Am I the only one who thinks that Dragon Blast.jpg looks more like the painting of the exploding man from the show Heroes than a dragon beathing fire? ~ Kailianna Firesoul 17:28, 30 April 2007 (EDT)

Incorrect Tip info?[edit]

Regarding the tip that said to continually cast Trade Winds when dead, I don't think that it is automatically on you upon resurrection. I think that it's just more difficult to notice the casttime. But I'm leaving it until I see someone agree/disagree. Wongba 17:42, 30 April 2007 (EDT)

I've changed it, because previously it made it seem like you were able to activate it while dead. I just tested it, and while you cannot move when being resurrected (I think), you can activate the skill, so that's the bonus of spamming it while you're waiting. Plus then you don't have to wait for that reaction time to think "hey, I'm alive again!" before casting it. - BeX 02:01, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

Removed Stub Tag[edit]

i think the article is relatively complete. if someone disagrees, u can tag it again. --Wongba 12:24, 2 May 2007 (EDT)

Flawless victory[edit]

Does anyone remember what the award is for flawless victories? IIRC it's 50 faction, but I'm not sure. -- Gordon Ecker 08:20, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

pretty impressive that u got a flawless. closest i've seen is 1 death. --VVong|BA 14:26, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Pseudo Arena[edit]

wouldnt you also need shock in the fake arena copy the skill kowtow? 76.26.189.65 22:54, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

technically yes, however the trivia included only how the original game was played and not how it was turned into a real minigame. i'll add something to the trivia section tho. --VVong|BA 21:13, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
actually, shock was a popular additional skill that was played before the dragon arena version. Shock was considered the equivalent of a "knife" ability in a fps because it was slightly faster that throwing a lorb at close range and was effective when players would warp through the teleporters. Most likely the reason knowtow exists at all is because shock was a popular part of the original game. edited the page to reflect this. 67.165.250.178 23:09, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
The build under the notes section of the page is incorrect, you cannot have Elemental Attunement with a Me/E, because it is in the Energy Storage Attribute. Firil Srein 17:25, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
sure u can use ele attune on me/e. it'll last 30s. --VVong|BA 21:26, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
....no. You can't. Briareus 02:02, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
ok, i just tried this and ele attune definitely works. it gives me +7 energy back at 0 energy storage at a cost of 15en (lightning orb). am i missing something? --VVong|BA 02:18, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

10 Wins[edit]

I got +50 Balth faction for 10 consecutive wins Seru 16:34, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

u get an extra 50 faction every 5 wins gz on the consecs mate -sub 85.176.87.247 21:03, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Gamer points for consecutive wins[edit]

Now the big question, will there be Costume Brawl style streak-bonuses of awesome, or a flat reward like Snowballs? 40+10 points per win was nice.
With that in mind, PLAY BALL! (Dragon Arena is quite possibly the best thing in Guildwars). --BlueNovember, Stormbow-wielding DA ninja.

total agreement about it being best thing in gw. --VVong|BA 02:33, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
I think there isnt, got 30 wins yesterday and I havent got my new title rank yet :p Besides, can people stop adding the note about vamp weapons causing degen, anet has fixed that (Ive removed the note twice now). 86.90.30.175 08:27, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
I agree that dragon arena needs to give more gamer points per win. "Gamer points for consecutive wins" would be the best, but at least give 10-15 per win if you don't do that.Firefly 13:31, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

We want more Dragon Arenas![edit]

Let's inform ANet that we want more Events with Dragon Arenas! It is the best moment of Guild Wars I have :) 90.59.44.9 13:31, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

True, I personally love it. But - for some reason - the servers are lagging hard today (and yesterday night), so it's pretty much unplayable (I don't like surprise shadowsteps, really). Maybe if ANet would make this game accessible more often, less players (read: noobs) would be attracted and the servers wouldn't be /that/ (over)loaded? OTOH I'm not even sure it's load's fault, considering they lag even at night. 79.139.2.195 16:52, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

I want more DA too!!! pretty plz with cherry? Edit: removing "i'm the best" talk as someone has gotten upset at it ^_^. I'll let my actions do the talking. it's nice to kill Fast with my monk for a change, No ROJ doesn't count. I will admit though that this is the only way I get gamer points, cuz I suck at other festivities. that plus DA is so hella more fun than anything else. yes I know that I'm posting this when DA isn't up but that's how much I love it ^_^. I love that you can kick anyone's buttocks with a Banana Scythe wielding ele, or a Gingerbread shield, Peppermint wand Warrior. not to mention the no clothes options.... Roflmaomgz 20:20, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Yes, finally some people who like it aswel, there should be more DA around the year !!! I truly love it and its the most awesome minigame in GW :) 80.60.80.108 22:03, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

year round DA would be cool Fcheck 00:23, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
I love this game, and would want to see this game/event more. For some people, dragon arena never gets old and they enjoy playing it. Firefly 05:22, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Why not just have a low reward single party version of it?

Then us 'noobs' wouldn't be able to offend self-confessed gaming gods like 79.139.2.195 (from above, who apparently never needed to learn the game and automatically picked up the skills without ever being a noob themselves.) and we might be able to learn to play without being abused. I would have spent more time reporting than playing if I had've reported every bit of abuse I took, if I'd've had a mind to.

Hey, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I haven't said I wasn't new to the game at some point in time either, as that would be obviously incorrect. What I meant is that there are many players who join the game once or twice, get killed easily and just leave it forever (or utill the next DA). Or worse - just leave it immediately after their first death (during the match). With DA open 24/7 those people would actually have a chance to train a little instead (I don't think any player is easily demotivated by their loss in RA - they just try and try and try until they succeed). And you have to admit yourself, playing against skilled players in DA is much more fun. I apologise to those who felt offended by my above comment. 79.139.2.195 10:43, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Hey, 79.139.2.195 - It's a leisure activity, and your bloody title rank doesn't go down if you lose, DOES IT? So shut your whining mouth. People like you ruin the minigames for people like us. I ain't no friggin care bear, but people yelling (all caps) YOU STUPID NOOB is hardly friendly, and it's not bloody trash-talk - it's straight out abuse. And it certainly doesn't explain what I did wrong, does it? Don't tell me to read the Dragon Arena page, I already did - and I've come (i.e. went) to the Arena to try it out and see how it works. And do you know what I'm finding? The Wiki left out how you can't make ANY mistakes or you'll be abused mercilessly by 'Avid Gamers'. And what the hell kind of idiotic anti-social miscreant trash-talks THEIR OWN TEAM? How is that even close to Teamwork? Yes, it's frustrating, but at least you guys know how to play the game - either share your knowledge (and help your team), or shut your stupid whining cakehole (and still help your team). Everyone learns differently, just reading a webpage may not be enough for some people (like me) to understand properly how the game works. But 79.139.2.195 has made it pretty clear that at least an element of the DA gang are simply elitist snobs who care as little for other player's time and energy as they do for GW's social cohesion - as in, not much (if at all). I'm stuck playing PvE because every single PvP activity I go into seems to be filled with selfish idiots like this. Why doesn't everyone like this piss off to WoW (where being an antisocial competitive jerk isn't just *required*, it can make you famous), and then all the FRIENDLY players who want to be part of the PvP community can be allowed to.

If you saw me in-game you wouldn't say that. I hardly ever whine at other players, mostly because what I've learned is that those who whine the most are those with least skill themselves. And it makes one look stupid. Unless, of course, there really is a reason to make an ass of yourself. Oh, and I agree about my unfortunate use of the `noob' above. As already said, I meant `new players', which - I believe - is the original meaning of the word. Not the most generic and stupid insult (ab)used nowadays - thrown at just everyone, ranging from those teammates not doing what you'd like them to do, to... enemies who beat you (oh the irony). Anyway, I'm only annoyed at those who leave immediately without even trying. Otherwise I would most likely just sync with others, which I don't do too often. I enjoy the randomness. One of my best teams ever was a random team. 79.139.2.195 11:09, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

If you really want to see those things you mentioned, I hope you have also emailed NCSoft with your ideas. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they don't scour the GuildWiki Discussion pages looking for good ideas. I'm not mocking anyone - I'm saying 'If you want to see it, then tell the right people!' Anyway, there you go, eh? Draque Azure 04:22, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

geez, bitter much? anyways, if u want to learn, study some of this video from a dodgeball master. unfortunately, i haven't found video of sync vs sync online so that u can see how elite dodgeballers play against each other. but this is a start. --VVong|BA 06:53, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

I'll admit people sycn with me sometimes, but I don't sync with them... meaning I never look for synching teams they ask if they can sync with me and I then I do, but really I enjoy killing my friends just as much, in fact prob more so than teaming with them. I would like if they had tournaments like they did for snowball... oh well a man can dream. Edit: Hmmm I suppose I could give tips... but I will wait till after this coming July-just in case they have Automatic tournaments. (paranoid someone might beat me with my own advice.) Don't worry after July I promise I will. Roflmaomgz 10:20, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Aight no tournies... how depressing. anyways here's some tips:

1. try not to attack head on, always try to attack from the sides, or in a best case scenario at their backs, unless they are watching the radar they won't see you, especially if they are distracted by others trying to hit them. 2. Watch your radar-for the reason above. better players will try to attack you from every direction, your radar is your defense. 3. get as close as you can to shoot, this will give you better accuracy, however only go as close as your confident you can dodge if they attempt to shoot you, this comes down to your personal skill. 4. use teamwork, if your dragon blast is on recharge and players are trying to imperial majesty you, run to your teamates whose dragonblasts aren't on recharge. 5. imperial majesty people that hide behind pillars. go to whatever side they are closest on. do this either after they shoot, or wait for them to shoot and then go. 6. cancel casting can save you, learn it, live it, love it. it's free here. 7. a good way for beginners to learn is once they die, click on someone in your team that you think is good, and watch what they do. 8. frontline/backline: the better players should be in front, dodging and shooting, if you know your not the top in your team, best to try and time and shoot at the same time when someone shoots at the better players. 9. keep the math in mind, if you have died more than three times consider yourself hindering the team 4*6 is 24 (20 is a win). try to aim for 3 deaths minimum, 3 kills minimum ratio. I guess that's it for now, no need to turn this into a novel lol. Roflmaomgz 03:22, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

suggestion...[edit]

When playing dragon arena My group had a Leecher we all reported, but of course in Dragon arena when you win, you just move on to the next match, I think that a leecher should be removed somehow because It really sucks to have the same leecher for over 25 games. I do however like the fast pace of the dragon arena and would hate to see that part of it go, (I.e, re-entering each time.) more like if all team members but one report in dragon arena they get kicked and dishonored. Kill Count[edit]

There is some dispute regarding listing in the infobox how many kills exactly are required in this arena. Since the article itself says 20 kills and the kill count article also mentions that dragon arena requires 20 kills, i don't think it needs to be in the infobox. --JonTheMon 17:36, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

about syncroing[edit]

it's something about RANDOM games thas wrong when "people"(must call them that or they wil fel bad) abouse on the metod chosen to made it RANDOM, so they go together and abuse on it... there must be some one that says ./ban 3 days reason abuse on game mechanics, 3 days so its not as if your botting, gold selling or such stuff but you still tring to abuse on game weaks... on other games wen you for example use a bug in a wall for increase your kill count, when the server admin see you doing so usualy wanrs you about do such thing, and if you repeat it usualy get kicked/banned here must be some thing like that just for fun. Stupid answers like "impr0 syncroer who get gammer 8 doing soo0o0o" on the trash box (dont forget to say the "Q Q" or call me troll it will harm me sooo much). also say "its just a game" its stupid by the fact its a game suposed to be for fun and not for be annoyed by idiots dat like to gankwa.. **syncroshit -- by 127.0.0.1 today day, actual time --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 93.156.33.90 (talk).

anet has already made what they consider a change to counter syncs, and they show no signs of doing more. they're also pretty focused on gw2, and stopping syncs on a holiday minigame has got to be pretty low on their totem pole of stuff to do. --VVong|BA 14:52, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
ANet is aware of the groups of players who intentionally synchronize into "random" forms of competitive gameplay in order to gin a team advantage. AB guilds have employed this tactic in the past in order to continually run the maps in International, where they can almost guarantee a full 12 roster of their guildies. My own guild utilizes this is smaller squads to run FA matches every once in a while. There's even a guild devoted to the Dragon Arena, I kid you not: [ball], who I'm certain would be the worst "offenders". If it hasn't been dealt with by now, I'd just accept that ANet doesn't consider this enough of a problem to merit counter-measures. Sec Qr Euin 23:40, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
Yeah but [ball] are terribad, so it's just a free win ^^--SilvenUser Silven sig.jpg 23:31, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Heh, yea. We spend most of our time dicking around. I play far better when I'm alone than when I'm with one of our syncs. It's just too much fun. Most of us aren't grinding title ranks. We just like DA and like to hang out with friends. It's funny that all the people complaining "it's just a game" care more about winning than I do. -Ax Mastery (ball member)

Made unpleasant by nasty good players[edit]

Had a go at this last night as a friend likes it. Unfortunately, the waiting area and the arena itself was dominated by several very good, but rather unpleasant players. I got the impression they were friends, as there was a lot of what I'm pretty certain was banter: if their language had been less offensive it would've been funny. A couple of them got a bit nasty in-game though when things weren't going their way. Abused their team mates, as well as opponents, calling them 'noobs', 'no-name' somethings, 'feeders', etc.. At one point, after a particularly unpleasant comment, aimed at my friend, I just sat at the shrine. Weirdly enough I didn't get abused.. :o So not playing as well as these self-proclaimed pvp Gods is baaad, but doing nothing is fine...? Bizarre. One guy in the waiting area was having a moan about some 'noob' who had actually had the incredible idiocy to use a rez. signet on him! Wow.. How sad that with such a small amount of people actually wanting to play this (waiting times were long sometimes), the strong majority choose to treat their fellow players like scum. I did okay. A few good parts, a couple less so, but I would have really had fun had there been some FUN in this miniGAME :( P.S: Captain Li Sah doesn't seem to be in GToB atm so currently unable to get a pvp char to DA..? :o ~Lya
