
Now my turn, Bottom line: Not having access to heroes or henchmen DOES NOT KEEP YOU FROM PVEING. It may put you at a disadvantage, but it does not prevent you from entering missions. Sure, it would be hard to PvE without friends, it's hard to PvP without friends. You are having the same argument twice standing on opposite sides Jon. I don't know why anyone even bothered to respond. I don't really care what you have to say in response, I'm not going to respond. You are applying the same logic and receiving two different results in two different places, so there is no point in discussing with you. For the record, regardless of what happens to heroes, I wouldn't see a need to remove henchmen, but that discussion doesn't even belong in this topic. 3D[edit]

Would it be worth seeing Avatar in 3-D? I want to go see this one, it looks Amazing from the previews. I have heard that it was best in 3-D, so I don't know which would be better viewing regular or 3-D. Just wondering your suggestion. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 05:10, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

It's a really good gf movie. Go see it. I saw it in 3D but I really couldn't tell the difference. NuVII User NuclearVII signature 3.jpg 12:16, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Depth perception is much clearer; instead of viewing the world in the movie from the perspective of one viewing the screen, with 3D, you view the movie as a 3rd party within the movie world itself. Pika Fan 12:23, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
JC even made special cameras for the 3D purpose. It really should be seen that way, it becomes more intense. I'd give it a 10/10...I liked it more than Titanic, but not more than T1/2 but that's just because those 2 have such a special place in my heart.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 20:03, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
The execution is amazing, but the storyline fails. A direct ripoff from a certain other science fiction cult classic. NuVII User NuclearVII signature 3.jpg 20:04, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Actually, it was very similar to "Dances with Wolves". But very few films are original..."Bridget Jones" was "Pride and Prejudice", "Twilight:New Moon" is a half-assed attempt at "Wuthering Heights", even the first "Twilight" is just the basic "Romeo & Juliet" story only its one is human, one is vampire instead of family ties. There is no such thing as originality in its pure form.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 00:45, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

There is a difference between "Original", "Inspired by" and "complete ripoff". People usually can tell the difference. FYI, both Pride and Prejudice and Twilight were originally books (bad ones, but whateva) NuVII User NuclearVII signature 3.jpg 15:23, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
What was the "rip-off" Exactly? You haven't given an actual fact or comparison to your view. And Pride and Prejudice is an amazing book---but then, you're male, I don't expect you to read much.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 16:15, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Well, okay, let me provide a better analysis. In fact, I would very much like to make a chart here, only if I could.
Avatar: The entire thing is set on a planet humans have colonized to harvest a mysterious (but very valuable) unobtanium. The planet is inhabited by an indigenous people, primitve but quite fierce in their traditions and belief. The planet is poplulated by villages spread accross the forests and jungle.
Cult Classic: The entire thing is set (at least the original book) on a planet humans have colonized to harvest a mysterious Spice, which is very valuable. The planet is a desert, completely inhospitable to humans, but they managed to establish one town. The planet has a native people, whom do not view outsiders as friends, and are quite savage and powerful in their own way. The planet is populated by villages and establishments that are spread out on the vast empty desert plains.
Avatar: Our protagonist "acts like a child" around the natives, and is frequently chided for being this way, and the plot revolves around the his quest for maturity and understanding. He befriends the natives, proclaimed as the "Toruk Macto" and leads them to victory against the eeevviiil harvesting company. He then decides to stay and presumably rules over them, with his native wife.
Cult Classic: Our protagonist is a child who has difficulty understanding the natives at first, but slowly coming to appreciate their savage yet true ways. The plot revovles around the protagonist, specifically, his quest for understanding and growth. He befriends the natives, marries one, is proclaimed their Muad'ib, and proceeds to liberate the planet from the eeeeevvviilll enemy spice hungry off-worlders. He then stays with the people, separating himself from the humanity he preveiously knew, and rules over the sand people with his wife.
Avatar: The rite of passage of a native Naiv (I think I spelled that right) is the taming of a flying dinosaur like thing (Ikrak something). The rite is dangerous, and the aspirant has a good chance of dying. The mount then becomes a vital part of the community. The native people are in tune with the nature of the planet, listening the to greenery and the trees. They also hold shamanic beliefs about the trees, which the aliens cannot/will not understand.
Cult Classic: the rite of passage for a native is the catching of a sand worm. The process is quite dangerous, and the aspirant stands a good chance of being trampled. The worm is a crucial part of the community's survival. The native people truly understand the working of the desert, whereas the off-worlders can't/won't.
Yup, no parallels there. Also, be kind enough to fill in the name of the book I'm referring to. Being a woman, you must read more than I do. NuVII User NuclearVII signature 3.jpg 17:43, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and PS: I'm only referring to the first book of the series. NuVII User NuclearVII signature 3.jpg 17:43, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
never read the book or viewed the movie but arn't you talking about dune? the flying monster is an ikran btw and they are the na'vi not naiv for those who didn't get that native => na(ti)ve => na'vi :p it is indeed a bit of a rip of but i found the film quite amazing and enormously fun to watch and besides name 5 movies in the past 10 years who where original. that should be hard anyway. And pleaso don't include any fantasy because that's just all about being the chosen one , queestes and destroying the evil lord of the darkness. now nuke let us dance naked in the forest hug trees and call them Eywa. All worship Eywa *tries to tie his hair andthe leaves of a tree* Rhonin Soren 18:29, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
It is a good movie, best I've ever seen in a while. The execution is stellar. I'm just saying the storyline is ripped, and I value storyline quite a bit. NuVII User NuclearVII signature 3.jpg 18:40, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
just read karel ende elegast or any karolingische or arthurian legend and you will recognise the basic storyline of every fantasy story ever brought, a lot of science fiction and a lot of other story's to. Even romeo and Juliet wasn't original but a rip of of older story's that is how things work. Why invent something new when the existing things still pay off? Rhonin Soren 18:50, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
(edit conflict) You're talking about Dune, right? I haven't read the Dune books, but I'm familiar with the story andnthis sounds like it. But TBH, "Braveheart" is similar. "Pocahontas" is similar. "Brave New World" is similar. "Dances With Wolves" is similar. "Logan's Run" is similar (with jungles too). "Ferngully" is similar. But that was Jim's thing...he used to read "At Play in the Fields of the Lord" and "Emerald Forest" as well as the "John Carter" series. He wanted to make a film inspired by and an homage to, those pieces that inspired him to make films. Its a theme called "the Mono Myth"...in the Mono Myth the hero starts in one place as a normal person, but goes on some kind of quest that changes him/her into a hero. It can be culture change like "Avatar" or "Dances With Wolves", being put into a spy type situation like "Avatar" and "Logan's Run" a war like Luke Skywalker's change in "Star Wars", a death--whatever the case. Considering how complex the idea of the film was simple, I had no problem with that.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 19:05, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Also when i saw their connection thing with Eywa and collective memory, I immediatly had to think of Gaia in the Foundation books by Isaav Asimov. wonderfull books and the best SF i've ever read or saw Rhonin Soren 11:11, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Lol. No, my point is, every woman I know, myself included, does certain things. Its just a truth--we hold in things until we pop, we remember everything and use it as ammo in arguments months later after the initial incident, we like to have the last word, we expect our husbands to know what we're thinking. How is that sexist when its true? Every man on here will agree that their wife/girlfriend has done what I mention above. Sexist is if I said every woman needs to be married to matter, that every woman needs a man to validate her, that every woman should be a homemaker and not have a career, that women should make less than men. That is sexist.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 20:09, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

IS it bad that I'm actually finding Nuke amusing recently? I'm not sure if he's got funnier or if my sense of humour has just regressed. As for female stereotypes, not really sure; I know many lassies who don't hold back and let peeps know where they stand but then on the flip side I know fella's who are just repressed balls of rage due to not just letting loose with whatever it is that's pissing them off. However being a big ol' homo myself, I'm probably seeing a different side of the penny from most other guys, but then I'm the guy who gets phone calls at 3:30am in the morning from his straight male friends for relationship/emotional advice, as they can't talk to their female mates as it in some way emasculates them and they can't talk to their straight male mates as they are scared of being laughed at. In short, men are just as crazy as women. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 21:12, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Nuk, now you're making me want to call Chris Hanson as Pedo Bear might be lurking around the corner. You crack me up.
Back on topic...I try not to support anything over another for the very reason that prejudice in favor of one side to stop prejudice is still a prejudice. To quote Ferris Buller, who was quoting John Lennon "I don't believe in 'isms', I just believe in me." Men have as many faults as women--but since I'm not a man, I don't delve too far into it...as human beings in general are very flawed. I'm proud of the fact that, as a woman, I can admit I do these things and I'm ok with recognizing my faults rather than hiding them under the guise of an "ism" or making excuses. Plus, as a woman, its kinda hard to hate them considering I'd be hating myself, which I don't because I'm awesome. Personally, on a profesional and social level, I get more respect from my peers, male and female because I admit I do some of that shit rather than pointing my finger and saying, or QQ'ing "that's sexist." Men seem to prefer to deal with me than other female managers because of that open attitude, and females tend to value my opinion on how to curb it.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 21:22, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
(ec*2) Just as insane? Why, I'd say that's only the best case scenario, seeing as how a good majority of men assume themselves to be saner than the opposite sex. We're the nuts for thinking we aren't nuts. In fact, I blame the nuts. It's probably a bad idea to have critical, emotion driving glands outside of the body, rather than placing them in safe bodily cavities. That, and men are uglier.
I'm getting better Salome, thanks for noticing. If I can entertain one more person on this wiki, I am that much happy. Of course, that isn't the only way to make me happy. I can proudly demonstrate how good I'm getting to be. Thanks! NuVII User NuclearVII signature 3.jpg 21:26, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) X3 @Reckoning unfortunately not, I work 9 til about 7ish most days (yay me), I just tend to get rudely awoken by my drunken mates at daft times of the night. My advice normally is repress less, talk more to their GF. Thus far that has only backfired once, however in my defense I didn't know the full story at that point, as I wouldn't have advised him to go wake up his GF and confess to drunkenly sleeping with her best mate, who just so happened to be called Brian. (that did not go down well).
Back on topic; I think it's good that you can accept all of what it means to be who you are Yasmin. Too many people only like to accept what they see as the positive aspects of who they are. The world would be a whole lot easier place to live in but for that one thing. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 21:31, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Its best to admit as much negative as positive, otherwise you don't balance at the end of the day. I would have advised similar in that friend telling the girl about the affair, but not by waking her up from sleep. Do it over a cup of coffee.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 21:39, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Do the people who like Lady Gaga just ignore what she looks like + pretty much everything she says and does and only listen to the music, or what? Because as far as music goes she is not terrible (and certainly doesn't carry the same guilt as liking, idk, Britney Spears music or w/e), but...ugh. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 01:29, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
I think she's pretty (see my msn pic). I think her songs are awesome. I respect the fact that she writes, produces and performs her own work, that she doesn't lip sync, that she has brought theatre back to entertainment. I've been listening to her album consistently since April. Gaga busted her ass to get where she is, she paid her dues. Yes, she's weird, but so was David Bowie, Ozzy, Jimi Hendrix, Alice Cooper, Peter Murphy--they look crazy on stage, but when they go home, they're normal like everyone else. Keep in mind, she's a performance artist...she supposed to be strange, again, its a fucking act...but you know what, that "act" makes a lot of kids who may not be conventionally pretty or "cool" feel a lot better about themselves--that its ok to be unique, or different, or strange. And as for Britney, I'm not ashamed to say I like her music because I like her producers, her records are so well put together by her handlers--Gaga also songs for Britney Spears, among many artists she has written for prior to Interscope letting her do her own music.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 02:07, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Let me clarify...in California, speaking these 2 languages is crucial, as there is an abundance of people who speak Spanish and Russian and nothing else. Most of them cannot be helped by me or my staff at various sites because we can't communicate with them to rent to them, sign leases, help them fill out their rent payments and so on. They have their small 5 & 6 year old children translate, which in most cases, I can't allow because the translation needs to be made by an adult because we mainly discuss information of a legal matter. I also had many tenants in the bay Armond, who are Asian, but they all speak English, or enough of it, that I have never said "man I wish I spoke Japenese" out of the need to not close a tour.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 01:01, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Armond, weeaboo is cool and all, but from a practical point of view you're almost certainly not going to be an international business tycoon before Asia takes over the world (if it does - go USA, rah rah), therefore it's honestly quite limited use unless you, like, live in Chinatown. Anyway - most Bay Area Asians, of any nationality, either speak (some and/or broken) English or have a younger generation son/daughter/whatever that does...this is because the big Asian immigration wave(s) happened long enough ago that the typical Asian you see on the street today is at least a second generation citizen. (I'm, like, fourth gen and speak no Chinese at all, except for foods.)
On the other hand, because immigration from Mexico etc. is still going on pretty big all the time, the same sort of expectation can't be held for them... there is indeed a fair chance that such a person won't speak English, or at least not well enough to effectively communicate, especially with someone like Yasmin who does not know Spanish. I'm not blaming, though - I chose to study French instead of Spanish (and how much of that do I remember, lol) and it is pretty likely I'll be kicking myself in the future just like you.
Russian is kind of surprising, though, I was not aware that many Russians were in this area... I've never met one anyway. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 01:08, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
I might add that most Japanese (can't speak for Chinese) schools start teaching kids English around fifth or sixth grade or so. As you where. *disappears* — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 01:14, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm back in Sacramento now and we have a huge number of Russian immigrants--particularly in West Sacramento and Yolo County. Ignoring the fucking walls of text : I think evil people turn into politicians and not the other way around. While Chinese and japanese might come in handy I think that if we will all learn some kind of universal language it won't be japanese or chinese. For 2 reasons,1 The chinese and japanese language is alot harder then the english one.The most important reason however is that China and Japan are now taking over, but they haven't taken over.America is still the center of the world to some degree and I think that by the time China becomes the center again most of them will have learned English.Wether they are the rising star or not doesn't matter since they'll most likely have to learn english to get to the top. Also I don't want to be a psychologist because it would make me manipulate people because face it : People are F'in primates. You'd be suprised how easy it is to reach the subconscienceness (that is so written wrong) of people.Another downside is that well there are alot of psychologists already and right now people need engineers.Like really really need them.Like getting a job before you graduate.Lilondra User Lilondra Sig.jpg 06:18, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
It's not actually the difficulty of the language, but rather that there are like 9001 billion different dialects (at least for Chinese...probably somewhat less for a little island like Japan) so standardization is a real bitch. Even the most common dialect, Mandarin, has regional variations... Also, it would be pretty hard for people to get used to a "hieroglyph" type language as opposed to letters. I can also speak from a little experience that as a printer of, say, a newspaper, it is really daunting to force a picture language into a format that was designed for English. (Right to left, or up and down if you are being fancy...) Finally, there's so many phrases and meanings and..."things"... that just cannot be translated from Asian languages. That is a strength and a weakness, but mostly a big conundrum for standardization. (Same for any language really, but it's bit easier with Spanish and French and others...)
Also, the real reason politicians are evil is because Western culture is heavy with populist influences. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 07:01, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

I keep forgetting to look at your site when I get home, but I'll get around to it. It's blocked at work, but I wanted to ask if you are implementing a crafting system? I did some work on the CNR script and it's pretty good and easily customizable. Also, I was DMing on a PW with a guy named Gryphon. He created a script that basically makes each merchant its own auction house. The player puts an item into the stock of a particular merchant, another player buys it, the seller comes back and the merchant has money for him after taking out a "deposit fee". There might be better scripts out there now, but those were some excellent ones back in the day. — Gares 18:28, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
We did decide in the last few weeks to add a crafting and rune system to the module. Shard is toying with it now. We also added a special weapons and armor upgrade NPC for players who like a particular "look" to their armor and do not want to part with it for better stats, but can add various stats to the armor so it can "grow with them". Obviously, this particular NPC's services will be expensive, but worthwile to some. We also have a stylist to change your face and hair, resting zones, player housing, 2 transport systems (similar to Diablo 2), mounts, an auction house and a Kenye West makes a cameo (as Kenye East) as our main city's town crier.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 17:02, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Never happened to me.--♥User Oneshot O.JPGneshot 08:29, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
Probably because I only have 1x512 + 1x256 mbytes of memory. Another interesting fact about this lag is that the game itself progresses normally, only the non-visual actions are late. Also it lets you bypass the spells' recharge, because before the spell's effect takes place, the recharge doesn't begin. --Boro 10px‎ 16:00, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
More than likely whats happening is you are experiencing the games memory leak. The game essentially snowballs memory usage and the longer you play the more ram its using. Next time it happens try resetting the game and see if that helps.--Venture User Ventured sig.png 17:30, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
