  • Move armor articles to their new, post-May 24th update names. Update links to point to the new armor pages. -- Gordon Ecker 23:27, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
It would appear to have been completed by hand, which is good; I have no idea how to start about programing the bot to do that. A bot's more for highly repetitive edits, and this is a request that would require a different change for each article. MisterPepe talk 20:45, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Now that it's been moved, the link cleanup can be handled with the double redirect bot, assuming that programming a bot to clean up double redirects is feasible. -- Gordon Ecker 23:31, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
It is, I ran a test earlier today. It works perfectly ;) MisterPepe talk 23:35, 31 May 2007 (UTC) [EDIT] - As of right now, all double redirects have been fixed. MisterPepe talk 23:36, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
  • If a bot could change all of the pages that include Image:Aiiane-a.gif to Image:User Aiiane-a.gif, it'd be nice. Otherwise, I personally don't mind just redlinking them, but meh. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 22:11, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
It's going to ping the talk pages of a bunch of users, so I personally won't do it; I don't see the need to bother a bunch of people over something like this, especially since a) the images are the same, b) there's no policy that says you need the User prefix for signature images. Just change your sig from now on to the new name and leave those as they are, why complicate things needlessly? --Dirigible 00:10, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. MisterPepe talk 02:26, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Fine with me - only reason I posted this request was because gem had brought it up (see User talk:Aiiane#Your old sig image). If no one else seems to mind the image being around, I see no reason to change it. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 03:00, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
  • Lemming64 pointed out my signature icon uses the incorrect format for an icon and I've been using it since the website started. I need all pages using these icons to be changed to my correct icon so that I can delete the old incorrect ones. Incorrect icons: Image:User Vallen signature.jpg, Image:Image-User Vallen Frostweaver signature.jpg, Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Correct icon: Image:User Vallen Frostweaver signature.jpg. Let me know if you need anything more or if I can be of some assistance. Thank you. --User Vallen Frostweaver signature.jpg Vallen Frostweaver 13:12, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Please see the comment on Aiiane's signature icon (Declined Requests) poke | talk 13:32, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
As Poke pointed out, GWW:SIGN still doesn't require for all those images to have that particular naming scheme. Easier to leave them where they are, I think, so we can avoid bothering people. :) --Dirigible 22:00, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
  • Add {{Inactive guild}} to all guild articles requiring it (they must have received no edits in 6 months). --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 18:59, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't think this is a great idea due to the fact that per Guild page policy we normally should have to check the ingame activity before we can tag the page.. Which is imo a bit stupid.. poke | talk 19:56, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah i would agree with that - how do you check ingame activity of a guild that lists a forum that needs you to register to view the forums? A guild leader that is rarely online due to work or perhaps you just happen to miss him/her? Generally there are around 10-15 guild articles 5 of which you cant be certain of and the rest qualify for it anyway. And if by mistake the guild does become tagged what happens then? 90% of the time there are no attempts to remove the tag within the month. Spending 5-10 minutes per page adding contacts to my friends list, pming them to see what guild they are in, see if they know the guilds status if they arent, registering on a forum then burrowing through threads, or rummaging through the website to see signs of life just takes far too long.
This may sound harsh but i'm all in favour of just marking pages with the tag then be done with it - if they are active and are watching the page because they took the 5mins to register and set it up so they get the email in their inbox telling them its been edited for this reason then 'wooh' good on them - now they can change it accordingly --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 20:16, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Maybe we should bring this up at GWW:GUILD then? poke | talk 21:44, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
If they care enough about their guild page, then they have enough time to remove the tag before it is deleted. — Eloc 03:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Well I have brought this up at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Guild pages#Inactive Guilds as Poke suggested, feel free to contribute to the discussion --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 16:11, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
  • I request making a gallery of skins for each weapon (similar to Gallery of Shields) if this is a bot task. GaaaaaH 09:03, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
I don't think that that is a task for a bot. It would be probably easier to go through the weapon types and add them manually. Also I think it was already done with DPL. poke | talk 17:30, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
It's been done since I posted the request. GaaaaaH 18:37, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
  • I request the type in the infoboxes of quest articles be linked as per the new addition to GWW:QUESTS. Not sure if this is tedious enough for the bot, but it seems so. --Chaiyo Kaldor talk contribs 16:00, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Wouldn't it be much better to simply add a switch inside of the infobox template to handle few possible values for that parameter? poke | talk 19:19, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Really? That does sound like it would work better. Hadn't thought of that; thanks Poke. Wait, it already does that. OK, looks like I have a bit of self-reverting to do. --Chaiyo Kaldor talk contribs 21:00, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
  • Requesting a bot to go through the Inactive Guild List and add {{inactive guild}} to each of them. There are more then 500 of those since the policy changed from 6 months to 3 and im too lazy to tag all of em manually (especially since there is no Inactive Guild Tagging in GWWT) --SilentStorm User SilentStorm MySig.png 19:17, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
This is not a task to be done by a bot. There are too many variables. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 19:23, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Wyn and decline. poke | talk 20:42, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Well ok didnt think about the Contact and possibly missing Stuff - would've been to easy anyway ;) --SilentStorm User SilentStorm MySig.png 21:10, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Is it possible to teach Wikichu to add a redirect to guild pages when they are moved to a historical status so that the lingering links to the old guild name do not show up on the wanted pages? Elric 22:24, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
The Redirect from the Old Page to the Historical one has once been there and was very annoying and has been removed recently. One Reason was so that Historical Guild Pages which became active again could be easily moved back without needing a sysop for it. --SilentStorm Talk to me 22:36, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Please excuse my ignorance but why? What makes it difficult to delete a redirect and then move a page without sysop attention? Elric 23:20, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Becoz only Sysops can Delete / Move over Redirect. --SilentStorm Talk to me 23:21, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Can't users edit a page to remove the redirect and then copy/paste the contents of the now historical guild or even {{subt:Guild:Old_Guild_Name (historical)}} and just hit save? Elric 23:32, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Overly complicated. Also why do you want those stupid Redirects so badly? Just ignore the Redlinks for Guild Pages or correct the Links --SilentStorm Talk to me 00:04, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Copy-pasting does not preserve page history, which is important for GFDL attribution. - Tanetris 00:08, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Okie dokie.. can wikichu fix those links? I looked at the first 500 wanted pages and more than half of them are Guild pages. I explored a few. Each page has dozens of links. It would take a human a lifetime to do it all. Elric 00:16, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Thank you Tanetris, I didn't know it was a GFDL issue. That explains the sysop involvement. Silent... It's not the links in pages I am worried about. Its hundreds of pages filling up the Special:Wantedpages. These aren't going away and if I read right they will continue to stack up. Elric 00:21, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
  • Request adding a "Formatting Guide Compliance" section to all quest discussion pages. I may later ask that some status entries be added to that section based on the presence of some template or sections information on the main page, but I've been up all night and need some sleep before I specify the details for that.      mtew 11:07, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Please add the following templates to that section:
    • {{Guideline status|I=Y}} if the Infobox template is used.
      {{Guideline status|I=X}} otherwise.
    • {{Guideline status|M=Y}} if the Infobox template has a 'map' parameter and the image exists,
{{Guideline status|M=X}} if the Infobox template has a 'map' parameter and the image does not exist, or
{{Guideline status|M=n}} if the Infobox template does not have a 'map' parameter.
    • {{Guideline status|V=?}}. If you can figure a way to detect the presence of an overview, add either a Y or X parameter value.
    • {{Guideline status|P=Y}} if the 'Required' (or whatever it should be called) section is present,
      {{Guideline status|P=X}} otherwise.
    • {{Guideline status|O=Y}} if the Objectives section exists,
      {{Guideline status|O=X}} otherwise.
    • {{Guideline status|B=?}}.
    • {{Guideline status|R=Y}} if the Rewards section exists,
      {{Guideline status|R=X}} otherwise.
    • {{Guideline status|E=?}}.
    • {{Guideline status|W=Y}} if the Walkthrough section exists,
      {{Guideline status|W=x}} otherwise.
    • {{Guideline status|N=y}} if the Associated NPCs section exists,
      {{Guideline status|N=x}} otherwise.
    • {{Guideline status|D=Y}} if the Dialogue section exists,
      {{Guideline status|D=X}} otherwise.
    • {{Guideline status|A=Y}} if the Notes section exists,
      {{Guideline status|A=n}} otherwise.
    • {{Guideline status|T=Y}} if the Trivia section exists,
      {{Guideline status|T=Y}} otherwise.
    • {{Guideline status|C=?}}.
    mtew 20:17, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
I would like to have some comments and consensus about that idea first; I would prefer to not add a template (with unclear parameter names btw) on so many pages to have it removed later because people decided to make it different. poke | talk 20:25, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
This may surprise you, but none of the parameters are used by the template itself. Their names and use are defined by "Guideline item" templates in the Formatting Guidelines. In this particular case, the Guild Wars Wiki:Formatting/Quests page contains the parameter name specifications. Other reports will use different guidelines and different parameter names, but the "Guideline item" and "Guideline status" templates are very unlikely to change. There is a link to an example report on the guideline discussion page.
Some of the codes have been in use for a long time in the quests project. Some are new. Each will probably require someone look at the corresponding quest page, judge the actual content and change the code value to reflect their judgement. That is, each template is a place holder in a sort of project 'to-do' list.
While not strictly necessary, each template could be put in a separate list entry with a comment describing the condition matched. You might even have the bot 'sign' each entry since these are discussion pages.      mtew 16:46, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
The link is actually on the project page. Directly, it is Pre-Searing Prophecies Report.      mtew 23:24, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
The meaning of the parameters values are documented on Template:Guideline status.      mtew 14:37, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Since I fixed Template:Item icon to work on my userspace (and all of wiki) - I know and noticed some items are listed with a picture that is not the same name.png (or .jpg). An example of this would be the runes: Rune of Minor Vigor, it breaks if I want to use the template here. Could a bot fix this for all or some of the items? Thx --User Karasu sig.png Karasu (talk) 19:12, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Personally, I don't really see a need to do this. The rune names are like that to not have unnecessarily the same image multiple times on the wiki and it works quite fine in all current articles. Changing all rune articles now and duplicating the images multiple times is not really worth the result of simply being able to use a template. Instead you could utilize the standardized names of those images and create a rune icon template instead, if you really see a need for having a template to display the icons. poke | talk 17:46, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Instead of making a copy of one image for each rune would it be possible to create pages that redirect to the correct image? Like "File:Rune_of_Minor_Vigor.png" would go to "File:Rune_All_Minor.png". Not only for runes but also for salvage items (Dwarven Armor -> Salvage Heavy Armor) would this solve a lot of problems using the least resources. --User Karasu sig.png Karasu (talk) 03:08, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Why don't you simply enhance your template to use the correct image? If you need help with that, I can aid you. But in general I would object adding redundant images or redirects just so a that a template, that is very rarely used, works. poke | talk 10:17, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Not only this template will come upon this problem, but i'm sure multiple projects benefit from this. And making a list of exceptions (each rune, each different type of salvage) would include hundreds of unique corrections. I'm not sure about the naming convention but if the correct File:ITEM NAME.png or .jpg (depends, png for items) shows the correct item without having to duplicate the images it would be useful. If you need a list of item names and what they should redirect to, i'd be happy to generate one for you. Anyway, it's not urgent and I'll look into that list on it's own time. --User Karasu sig.png Karasu (talk) 21:09, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
If you still want this implemented, please start a discussion elsewhere and try to get consensus. I won't decide alone on this topic. poke | talk 21:45, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
  • Request changing all links of NPC to non-player character (link-to-redirect to direct-link; [[NPC]] to [[non-player character|NPC]]). There are 3000+ links to NPC, though my main concern is with the mainspace and category namespaces. --Riddle 19:37, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
I have to object that request for the simple reason that using a redirect in article is not a bad thing, and it's actually more useful to have the code in a readable state than to link to the NPC page directly. poke | talk 17:04, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
  • I'm requesting that all skill infoboxes include the | categorize = section. I'm currently working on the skills history project, and this would make it easier for myself (as well as other potential editors) because all of the main information would be readily available to copy from the main skill articles.
