Walkthrough[edit]

Footman Tate[edit]

To get to Footman Tate, travel southeast from the Frontier Gate. You'll encounter some Devourers along the way as they pop out of the ground, but if you take them a group at a time, you'll have no problems defeating them. The path will curve around east and then veer northeast after the collector, then turn sharply back towards the south. Keep following the path and hug the wall (being careful not to aggro the Devourers on top of the plateau). Round the corner and head northeast in the chasm before tapering off east. Round the corner south and climb the small knoll. A group of Devourers may be waiting for you, but they're not too tough. Defeat them, and speak with Footman Tate (location marked by the green indicator on the first map).

If you choose the conversation choices "Don't make me kill you" or "If you run, I'll find you," he'll simply respond with "I don't know what to do. This is all very confusing." He'll agree to follow you if you tell him that "everything will be all right." Simply reverse the path you took to get to him and escort him back to the Frontier Gate.

Footman Quinn[edit]

It's quicker to reach Footman Quinn by departing from Fort Ranik. Travel south and walk under the aqueduct/series of arches. You'll encounter some Renegades and some Charr (depending on what quests you have active), but they're relatively easy to take care of. Some Devourers may pop up from the ground, but defeat them and head east. Walk through the zone to Pockmark Flats.

Once you're in Pockmark Flats, head east and follow the path. You'll encounter a Crimson Devourer or two along with some Flash and Shatter Gargoyles and perhaps a Storm Rider or two. Head north until you reach the aqueduct/series of arches and head east, following the structure. You may have to fight some Wind Riders, Hulking Stone Elementals, and a Stone Elemental, but fight the Riders and the Elementals separately and you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Stick with the path and follow it southeast. You'll reach a point where you can take the first path north, but keep heading down until you reach the shoreline and follow that north. You'll have to follow a winding path up northeast, but after you crest the hill, Footman Quinn will be waiting for you (the green indicator on the second map). Alternatively, you can travel south from Serenity Temple through Pockmark Flats.

Once you kill him, map back to the Frontier Gate to get your reward from Warmaster Riga.

Dialogue[edit]

Initial dialogue[edit]

Warmaster Riga
"I was appalled when I heard what happened. It is unconscionable that two of my men would try to steal from the Temple, but when I went to confront Footman Tate and Footman Quinn with these allegations, I discovered they had fled.
I do not think they can have gone far. Shiftless and gutless as they both are, they must be within the Eastern Frontier or perhaps as far south as Pockmark Flats. And yet, now, more than ever, all my men must stay focused on defending the Wall. Will you find these two and bring them to justice?"
Yes Accept: "These villains will not escape."
No Decline: "I doubt they will cause any more harm now."
Ask Ask: "The more I consider it, the more I am aggrieved at this stain on the honor of the Frontier Gate. Do not give up the pursuit! Search the Eastern Frontier. Search Pockmark Flats. Find Tate and Quinn!"
(When asked about quest after finding Tate and escorting him back):
Ask Ask: "I am pleased that Tate surrendered himself. He made a terrible mistake, but he may yet redeem himself. Now we must find Footman Quinn. He wouldn't have gone north of the Wall. Check the Eastern Frontier and Pockmark Flats for him."

Intermediate dialogue[edit]

Footman Tate: "Oh, I can see by the look in your eyes that you've come for me. Or didn't you?
"What do you want with me?"
<Character Name>: "Warmaster Riga sent me."
Footman Tate: "I don't know what to do. This is all very confusing."
<Character Name>: "Don't make me kill you."
Footman Tate: "I don't know what to do. This is all very confusing."
<Character Name>: "If you run, I'll find you."
Footman Tate: "I don't know what to do. This is all very confusing."
<Character Name>: "Everything will be all right."
Footman Tate: "Ok I agree to come with you."

Reward dialogue[edit]

Warmaster Riga

"Finally, we can put this matter to rest. It is a shame that Quinn chose to throw his life away, but there is still hope for Tate."

Notes[edit]

Bug Bug.Footman Tate will continue to spawn in the Eastern Frontier even after you lead him back to the Frontier Gate.
