Dehja[edit]

Watch this little sh*t; s/he is a psycho. S/He wants to move faster than maybe you do... Tough Sh*t, buddy! keep up, or die. I learned the hard way...  :(... --199.116.115.146 20:45, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

The Drought[edit]

Should it be The Drought or the Drought? Both are used on this page, but The Drought is used on the Sandstorm entry. Stonekin 10:05, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

replay cinematic[edit]

how do can i replay the cinematic at the end of the mission? ive checked every one in the town before and after the mssion and noone replayes it for you

I don't think it's possible usless you re-do the missionThe Mattster 19:43, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
I just watched the cinematic when I didn't kill all the Droughtlings. I kept getting knocked down while the Master of Whispers pretended nothing was wrong xD -77.166.63.187 18:54, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Pumps' effect[edit]

How does turning off the pumps affect The Drought? I presume it lessens the damage, given that I was being hit for in excess of 600 by its Ebon Hawk, but I just want to know what exactly they do.

Every time you turn off a pump, it reduces the environment effect Thirst of the Drought by 10%. Spells of The Drought deal earth damage. I don't know if it deals normal attacks, and if yes, what element it does. I presume maybe, and of earth element. - Decollete 06:46, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

BUG[edit]

Despite shutting down all pumps, I can't get higher than a standard rating. Please, somebody fix this, I can't get elonian protector because of this bug!

You have it backwards. You get Master's by NOT shutting down the pumps. -- Hong 14:47, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Physical damage[edit]

"A bonder monk can be handy in the end, since you only take physical damage." How does it come that you take only physical dmg, the drought is ele so... Limu Tolkki (Limu Tolkki - talk) 14:46, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Power Block[edit]

I've just had the easiest masters run on this mission ever. I was playing a Power Block Mesmer, interupted The Drought's first spell and he was dead before he was ever able to cast another. Just wondering if Power Block should be in the list of skill recommendations? Ajax Baby Eater 07:55, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

If it works for you, add it, and if it dont work for others they can remove it. --Burning Freebies 20:58, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

wow lol i set up gwen as a power blocker and it was so easy :D Silent kill 09:56, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I wish i had come here first before doing this mission. I specifically took daze with me and this bastard still raped me and the backline. Was to the point where i had to flag a hero with a hard rez way back to rez us after wipes. Finnaly got him but yeah i certainly see where powerblock would = win. A side note, Kihm is a healing monk like mhenlo and unlike Lina. You wont find PS on either which is really a shame. Justice 01:33, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
What do you mean? Kihm does have Protective Spirit. --Silver Edge 20:25, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Opps lol. Perhaps her AI is different. Lina tends to drop PS on the very first person to take dmg and Seriously, i thought kihm was a healing monk and never questioned it since ive never really seen her drop it on me. No doubt just poor obervation on my part. Justice 02:34, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Earth Damage[edit]

You only take additional damage when you take Earth damage, so just take the ranger skill Winter Winter, which converts all elemental damage to cold damage.--84.192.6.24 15:35, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

It's moar fun to take as many eles with stoning as you can, as thirst of the drought is actually bugged, it also affects him and the droughtlings. At least i hit 17 with Sandstorm on a casting droughtling, just after I capped it and with 0 Earth magic....82.95.65.117 12:37, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Why isn't this on the main page for Rangers! First go, wiped in 10 seconds. Checked this page, deployed Winter Winter, bam Drought dead in 10 seconds. Easy! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.98.228.5 (talk).

BUG[edit]

I got a little bit through this mission and a group of kournans wandered up and started a battle. After this battle, the Dervish NPC (Cant remember her name) just stood still, and wouldn't move. So, perhaps you should run from any kournan mobs. I can't be sure, but I know this is what caused her to stand around when I tried this mission just a minute ago.

Dehjah[edit]

"As she tends to run ahead as soon as each group of enemies is eliminated"

Well, actually she just runs to scripted waypoints, indicated by the yellow ping on your compass, and then checks if you are close enough to her and THEN continues running. If you aren't with her, she just waits until you get adjacent and then rampages to next waypoint. Useful at HM to recover after dispatching an enemy patrol, without hurry to next one. Is it a bug that you can skip both Pogahn and Rilohn?[edit]

"Bug: Neither this mission or Pogahn Passage are needed to complete the campaign."

Version 1 is the current note stating that the game is bugged because players can find a way to skip both missions, one which should be required by the storyline. I believe this is one of those situations in which developer intent is ambiguous: it's possible to complete the Prophecies storyline without completion most of the missions. Factions changed this by making it nearly impossible to reach later missions without completing earlier ones and this was continued in Nightfall. However, I'm not convinced that any remaining loopholes were unintended. I also think the current phrasing is misleading.

"Although the storyline suggests that either Pogahn Passage or Rilohn Refuge are required, you can finish Nightfall without completing either."

I think this second variation conveys the same information and is easier to follow. (I'm assuming that PR and RR can be skipped; if this is possible, we probably should describe how to do it, either on a talk page or in the article(s) proper.)

  • Do people believe that this should be listed as a bug? as an anomaly? as neither?
  • Do people prefer one variation of the phrasing over the other?

Thanks.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:11, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

How does the user that suggested that they do not have to do either of the two missions intend to get the npc in the next outpost to talk to them? I guess perhaps it doesn't require anything since the prior missions dump the character in the outpost? (And in this case could you not just run directly to Moddock Crevice from Yohlon Haven after Consulate docks to skip most of the Kournan missions? --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 16:07, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
I would say the bug belongs on the mission/quest page that allows you to progress in the campaign without either of these two missions being done. --JonTheMon 16:13, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
I will describe the bug. I discovered that the entrance requirements for Rilohn Refuge and Moddok Crevice are the same. I came to this conclusion because I run to Moddok Crevice (through Vabbi via Basalt Grotto and all the way around down into Moddok). I did this run for a toon and found out when the quest To Kill a Demon is turned in, that both Rilohn Refuge and Moddok Crevice activate themselves...both ready to be started. So once one turns in To Kill a Demon and has Moddok Crevice from my Vabbi Tour, they can skip Rilohn Refuge and continue the campaign simply by map traveling to Moddok Crevice and talking to Unlucky Simon. I hope this satisfies everyone. --Next Top Runner 19:49, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
So it's a bug for Moddok then and not for this mission? --JonTheMon 19:54, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm still not convinced it's a bug, but obviously it depends heavily on being able to run the Vabbi Tour. That makes it relatively unusual. I would consider it an exploitable anomaly, much the same way that runners can cross the sulfur on foot (instead on wurm).  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:23, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Well, the bug would be that Moddok is locked by that quest instead of the mission before. --JonTheMon 20:28, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I buy that; that is harder to explain as intentional. So the bug is that you can skip doing either of the missions by reaching the relevant outpost and moving forward immediately after To Kill a Demon; after, everything works as expected (must follow the storyline). I would agree with Jon that the note belongs on the quest page for To Kill a Demon.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:38, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Should we remove the bug then for this page and just add it as a note for Pogahn and Rilohn? Furthermore, add a note to To Kill a Demon and Moddok Crevice? --Next Top Runner 20:50, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Never has a fight made Shelter look so good[edit]

Just did this on hardmode for the first time, with a Soul Twisting/Shelter Ritualist hero. Made the Drought into an absolute joke - I didn't even see anyone's health bar drop before he was dead. Crazily overpowered to turn those 500+ damage hits into tiny little love taps that are instantly healed by a single spell. --Beliandra 21:20, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Serious Trouble[edit]

Just wondering, why do you have to kill the extra Droughtling to complete the mission? Its seriously annoying... I've done this three times now... --78.149.61.225 23:30, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

You actually don't. Killing the Droughtlings reduces the power of the Thirst of the Drought environmental effect and makes fighting the last boss easier. The Masters for this is mission is to leave all 5 of them alone and face the boss at full power. ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 00:06, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
I think he/she is not referring to the bonus, but to "Kill the Drought and the Droughtlings in its group to finish the mission", which is also required for some quests and dungeons (e.g. Remnant of Antiquities (Zaishen quest): "Kill the Remnant of Antiquities and accompanying foes"). --Silver Edge 04:18, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
Ah, well in that case, if I recall correctly, you don't have to anyways. I believe I just rushed/PI'd the boss every time I did that mission. ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 04:25, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
I think it's designed that way so you can cap the elite from the boss. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:52, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
