Can't write patch file?

I been getting this for awhile now: Assertion: Unable to write patch file 'C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.tmp' Everytime I got it I just put the disc back in and reinstall it(didn't uninstall it) and it keeps coming back and don't know what to do. So can someone help me?

What operating system are you running? Looks to me like Guild Wars does not have proper write rights for the folder it's in. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 00:04, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Complete Collection

Hi, I've got the Guild Wars Complete Collection and was supposed to get bonus items with the game, but i've been playing it for a while know and I've not recieve any (I was hoping to get them once i left Pre Searing). Have I missed something to get the items and the golem?

If you mean your wiki password, we can't tell you, we don't have access to the database. If you enabled email when you created your account you can request a password reset I believe. Wiki account name problem


I had a "Yole Dematmor" account. I tried to rename it as "Yoledemar". It only partialy worked. So I tried to rename it back as "Yole Dematmor". The last renaming of the page worked, but the account remained "Yoledemar". Today I tried to log in as "Yolemar"... didn't work. So I recreated a "Yole Dematmor" account. I did it wrong, as it seems ! Now there are two pages : "User:Yole_Dematmor" and "User:Yole_dematmor".

Please please. Could you fix this mess ? My apology. Idealy - could you rename the account and the page as "Yodmor" ? And remove the other page ?

Unfortunately we do not have access to the user database so we can not make any adjustments to accounts themselves. What you can do is simply redirect any incorrectly named pages to your active userpage. i have aquired the 4th anniversary storage yet i cannot access it....what am i doing wrong

account help

I bought Guild Wars at a second hand store, Its already been used obviously and I dont know anything about the account how could i reset it?

You can't. A used Access Key is used up forever, and buying/selling accounts is (in short) illegal. You can't buy Guild Wars "used", and the owner of that shop doesn't have any idea what he's doing since this would apply to any MMO-esque game. Take it back, get a refund and buy a new, sealed copy. Reset your account? If you mean your password, use the Reset password link on the login page. If you don't remember the email you used to create your account, or no longer have access to it, you will need to contact support. see the page on Error codes... that particular code has to do with failing to connect to the servers, either a firewall or a router issue or your ISP... 23:42, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

change password

My friend changed my passord and forgot it. How do i change it without logging on?

On the wiki or in game? On the wiki, if you have enabled email, request a new password from the login screen, and one will be sent to your email. If you haven't enabled email, you can't get a new passord, and will need to create a new account. Not getting email for my password that I forgot

I am trying to get my password for my wiki account. I forgot it and would not mind a temporary. I do the steps to get it sent to me and it says it sent an email. I never receive the email.

I have monitored my spam/junk boxes after I request my password and it never shows up. Should I just create a new account then?

Yeah, because it is working (I just checked), so you might have not set an email address, or the one you think you set isn't the one you set. Or, (just checked the user list), you're not using the right user name. The one you registered (on July 10) is actually Cole fardreamer (no capitalization on the second part of your name). Adding Access Key??

I have played on my account for 3 years. I have a factionsregular account. I have purchased a collectors eddition (new sealed box) factions game. I would like to add the access key to my exsisting acount to gain the emotes and special items. IS it possible to add the game account to my exsisting account? Will it delete my previous characters or reset my account??? I dont want to do anything until I know that the new collectors eddtion WONT destroy any of my exsiting account. 18:52, 13 October 2009 (UTC)usil

Though the game will give you a warning that parts of the access key you're adding to your account will be wanted since you already have them (namely - access to Factions). Besides that everything is fine and dandy. I added a Factions CE to my account that had normal Prophecies, Factions and CE Nightfall back in the day... Roar! Account problem

I just bought and Downloaded GW from the GW main site. I did the digital Buying and accound creation But it is not recognizing any of my account log in information... as you can see I am writing this from my account. missing case: missing access key

A while back, my brothers got guild wars. i found the cds just recently and insalled. it wants an access key but i have no idea where the case is. we did purchase it but i dont know where the key is.. i was wondering if there is another place i can find the access key, like the cds to find it.

Adding keys to full account

I have all campaigns on my account bought 1 by 1 and long played... Now I bought Complete Collection - What happens if I add key to this account - I would appreciate next 8 characters slots... but I think It wont happen... Is the only possibility to make new account?

I didn't try adding a key for something I already had, but I'm pretty sure that the game would just say to you, that you already have access to the thing you're trying to add (campaigns) and won't allow it (unless the package would contain something you didn't have, like the Fire Imp. In that case, it would warn you that almost everything will be wasted except for that and ask you if you're double sure). The only way to get more character slots for an existing account, are to add keys for campaigns (not expansions) you don't own, add pre-order keys (pretty sure you can't get those now) or buy them from the Guild Wars In-Game Store (upper right corner in the character selection screen) or the NCsoft Store. Account not authorized to play GW

Hello bought/played GW:Eye of north about 2 years ago, Now i wanted to play it again. Typed in my account details (which i even remembered) But when the char screen hits, in the middle of the screen is an red box with text in it: Your account is currently not authorized to play GW, if you wish to continue playing go buy the appropiate guild wars campaing I clearly remember that i leveled an necro up to 9 when quitting so the used game card is out of the picture...

ANyone mind helping/giving wise words?

Eye of the North is the expansion for Guild Wars which means you might have been using a trial key to make the character, to see if it was a trial key look on the account management page and it should tell you if it was trial keys or not,if so then to play again your going to have to purchase a full account which you can buy from multiple outlets including purchasing from the online store using a credit card. As i read from a piece of paper which was in the box, i used the Guild wars Platinum Edition retail key, so it can't be trial...but as i've read from other poster about account keys, strangely i have none on access keys screen ingame
Platinum Edition would give you full access but if there is not keys on the list you could try adding the access to see if it works, if not you will have to contact support to get futher help as they will have access to be able to tell you your account info if you can provide enough proof that you own it (just security reasons so that you cant say that its yours when it really isnt).Simzy User Truesimzy mysig.jpg 18:00, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
I think the platinum edition came with a "buddy" key, you may have accidentally used the trial key when you set up your account.
