WoC quests[edit]

Im not sure where to post this. But does every WoC quest need to have two pages for it. Wouldn't it be enough to put the mob level in parenthesis like normal and have a section at the bottom labeled Hard Mode with the changes required. --GigaClon 22:46, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

The quests change a lot - for instance, Light My Fire's quests have different locations for where the drakes are. I also think its best to keep it consistent with the 6 previously existing HM quests, which have different pages due to change in enemies and their skills. Konig/talk 23:03, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
The parenthesis is used in regular quests that offer extra rewards for hard mode is the way i look it, but these ones are a completly seperate entity and require the normal mode version to be complete. Mobs have been specifically changed for example theres some bosses in the new courier one.--Smithy-Star User Smithyben sig icon.png 23:30, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
So if you do the normal mode ones in hard mode they could still be different from the hard mode ones in hard mode? 60.49.109.125 16:02, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Normal or Hard mode[edit]

Do you have to finish the NM mode version of the quest to get the HM version, or you can either do the NM or HM mode version? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 121.54.92.58 (talk • contribs) at 15:29, 7 July 2012 (UTC).

edit: nvm, I just finished the quest in HM mode, but it only gave NM mode rewards. The HM mode version then became available. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 121.54.92.58 (talk • contribs) at 16:34, 7 July 2012 (UTC).
ANet made this more confusing than necessary by re-using jargon. A hard mode quest is always a follow-up quest to the normal mode (or standard version).
  • You can complete nm/standard quests in nm or HM; the reward is the same.
  • You can be in nm when you take either type of quest from an NPC and when you claim the reward.
  • To be able to take a HM-version of a quest, you must first complete the nm/standard version. Also, you can only complete the HM-version while in Hard Mode.
I would have preferred if they had called these "follow-up" quests or "advanced challenge quests" or ...mostly anything that didn't use the word "mode" or "hard." – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:44, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

Build Suggestions[edit]

Having completed WoC in NM, I realized that the hero team build I used for the early 8 man quests against the Afflicted (the first 6) wouldn't work in HM. Revisited my builds, and the following worked extremely well, requiring only some tinkering for Cleansing Pongmei Valley: a) Gwen as anti-caster/summons, rupt and support with Panic, Spiritual Pain and enchantment/hex removal; b) Norgu as anti-melee, pressure and support with Shared Burden, Clumsiness/Wandering Eye, Conjure Phantasm, and enchantment/hex removal; c) Olias as corpse/minion manager and support with Icy Veins, Animate Bone Minions, Well of the Profane/Well of Suffering, Verata's Gaze, and Ward of Stability; d) Master of Whispers for pressure, enchantment removal, and resto support with Pain of Disenchantment, Suffering, Chilblains, Life, and various resto heals; e) Xandra as spirit spammer with Signet of Spirits, Gaze of Fury, Destruction, and Disenchantment; f) Dunkoro as primary healer/command support with Blessed Light, Heal Party, "Stand Your Ground!", and "Never Surrender!"; and g) Razah as protective spirit spammer/secondary healer with Soul Twisting, Shelter, Union, Recuperation, and Weapon of Warding. Fill in the rest with various rupts, e-management, hard rez, heals, damage, shouts, enchantment/hex removal, condition management, weapon spells (e.g. Spliter Weapon if you are a physical), etc. Due to all the enchantment hate, use no enchantments except for Dervs. Lord Flynt 16:47, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
