Normal Mode
Just did this in NM, I will forget about trying HM...It would be pretty damn hard to do with no better reward. --58.7.97.156 02:23, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- No kidding x_@ three heroes, two lv15 henchies, uninfused armor, build built around bleeding,LOADS of jade... Not to mention the distances to cover. Harder than freaking EotN, and that was just in NORMAL mode! Leon Drakenhart 05:49, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- You do realize you can go around every tower with ease? The towers do need a tweak though. It seems for the most part very few professions can attack them. Any kind of projectiles are "obstructed." And Natural Resistance doesn't help either. Especially since you shouldn't bring henchmen (since they aren't infused; your monk will waste energy healing them for nothing). I went over and got both keys but felt like killing so I walked in through the front door. The ether seal was a nice touch. -2 energy per second with mobs stationed around the area makes it difficult for those that aren't use to pulling foes out (with or without a bow). Once the ether seal was gone everything went relatively smooth. The end boss was kind of a let down. Too easy to kill. Rewards were decent but enhanced rewards in HM would be nicer (as well as a few additional rez shrines here and there.. ; \). -- Magic Talk 06:09, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

- This is easy... don't know what you use but i just went in and killed. --Mr HaXx 07:49, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Idk, i went in with discord + 2 level 15 henchies (heal+brawl) and had a hell of a time at it. Perhaps i just fail (very probable) but that damn ether seal just wiped me. and because i was being stubborn, i did that four more times until everyone was at 60%, then i dragged ass through the end. it was an hour long quest, a painful hour long quest.
- I found it kinda easy on my Ranger with a PuG, only a couple of deaths but they were quickly rez'd and we steamrolled the rest of the enemies, the second attempt on my para we lacked any healer, wiped a few times but eventually finished the quest within 20 minutes. Boss was disapointing though, I was expecting something epic - Phil 13:45, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Just go with anything else than discord and is a cakewalk even on Hm--85.53.65.231 21:18, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Do not use Melee henchmen with discord, they aggro stuff, drain healer and do not contribute hexes or conditions! I took alesia+dunham and had very easy time even with discord. Just make sure you do not use PvX version :) Ether seal is easy - you can basically wand it to death, but you sure need to pull enemies before that, you nver have to fight more than one jade at a time if you are able to pull stuff. Again easy even with discord, but balanced party would rock it. Zweistein 10:22, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- I used Stefan and Alesia with discord heroes, and it was a walk in the park. Just pull groups apart and you'll be fine. At the ether seal, just pull everything out of it's range, and once you've killed it all, run in and the seal drops in seconds.-- Pyron Sy 11:23, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- Which Discord build would you recommend? I have so many from different people (like 9 builds @_@) I have no idea what ones are good or bad. I tried doing this last night and after 2 hours had to give up, it was so ridiculous. Izari

Help please how can you do this if you are elemental and have no one to help so I must use the low level henchmen. I wish they made reg mode easier for those of us that need to finish quest solo. And use hard mode to give guys a challenge that complain about easy bosses. That complaining by the way is so lame, Some of us can not do this solo and you that complain its not hard enough are what wanting everyone to think you the great player well duh. I usually do the quest many time if its hard trying different setups for me and my heroes. But this one has me stumped. Is the game harder since I last played. Is this game setup now for only the best players and those who ply with friends? It use to be so easy in reg mode. As long as I tried different builds. But I am not even close to doing this quest. i have tried several builds and wasted hours I say wasted for I am getting no where. I really hate having to stop playing this game just because some of the quest have gotten harder and skills not as good.
Jan/01/2011 OMG This is so wrong It is way too hard and in my case impossible to pull less than 8 most of the time. Why did they make this so hard? Guild Wars use to be easy enough with a little working/trail and error skill and hero setups but this quest in REG MODE is more like PVP and the other player has the best gear and all the skills while you have only played a few weeks. I looked forward to guild wars Two until I started this quest. Now I think they have listened to too many old time players complaining about easy quest and they have made reg mode what hard mode use to be. This is impossible for players who do not have time to play to get all the skills that have to be captured. Even Eve has it setup for solo players to have fun with easy areas and this game has easy enough quest but this is a quest I have to do yet it is too hard for me to do it.
Requirements
- Does this require all three Inquisitor bounties to be completed first? — kyrasantae 02:39, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- It didn't show up for me until after I completed the new one, so I would assume all three must be done first. Can someone who has not done the other bounties confirm this?-- Pyron Sy 02:42, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Same here. -- FreedomBound 02:45, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I only did the last quest. I can't get this one. Vezz 02:47, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Got today's SB bounty quest, but never done it, but have access to the RA quest. DaveBaggins 02:58, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Which bounty, the Greves one or the Inquisitor one? -- FreedomBound 03:01, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Greves the Overbearing. DaveBaggins 03:02, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I currently have Barthimus the Provident, Calamitous, and Greves the Overbearing in my quest log. I will start doing them to see which of these will unlock this new quest. --Musha 03:08, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I discovered the requirement: it is the quest, Wanted: Inquisitor Lovisa. --Musha 03:56, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

- Just a correction -- I was allowed into Riverside Province part of the quest, but never required the actual quest itself. I spent a good 30 minutes wandering around looking for Willem the Demeaning, but he didn't show up. Kinda sucks as it now looks like I will have to do some of those SB bounties. DaveBaggins 04:09, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I just did the same thing. I've done all the bounties except Calamitous which I wasn't home to pick up yesterday and it's not available now. Paulina lets me in but the quest doesn't appear to be active and the text isn't there as listed. I fought all the way to the Temple and cleared it - no Willem to be seen. Kind of a pain really. Too late for me to mess with more :/ Clobimon Craiggy 05:48, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Dangit. Just figured out my problem. I'm an idiot. I had to speak with Salma to get the quest in the first place, not Paulina. dummmbA. Guess the first run was practice. :( Clobimon Craiggy 05:53, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Use your mission map. The locations of the keys and bosses are on it. I did go for the keys and then just entered the back door and took Willem down. Stay in the right corner when you get through the door and cast away. Sardaukar 05:02, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, they're on the mission map, they're just on the COMPLETE other side of the area. I missed it too, found 'em by accident.
- Is Ascension a requirement? The "Krytan Events" update data says Salma is looking for those who have obtained the "True Sight," which is obtained along with Ascension/Weh no Su/Hunted!. 24.248.195.165 18:35, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Meaning for the Mursaat as a whole
So with this, there are still some Mursaat around that aren't twisted like the one we messed with in EotN? I What was the point of that then? Ahh Mursaat... you are the abyss of tyrian lore... -70.6.108.97 03:06, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- You didn't even mess with Mursaat in EotN. 0.o -- Magic Talk 06:01, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- there's one mursaat called Lazarus the Dire in eotn, you encounter him in a non-primary quest chain. --189.135.89.104 06:45, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- And given his course of actions, we're not likely to finish him off in this war. -Yossitaru 06:52, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- They are talking about this. But yeah, Mursaat always seem like the gaping hole in Tyrian lore that should have been forgotten about after the titans were unleashed. 122.111.7.236 07:04, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- They're supposed to "play a bigger role" in GW2. Makes me wonder if they got bored and started awakening dragons. --Riddle 07:28, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- And Mursaat means the Seer which is a whole other can of worms. The Guild Wars 2 Wiki entry on it/its race already says Seer magic is part of the war against the White Mantle and one of the links claims information on the Seer(s) very close to the core of the lore. All this deep, yet untold story stuff is becoming a tad irksome. -Yossitaru 08:59, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

If you wish
It IS possible to survive going through the front gate. I did and managed to beat the mission. I'm not sure if this is easier or not compared to finding keys tho.BurrTheKing 05:55, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- True. Careful pulling is key. -- Large 07:11, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- It was doable on NM. The hardest part was getting past that female Mesmer boss, but you needed to get past her anyway. I don't know why anyone would want to collect the keys, because if you want to go through the front gate, you only need to fight 2 more White Mantle mobs. -- Arduin 08:28, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

- This cheapskate took Ursan Blessing which is great considering the Ether Seal is having no effect on you. Also if your careful enough you can get on the platform where the demeaning is without touching the other group just north of here. Is the note about killing the other bosses really necessary as it does specifically say you dont have to go in that way. --92.22.179.74 13:59, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Explorable Area Note
Though not related to the mission, and not sure where to properly put this but the War In Kryta version of Riverside is stilla ccessable after the quest is turned in if you go and talk to Paulina again. :) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:99.8.80.8 (talk).
- The EA isn't just for this quest, it's a normal new explorable. Don't have to do the WiK if you don't want, etc. Backsword 15:00, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Hard Mode
A guildy and I did this in HM for our first attempt. The foes were generally pull-able, but groups are hard to identify. It seems that since Anet buffed Mesmers in PvE, all the worst opponents are now Mesmers. And the variety of mantle builds is getting entertaining. It would appear that they are making these foes more and more like player builds, of course with much higher level. Some deaths will be inevitable. — Mar Master 16:32, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, but since this is a normal quest and not one of those bounties, there is no particular reason, besides the challenge, to do them in HM. Backsword 17:12, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Coincidence
Anyone else notice that this quest was released on the same day that the ZM rotation came to the actual mission? 98.226.156.237 19:48, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- It was actually the day before, but even if it were, yeah, I'd call it a coincidence. They set the Zaishen missions in rotation long ago. -- FreedomBound 20:03, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Huh, so it was. Must have been late my time, didn't notice it till today. Still, an interesting, though probably unplanned, timing. 98.226.156.237 21:45, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Keys
Just... don't waste your time. On HM, getting the keys just serves to prolong the quest; the mobs are more numerous and almost just as difficult as those guarding the front gate. 24.117.66.14 16:51, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Spirits >> Ether Seal
If you are going through the front door, take a SoS ritualist. Not only do they help a lot during the battle, but they make easy work of the ether seal. Setup all your spirts outside the seal's range, run in, cast Painful Bond and then Summon Spirits. Two volleys and the seal is down. me55enger 05:22, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- Why bother killing the ether seal anyway? I just walk past and into the boss room, it doesn't actually seal anything in this quest.--Manassas 13:03, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

I recommend one member of your party has Pain Inverter, it helps ALOT especially with the Jade Cloaks using Earth Magic, takes about 3 seconds XD Zachariah Zuan. 10:00, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Trivia
"Oh, now? Let me get my rations, I'd hate to have a grumbly tummy while sneaking around." <-- Decline dialogue. Reference to Metal Gear? -- Large 15:30, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Master of whispers-no Dp
Master of Whispers seems not to gain death penalty here. I found this twice first time he had a 2% moral boost from the jade construct Cairn the Cunning and second time with a 5% moral boost from honeycomb. The whole party had died at least 2 times and we all had Dp but he didn't. Has any one else found this? Blueblob 17:54, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
- It's most likely because MoW used Death Pact Signet on another hero or yourself, then that rezzed person died. If you die as a result of DPS, you do not incur death penalty. -- FreedomBound 18:18, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Killing the seal
Walkthrough suggest it is necessary to kill the seal when attacking through the front door. But it is much easier just to ignore the seal after killing the mobs around it, as the effect doesn't reach into the final room anyway. Should we edit the walkthrough to reflect this? --Manassas 13:46, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
- Its too much fun to kill the seal though! Doesnt bother me either way. Sonic Tuesday 13:51, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
- Well I wrote most of the walkthrough after pugging it about 5 minutes before, the SoS can kill the ether seal in seconds, even while you're fighting the mantle. [ it may not be necessary but anything that could potentially drop jade weapons is worth it imo :) ] --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 08:18, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
metal gear trivia
Uhm, sneaking and rations is all that connects the two? There must be dozens of games that involve sneaking, and likewise dozens (if not hundreds) that include rations. Unless there is something more specific, I don't think the trivia is warranted. --Xeeron 20:26, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
- Ye agree. This is pretty lol. Razor39999 22:16, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

- Do you have a link? I tried "sneaking rations" in google and got almost no hits at all, with none of them related to metal gear. And on http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Ration, there is nothing about sneaking as well. --Xeeron 08:59, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

- its pretty certainly a metal gear reference, and tbh I suspect people who think otherwise either aren't familiar enough withe MGS games to get it, or just hate the idead of references. Another very good reason for it to be a reference is its location, and even the mission set up. In MGS you are smuggled in via a waterway to take out a group of elite soldiers.......in this mission you are smuggled in via a waterway to take out an elite group of white mantle. The rations/sneaking/alert guards all make perfect sense in this framework, and I suspect people just dont get it or dont like references. Hope you people pushing for it get your 'this is a reference to' reinstated, because hey, you are right. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 94.8.46.117 (talk).

Abandoned Quest
Finished the three quests for Inquisitors Bauer, Lashena and Lovisa, got this quest from the princess but abandoned it after a few tries. Now how do I get it back again? Salma won't talk to me. Moebius the Malign 13:24, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- I finished the three inquisitor quests as well, and neither will Salma give me this one. Can't remember abandoning it, still, I'd like to be able to get to the end of this questline, HotN, etc.. Breintje 18:41, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- Taking the "The War in Kryta" quest from Murro in Lion's Arch, and following it, seems to have solved this problem. Did have to re-kill two inquisitors. Breintje 16:13, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
