Merge[edit]

I recommend this article be merged with the rest of the Ascalon Academy mission article. Any objections? LeFick 04:15, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Merging would be silly. The only thing the two share is a name. Backsword 19:48, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Silly? Lets examine this in some detail:
Both the PVP battle (part 1) and helping Prince Rurik (part 2) are both halves of the same mission.
You must do them both together.
If you try to resign from either mission half, you are returned to the beginning of part 2.
You can not DO part 2, unless you have at least started part 1.
They are the only way to access the Ascalon Academy explorable area.
Both part 1 and part 2 take place on opposite sides of the same gated wall.
A character can ever only go here once. (not counting disconnection)
Part 1 is assigned by Sir Tydus.
Part 2 starts automatically apon completion or resignation from part 2.
Once into the mission, either part 1 or part 2, you can not go back to Ascalon City ever.
Once into the mission, either part 1 or part 2, you can not go forward in the game untill you complete it.
Looks like they have a lot in common to me. Since they are halves of the same mission, I believe they should be on the same article. Nothing Silly about it. LeFick 21:59, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, they are sequential. So are plenty of things in the game. Eg. Mission outposts.
The key point is that the info for each section of the article is different. An article where every section is split into two subsections is just pointless. Add that they are seperate map zones, with different ingame links, and there is really no case. Backsword 22:12, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Agree with merge. Just like our dungeon articles, have all levels on one page. Talk br12 • 22:14, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
To: Backsword, While my original retort was meant to be a little dramatic, I am curious, which in-game links you are talking about. If you can explain in a little detail, I might have to reconsider my position. Thanks LeFick 22:31, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Check the Game Link: namespace. That's where the game links to. (From the help screen (F10 default)) We then link onwards tp mainspace articles. As these are seperate enteties from the game engine perspective, they have seperate links. (That's true for dungeon levels too, though.) Backsword 22:53, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Ok. I just made a new temporary character, and ran thru the Searing at the Ascalon Academy. Durring the PVP battle, there is indeed a F10 link to that part of the mission, seperately from the second half. I then went to the special pages and viewed the Game Link namespace (what an eye opener that page is) - Ok - While we could still use a redirect, I see your point. I'll remove the merge tag....LeFick 00:01, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh - I took a screenshot while I was there.....LeFick 00:04, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Dialogue[edit]

Same deal as Talk:Trial by Fire. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 03:08, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to post this here, while it probably belongs somewhere else, (i didn't know how to create new topic). What i was gonna say was, that the wiki sais "Victory Condition = Deathmatch " but I believe that's wrong, as of what i reemember there's always been a ressurrection shrine, and the party that scores most kills wins. -- Prince Godrik

Isnt the party size 4 instead of 8? I wonder how dishonor works here... ;-) Justice 11:33, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Requirements[edit]

I have only ever managed to do this once - on my very first toon over 4 years ago - in subsequent Tyian characters I have never been given the option :( Tong2 18:20, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

I figured it out, someone else needs to be going in at the same time 96.245.174.169 19:47, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
That doesn't necessarily hold true either. I ran two characters through to Post searing a couple of weeks ago (two separate accounts - started mish at same time) and they skipped over the PvP portion as well. I would hazard a guess that at least four players need to be entering at the same time in order to round out both teams evenly. Unfortunately, I only have three accounts with which to test, but at least we can know if it works with three players entering at the same time HanokOdbrook 15:01, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
I've been entered into this battle with only two toons (mine and someone else's). 75.37.18.221 15:07, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) For me this has been variable. Some get it, some don't. When I went in at the same time as a friend once, we wound up on the same team, along with two other players versus three players and a henchie. This wasn't really fair because the four-player team was also significantly higher-level, and the others were then dragged down even further by having a L3 henchie.

And then, more relevantly, there was the time when my ele went through. That battle was one player plus three henchies on both sides. Well, that answers the question: You can have a 1+3 vs 1+3 battle. I know this because I did. (sorry, no screenies) Cynique 11:18, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Also had 1+3vs1+3. I can't seem to be able to re-create a fight with two lvl1 N/Me. Maybe the level or completed quests do matter ? Maybe something had to be different (different professions, different levels, different districts)--Ruine User Ruine Eternelle Ruine Eternelle.jpg Eternelle 12:46, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

Henchmen[edit]

Which 3 henchmen do you get? Surely this should be listed. Mist Y (talk) 15:30, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

Alesia, Orion, Reyna, and Stefan are available, and the one that will be excluded is the same profession as the player (so if W, no Stefan, etc). I don't recall what happens when you have a Mesmer or Necromancer profession, though I would assume Orion gets left behind because they're all "offensive" spellcasters. If you had asked me 5 years ago, I would have had both scenarios tested by now. - Infinite - talk 15:59, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
I had a feeling it was them. Presumably their respective pages should list Ascalon Academy as a location in which they can be found? Also, do both teams get the same henchmen? I mean do you get 2 of each in the same instance, fighting their cloned selves? Mist Y (talk) 23:16, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
Yes, they should list Ascalon Academy as a location. As for duplicate henchmen, I have no direct knowledge of whether that is a yes or a no. Especially now that it generally skips the PvP section, this would be difficult to test. Assumption would argue yes, to keep teams "balanced" and all. - Infinite - talk 23:33, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
The statement is not true. A warrior/monk will get the warrior henchman and not the monk. There is more to it than that, making it just wrong. 162.213.117.178 12:30, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
