Paragon-based team build (2 humans and 6 heroes)[edit]
This is the starting point for attempts by my brother and me to tackle the Domain of Anguish up to, but not including, the Citadel. We have used this team with great success in Eye of the North, pre-DOA Nightfall, Factions, the Underworld, and the Fissure of Woe and enjoy playing with a group that isn't composed of the typical "Tank" + 3 million "Nukers" + BIP + Bonder. The heroes require a minimum of micro-management but are basically able to play their skill bars competently without help from us. If anyone stumbles across this page and has some suggestions to offer, please feel free to leave a note on the discussion page. Yes, it is heavy on hex removal (3 elites for hex removal!) but so far hexes have been the biggest problem we have faced. Vocal Minority in particular, with so many paragons, can make life difficult for our group.
- Update (November 7, 2007): Cleared the City of Torc'qua and killed Lord Jadoth with this team in 1 hour, 40 minutes on our first (very slow and unnecessarily cautious) attempt. We were lucky that we brought Spirit Rift on Xandra because there is a single Margonite ranger on the eastern edge of the city wall that cannot be hit with spears or bows. All the other defenders on the wall can be taken down with bows and good positioning (gogo Vamp bowstrings!). Nature's Renewal combined with Warmonger's Weapon, Razah's mesmer interrupts made dealing with Vocal Minority much easier than we anticipated, although there were times when our shouts were shut down.
- Update (November 12, 2007): Cleared the Tomb of the Primeval Kings with this group in 1 hour, 20 minutes on our first attempt. It would have gone faster but we forgot about some of the pop-up groups and the deaths from those groups slowed us down on the third level. My brother got 2 globs of ecto (1 from the first room, 1 from the second) and Elswyth's bow. I got a perfect req. 9 Adept Accursed Staff of Fortitude (HSR 20%, HCT of Curses 20% / 20%, Health +30) from a chest in the second room and Victo's Maul and Axe. Cleared about 3 platinum each from the run as well as some rare crafting materials. Not a bad farm, and I'm sure we'll be able to clear this much faster as we tweak the build and learn all the pop-ups.
- Update (November 21, 2007): Cleared the Fissure of Woe. My brother collected 6 obsidian shards, I got 4. We made over 10 platinum each in addition to the rewards from the chest that spawns near the Forgemaster. He got a crappy Igneous Maul. I got a req. 10 inscribable Golden Phoenix Blade. We didn't have any deaths in the entire run.
- Update (December 12, 2007): Damn but is the Domain of Anguish boring. It is not difficult, just tedious and not worth the time or effort just to say that we've killed the purple brute. My brother is burned out on the game now, and I don't blame him.
